In Fine, Solum Est Tibi (A Quest in Rome, During The Fall of the Republic)

Also I read somewhere that whoever captured the enemy commander would receive first cut of the loot?

Is there any accuracy to that statement?
Well I don't know about Roman looting practices, but when the king Francis I of France was captured by a rank and file Spanish arquebusier, the soldier got half the gold that the Spanish Crown got out of the royal rescue...

So it seems reasonable enough...

So we get half the loot from the city we may sack.

Excellent.

[X]Gather Volunteers to Storm the Wall: You are going to gather a group of madmen who want glory and honor who wish to take the city. All you need to do is to figure out a way onto the walls without requiring a great deal of resources.

We may die, but if we do, let it be glorious, and have Sabaton write a song about it.

3.3 Battle of Theodosia Part 2: In Honest Hearts
3.3 Battle of Theodosia Part 2: In Honest Hearts

Pip was smoking something, a piece of burning bush that he rolled up into a joint as he surveyed the battlefield. He was not impressed at the gaggle of men, a near-century in total, as they stood around. A few were scared of what was to come, being picked out from a line and told to follow their tribune. The ones who had not volunteered, but were needed for this assault. But there were also the ones who had chosen to come onto this mission. The young, the stupid, and above all else… the warriors among them. "What is it Pip?" You asked as you saw Pip take a drag, inhaling the smoke, and sighed.

"Twenty of these boys should not even be here." He stated bluntly. "The ones you chose, the ones you needed to fill out the ranks." He spat. "They should go back to their cohorts. There are ten here perhaps that will be useful to you. And maybe five…" He then took a moment to look at the five he was referring to, who were studying the potential routes, including that one Leigonary who gave you trouble all that time ago, during the interlude for the invasion.

Severianus and his fellow… "Battle Brothers" As he called them, were talking among themselves. They were the men who would be counted on, besides Pip himself of course. "That you can rely on."

"Perhaps, but that does not mean we can storm the walls with only ten men. We will be overwhelmed." You stated.

"Perhaps, but you would have a chance to fight your way out." He replied as he threw his burning herb to the ground, and stomped on it with his foot. You frowned at him, and he shrugged. "What, I need to take the edge off?"

"And you can't do that with just being a normal person?" You asked.

Pip scoffed. "And you think I am normal?"

"Good point." You replied as you stood up. "Come now Pip, we need to inspect the men."

You had looked at the 75 volunteers that were gathered in front of you, as you made sure your helmet was on your head and on well.

There was so much you felt wrong but felt so right. This was the cream of the crop of the legion. They would secure the walls, and they will survive until they were victorious or they were dead.

Pip groaned as he walked behind you.

The Legion was equipped well enough, their pilla were resting on their shields, their armor, not sparkling or new by any means, was covered in mud, and while they have been maintained, oiled, and cleaned over the course of several days, there was still the filthiness, the grim and dirt.

But once you were in front of them, their fear, what little there was that they tried to hide behind their discipline, was there. You could feel it in their nervousness. From their quietness, and their inability to look at you.

A woman, perhaps, or their commander, you did not know.

So much was at stake, but you couldn't help but feel the ear.

And like Mars, you needed to inspire them, in a way that they could.

What do you say to them?:

AN: A little on the short side, but I wanted it short before the main event. Storming the walls.

Yeah I was going to get straight to the battle. then you all decided to come up with funny slogans and now you all made me want you to give a speech.

[X]Write in: "Blood of Rome! Sons of Rome, Hear me!

I see fear has taken some of you. That is well, for I would not fight
with the fools and madmen who would so think a roman life to be a cheap
thing. But take heart, sons of Rome, for you stand not alone but with
family, ringed by kin who would kill for you. Armed and armoured as
Rome's finest. Take heart legionnaires! For kin who stand with
you will soon be kin by blood and steel! by Fire and Oath!

There stand walls where we will prove our kinship! Where we will test
our might against theirs, and I do not doubt our victory this day.

For we are the Strength of Rome! A mighty Legion unmatched in discipline,
in valor, in courage! When they heard of YOUR arrival they trembled
and quaked and hid behind their walls at the very sound of our boots,
look at them now, these soft Greeks who know not of your strength,
these soft Greeks who know not of your resolve, these soft Greeks who
we will put to the sword TODAY!

Quivering behind those walls are men who deny us glory, who deny us
honour, who deny ROME. Her glory we know to be unrivalled, denied by
men who think they are our equals, who dare think they are our betters.

We are the Wolves of Rome! And we will not be denied! We will take their
walls for our own! their city as our own! their wealth as our own! Let
us prove to them that the only thing they are superior at is dying, dying
and wailing and mewling like newborns in the dark.

We will prove to them that Rome is unmatched, we will prove to them that our
gods stand with us, that this legion will not fail. So Let us assail these walls
and prove to them that they cannot deny our glory, our honour and with this
victory claim Eternity! For us! For the LEGION! FOR ROOOOOOME!"

@Magoose Tell me if you think it's too long.

[X] "What will the scholars back in Roma speak of when they tell of this day?
They will speak of such rampant slaughter that Mars Gravidus himself will stir from his throne to watch!
They will say that armies of wolves descended from the grass sea to feast on the Pontic dead!
So raise your swords with me now, brothers of the republic.
For today is the day we carve our names into Legend!
