[X] Centipede gets to pick its own name.

[X] Attempt to negotiate (or ignore them if negotiation seems hopeless) unless they show themselves to be hostile. If they do kill them.

[X] Plan basic first steps:
-[X] Have the pixies heal the centipede so it is back to full health again.
-[X] Send the centipede out into the immediate area of the dungeon. It should look for anything useful there and bring it back to us.
-[X] Excavate a corridor (4*1) with a room (6*6) at the end from our current room. And claim the room. (50 mana?)
-[X] Move our core to the new room.
-[X] Have the pixies use their plant growth magic to cover the walls in vines and include covering the corridor to new core room. If they need vines to do so have the centipede look for some.

No need for an excessively long plan here I think. One room gives a place to have a fight without immediate risk to our core and some vines to conceal the corridor could help prevent intruders from simply rushing past our guards and taking us out directly. Once this is done we can see what to do next.

I've come back home now, and would just like to make a couple things clearer: common enemies won't identify the monsters as part of you and thus will not aim directly for your crystal; you only have as much mana as stated in the end of the chapter, right now, 5, so for this plan of yours it would be several days until you can get the first of those rooms ready (unless you receive mana besides your natural generation, of course); the centipede can be given orders, but in the end it'll be up to Sereg to follow or not them.

I'm wondering if leveling up our centipede will give us access to some poison ability. After all, centipedes are known for their poisonous bite.

It is possible, while it's also possible to become simply bigger and meaner, to learn and use magic, or even to mix the options. In the end, evolution for any creature (not only Soul Bound ones) depends on experience, and I don't mean only the number, but also what it lives, what it experiences. Of course, Soul Bound can choose what they experience, and thus they have plenty more chance to learn new and different things ;)

Actually there are a couple of critical issues with the vote as is in this regard... Namely:

- Note that it never prohibits eating pixies or whatever. It prohibits harming the dungeon not harming its other inhabitants.
- It compels that the creature should follow orders of intelligent members of the dungeon... Completely ignoring that Soulbound monsters tend to become intelligent members of the dungeon. The first player that shouts "never give me orders" to the other soulbound monsters is de facto the tyrant among them.

So while the three rules of robotics reference is nice and all it is quite poorly applied here.

Sorry for the long wait before replying.

Yes, in terms of a literal definition contract, the wording leaves a lot of exploitable loopholes. Luckily (and unluckily), the "contract" doesn't work in that fashion anyway, and it's implied that we can redefine and clarify things later on. The contract seems to be a quirk of how the dungeon's will interacts with outside creatures who agree to serve the dungeon, rather than a literal binding that cannot be changed once both parties agree.

However, the fact that actual people will be in control complicates things on many levels, for now I'd like to see how things work out before making any further judgements.

[X] Negotiate and try to have it as part of you.
[X] Excavate - Dig a tunnel at a right angle to the entrance from the first room. Length 6
[X] New Room - At the end of the first tunnel. Have the Centipede reside here with the two pixies
[X] Excavate - Dig a tunnel at a right angle from where the first tunnel breaches the new room. Length 6.
[X] New Room - At the end of the second tunnel.
[X] Move the heart to the second new room
[X] Create two Elfling Wasps. Have them wait in the dungeon entrance room. In the case of hostiles they are to fight at range as they retreat to the second room if they cannot dispatch the intruder immediately. Then gang up on intruders with the Centipede and Pixies there.

We don't want direct line of sight access to our dungeon heart. At least two right angle turns.

You could do that with a bend in the hallway we are digging... Plus there really isn't a point to that if you decide to do your main fighting in the second room.

In the end two rooms will cost us a LOT of mana while we still have very little income. Your plan will take weeks or even months to complete unless we get lucky. And note that you are summoning minions last, if there is a threat that shows up in that time they'll be up against what we have now. You're not even moving the core out of the first room ASAP since it'll only move once the second room is done.

Entry Room, Boss Room, Heart Room.

Thats the layout. Pretty linear, but it gives distance for our range based fighters to fully utilize their mana before making a stand in the boss room with the centipede

And maybe that is a good idea eventually... But right now the way you do things means it'll be a very long time before your plan completes. And since you buy said ranged units last it is both somewhat pointless and dangerous in the meanwhile.

Better to keep our plan simpler so we can get it done sooner. One room to fight in and one room for the core will give us some added security without taking up too much time. That means we can start summoning more units far earlier.

So, I was planning to let you guys discover by yourselves, but now it seems to me a better idea to disclose some more of the building process. A room is not claimed, it is made "as a room" with a basic space of 5x5x2 meters, and the reason it is made separetely from excavation is that rooms give you mana over time. Also, since this is your first floor, a room here will cost 10 Mn. Any of the plans will take a while to happen, and there will be dice rolled for if something happens in the meanwhile, but this time could be cut down depending on Sereg's choice on what to do with the Centipede, as an example, simply going outside and bringing grass, fruits and tree branches would already give you more mana, and new things you can create.

Ah, well that does reduce the mana cost significantly so I'm going to adjust the plan I made a bit...I hope that the votes that were made before either change to the new version or count for the new version.

@RandomDwarf , @san , @ConfusedPotato Do you guys mind the changes I made? It is mostly some specification and adjustments related to how the mechanics work out.

So is there any reason not to spam as many rooms as we can afford to make?

Limits and other precautions, since rooms give you +1 daily mana, while killing a single creature on a pixie level will give you 3~5 mana.

Unfortunately RL has gotten in the way, and I won't be able to write todays update. Tomorrow, same time as the other days, I can guarantee it. Sorry, guys =/

Well, for me:

[x] Dig hole to use as home and trap
[x] Name: Scuttle

So grass is important?
Monday, Dungeon Date 01/01/0001

-------------------------------

The centipede, Scuttle, it insists, starts to dig a hole near the entrance, while the pixies heal it. You focus yourself on digging your own hole, although this is more of a corridor, using all your mana to make a small passage of 2,5x1x1 with a bend for another corridor of the same size. It is small, and you think a person couldn't pass through it... This thought also gives you a bit of a headache, after all, what IS a person?

Doesn't matter, you decide, as your light almost fades and you yawn. Maybe using all your mana at once wasn't that good an idea, you feel tired... You decide to take a break and sleep a little.

When you wake up a day has passed, and a lil bit of mana has recovered. You need more mana. Before anything else, you do need more mana. Thus, you ask Scuttle to bring things from outside to be absorbeb, and he more than readily jumps at the chance.

Without any of you knowing what brings more mana or other benefits, he first kill and bring a couple of giant ants, closer in size to house cats. How you know that, or what are house cats, are other misteries to the growing list. The mana is good, with only two ants you make your second room, and your crystal automatically displace itself to it. Your guess is that this has something to do with how far you are from the entrance. A little mana is left, but Scuttles left even before the room was made, bringing some grass, roots and twigs. Not as much mana is absorbed, but now you have plenty to stay awake.

You had a nice idea, of everything covered with vines, but none exist as far as Scuttles know, and he has been living his whole life in this region. So, at sundown of the second day, you finish our first steps. Yey! Now, what to do?

-------------------------------

Scuttle is a nice name, yeah it is, it has a nice vibe, and it reminds itself that it scuttles! So Scuttle scuttles through the dungeon. Yep. You dig a hole, it is a home, and a trap, things will fall down or get stuck and then you eat them! Actually, you feel no hunger. Neither thirst. Is this normal? You also doesn't feel tired or sleepy, you just keep moving like you'll never stop! The dungeon seems to sleep, though, so maybe you'll come back to sleeping? The small things, pixie's, your mind tell you, have finished healing and are flying, playing around with each other. That seems fun.

You basically stay in the hole, waiting for prey to fall, for hours on end... When you notice, night has passed and morning has come, the dungeon awakens and you are feeling the boredom corrode your will. You never felt this before, thus when the dungeon asks for you to get things from outside you jump at the chance, eager for something new. Ants are easy, they made good food when small in numbers, but now you don't feel hunger, so you just drop them at the dungeon floor. You also notice that outside you can still feel tired. Aparently, staying away from the dungeon take back some of the advantages.

After the second trip the dungeon gets pensive, and thus you decide to not leave yet, see if it has any fun ideas, or if you have some new fun ideas!

-------------------------------

New corridor and new room, Mana Well +1.
New templates:
Type: Ant
Level: 1

Life: 5
Attack: 1 (Cut)
Defenses: 1
Specials:
All common insects are capable of walking on walls and other vertical surfaces, even their enemy bodies.
Strange grass that stops mana from the earth rising to the air, changing the environment from where it grows. Most of the time this change makes the grass, insects and some other plants grow faster and to a higher limit, resulting in giant variants. Inside the dungeon, though, since the mana is naturally regulated by the crystal core, it becomes "just a common grass", even though it has higher mana in it's composition

Mana Reserves: 0007

What is your new plan?
[] Make new creatures!
-[] Which ones? How many?
[] Hunt new things from outside!
-[] Safely or fastly? Anything specific?
[] Talk to Scuttles, he can talk, you can talk, you think it can be fun.
-[] Want to ask something specific about the outside world?
[] Build new things!
-[] What?
[] Just wait and grow your mana until you can do something bigger.

____________________________________________________________________________________________

So sorry for the delay, but things happen... Now that you got to absorb it you know why there are giant insects in the region, they are kind of the main threat around the cave, and completely non-magical, they aren't even monsters, though some of them can fight monsters (like Scuttles, for example). Your plan was... Completed alot faster than expected, it seems :B Thanks for reading :D
