While Devouring is a great finisher, it does have the flaw of charge up time. Plus, Lamenting is much more on theme and super spooky, and contributes to my guiding philosophy of Vote Towards Things That Make Nemo Interesting.

I was trying to think of what the Lamenting Cero reminded me of, other than the obvious, and realized it was Screaming Mimis, a WW2 model of German artillery that made a distinctive wail when fired and was used to deliver "smoke screens" and rockets.

Devouring Cero works strictly on the basis of recent releases of energy. It gains no benefit from being in a spiritual world like Hueco Mundo.

If you want an in-setting rationale for it, think of ambient reiatsu as "bound" to its environment, and recently released reiatsu as "loose," and the Cero can only drain that loose reiatsu.

The thing that sticks out in my mind most about Zommari, was him starring in this hilarious omake in the anime where he and Byakuya flash-stepped behind each other out of Las Noches, across the sands and off into infinity.

It inspired the sounds made by TIE Fighters in Star Wars, actually. Lucas watched a documentary about Stalingrad and decided they'd make a great noise for a laser, only for the final sound to morph into something they used for scary spacecraft dives, like the artificial siren wail made by German super dive bombers over London.

So, yeah. Scary noise, eerie smoke, indistinct shapes, and absolutely no idea where we are.

Sounds about right.

Kinda like the smokescreen thing. I wonder where we can take that sort of Cero in the higher skill levels.
 
I'm thinking about an omake (maybe more) where Nemo and Mantis join a group of like-minded Hollows, who sell out Mantis in order to flee from an approaching Barragan.

Thoughts? @Omicron would that be acceptable?
