You Think, Therefore You Are (A 5E D&D Slime Quest)

Thank you both for sharing your knowledge! I'm curious, you could train and teach tricks to War Dogs in earlier versions of D&D. Is there no rule for that in 5.0?

I'm not sure why Intelligence would be our other main stat?

I joked about Spells (with some seriousness on research), but Int determines Skill Points. It's vital for a good skill monkey, like a rogue or bard... unless 5e changes that too. I forget; I prefer 3.5, and my memory is terrible wherever I'm not 100% invested (learning the Dresden Files System, all the Exalted Supplements, and the Wraith: The Oblivion setting details also monopolizes my memory. Plus, RL)

@sidestory gimmie a stat block that doesn't suck so I can steer this ship away from rocky shore

Here are two good builds, personal preference lies with TGwI's build over mine, over since you prefered a strong Consti I included it anyway

Bard
Str: 8
Dex: 14
Con: 11 + 2
Int: 13 + 1
Wis: 8
Cha: 15

Skill points aren't a thing in 5e. Your bonus in something is determined by the relevant stat, if you have proficiency or expertise, the current bonus given by proficiency (which goes from 2 to 6 based on level), and any relevant features or magic items.

I think this won for spells.

-[X] (Blade Ward, Vicious Mockery/ Disguise Self, Speak With Animals, Sleep, Thunderwave/ Detect Thoughts, Silence)

Depends on whether we count for sets or for individual spells, but given the intend of the vote I would probably go with this as well, if the spell plan would have been valid, however it has to many level 2 spells and not enough level 1 spells

However if @Novus Ordo Mundi wants to go with individual spell it would be this combination

Cantrip: Blade Ward, Vicious Mockery
1st Level Spells: Sleep, Thunderwave, Hideous Laughter, Disguise Self, Speak with Animals, which are the Spells of the winning vote & Healing word that is the spell with the second most votes
2nd Level Spell would be either Detect Thoughts, Silence or Enhance Ability who all tie

as for the rest it would look like this @Novus Ordo Mundi
[x] The Almost Nimble Bard (15 in Charisma, 14 in Dexterity)
[x] [Skill] Deception
[x] [Skill] Stealth
[x] [Skill] Persuasion
[x] [Skill] Sleight of Hand
[x] [Expertise] Performance
[x] [Expertise] Deception
[x] [Language] Undercommon
[x] [Tool] Thieves' Tools

You'd have an easier time with plan format.

Everything after mastiff with 7 and up votes wins and for spells I have no idea.

True. Problem is, I told everyone it wasn't already.

Probably in the future, I'll go with plan formats.

Anyway, I have time to sit down and actually look at things.

Right, and thanks. 5 Points [Insert House Here]. Detect Thoughts will be the 2nd Level spell chosen, as I'm sure Bard Blob wants to get to know how to humanoid better.

I will try and get the full Character Sheet out today before I head out for a live outing of sportsball. (A day off. How novel. :D) No update, but I can tell you that the next vote is the setting. Some of the choices are Ravenloft, Ravnica, Eberron, possibly the same location as an older quest of mine, America (One Nation Under Pelor), and a few other places both offical and homebrew. Realistically, I'm planning on ten choices to pick from.

Actually, there are 3 votes for Pandemoneous Ivy, which should be added to their vote. I think Thieves Tools still wins, because there are a couple votes for it counted separatedly in the tally, but it's a 9 votes vs 8 votes difference. Everyrhing else I didn't bother counting.

...

Right. Give me some time to double check this then.

Current Winning Vote
Alright. I have dived deep into a whole mess of votes to try and figure this mess out. From now on, any vote on more then one thing will be a plan.

Skills
Deception - 15
Stealth - 13
Persuasion: 8
Animal Handling: 8

Tools:
Thieves Tool: 9

Language:
Undercommon - By a lot

Experience:
Preform: 11
Deception and Animal Handling - Tied at 8. Deception gets the nod, when the amounts of people voting for the skill is considered.

Stat Block

Tie at 8. PI's block is a more filled out version of Almost Nimble Bard, which has the same Dex and Cha.
(Str: 8 Dex: 14 Con: 11 + 2 Int: 13 + 1 Wis: 8 Cha: 15). I'll go with that to save myself the time.

Spell Block

Cantrip: Blade Ward, Vicious Mockery
1st Level Spells: Sleep, Thunderwave, Hideous Laughter, Disguise Self, Speak with Animals.
2nd Level Spell: Detect Thoughts.
