Umm not to rain on the parade, but the german leg. 18 infantry gun, a superb infantry gun used throughout ww2 because proposed replacements just were not better enough to change - weighed 400 kg.
Light Artillery just is not in the 50kg range. Especially not at our tech level. The leg. 18's crew of 5 could not -carry- it, but they could move it ready to fire at walking pace on its wheels, which is what mattered.

[X] EVERYTHING???? EVERYTHINNNGGGG!!!!!!

Edit: Has the Kaiser decided to replace the General Staff with his Small Arms Commission or something? Aren't we treading on their toes?

The Brandt 60mm mortar is about 56kg, which is probably closer to what he's thinking about.

There's also the French 37mm from WW1 which was only about 108 kg. Not the greatest, but can still throw an explosive at things.

I'm thinking light mortar, given the immediate need for something on the front line to suppress MGs and the like, rather than pack howitzer.

My plan's not receiving votes, so I'm thinking of switching. I'm a bit torn though.

Plan Unicorn: 300 grams filler for a hand thrown grenade strikes me as trying to make a 50 cal service rifle. It's excessive and impractical. Additionally, I'd like the crew served light artillery competition to be completely distinct from the man portable grenade launcher. Additionally no flamethrower request.

Plan KISS: No flamethrower request. Additionally, I'm concerned that requiring both an impact and timer fuse on every hand grenade will excessively complicate the designs.

Plan Everything: No questionable requirements, but that's just because it is vague. On one hand that can permit truly innovate designs, but I'm concerned QM might ream us for that. Additionally, no real emphasis on using the existing obsolete rifles as the basis of a grenade launcher.

Currently leaning towards Plan Everything.

Since I do some of the gun design, I'll say that Plan Unicorn locks out the worst of what I sent in; conversely it also makes terrible hand grenades. Plan everything lets all my stuff through, including QUALITY IDEA COMRADE equipment.

Choose wisely~

A flamethrower doesn't meet the suppression requirement we've been asked to address. They're incredibly short ranged and finicky weapons with the technology of the era.

This situation... We, IC, don't know what will be ideal solution to problem. We have ideas, I suspect our arms factories also got ideas, we will ask and test for anything plausible they can bring us.

Uh, why is this quest tagged "Mature"?
I think it was the "testing pistols on live horses" bit, but it seems pretty minor compared to other reasons for such a tag.
Because the upcoming testing phases will also include more animal experimentation (in simulated blockhouses,) and well that's going to be just a bit more graphic even as dry as this is. So I'm erring on the safe side here.

More like I can't be bothered to do the research to accurately portray Fernidad Porsche yelling "IT NEEDS TO BE BIGGER, HANS!" while the Daimler-Benz guys sit in a corner throwing cards at a hat that Krupp is wearing upside-down while Skoda legs it for the treeline.
can I sig you?
