SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

[X] Try and gently wake her up.
-[X] Keep up the reassurances the whole time.
-[X] Don't stop hugging her, even if the apocalypse happens or Walpurgisnacht bursts through the window and lands on top of you.

You weren't ever planning on letting go. You kiss her forehead. "Kyouko..."

She shakes her head. "...I'm up." She says, quietly. "...I'm up, now."

"Hey." You smile thinly. "You okay?"

"Not...not really." She puts a hand on your shoulder. "...Well, better now." She smiles.

You giggle. She swears like a sailor but she's so cute right now. "...I won't leave you."

"I know you won't." She says. "...I know. And...thanks." She says.

"Yeah. Thank you, too."

I'd really rather not start the day off with telling parents. That puts the meguca out for the whole day and I'm hesitant to just throw away time that could be spent hunting. Not to mention the effect it'll have on Sayaka as she, once again, gets a reminder that she caused Tomo/Yoko to contract. In Tomo's case, a probable influx of injured people in the hospital and Yoko's case, probably a destroyed building or something along those lines.

It's more time effective to go on a hunt or train or talk to the Tokyo Girls or anyone else really and save the parents for last/later. And time effective is basically what we need to push with 5 days left till Walpy.

I think we might be a tad fragile for witch hunting right now, but then I'm not sure how many grief seeds we have left between ourselves, Kyoko and Akane. As much as it might be a problem, we need to keep supervising the others while they break the news. We can't risk them witching out in the process: the grief spiral would end our shit.

[X] Check grief seed stash
-[X] If below 5 between the 3 of us, go hunting (all three of us)

Go leave the room, hanging onto Kyouko's arm (it's awkward to do, given that she's shorter than you), but you manage to go with her to the kitchen. Your mom's already making a grand breakfast of...cereal. Her hair's messy and twisted, and she lets out a yawn.

"Good morning." She said.

"Morning." You say, before Kyouko just waves weakly.

"Feeling better now?"

"A little." You say.

Eventually, you and Kyouko sit down with your mom and eat breakfast.

[X] After breakfast...
-[X] Go train.

"We need to head out." You say. "We're gonna train."

Your mom nods. "Alright." She says. "Just...yeah." She sighs. "...See you later, Sayaka."

And with that, you both head out, holding each others' hands. "Great way to start the mornin', huh?" Kyouko shoots you a forced smirk.

Hmm... I'm a bit conflicted. On one hand, I really don't want to push for more sad right now. On the other, we've still yet to really address Kyouko's trauma in any meaningful way. Going to the forest could allow us to make an attempt...

[X] Talk to Kyouko.

[X] Write-in what to say.
-[x]We need music, training montage music. Inspiring, awesome, and epic.

[x] Gather everyone available to join us. Ask, don't demand.

I was half debating training at the forest but we still got a lot of drama to take care of today. Dealing with Kyouko trauma is once again on the backburner... sigh.

[x] Hug Kyouko.

Your mom lets go, and you immediately turn around and pull Kyouko close. She holds you back as you start sobbing messily over her shoulder. Without prompting, she presses a grief seed to your gem.

You take a surprised breath as she does so, and she just squeezes you tight. "...I still love you." She says.
You're going to waste her stockpile.
Sorry if this has already been brought up in the last few pages, but I find this to be a tad jarring. Do soul gems really darken that quickly, even though Sayaka isn't grief-spiraling (and felt much worse after killing the last of the Tokyo 6, even though she didn't need to constantly use grief seeds back then)?

I get that gems darken from despair, sadness, etc, but I don't recall burning through grief seeds so rapidly in the quest, before, even when Sayaka definitely felt worse.
----
Also, something of a balancing mechanic question, going forward to the next several days before WPN:
Can we get a change the number of cleanses a given grief seed grants based on how strong the witch was? Otherwise, it makes fighting stronger witches an objectively inefficient thing to do, and at this rate it feels like anything short of surprisingly-merciful RNG is going to result in a net loss (or at least a minimal net gain) in grief seeds.

Kyouko pressed the grief seed to your gem because she thought it looked dark.

She wasn't thinking properly at that moment. Oh, and you just ruined someone's life and everything that makes your life shit is coming together in a gigantic maelstrom of misery.

Yeah, I wonder why Sayaka would be really bummed out knowing actions she's taken has directly ruined people's lives, the guillotine that is Walpurgisnacht looms closer and closer, and that she hurts her girlfriend basically by being herself?

How fucking mysterious. It's almost as if bad shit adds to bad shit rather than replacing it somehow.

For some reason I read Moid's post and imagined Kyouko holding up a bunch of paint swatches to the Soul Gem and eying them critically.

"Nope, nope. Definitely not a Robin's Egg Blue."

Calm down. It was just a question.

You know that 'Oh John Ringo No' meme? I'm going to start posting it when Salty posts a pointless wall o text. With a slight change. 'Oh Salty Waffles No!'

[x] Talk to Kyouko.

"Cutie." You mutter.

"Same." She says. "Same." She pokes your cheek. "...I almost wanna pinch your cheeks."

"Huh?"

"NOTHING." She squeaks. "Just...uh...cuddly. You're cuddly and your cheeks are super red now."

You can feel your face starting to burn. "...hm."

[x] Go to...
-[x] Abandoned Amusement Park.

You and Kyouko reach the Amusement Park. It's just as you remember; shitty-looking with a few destroyed structures all around.
