Wormverse ideas, recs, and fic discussion thread 1

you know I didn't realize that how scary the SI would actually be. compared to all of the other capes in BB.

wonder how effective he would be against the capes based there: glory girl, miss militia or Taylor for example.

also remembered that if he gets good enough he can make ice and bloodbend with his mind though I feel the latter one will take a Lot of effort
Depends. Are there surprise attacks?

Glory girl. Taken down. Or at least, greatly hindered. Cause yeah superstrength. Kinda useless when your own muscles and such are hijacked against you.

Miss Milita. Even worse. No superstrength or flight to reduce the damage. taken down.

Taylor. Useless. Unless she gets the drop on him, he's just going to remove the water from her insects.

if they surprise him-and that's a big if because of his boodbending- and they have multiple opponents against him then i think they'll be able to take him down. depends on how sudden and aggressive it is.

if there are no ambushes then i think the SI will be fine especially if he has back up

would oni lee be a good counter to him?

Hmm...

What do you guys think of, say, refugee camps or slums in the US, filled with japanese fleeing leviathan with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Fic idea:

My name is Oliver Queen. After Leviathan, for five years I was stranded on a hellish island with only one goal: survive. Now, I will fulfill my father's dying wish - to use the list of names he gave me to take down the Cauldron organization that is poisoning my city. To do this, I must become someone else. I must become something else.

A normal, covered in tinkertech, took down jack slash while he was distracted.

And remember, all the undersiders have superpowers.
None of which stop bullets*. The main cast has the same plot armor that the author tries to critique. There is nothing stopping a beat cop from killing Tattletale or Grue or whomever in a mid-level skirmish. And - practically - someone like Shadow Stalker has the same level of skill as TV!Ollie even when you account for parahuman powers.

*Even the spider-silk armor is hilarious overpowered compared to reality.

perhaps.

What I meant when I said powers, was the use of trump cards. What can tattletale do? Look at people, then know their bank account number. that's what she can do. Grue can blanket an area with darkness, leaving his victims helpless. Bitch can boost dogs to antitank weapons. Blahblahblah...

These powers are basically things you can use to take down other people. Even shadow stalker has a power. What can ollie do? Shoot arrows/ guns? Yeah, he can.

But then after shooting and killing tattletale, nevermind killing a teenage girl, he's going to have several superpowered and very angry people after his life.

I mean, if you go and shoot a member of any gang, you have a bunch of very angry people after you. It's a matter of degree, and not even that big a degree. Grue has a AoE weapon, Bitch has really tough soldiers, etc. These aren't unsolvable problems for a police department in 2017 on our world.

Worm/Youjo Senki idea anyone can use.

Taylor unlocks her magic (she now has Tanya's Unlimited amount of magic) and the knowledge to build new tech to help with her magic. Also Being X as always interferes telling she is the Reincarnation of Tanya von Degurechaff/Tasha Tectretius and he plans to help her with her adventure. Taylor Does Not have Tanya's memories. Thank Being X for that.

Also Taylor's hair coloring is now a mix of Tanya's natural blond hair and the silver Tanya used in her persona as Tasha.

Note: Taylor only gains some of Tanya's true personality whenever she uses an Operation Orb while fighting anything.
Also the world is the same as Youjo Senki. Just that Magic has taken a back turn when Superpowers started appearing.
Taylor's Grandfather came from the Empire. Emma's family came from the Republic 50 years before the Great War happen.
Taylor's Mother is the Great granddaughter of Viktoriya Ivanovna Serebryakov.

Also Note: Tinker tech (other than Taylor's) cannot be used to upgrade any tech that any mages uses and actively rejects them for unknown(Scoin) reasons. Tinker Tech no longer works if a Mage holds it for more then a minute.
And Mages (other then Taylor) that gain parahuman powers loss the ability to use magic.
Also Scoin shows up 5 years after Tanya dies.

Miss Militia's power is to have a gun. She doesn't get weapon jams when using non-lethal ammunition. Apart from that, she may as well be a highly armed, well trained regular human.

Yes she can pull out a battlefield nuke when let off the chain, but for non-fatal street-level stuff she's basically as effective as a normal.

You ever start planning on a fic realize that a character fits a role you need/want filled and go "But I don't like this guy!"?

Also, do you guys have any Characters were in more fics? For me it's Lily/Foil, Charlotte, Forrest, and Taylor's Grandma.

That is true. That is also irrelevant, because part of Cauldron's influence was creating this culture of "normals can't do anything to capes, only capes can beat capes", regardless of examples like Miss Militia. Because if beat cops are able to stop parahuman crime by shooting it, that means fewer capes running around to be used against Scion.

Well, that, and it's really hard to tell at a glance who's bulletproof and who isn't. Powers may skew towards human durability more often than not, but do you really want to roll the dice with the knowledge that there's an entire class of parahuman who can be summed up as "shooting them will only piss them off"?
