-[x] Shadowstalker is a sociopath who only saves people who conform to her arbitrary rules of having value, and is brain washing our friend Mercurial (not master brain washing just old fashioned social manipulation) into thinking like her. Mercurial is making Me and Shadow Stalker look well adjusted because she's not recovering from whatever broke her like this and is trying to prove she isn't broken by throwing herself into situations that cause her to freak out over and over again. She's shaking like a leaf and is too fucking proud to fucking fix the damned problem instead of trying to act tough. And the only reason I'm telling you this is because I don't know how to make it stop. Does it involve shooting shadowstalker while she's confused and afraid and has no clue what's going on? That seems to be your go to solution.

Masks will get a rewrite as well but probably more slowly because there is so much to unpack. That one is in some sense easier and in some sense harder. I'm getting back to writing after some real life issues and well, yeah.

For me what annoys me most about this fic is that I have no idea what abilities the protagonist has, I have no idea what effects the various stats have thus no real capacity to care for the choices that influence them.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I do enjoy your writing but the reasons above are the reasons why I haven't been re-reading this fic like I have Masks.

Not so much it went wrong as that I was annoyed every time something happened where I liked the other option better and I simultaneously didn't want to railroad too much. That and I was buried in RL things.

So the most logical choice I think is to make it not a quest.

That is fair. I'm not even sure anyone has asked so far actually. The stats just show how much she is influenced by her other half and the abilities grow over time. And hunger is hopefully self-explanatory.

I'm slightly confused, but okay.
This was always going to be or at least intended to be somewhat slower paced.

A bit of taking a moment to look around, stumbling into random things, occasionally taking a step back and trying to figure out what's going on.

Anyway, I'll post the new first chapter later today.

I've just read the first two chapters of your story, and was curious where it came from so went back and read this. I really liked it, although I agree that the quest aspects besides player choice were ... lacking. You were definitely hitting your stride in the Emma - Sophia section, and I look forward to whatever you produce in the future!
