You Are: A sector admiral of a strained imperium.

Or gun for us. Really hard.

Oh please.

We just smashed 2% of the entire NASP navy and stole it, whilst leaving one of the richest worlds on the border a screaming mess that would make Imhotep look functional by comparison. The NASP is now going to be screamed at for aid in rebuilding, whilst screaming back at CM for their rogue action that precipitated the entire debacle. Seriously, pessimism is one thing, but at the very least it's realistic. Sure, people will gun for us, but they're not going to come looking to kill us unless they have vast superiority, and at the end of the day the NASP isn't going to want to push this after losing the entire mobile force assigned to the Rana Salient as well as most of their Sector Fleet.

I'm just pointing out that we're probably not quite at the "oh, we heard he's in command, let's just run up the white flag this instant" stage.

I sincerely doubt the NASP is going to come over the border at this point. Not unless they think they can get supreme local superiority and/or want to restart the war.

Actually, I've seen that before, but where did people get that the entire mobile force assigned to the Salient left? We know that the entire force formerly belonging to Chaung Mu did, but who said they were the only contributors? At the least, I'd say the system itself probably maintains a standing navy of some sort.

Also the NASP might start to come apart if we continue to do things like what we did to Chaung Mu.
As a devil's advocate, it also might cause them to increase central authority to keep things like Chaung Mu sending their BBs off on a "rogue" mission happening again. Which may or may not be a good thing for us, but probably a bad thing for the Empire.

I know we just won a tremendous victory, but let's not get too proud ok?

It's almost certainly going to be their main capital element. @Packrat mentioned that it was a substantial if not the substantial portion of their mobile forces.

o_Owait a sec...... Space first world standards..... Economy to match..... massive prideful navy for its size..... Democratic nation in a coalition of nations fighting against enemies of Democracy and willing to ignore less democratic nations in their ranks to win....

HOLY CRAP GUYS! WE JUST KILLED OFF SPACE USA!!! :o:o:o:o

We are badass as fk....

:p;):p
Sort of I'm sure there are other worlds that would fit the space USA better. They are a direct democracy after all not a Republic like the USA.

Given that Chuang Mu only had 4 total BBs available I sincerely doubt the Rana Salient has significantly more than that. If they only have one or two I'm totally down with rushing repairs and bringing EVERYBODY in a turn or two for a full scale raid.

They probably didn't but remember they are getting reinforcements in the form of a BB squadron.

Considering they are bringing at least a BB squadron to the bordering sector, i strongly advocate that we chill the fuck out now.

They raided us, we got them back. They did it again, and we got them back harder. If we go without more provocation we risk starting that war we just worked so hard to prevent.

And besides, we have a pretty strong chance of getting transferred after this.

I think that in military terms, we're pretty much safe bar us having a single ship vs a entire fleet, and even then I'd be giving it 50/50 odds that we'd come out of it.

I think our main concern is now going to be political intrigue. We've made a enemy of a major ducal house, as well as become infamous amongst our enemy. We should strongly invest into our spy network and really start integrating ourselves into either the imperial family or another ducal family for political protection. We also need to get some loyal bodyguards because I suspect assassination attempts will be coming. And that's our weak spot right now, on a ships bridge we're safe. Outside of that...? I'm not so sure of our safety.

It's not standard practice, because you're committing suicide. If you wait until it's clear you'll lose, then you also take the chance that whatever self destruct method you're using will be somehow disabled by the enemy boarding party. We have heard that the Valinor Regency does like to use self destruct devices to take down enemy capitals with LCs though, because they're literal religious fanatics willing to commit literal suicide in the name of the cause.
If boarding was still a major capital-scale thing among modern day navies... I wouldn't write off the tactic being used even by first world nations that aren't Russia. At the very least we'd be packing self-scuttling charges.
And we did it all on a ship called Sword of Democracy yo. I think the majority of our firepower in that last battle were stolen NASP ships to boot.
Were we serious in having it repainted as the 'Sword in Democracy' to save paint?

Eh. We are Space USA and we are murdering Space USA. They are the America that actually tries to live up to its dogma and we are the America that is a hollowed-out oligarchy that paints itself in red, white and blue and sodomizes a different bald eagle every night.

To comment.

Rana does have it's own navy. It has a disproportionately large and capable navy who were originally mercenaries and are now probably funded by NASP, but Rana's economy is also about a fifteenth of the size of Chuang Mu's so it would honestly be surprising if they have any home grown capital ships or the capacity to build them.

Also Chuang Mu's navy was not all that big for the system's wealth, most systems are much more dysfunctional and significantly poorer even for their population, they probably had about 4-5 percent military spending along with particularly good cruiser crews and officers due to semi officially but very actively enforcing a No Pirates Zone on their side of the Valinor Regency. Note that their worst cruiser had Regular crew, the others were all Veteran apart from the one that was Elite with a Tactics 14 captain (and was actually beating up the Endeavour before another heavy helped her out). Those light cruisers (that you stole) were literally the best light warships for a dozen systems in any direction. You have also captured tens of thousands of Chuang Mu ship crew, who will be given the standard very cushy treatment that captured starship crews in legitimate conflicts get. Sure they kicked over Imhotep, but you captured them in their own space whilst you were invading it.

Regardless you did just take on a legitimately serious navy using significantly inferior forces. Then capture it, all of it, without losing a ship. People at NASP high command and in the Imperial Palace are going to be looking very seriously at you and your record then connecting the dots. Also Ducal houses of course.

One thing to consider is that whilst Arslan and Arril actively dislike you Jamoor is pretty neutral (You favoured them for six months before taxing them, so kind of a wash). Wison are liable to be favorably inclined given you have plucked Dame Jule Sice Wison from obscurity then raised her to be a bad ass hero figure with a cool special cruiser who just boarded and captured two 'equivalent' enemy vessels in a single action before taking part in seizing a battleship.

have ether of them given Reinhard a nickname?

Depends on what high command says. If they encourage us to go for broke, then we should.

"That Bastard" seems likely. Inside the Empire, of course, it's probably "That Commoner Bastard" or "That Magnificent Bastard", depending on who's talking.
'Bastard' in this case could be a backhanded compliment. Clearly we aren't REALLY a commoner. Somebody with title clearly took liberties with our mother so we aren't QUITE as vulgar as we could be.

Those four BBs were the ships directly funded and crewed by that one planet. It was very impressive but also showed we clearly merit special attention from the NASP as a whole. Expect them to cut loose additional reserves from other locations and their main fleet.
