Oath Sign: Breath of the Wild

...You keep going for fanfic characters.

Any particular reason why?
I feel more confident in my ability to portray them, plus they mix skills that would otherwise not be seen on said character. Uzumaki Naruto the Commander of an international Spy and Trading Network, or Coco Pommel the Master Thief. They're Canon characters, just with an interesting spin for one reason or another.

What next, Mr. Black?

Trust me, I've been in RPs with thirty players.

They never ever go well.

I have, and it went extremely well, actually.

Then again, we had 4 rotating GMs and a master GM and it was a massive realm-wide quest that eventually saw us divided across two sides of a Continental-scale War.

It started so simply too, the Lead GM, as the Lord of the realm, sent out parties in the four compass directions looking for some artifact or another.

By the end of it all of us that survived had been forced to kill at least one other player due to narrative inertia, and the survivors were either standing with the King, or were the Champions of the invaders.

It lasted 3 days and was great.

Ah, see that's your problem.

You need one master GM, a GM or two who rarely comes by, and players going off in different directions to do God knows what!

Maybe it can be done, but that requires effort and coordination along with an engaged playerbase that's not very common in your casual PbP RPs. Especially on sites like SV and SB.

Silvan Elder - Icy Torture Drow
......huh, I can't believe I missed this.

Well, time to throw my non-existent hat into the ring.

Though, since I get the feeling my normal characters of choice are a bit too high up on the food chain...

A drow should do.

Name: Sil'lice Val'Sharen
Height: Around seven foot four inches.

High Concept: Imperial Drow Battlemage
Trouble: Vengeance - For My Mother, For My Clan, and For Myself
Other Aspects: Untrusted Middle Child, Last Heir of the Sharen, Honor Is A Virtue, Eliminate The Tainted, Not So Cold, Socially Appropriate Sadism

Powers, Abilities, and Skills
Drowolath Physiology: As a member of the subterranean race of Fae known as the Drow, specifically the Drowolath, Sil'lice receives a number of benefits from her physiology not available to other races.

Like all of the fae races, the Drow possess an Aura, an external soul which attracts the otherwise insubstantial and intangible energy/pseudo-substance known as mana in a similar manner to how gravity causes matter to attract other matter. This mana is stored within the fae's aura and is used for a number of automatic biological purposes, as well as being able to be consciously manipulated for a variety of effects on the physical world.

Another feature unique to the fae races is that their aging process is intrinsically linked to the amount of ambient mana is in their local vicinity. A fae living in a large population of aura-bearing species would functionally be ageless.

Physically speaking, the Drow have developed a number of adaptations to better survive their stay in the subterranean Underworld of Chel'el'Sussoloth. These adaptation include but are not limited to the following; eyes capable of seeing into an extended spectrum of light, which allows them to see in near-complete darkness and detect heat sources. A digestive process which efficiently leeches nutrients out of whatever food they may consume over the course of several days, allowing them to eat sparingly and subsist off food neither rich in nutrients or flavor. This digestive process also prevents the drowolath body from accumulating excess fat in the same manner as most humanoids.

The aura of a drow, and likely other fae, also plays a significant role in the maintenance of their bodies. In addition with halting the aging process, mana also lessens a drows need for food and sleep, taking over the functions those have in the body, at least in part. Generally, mana deprivation will be much more immediately and visibly crippling than starvation or dehydration.
Raw Mana Arts: All drow posses the simple talent of manipulating mana in its raw state. By concentrating mana, a drow (or other fae) can give it the ability to effect the physical world, something that could never occur naturally. The simplest of use for this would be the creation of artificial lights, fueled by the caster's mana reserves.

Beyond that, one can also fire missiles and bolts of force made from mana at an opponent, as well as create physical barriers to block such strikes. Even the most basic of such attacks can have gruesome, and fatal, results. Due to the simplicity of such attacks, they are often much easier to conjure up than any complex mana art, taking only a moment's thought.
Sorcery: Unlike Raw Mana Arts, which involves giving mana physical form to be used as either a weapon or a utility, Sorcery is the use of mana to manipulate physically extant materials. While a drow may technically use any sorcery if they apply themselves, most are born with an affinity towards a specific element, others being exceptionally difficult to use without long study and experimentation. A drows affinity is retained for life, determined by a mix of genetics and conditions on conception.

Sorcery within one's elemental affinity is inherently instinctual, making attempts to use sorcery outside that affinity extremely difficult without extensive training.

This can be overcome through the use of foci, carved gemstones that, having been aligned to a specific element, can be used to manipulate mana and elements outside one's affinity.

Ice Sorcery: Ice Sorcery is the instinctive usage of mana to lower both the ambient temperature of the sorceress's surroundings and those of objects they are in direct or indirect contact with. While mildly more mana-intensive, a talented sorceress can also conjure and manipulate ice whether it be to create and manipulate constructs, such as shields and projectiles, or simply to create a more efficient vector through which to drain the heat from their foes. A particularly infamous technique Sil'lice is rather fond of is to drain some of her enemy's body heat with each time their weapons clash, slowly freezing their body solid over the course of a long fight. The Empress' third born is also fond of freezing the ground beneath her enemy's feet, causing ice to creep up their body with every step.
Summoning: An ironically non-controversial art in which a fae's aura is separated from its body and stored in a receptacle, usually a gem, to be called upon at the behest of the summoner. The actual process need not be used on intelligent fae, but can be used on any aura-bearing creature. While the resultant summon has the same aura as the original creature, it has not been proven one way or the other if the mind survives the transition. As the aura is still intact, it will gather mana just as a living fae's aura would which can then be used by the summoner's handler at will. Aside from working as a power generator, a summon can also be physically implanted in a prepared structure, usually a golem or machine, to power the machine or animate the golem. Larger machines or golems will naturally need multiple summons to properly power/animate.

Nether Summoning: By opening a temporary portal into one of the many Netherworlds, a nether summoner may use a demon in the place of a fae's aura as in traditional summoning. Similarly, a permanent portal to the Netherworlds can also be opened with the use of a summing stone, and can only be closed with the destruction of the aforementioned stone. Nether demons themselves are ethereal spirits that feed upon both free-floating mana and the auras of fae. These nether demons possess little inherent intelligence and will always move towards the area with the highest concentration of mana, ignoring everything else in their animalistic gluttony.

When a nether demon consumed the aura of a fae or summon, they will instinctively possess their victim's body and assimilate some traits of their victim's aura (such as intelligence) into themselves. The nether demon, now unable to leave its new body, will continue to hunt and physically devour aura possessing creatures until its body is sufficiently damaged as to be rendered mechanically non-functional, at which point the demon can escape unless other measures are taken to seal or otherwise dispose of it.

Sil'lice, unlike most summoners, is neither tainted by the seed of a demon as an anti-possession measure nor particularly interested in opening portals to the various netherworlds. Her specialization is instead the sealing of nether demons and the closing of portals to their home dimensions.
Martial Skills: While some may claim that the Sharen have grown soft after a thousands years of dominance, the Sharen would never have taken the throne of Che'el'Sussoloth if they had not been the strongest of the clans, and they never would've kept it if their martial skill had waned. As the third born daughter of the Empress, it was only fitting that Sil'lice be trained in both the art of the blade and and that of the commander. Sil'lice is skilled in her use of the sword, preferring a two-handed grip while on the attack and a more agile one-handed grip when put on the defense. She is also a fairly talented military commander, though with a tendency to let her stubbornness cloud her judgement.

Torturer: Perhaps unsurprisingly, Sil'lice's great hatred for her tainted kin has found an outlet the torture of tainted captives. With years of experience, Sil'lice has become quite efficient at inflicting as much pain as possible while doing the least damage to her victim's body. Occasionally she even gets some useful information, but usually not.

Equipment and inventory:

Sil'lice's Sword: While the sword is of excellent make and craftsmanship, it has no true supernatural qualities beyond serving as a medium for Sil'lice's Ice Sorcery. The double-edged sword has a straight blade mildly longer than Sil'lice's arm. Its handle is long enough to be held with two hands, but can be used single handedly without issue.

Sil'lice Armor: One of the finest pieces of armor in Chel...a decade ago. This suit of blue armor is the best of Chelian steel and capable of turning aside blows that would otherwise shatter bones and pulp organs. Notably, the armor has at least eighteen potential foci spread along its body, greatly enhancing the wearer's Ice Sorcery.

Ahh always knew that you were an Ice person at heart, although you do get a bit frosty sometimes and need to chill out.

Ok, so no joke. I legitimately could not tell if Sil'lice was a guy or a girl until I read your physiology spoiler. So, um... if this gets accepted and we get in together; I'm gonna milk that for all that it's worth. Sorry in advance, :V

Oh don't worry Narcissist it will be your TIME soon and then we can LINK the jokes together and put all our problems in the PAST. Just you wait you will be playing my tune soon enough.

0/10 bad, boooooo. Heard them a thousand times. Go back to playing cookie clicker on your phone you hiki-NEET. :anger:

Sumireko is more of a chuunibyou and even then she does have more than a few valid claims. Also if you are going to call her anything it would be calling her out on sleeping through all her classes just so she can visit Gensokyo more.

Luckily, I don't have to worry about puns getting under my character's skin.

She already knows she rocks.

No biggie.

I mean, I would've thought the shape of the breastplate would've tipped you off, but whatevs.

That's nothing you should see Quain'tana.
Ah, good ole' Quain.

Such a manly lady.

Ahh always knew that you were an Ice person at heart, although you do get a bit frosty sometimes and need to chill out.
Funny, I said the same to Vy'chriel.
