Uhh....

@TheOneMoiderah : Can we get a clarification of what you mean when you said "Walpurgisnacht ejects what little is left of the shaft"? Did the shaft go all the way through the gears, and drop out the bottom? Get pushed entirely out the top? Or was the shaft only mounted to somewhat inside the (currently) top gear, and it's just the little bit of it from up there that got spit out?

It was only mounted to a bit of the top gear, and that's what got spit out.

It popped upwards like it was spring-loaded.

The laughing comes back full-force, this time deeper in pitch. The tone gets lower and lower and lower, before it stays at a flat, low pitch. The gears twist and turn, while you see Homura quietly take a step backwards.
Well, that's not terrifying.
[x] Ask Homura if she knows what this means.
Question: Do we want to know?

We can probably expect that there won't be fire. The fire seemed to be something that came out of the head portion.

We have a lot less leverage to tilt the gears next time it unleashes a superhurricane.

The gears are moving again. Why are the gears moving?! /panic

We have no idea where the attack is coming from. Possibilities:

  • It could attack from the front, where the shaft was.
  • It could open up holes in the gear we're standing on and blast us (in various ways) from below.
  • It could start spinning to throw us off.
  • It could send out streamers of whatever from the gear area below us, to wrap us up like a ribboned prize, Mami-style.
  • It could start spitting out familiars into the city.

What's the best approach to defend against any of those things? What's the best coverage we can expect, for all individuals?

Is it just me, or QB eyes on the video seems to get bigger with each second passed?

Yes, I'm completely relaxed. No, not frightened at all. No sir...

I think we're on a "stage" and can expect to be buried under familiars.
Yeah, canon Homura only got attacked by familiars after she went through everything she had for her attack. Basically, she finished her part, so it was time to move to act 2. We've completed our act 1, so it's time for act 2.

If Wally spits out the dark stuff that turns into familiars, presumably sending a stream at each person up here, most are at risk of getting knocked off. We want to stay up here, right? So we need something to be sure people don't need another Homu-bail; can't be wasting seeds on that.

So we need something to anchor to. The best option we have for that is Kyouko's chains — spread out a latticework anchored to the gear that people can grab onto. We also need either the great shield or the sword block, preferably protecting as many people as possible.

Are there any other powers we can draw on here that are likely to help us? Really, we have very little in the way of defensive strength.

Will a Blade Block work if we can't embed the sword in the ground? Doing damage to the gears has been rather difficult, so I'm not sure that option is even possible here. @TheOneMoiderah : Can we get confirmation on whether this is possible, mechanics-wise?

It popped upwards like it was spring-loaded.
We might possibly have open access to the spring area now? It's inside the gear, and was sealed in by the shaft. Is there any trick we can try?

/pours 15 tons of peanut butter inside the gear works...

[] Kyouko: Chain lattice that people can hold onto
[] .... not sure...

I guess there's just one way for you to find out. Yes, it'd protect you.

Do you want Walpurgisnacht to start treating this like a cage match?

...goddamnit changing vote.

[x] Follow Homura's example. Step back.
[x] Ask Kyouko to summon a barrier.
[x] Get ready to dodge anyway.
[x] Counter attack with Chainswords.

OK, other questions for those who might know:

Can you upgrade from Kite Shield to Great Shield for just the difference in grief (15)?
Can you downgrade from Great Shield to Kite Shield for no cost?

Better to work on the assumption we may have to discard the Kite Shield then summon a Greatshield.

Unless we can do some modifications along the way.

"Sayaka, you say you can give people hope, that you want to be a hero. WELL THAT DON'T MEAN A DAYMN THING TO THIS WITCH, AND YOU HAVEN'T GOT WHAT IT TAKES TO STEP UP TO A 100 TIME CHAMPION!"
Walpurgisnacht is the stage constructing witch, after all. Pro wrestling seems right up her alley.

OK, I'm inclined to want to be prepared to pop the greatshield to cover as many people as possible in case of a point attack, like the familiar beam, or be ready to dodge if it's anything else.
