Yeah in my experience playing CK2 (I consider myself something of a ruler, myself) foreign royalty fetch a good ransom price for their troubles.
Domestic royalty on the other hand...

Oh gosh. Gino's going to be around Nunally. And be Gino. And one of the few we have that can keep up with her. And one of the first boys she'll really be interacting with.



....I'm not sure whether Marianne will approve....or ask to give him some training....

So who's exactly in our dastardly group? Lelouch for obvious reasons, Jeanne the babysitter, Kallen the rowdy pilot, along with possibly sister Nunnally who is also really good at piloting, Shinozaki the ninja, Kenshin the madman, Madison his sidekick, and Greta the new crazy water woman?

... How old is Gino? he's a pilot so he is at least old enough to be in the military so 25+ years old compared to Nunally who isn't 18 yet.

Unless things've changed, he was somewhere near 18 or so in canon R2, I thought.

Here, he should be younger, but still around Lulu's age. I also can't remember if it was that he was (also here) a military pilot, or just a civilian one one that could fly a supersonic prototype jet.

Either way, there was a good reason why the Tristan was his steed in canon, and not anyone else's, even if the Rounds were horribly underused in R2 overall.

Nobles don't play by 'age rules' anymore than royals do, really. If your son/daughter is going into the military, you can expect them to 'graduate' private tutoring at around age 12/13 and enter cadet training in the branch they want to at 14. Gino's coming up on his 18th birthday later this year and he's something of a prodigy even then. Full knight training and a fighter pilot, even with the fact that nobles and royals get special dispensation to skip a lot of training and ranks, that's pretty damn impressive.

I'll make a note to have a personal action next turn for both Kallen and Greta to go through at least a remedial course. Can't be this turn since Greta will be familiarizing herself with her actual duties in the remaining months.

Edit: All of this is, assuming, that you keep her of course.

It's one thing if we just want Kallen to be our hammer but if she's going to be a squad leader or higher she needs it. Since it sounds like she has no formal training.
