Classified, so yes.
This brings up a very good point.
Taylor's AG tech is based on maintaining a distance from a set reference point and/or accelerating to or from said point. The reference point is always a significant body, with enough gravity to affect the object.
Any bets momentum is conserved by an exchange between the device and the anchor point, and that once far enough away to not be affected by that body's gravity it can no longer be used as a reference point?
Earth orbit? No problem, Earth is a good reference for that.
I kinda wonder how high up the reports on Taylor are going. On the one hand, there's always the urge to secrecy to make sure no-one takes the new toy away from you, but on the other there is the urge to show off, especially when there's prizes for it. The PRT likely uses their heroes as showpieces there, so I imagine there's a fair chance the Pentagon wants to sidle up, nudge the President and say "We got us a genius and she makes shit straight out of comic books, but we can copy the plans and study her math so that our scientists can actually improve stuff. Wanna meet her and see our new invisible flying railgun tanks?"
Anybody who suggests that is probably demoted to the junior janitor in charge of the dirty public restrooms. They really don't want to let the PRT/Protectorate to see Taylor because while they know she's not a parahuman, most people wouldn't believe a 15 year old is that smart without jumping on the idea of 'powers!' and that's a can of worms they really don't want to open. They are very careful to make sure the PRT can't muscle in on this golden goose because they have spent twenty years having their resources poached and being insulted.
I think it's more that Taylor looks at it and goes "hey, this shouldn't work — why is this block of cheese pretending to be a flux capacitor? Never mind, I've got a spare that I can use".I also see that you decided that tinkertech is "badly built alientech" instead of random assortments of parts crumped together, effects supplied by the shard manipulating reality as normal. Which is not quite a "blackbox", as actual alien tech, even badly made could be dissasembled and reassembled and still work, unlike tinkertech. If Taylor succeeds in building a copy, without the tinker shard responsible for the base device sabotaging it, then tinkertech really is not blackboxed.
Essentially, she can see the inputs and outputs of the "blackboxed"/"shard-powered" components, and reverse engineer something to fulfil the same requirements via actual SCIENCE!
As far as I remember(*), she LOOKED at Squealer's tinkertech cloaking device, derived the function from what she was seeing on the board, and came up with 'wow, that's inefficient, barely working'. She didn't have to do the input/output cycle for that piece of tech.I think it's more that Taylor looks at it and goes "hey, this shouldn't work — why is this block of cheese pretending to be a flux capacitor? It's less the PRT, more the more senior defence staff. Certain people will have clearance to know, and there's only so much that can be hidden when huge budget numbers are floating around. Remember what the Pentagon really is - it's the worlds biggest office building, and it contains one of the world's biggest bureaucracies. Most of its' day-to-day may be secret, but most of the people there have some level of clearance, and at least some are ambitious enough to look for semi-legal routes to use it - help a patron get an inside lane on something, pay off a backer for past assistance, etc. Patronage games and politics still exist in the Pentagon, and even high level info on "DARPA has developed commercially viable superconductors" is huge. Even leaving that aside, if the Pentagon asks for more money, diversion of troops, the swinging of political and legal power to block others, the why will need to leave the building to some degree - "We have Antigrav tech" leads to "how do you have antigrav tech?" and a science advisor being asked to explain it to the President, etc. One of the reasons why things like faking the moon landing is so unbelievable is the sheer number of people who would need to keep it quiet is implausible. Hiding who Taylor is is one thing, hiding that there is someone like Taylor, however, is nearly impossible.Anybody who suggests that is probably demoted to the junior janitor in charge of the dirty public restrooms. Optionally, Squealer's Shard is a lazy SOB, and decided that with the exceedingly low quality of her supplies, it could let her build normal designs with no energy expenditures from its side, since the cheap materials would fail in short order anyway. Taylor getting a look at its work was an OCP issue. Oopsie!I also see that you decided that tinkertech is "badly built alientech" instead of random assortments of parts crumped together, effects supplied by the shard manipulating reality as normal.
Do not forget that Taylors scanner can look further into the blackbox than nonTaylortechI think it's more that Taylor looks at it and goes "hey, this shouldn't work — why is this block of cheese pretending to be a flux capacitor? Never mind, I've got a spare that I can use".

*KRA-KHA-THOOOM!*
Obligatory THE TECHNO QUEEN! *KRA-KHA-THOOOM!* meme is obligatory.
You seem to be forgetting that Armsmaster and Renick have already seen Taylor inside Gravtec running tests and doing work. I find it extremely unlikely that they won't put together "Exactly one fifteen year old in the building, running experiments" and "Gravtec has a supergenius".Taylor may end up with nicknames like "The Source" and "The Prime Asset", and she may be treated like Witsec and the CIA had a classified baby in terms of anonymising everything about her, but "We have something in our back pocket" is gonna slip out, even if the details are kept quiet, and there are certain people who can ask and the Pentagon doesn't get to say no to.
Armsmaster is distracted by OOOH-Shiney!, and Renick is likely to assume she's an intern, or the kid of the boss (nepotism is a thing, even in high security govenment funded places) who managed to be reliable enough to do office work. You seem to be forgetting that Armsmaster and Renick have already seen Taylor inside Gravtec running tests and doing work. They may not consider it likely at first, but they'll start paying attention to her.
The irony is that the Tinker worldview likely helps there. They know that DARPA wouldn't say "No Parahumans here" unless they were certain, and a fifteen year old? They could only pull this stuff off with a Parahuman power. It's basically "If you hear hoofprints, think horses, not Zebras" - most likely source of Antigrav is a Parahuman. Next most likely is some Professor finally making a breakthrough after decades of study. Then just some inventor that got lucky. Newbie polymath is statistically almost zero. They may be confused as to the why of her presence, but they aren't likely to make the jump to assuming she's running things. Although, ironically, as the number of inventions increases she becomes more plausible. Someone spitting out inventions like that is so implausible that they are outside the scope of normal probability - whoever it is just... is utterly abnormal, and at that point, why assume that any of the normal assumptions would apply? You seem to be forgetting that Armsmaster and Renick have already seen Taylor inside Gravtec running tests and doing work. But would open Gravtec up to PRT interference. Nobody wants Becky CB in the house. That is sort of point I had in mind when I suggested that the U. S. Government might round up Toybox and Uber & Leet to work for Gravtech. Such a course of action would provide Taylor with a significant source of inspiration.
Again, her work was going around the university before DARPA got involved. Just like the basics of her work will not remain secret, the PRT will put two and two together. The irony is that the Tinker worldview likely helps there.
