Neither of them calm down. Tomo's dad shakes his head once, before he lets out a quiet subdued sob, while Tomo's mom retreats into their bedroom.
After several minutes, he looks up at you. "I...I just...I needed to work. I couldn't...I...I don't have an excuse." He says, before he lets out a bitter laugh. "Great parenting."
Tomo moves closer to him. "Dad...you still helped me." She smiles thinly. "You were still talking to me..."
"I still couldn't be there when you or your mom needed me." He rubs his hand with his palm. "...I...god."
