Thank you both for sharing your knowledge! I'm curious, you could train and teach tricks to War Dogs in earlier versions of D&D. Is there no rule for that in 5.0?
I don't know if there is an explicit mechanic for it. A lot of things are left to DM discretion.Thank you both for sharing your knowledge! I'm curious, you could train and teach tricks to War Dogs in earlier versions of D&D. Is there no rule for that in 5.0?
For those taking [Common], we actually already know that. We know Common, Abyssal, and Sylvan.
@sidestory gimmie a stat block that doesn't suck so I can steer this ship away from rocky shore
Skill points aren't a thing in 5e. Your bonus in something is determined by the relevant stat, if you have proficiency or expertise, the current bonus given by proficiency (which goes from 2 to 6 based on level), and any relevant features or magic items.I joked about Spells (with some seriousness on research), but Int determines Skill Points. It's vital for a good skill monkey, like a rogue or bard... unless 5e changes that too. I forget; I prefer 3.5, and my memory is terrible wherever I'm not 100% invested (learning the Dresden Files System, all the Exalted Supplements, and the Wraith: The Oblivion setting details also monopolizes my memory. Plus, RL)
Could someone tell me what won? I'm being swamped by real life and important decision, like how many Trickstar Corobanes I need to run.
I think this won for spells.
-[X] (Blade Ward, Vicious Mockery/ Disguise Self, Speak With Animals, Sleep, Thunderwave/ Detect Thoughts, Silence)
You'd have an easier time with plan format.
Everything after mastiff with 7 and up votes wins and for spells I have no idea.
Depends on whether we count for sets or for individual spells, but given the intend of the vote I would probably go with this as well, if the spell plan would have been valid, however it has to many level 2 spells and not enough level 1 spells
However if @Novus Ordo Mundi wants to go with individual spell it would be this combination
Cantrip: Blade Ward, Vicious Mockery
1st Level Spells: Sleep, Thunderwave, Hideous Laughter, Disguise Self, Speak with Animals, which are the Spells of the winning vote & Healing word that is the spell with the second most votes
2nd Level Spell would be either Detect Thoughts, Silence or Enhance Ability who all tie
as for the rest it would look like this @Novus Ordo Mundi
[x] The Almost Nimble Bard (15 in Charisma, 14 in Dexterity)
[x] [Skill] Deception
[x] [Skill] Stealth
[x] [Skill] Persuasion
[x] [Skill] Sleight of Hand
[x] [Expertise] Performance
[x] [Expertise] Deception
[x] [Language] Undercommon
[x] [Tool] Thieves' Tools
Actually, there are 3 votes for Pandemoneous Ivy, which should be added to their vote. I think Thieves Tools still wins, because there are a couple votes for it counted separatedly in the tally, but it's a 9 votes vs 8 votes difference. Everyrhing else I didn't bother counting.
Cantrip: Blade Ward, Vicious Mockery
1st Level Spells: Sleep, Thunderwave, Hideous Laughter, Disguise Self, Speak with Animals.
2nd Level Spell: Detect Thoughts.
A level 3 Bard still has only 1 level 2 spell and not two, unless of course you decided to overwrite it with GM Fiat for the sake of simplicity
I thought Detect Thoughts was the only level 2 on that list. Unless I missed one of the other ones?
I think I'm okay with this compromise, hopefully we can adopt a pupper later!
To be fair, if the dog vote won, it'd only make sense that the bard had a dog himself... and we would have eaten its owner.
