Wrathful Times

[X] Well, you've been exploring lots of other non-summoner magics...whats one more?
- [X] "What does becoming a Heaven Knight involve? Would I be required to follow your laws?"

"Well, I don't have any initial objections." You finally admit, and you can almost feel Wrath's attention focus on you. "But what would be required on my end?"

"In essence, you would be working with me when I finish my training." Your friend sits down across from you as he explains.

"That's it?" You raise an eyebrow.

"A bit more than that, but that's the core of it. It's a commitment. A partnership as you will. You assist me with my projects, and I will assist you with yours." Wrath smiles just a bit before continuing. "A Heaven Knight is often the one who travels or intercepts issues before they start. When you and your father entered our realm, the white-touched spotted you, and the heaven knight found you. In a perfect scenario, a Black-touched would have known you were coming, and a Hell Knight would have been there to give the Heaven Knight reinforcments. That's only in military terms."

You nod at the explaination. "That's not that hard, though it seems a bit simple."

"You'd be considered part of us, so you could get full training and would be able to get access to our more restricted techniques." Here Wrath pauses. "I would however caution you about taking this offer."

"Huh? I thought you wanted me to take it." You are a bit confused.

The teen sighs and looks up. "I cannot give you specifics. Only that winds are blowing outward. The waters are churning with menace. I give it three years before the storm begins. And then..."

You watch him trail off. "This something about your fortune telling? I seem to remember something like that being one of the skills your magics have."

"More intuition." Justified Wrath gets to his feet and looks out the door of his mental fortress. "You know our historians are already calling this the 'time of wrath?'"

"Why would they be saying that?" You are a bit confused.

"A lot of anger. A lot of pain." Your friend's face has settled into something foreign to you. "It's turning to hatred, and it's all centered on something nearby. Anything more I cannot tell you. I'm saying this as a friend. There are things looming, and I will be directing a lot of them."

"Yeah, that's not ominous at all." You sigh. "And you can't be more specific than that?"

"Not in this." Wrath tilts his head and looks at you. "I will not."

You think you have a few hints here. But not enough for you to really consciously pick them up. The idea trembles in the back of your mind, but you don't think you want to seriously push it to the forefront. The possibility of it scares you just a bit.

[X] Do I have to decide now? This is seems like a big choice, maybe I should talk to my dad about it? And Hopeful Path and Lady Four Rocks?

How many years do we have left of our summoner training?

[X] Turn it down for now.

We can't really set a commitment on something like this, given his warning I suspect the coming conflict is between our two peoples, at least in part. If we commit we'd be very much between a rock and a hard place.

[X] Make no decision for now.
-[X] Tell us some stories about famous Heaven Knights?

[X] Accept.

Ya know, I thought I couldn't be more blatant than I already have been, but damn apparently I'm bad at hinting.
Common problem with GMing and QMing.

You can be sure people would pick up your most subtle foreshadowings just in time to spoil everything, and misinterpret/mistrust the most blatant hints so as to act on completely wrong intel.

Oh. Hmm. So, the Sea of Sand will break their waves upon the Summoners' land. The earth will be quenched red as it has not since the Blood Fens were named, the Fey will be brought against the Divine, the Elemental against the Demonic, and the rest of the world will shiver in fear.

[X] Accept.
-[x] If hard times are coming, it is better to face them with our friends at our back than alone.

"All right, I'll accept." You finally state as you keep eye contact with Wrath.

"You are certain?" Wrath raises an eyebrow.

You smile just a tad. "If hard times are coming, it's better to face them with our friends at our back than alone."

"I hope that you will not regret this." Wrath holds out his hand, and slightly confused, you grasp it.

You know the spell he casts. This is the third time, and you are familiar with the process. It's only as the spell settles in, and the spiritual chains start to wrap that you realize something. He had been holding it back. This is not something that you could break. A binding that you are quite sure that the world itself couldn't break.

"We are partners now. Through thick and thin. Until we both agree otherwise, we will help and support eachother. Should you fall, I will catch you. Should I stray, you will guide me." Wrath intones, and you feel your grip on his hand tighten as the magic hits you hard. "Forgive my sins in the future, but remember them well. I am your White-touched, and you are my Heaven Knight."

"Urk." You groan as he lets your hand go and you give him a very unhappy look.

"It's worse if you anticipate it."

"You think?" You mutter. "So what now?"

Your friend shrugs. "Keep learning. If you need me at any time, please let me know. Hopeful Path should be able to teach you quite a bit, so talk with her later."

"I'll do that." The feeling of the spell has gone away, but you know it's lurking in the background.

You almost want to say it's an unpleasent feeling, but you find yourself bizzarely comforted. So long as this spell exists, you know your friend is there to help.

The next day is the time for the field trip. You are going to the Echoing Halls. Unfortunately, it's one of the longest trips offered. Most of the students spend the time sleeping. You personally spend it meditating and going over simple mental exersizes. None of your friends are going on this one, and you don't know any of the other students well enough to talk with them.

When you finally arrive at the Echoing Halls though, you feel it was worth the wait. The place is massive. It's all underground, with massive hallways providing the ceiling. The place echoes with sound, and you see people bustling around everywhere.

It's only when you start moving amoung them that you realize there are two 'races' of people. One group is smaller than normal, and the other is taller than you. The jusxtoposition is a bit interesting actually.

You have a choice at this point. Visit the underground harbor, visit the forges, or visit the market. Each one of them are marked very clearly in large signs above everyone's head.

There is also a brewery too, but you aren't certain that you are interested in that.

Becoming a Heaven Knight gives access to the following skills you can learn.

Angelic Wings
Beginner: Increases foot speed
Intermediate: Allows larger jumps than normal
Advanced: Allows one to vault almost like you were flying, and removed falling damage
Expert: Allows one to manifest a pair of wings and fly slowly
Mastered: Flying is second nature, and you are faster than the wind

Heavenly Spear(Requires Magical Projection Advanced)
Beginner: Manifests a simple magical spear
Intermediate: Your spear is capable of changing size and shape in combat
Advanced: You may throw your spear to produce a small magical explosion
Expert: Your spear will seek it's target unneringly
Mastered: When thrown, the spear becomes a beam of light that destroys it's target

You also have access to the following fighting styles (Chosen because they are suitable for you, you can request others)

Dancing Rebirth: Requires Chains / whips / flails
Beginner: Your weapon whirls around you like it was alive
Intermediate: Destroying the weapon does nothing as it regrows, and harming you is only temporary (Life Tech)
Advanced: You might have only one weapon, but it splits and weaves as if there were two
Expert: So long as your weapon is moving, you are extraordinarily hard to pin down.
Mastered: Now it's four

Mother Bear: Requires gauntlet / armor of some sort
Beginner: Allies nearby you inspire a protective frenzy if they are damaged, and you know how to grapple now
Intermediate: You can adjust your momentum as you see fit, and even increase it somewhat
Advanced: Your skin is as tough as your armor or weapon
Expert: Doubles your strength
Mastered: People grappled with you are not getting loose, and size matters not

Eh, honestly I am entirely cold to the third and fourth trait - they are honestly pretty useless to us as a controller/support since they do not buff our allies but rather just us.

First and second on the other hand helps keep us alive and gives us a ranged attack.
