Allying/vassalizing the Karankawa might be a good idea. I was planning on using them as a proxy against Mexico, but we could offer them full vassal status and help them to rule the Spanish settlers. However, they don't currently have direct access to our borders, so that could be difficult.
If they attack Mexico they will have one, and will have access to the sea.

@Sayle Can you give us approximate troop numbers for Cahokia and its allies, as well as for the Haudenosaunee and Vinland?

Vinland can field about twenty thousand men, although certainly not all in one concentrated force. The Haudenosaunee have migrated away from a warrior culture of 'every fit male' and so they can only produce about fifteen thousand soldiers, but all of those are trained similarly to Elysian doctrine and well-equipped.

Cahokia can produce around thirty thousand, with their allies bringing that number to around 40-45 thousand all told. Cahokia is also the only nation except Elysia which practices a highly regimented and regular training regimen for all those in the militia, which means their troops are well disciplined and ordered.

75 church power.

Also the issue is that they might also practice human sacrifice. Which our king himself has declared devil worship.

So the combination of those factors might lead to headaches for us

We can't fight Maya this turn. Not even in the next few turns probably. Right now we're having income problems so we should consolidate and invest so that we can outgrow our expenses again. War with the Maya will come but it can't happen now due to logistics and distance.

If we want to poke them, we can support their enemies. Otherwise, we focus on taking out Cahokia and all those heathens to the west. Then we can turn south and incorporate Mexico..

@Sayle Is there an option for us to sell surplus/dated equipment to other factions? Might raise up some cash.

Okay, so 45,000 vs. 95,000. We certainly have the numerical advantage here. However, even if victorious this could be very costly. How are people feeling about invading Cahokia in light of this? Should we do it this turn, wait a turn, attack some of their smaller allies, or what?

I would do the smart thing and try to peel away their network of allies first.

We were told that the biggest issue of such a war would the push in. With the need to siege cahokian cities and deal with their control of the rivers

Or secure an alliance or peace through marriage

Get some more allies, namely the Haundenosaunee, to protect our flanks from having to defend too many fronts, thus negating our numbers advantage somewhat, then declare war, Make their allies our vassals or take their territory for our own vassals and allies and force Cahokia into an alliance/vassalage relationship.

How about the following addition to my plan:
-[] Prepare plans for a war of conquest against the Pawnee and Chickasaw
--[] Also prepare for a war of conquest against the Ottawa IF they are no longer allied with the Potawatomi

if we go too war with the potawatomy we draw 2 of the 4 ally`s of cahokia into that war and i am pretty sure there be little those 3 could do against us.

If nothing else I'm cheering on Theo-bro who managed to reconquest their entire lost lands from Crimea!
They bordered Poland at its peak, have sat beside the rising Russian Empire, faced a mass rebellion in Crimea and looked across the water at the Ottomans for centuries, yet they are still here and controlling all the territory they did at their peak.

Something pretty awesome about that.

There's absolutely no reason to go to war with the Potawatomi, unless we foolishly trigger an alliance pact. We don't border them, they share our faith and attempting to annex them will only put the fear of God in the Haudensaunee, who actually are our allies.

Okay, the moratorium has passed and I've converted my plan into a proper vote. Let me know if there are any issues with it that you can see.

why would it? there not the one`s allied too our foe`s?
also us "sniping" 3 ally`s of our largest local treat!
i fail to see the problem?
unless you mean border tention?

then take over the potawotomi and then have them break there allance with cahokia and become our vassal?
same deal for the others if we can?

it take out foe`s we are weaker and lower the number we would have to battle later?

-[ ] [160 Administrative] It has been acknowledged and known for over a thousand years that iron is a superior metal to bronze and copper, yet utilising it to full potential has always been challenging. But hotter furnaces and new innovations in technique are beginning to make it easier and quicker to melt the ore and produce higher-quality metal. This is the first step to an age of steel, one long overdue.
-[ ] [80 Diplomatic] While much of Elysia's wealth comes from cotton and the tobacco leaf, the value of furs should not be underestimated. At present this industry has lagged behind the others due to lack of interest in their expansion compared to the more lucrative and straightforward plantations, but we must be prepared to grasp all advantages in our ascent to dominance over trade in the New World.
-[ ] [110 Military] The square formation first pioneered by the Iberians and adopted as standard for pike and shot has proved its effectiveness on the battlefield, but the difficulty in manoeuvring the formation has become more and more of liability as opponents adapt to the weaknesses of the tactic. Splitting it into smaller and more mobile formations of the same type will reduce their protective quality, but is needed to preserve their strategic effectiveness.
-[] Send a diplomatic mission to Haudenosaunee (Arrange royal marriage for our heir, and prepare for war against Cahokia in the near future)
-[] Send a diplomatic mission to Vinland (Prepare for war against Cahokia in the near future)
-[] Send a diplomatic mission to Potawatomi (Request that they break alliances with Ottawa and Huron, and either become neutral or form an alliance with their co-religionists, Elysia and Haudenosaunee)
-[] Prepare plans for a war of conquest against the Lipan, and the West Indies.

Logic is only MEXICO is allied with France Not THE WEST INDIES. Therefore conquering them is free game. Furthermore if we conquer them then Mexico will be unable to expand.

It looks like the West Indies might conquer Mexico though. In which case, we wait a turn, allow them to conquer Mexico, and then sweep in and conquer the West Indies without annoying France.
