Are these aliens demons too this time? Or are they just the normal sort? I lose track. Although I liked the lizard aliens. Have you seen them again?:D

Why does no one ever believe me? :(

I was re-reading (a little slower than the first time) and I noticed this blurb...
The Lizards haz already visited... and only XxVoid CowboyxX saw them?
Maybe, if they saw that Taylor was happy and not being bullied, they decided to leave things alone. They may re-visit, maybe.

No, Greg has the ability to see into parallel realities, but it's uncontrolled, so he's not aware of it.
Basically, he reads fanfiction and can't tell which one he's in.

Huh. that would certainly explain Greg Veder SO much...

I think that might be one of the best ways to describe Greg Veder's character, at lease in fanfics, if I ever make a worm story or snip I think I will go with that.

Edit: that would be an interesting story, a Greg that basically seemed to of read the fanfics so at the beginning have him tell Taylor something like it will be ok and that she would then be like then have him use a fanfic like she having a powerful lizard combine with her turning into a cool lizard that will make the world a better place while enjoying to troll everyone. Then have it then of course be something else and him trying to figure out the whole time which one he is in, or something like that.

On occasion I've thought something similar about all the SI characters who end up in Worm and use their outside context knowledge to their advantage; it's long struck me that a lot of them would be screwed if it turned out that they'd been dropped into some Worm fanfiction setting instead of canon.

I can just imagine some SI being dropped into this story thinking it's canon Worm nosing around Taylor with the intent to help her out, and ending up tied to a chair in a basement somewhere being interrogated by a Scary Red Haired Lady about why they were stalking the "Prime Asset".

I've played with the idea of doing a one-shot where an SI gets dropped in the worm verse for the purposes of doing a fix-it fanfic.... only to find out that other SIs already beat him to it and had already wrecked Canon beyond recognition. Saving Annette Hebert from the car crash, saving Emma from the alley, helping panacea, killing scion, etc.

Frustrated, he asks why the hell he was dropped here in the first place then. The answer: it turns out that there were only so many versions of worm universes to go around, kinda like how the DC self-contained multiverse only had 52 Earth Planets to go around in the current canon. And all the SIs already dropped a Canon bomb on each Worm-Earths in Worm's multiverse with all the different versions of Taylor. Of course, the person who filled out the CYOA didn't know that everyone else had already done this to death and that the only reason why ROB even dropped this character here was to see what they'd do once they realized that everyone else had already done the hard work for them.

I guess I didn't complete explain what I meant right, Greg would "know" of fanfics but he would confuse it for what really was happening, like in this one he thinks this Taylor has a certain powerful being with her and that she and her close friends happened to be trolling lizard. When the asked why he was trying to get close he makes the comment of wanting to meet "the family" and learn how to do impossible math and to be turned into a lizard as well, just think of what they would think if he actually got them to think she did had a super being in her head and has turned herself into a trolling lizard. Lol, oh that would be hilarious.

And when the TLAs are just about to do something drastic and irreversible, a hole in reality appears, grows an ordinary metal door, and a cute lizard girl steps out. Saurial apologizes for the confusion and explains what happened, possibly taking Greg with her.

It turns out that Greg actually triggered long ago.
He can 'vaguely' see the absolute truth...
It really is aliens (the shards) and demons (basically from another universe). He can see that there are lizards involved somewhere... over there, I think...
His shard wants conflict, however, he is a shy, antisocial nerd. He posts on message boards and becomes abusive and violent when contradicted or challenged. (He's also a rude and horny teenager...)

We see them meeting with RCB, and she loses every point in the debate. There are no close calls, nobody is scrambling to keep on top of things, at no point is the reader ever encouraged to feel like there is any imminent or long-term danger that they will fail.
While she does lose the argument, she immediately demonstrates that even though she was told to keep her nose out of Gravtec in the strongest, clearest possible terms, she had no intent of doing so, because the first thing she did after getting back to her office was fetching Legend to stick his nose into Gravtec for her.

I shudder to think what will happen when her frustration over not being able to get any info about Gravtec overrides her good sense and she does send David to start asking questions...

The rest of the government will be very interested on why the Protectorate is so interested in a tiny company. More importantly, one that they should not be interested in and that is VITAL to national security. If RCB keeps trying to pry at GravTech, she'll have to burn some major assets(like Cauldron not being on federal agency radars).

Yes, it will be very interesting to see how DARPA and associated agencies will respond to knowledge Cauldron and its activities. I predict a shadow war of espionage and a thorough investigation into the PRT/Protectorate to be the immediate results of the U.S. government's discovery of Cauldron.

Given that Cauldron is for all intents and purposed a foreign agency, run by foreign nationalities (Doctor Mother, Contessa, *1), who has deliberately infiltrated and subverted Federal agencies of the United States of America and other countries? That they deliberately put Harbringer, of the Nine, in charge of large parts of the underground economy - and enabled him to infiltrate the world's financial system?

I think epic shitstorm is putting it mildly, and declaration of war is a not unreasonable response.

There's also a really, really easy answer - ask the Prime Asset to jam Doormaker and Clairvoyant while all of Cauldron's in a meeting off-dimension.

*1 Do we even have any idea what the Earth of origin is for Legend, Eidolon, and Alexandria? Because I'm nearly sure that statistically it's fantastically unlikely that more than one is from Earth Bet originally, and extremely unlikely even one is from Earth Bet. Never mind the Case 53's and various other plants - and I bet Taylor can isolate 'not from this dimension' subspace signatures. Also - Earth Bet USA canonically does NOT appreciate dimensional travelers.

I cannot wait until we reach that point in this story, because, as you said, the fallout will be epic.
Side note: this fallout scenario is the precisely what the Pi Man excels at writing so it should be good.

I found this on the Cauldron page of the Worm Wiki.
By extracting and refining parts of Eden's corpse, Doctor Mother and Contessa were able to produce vials that granted powers. After Scion appeared on Earth Bet in 1982, they began to more widely test those vials on terminally ill patients. Hero and Doormaker both triggered in the founders' first batch of ten vials.[19] This process could also cure subjects of their illnesses, and Cauldron subsequently provided vials to Alexandria, Eidolon, and Legend.
So I think that makes the Alexandria, Eidolon, and Legend native to Earth Bet.

If RCB keeps trying to pry at GravTech, she'll have to burn some major assets(like Cauldron not being on federal agency radars).
If Contessa has a path running to protect Cauldron from scrutiny, and she would be a fool not to, then I expect at some point she would step in and remind RCB who works for who and that stepping out of line has rather painful consequences...

Spoil sport, ruining our fun. ;) :)
We were poking around at a big 'What If' that is lurking in this story that has some colossal impact, implications, and ramifications for some of the high level power player in Worm.

Side note: What is Contessa actually do at this moment? That would be a very interesting answer. I mean RCB is aggressive pursuing information GravTech. That she has not yet contacted Contessa about the company is interesting.

I would agree, but there is just one problem with that:

"The Path has become… uncertain."

"What does that mean?"

"I have no idea."

"You have no idea?"

"I know. It worries me too..."

Some part of Taylor, or the alien communications, or the technology being developed, has confused the Path. Given the need for ultra-precision to get anywhere close to the abilities of Path to Victory, any uncertainty whatsoever could greatly inhibit the ability to predict the consequences.

So instead they would have to predict the consequences using... Common Sense! Cauldron rolls and it's a 1! Critical Fail!

In all seriousness, if Contessa's Path is having difficulty with Gravtech, Cauldron and RCB have big, huge, Major reasons to want to get information about them. They also don't have a full understanding of the consequences of actions involving them. It should be obvious that it would cause a huge amount of backlash, but with Contessa those types of consequences have been basically sidestepped the last few decades. It might catch them off guard in a way it really shouldn't, simply because it's not something they've ever really had to deal with.

But deal with it they must. Because given the hints we've seen, I suspect that we are going to see Taylor begin to design things to affect the connection between parahumans and their shards. I kind of think it would be fun to have the DWU and Gravtech end up being a 'no parahumans zone.' Not because parahumans aren't allowed, but because they cease to be parahumans while inside the zone.

Regardless, I'm really looking forward to where the story is going. It's probably my favorite currently ongoing story right now.

First, the wiki isn't a real source.
Second, even if it is, based on that, Doctor Mother and Contessa started on some planet that was not Earth Bet. Their first batch of vials that somehow managed to get them Hero and - critically - Doormaker, must therefore not have been from Earth Bet. Vials provided subsequent to Doormaker could have been given to people from any Earth that Doormaker can access, therefore... no conclusions can be drawn other than that it is nearly certain that Hero was not an Earth Bet native, since he and Doormaker were both in the 'first batch' of trials, and Doormaker is nearly certainly how Cauldron went interdimensional.

So instead they would have to predict the consequences using... Common Sense! Cauldron rolls and it's a 1! Critical Fail!

Bah, they could roll a maximum roll, and once that added their negative modifiers they'd still fail. But hey, the points they got from dumping all Wisdom and the No Common Sense Ever disadvantage bought them Contessa, Clairvouyant and Doormaker! They can't fail with those powers!
