Distance Learning for fun and profit...

Contessa: *comes out a portal with a gun to taylors head*

Taylor: My god you have so much delicious data, stay a while please? Stand still, right there...
why do feel than Contessa "Path to sbeat Scion" will become "Path to escape from the psycotic girl who is making me fell weird!"?
*Contessa tries to pull trigger.
Path to Victory: Stop, she has a point, there is a lot of delicious data here.

Well, I don't think that people understand: Taylor's thing is Subspace Commutications. Gravity tech? Superconductors? Reverse-engineering Tinkertech?
Just shinies she picked on the sides of Her Great Walk to Unknown.
I can't wait for heart attacks when it is learned that everything world-shattering breakthrough she produced are merely important, but inconsequential to her side effects of her actual research.

I am for when Taylor makes her "Aliens exist and I have been learning from them" announcement.

is wrong that i prefer this fic instead of "Taylor Varga"?
I keep picturing a crossover, where "Sauriel" shows Genius!Taylor "Family Math".

"So you see, you can do some really interesting things with this type of math!"

"I see! But, you know...you really aren't putting it to its full potential. There's a lot of cool aspects of this math you haven't even touched on. And look at this! This part is just wrong. You need to..."

**Three days latter Sauriel is standing on the Moon looking at an Earth that is knotted into a gigantic multidimensional pretzel.**

"Perhaps you should have taken the matter of introducing 'Family Math' a bit more slowly, Brain."

"OK, maybe...still, she was right. This is pretty cool."

This would, of course, require Contessa to be capable of running a path leading to this point. Which as I recall, she can't do because Brockton Bay in it's entirity has become a blind spot..

When Broktonbay is in danger Taylor and Amy combine their powers and turn into the Snarky Giant.
Shatterbird announces the arrival of the Nine.Amy jumps on Taylors shoulder."By our powers combined. We are the Snarky giant. To the snarkmobil there are evildoers to snark"
A hour later.Vicky a.k.a. Snarkmobil: "I can not believe that you snarked Jack Slash into surrender and that Crawler was that much intimidated by your size that he fled and i was there."

Well its always nice to wake up to updates!

But yeah I like this chapter since it both builds that Taylor is poking at the portal and subspace to find out more as well as poking at tinker tech figuring it out and doing it better than the jury rig engineers. To add to this DARPA is throwing open the old family trunks including from when they were ARPA and being like kids on Christmas when they find something they can now build.

Heck as has been pointed out I think most of the big NATO nations like Germany, France, UK, Canada ectra do have projects that were selved when the tech becomes more general they will be busting open their own old cardboard boxes to see what is now practical as will various private companies when the trickle down happens.

Also like how the various reasons of why the PRT can't legally get involved are put up as well as explaining so other fundamentals which tend to slip through the cracks in worm fanfics from time to time. I also liked how it laid out various trends and included examples of possible court actions against the PRT.

We also ended with pasta and friends which is always good.

Anyone up for spitballing those shelved tinker devices DARPA might have laying around from back when they still hoped they could reverse engineer them? Force fields are likely, and possibly teleporters... fusion reactors or some other method of obscenely efficient method of power generation? Anyone else have an idea?

TBH I know this seems like an odd one but I'd like to see if tinker tech could develop a more efficient gas turbines. Mainly because they are fuel hogs but they can generate a stupid amount of power I was wondering if it could be improved make it need less fuel but still get the same amount of power.

As for other sources Fusion would be ideal though I'd like to see her skip straight to cold fusion if possible. Heck some efficient and practical energy cells and batteries would be a god send in so many places and sectors for power and heating.

Failing that practical power armour and exoskeletons for use in heavy industry, construction and salvage work as well as the obvious military applications.

*sees update*
*notices it's 6.3k [WORDZ]*
*starts reading*
*four rereads later, prepares (comment) type response*

Well... this was a triumph, and more's on the way. And let me make a note here: the government's decision to put their money behind Taylor will ultimately be a HUGE success; it'll be hard to overstate their satisfaction (not to mention ours, here, outside the wall) when those investments pay off. Hell, it already IS paying off, and Taylor doing SCIENCE 3 (trademark and patent pending) doing what she must, because she can understand the underlying principles behind tinkertech, will only prove to be to to humanity's benefit. Well, probably except those that would've put humanity at peril, immediate or otherwise.

DARPA thought they got handed a Kelly Johnson and ended up with a Tony Stark
Tony only wishes he could be half as good as Taylor, and that's a QA Fact.

Just out of interest, was that intentional?

Whatever, lets just hope that Taylor can stay alive through the backlash.

"Fascinating," she murmured under her breath, barely audible over the faint background track from the alien tutor channel playing quietly in the basement lab. Every now and then she almost subconsciously recognized a few words, glancing at the speaker with a small smile when this happened before returning her attention to the screen.

Taylor's reached the point where she's Distance Learning by osmosis. That's fine. After all, she's got lots of hands-on things to play with at the moment to really pay attention to the lectures. But, I expect things to start getting weird(er) if she starts using Salarian technobabble in casual conversation.

Wait does this mean she will end up performing Gilbert and Sullivan?

If Dragon knew that Taylor could un-black-box Tinkertech, she'd be knocking on Gravtec's door the next morning saying, "Please teach me, sempai!"

Taylor: "Hey, did you know your code's all wonky? Let's fix that."
Dragon: "I love you! I want to bear your cybernetically-enhanced children!"
Taylor: "I thought you said you were interested in a guy named Colin."
Dragon: "Colon who?"
