Ok, I suspect that Taylor just went from "Prime Asset" to "Guard Her from EVERYTHING, with everything INCLUDING not just YOUR life, but the lives of your next three generations of unborn children"

When Brenden realizes Taylor can REVERSE ENGINEER TINKERTECH, I figure their Budget will go from "High Secret Billions" to "Blank Check mark 3.0"
She didn't just reverse engineer it. She made it better and made the foundation to improve it thanks to her designs that is way more valuable.

So Manhattan project 2.0?

It had taken some very careful work and a lot of thought, but she'd finally come up with a method after half a dozen failures, one of which had left an impressive scorch mark on her bench and come close to removing her eyebrows.
Well, people had been complaining that she hadn't blown herself up enough to be a true supergenius. I hope they're happy now.

True. Which makes my imagination go into giggle fits; it's not going to be long before the mass immigration of Government OPs teams are going to drown Brockton Bay in men. I SERIOUSLY doubt there will be anyone in Taylor's Neighborhood BUT Government Men before too long at this rate. And the sheer numbers of Alphabet Agencies circling the wagons are going to give the Capes more Conflict then they could EVER want.

I feel they are rapidly reaching the point where, barring Taylor being willing, rather than try to move her to some Area 51 analogue, they'll just move it to her. All of it.

That or bringing Brockton Bay's Secret Agent:Normal Resident ratio up until it's in whole percentiles.

Hm, sleep or Science Wordz? Science Wordz!

Slightly disappointed that we don't get to see Coil bash his head against DARPA, but given that I could feel the smug coming off Lisa, I'm perfectly will to accept this.

You know at some point they should read Piggot in just so that the local PRT can be authorized to go lethal on idiot gangbangers/capes as part of the local security around ASSET PRIME

I'm getting the feeling Danny and Angus will want to buy stock in a whisky distillery, and see if Amy would be willing to reinforce their livers, as Taylor will be doing this to them a 'lot.'

And I hope I didn't wake anyone up as I was reading the general's reaction to Angus's call, because I couldn't help laughing at it.

Hoping we tighten the focus on Taylor's SCIENCE! I mean, the other stuff is interesting, but the insanity of what's happening with Taylor is the real draw.

Someone needs to show Taylor a certain blog by a chemical engineer...

Things I Won’t Work With

Derek Lowe’s commentary on drug discovery and the pharma industry. An editorially independent blog from the publishers of Science Translational Medicine.

I think the results would be...interesting.:o

So Manhattan project 2.0?
hmmm well once it get's out gravtec is able to reverse engineer tinker tech I think we'll be seeing a MAJOR increase in 'must be a parahuman' from Rebecca/Alexandria and she'll probably be burning ALOT of bridges and goodwill that the PRT has among the USA government all the while the US armed forces and maybe other government departments will be happily chugging along as their lil not a parahuman miracle girl and gravtec merrily works on their projects

And now the US government actually can have invisible spies.
Or planes.
Or whatever they want to be invisible. Coffee cups? Why not.

There is no way this can go wrong.

Only discovered this story a week ago and have been mostly keeping to the Threadmarks so sorry if these have been posted before/
A couple Songs for the Prime Assent

It is a shame that Rebecca Costa-Brown has built up so much interdepartmental bad blood, imagine what Taylor could do if she could get her hands on Hero's old gear. I imagine that either the PRT or Cauldron has it locked up somewhere. I wonder if the government will start to look into ways to hire Tinkers to DARPA, if only so that Taylor can then reverse engineer it.

Let's hope that RCB steps on one toe too many and gets replaced by someone capable of playing nice. Someone willing to lend TInkers and Tinker tech to DARPA.

Next up, Taylor creates a counter measure, after-all she doesn't want any invisible agents stumbling upon her 'foreign' TV program, does she?

Suddenly I both want and don't want to see an omake where this Taylor ends up making a star gate, only to have a Lizard pop pout to see what the fuss is, and then the shenanigans that continue from there.

You know, if Piggot ever does get read in, I would not be surprised if Taylor gave her the plans for her Parahuman Detectors. At which point, I'm not sure if the good Director would be ecstatic to have such a useful tool, ticked that she was unable to get it earlier, or aprehensive when she figures out that this Teenager Knows All Of The Wards Secret Identities...

Also, if they hadn't gone after Coil preemptively he might have actually managed to do some damage. He's much more dangerous on the attack than the defense as he can just keep on trying things without anyone else realizing it, for years if necessary. But on the defense he doesn't have basically unlimited tries, and if you know his power you can double-team his timelines like happened in this story.

And it was very satisfying to watch Lisa get to go Maximum Smug on him.

I agree with the, moving her to Area 51 would cause upset and issues so let us not do that. Instead, why don't we move Area 51 to her. So the Docks? Becomes a Navy Base. Some good number of Marines for guarding/rapid reaction. A fence goes up around the whole area and the derelict buildings on the Docks border get torn down to create an open kill zone. Yes, this will tell people that important things are happening in there but it might already be to that point for anyone intelligent and paying attention.

Arcadia gets more admin and teachers who seem to be in great physical shape. Perhaps they have a polite chat with Taylor and Danny and request/suggest what can they do that the two of them are OK with in regards to panic buttons and armored clothing and subdermal tracers and whatever else Taylor might suggest.

That is the important thing, it looks like the Powers That Be do understand that the trick is to not be heavy handed with Taylor and Danny, the trick is to be understanding and polite and explain the situation and take what they say seriously. I give DARPA and the other feds points for this and I'm sure there is a group somewhere who's job is to keep away any bureaucrat who thinks their opinion matters more than Taylors.

At this point Taylor is going to no longer have a budget of "yes," she is going to have a budget of "actually at this point we need to go through YOU for OUR budget."

She isn't the Goose that lays the golden eggs, she is the goose that lays the platinum eggs, that inhales green house gasses, excess carbon dioxide and general air pollution and exhales oxygen, ozone sent right back up into the ozone layer, and a harmless gas that cures cancer and obesity, her feathers rapidly shed at no harm to her but provide clean renewable energy and free unlimited high speed wifi, her crap makes for such an ideal fertilizer that it solves both world hunger and deforestation all on its own, and she eats the plastic and trash from the Pacific garbage Gyre. Oh and her very presence globally reverses extinction/endangerment of animals.

Yes, this is much healthier and feels a lot less like shouting at walls.
The most upsetting thing about the initial "argument" was that, as I saw it, we had two groups having two different arguments. Not two sides of the same argument, two fundamentally different arguments.
There's no middle ground to be found there, no discussion, compromise, learning or acceptance.

Edit: Oh hello chapter, didn't see you there!
Well here we go indeed. The PRIME ASSET is already important enough to get full capitals, at this point do they start increasing the font size?

Cloaking, flight, inertial compensators, pocket-sized megawatt power supplies, Parahuman and tinkertech detectors/scanners and nowhere to go but up.
You forgot the room temperature super conductor. Never forget the room temp super conductor.

EDIT: OOOF phone autocorrupt is a menace.

Well, Coil was handled. That's nice and he is entirely in the background. I wonder what tipped them off. Likely his professional mercs and not appearing to do anything. They didn't want a long term planner around. Better take him out ASAP.

I'm wondering if the Undersiders just got recruited. I could see them using Lisa for Counter Intel. Brian could be filtered into a bodyguard role. There are many areas of the government where he could be quietly slipped without raising flags.

It's really Regent and Rachel that I'm wondering what they decided to do about them. For Regent, he may be cheap to bribe. Just pay for him to have an apartment/house elsewhere or where they would like him. I could see him quietly living his life in the background. I could also see them hiring him as an external guard for various locations.

Rachel has the most government issues. Without the rest of the team, she is rather harmless.

I'm actually looking forward to Taylor asking Amy over. I can't wait for Taylor to find out just how many security checks that they need to run on folks. Amy is a known factor and having the nation's best healer as her friend would likely be seen as a good thing. It would also be seen as bringing a tad bit more cape attention than they'd like.

Emily will be going on a massive mole hunt. With her department getting cleaned up, it'll likely become vastly more effective. Can't wait for Cauldron to be blindsided by Coil's removal from the board.
