Wormverse ideas, recs, and fic discussion thread 1

I just realized something hilarious about the Dishonnored cross I wrote a few pages ago:

Corvo has Sophia's shard which pinged off of QA.
 
I know there's a metric ton of Exalted/Worm crossfics out there, but any of them have both the Exalted powers and the parahuman powers as two separate things? Like say, you have the Protectorate and another organization that oversees the Exalteds?

I have a fic idea that involves an Exalt!Sophia, her follower Emma, and canon!Taylor reigning in the chaos of Brockton's many parahuman gangs (Marquis, ABB, E88, Merchants of Venice) and the 'tough on crime' Exalted Wave (New Wave, except as Exalteds...with a romance between Vicky Dallon and Amelia Lavene because I'm evil and wrong). I need to do some more research on Exalteds, though.

Current plan for the fic is thus: There WILL be both Scion and Eden, although they will be reduced in power quite a bit (and divorced, mwahaha). The Endbringers will be more like proper kaiju than canon (Behemoth is an Efreet, Leviathan a sea serpent, and Zis is a giant bird); they can be killed easier than the canon!Endbringers, but that doesn't make them go away, only puts them to rest for a time. And other craziness. Like, say, Antihero!Coil...

If you think any of that makes sense then you don't know much about exalted. You don't make an organization to control them because they aren't going to be controllable for very long. Governments have consistently failed to make exalts do what they want but exalts are very good at making new governments lead by themselves. Also having that many exalts in a single city is very unlikely even if New Wave and Marquis's gang are dragonbloods (the inheritable exaltation).

If exalted have been a thing in the setting for long they will be in charge. Sort of like how in eclipse there is only 5 exalts in the setting so far and china ruled by 3 of them and Danny is well on his way to rewriting the economy of Brockton Bay.

Frankly exalted isn't really a setting you should try fusions with unless you really know the setting.
 
So, quick thought experiment:

Two Capes Meet. They are both Skitters. They both superficially look the same (they can be different genders, as long as their colors/silhouettes match). There is only one Taylor among them. (Optional: One is significantly better adjusted than the other, this goes vice versa)

How would they interact?

I think Eclipse and the other one that the same author wrote has the exalted as it's own separate thing. Then there's conquest quest, actually. I think that the only exalted worm story that doesn't separate the powers would be Divine Administrator.

And Goblin queen via Emma becoming a dragon blood from a vial. Someone really should talk to her about accepting superpowers from strangers.

Goblin Queen has a godblooded Taylor, a dragonblooded Emma, and a solar artiste by the name of Jack who managed to get Exalted while being a parahuman.

Basically exaltation/essence usage and parahuman powers are two different things and they stack.

Thanks for the advice :). So, it would probably be just Shadow Stalker as the Exalt then...or I could do a New Wave-centric fic where Brandish and her children are Exalts...and so is Marquis and Amelia, which is why he's still on the loose and she's still with daddy. And that way, I can still do a Vicki x Amy ship, since in this fic they're not even adopted sisters.

In your story. I would argue that being a parahuman is an acquired mutation that the process of Exaltation would "cure" the host of, and that the relevant anti-Shaping Charms would resist.

Oh god... that made me think of something terrible.

Emma= Fighter
Sophia= Thief
Taylor= Red mage
Madison= Black mage.

Because Madison doesn't really have a strong character and could be a murderous little shit if you want her to be. ;)

Or Sophia could be the black mage since she became friends with Emma, or it would likely fall to Taylor. No Taylor, murdering puppies is wrong.

Hmm... I've got a different thought on the matter.

Fighter - Sparky, aka Uber, who has all the sword skills
Black Mage - Greg Veder, aka Leet, who's desperately maintaining a stupidly powerful laser
Thief - Orianna Character, aka Circus, who steals while androgynous
Red Mage - Charlotte, aka Trigger Waiting To Happen, who can adapt surprisingly well
White Mage - Taylor
Black Belt - Taylor's Alternate Power
 
There was a 'You're already dead' Taylor-Solar joke in a exalted crossover (the Conquest Quest thread).

Does 8-bit theatre eventually get better? I've tried reading it a few times, but the jokes were all stupid and lazy.

Maybe, but the impression I got was that the author was new to the whole making comics thing and just trying his best to make a joke where he could. I suspected he would get better further along, but I'm having trouble pushing through the cringe.
 
Huh now that you bring it up. Channeling white mage would actually probably be a good rule of thumb for getting Panacea characterization down. That's approximately the right level of bitchiness
 
Working on the next update for Something Completely Different, and I want to double check whether any other canon characters were confirmed as members of the original Wards team other than Armsmaster, Chevalier, Miss Militia, Mouse Protector, Myrddin, and that Reed kid from Chevalier's Interlude. Names, in particular, are what I'm interested in.

The rest on your list is pretty much the extent of it.

(though if you want them added, it's up to you. Your fic and all)

Remember, Exaltation can cure most mutations, not that it will cure all mutations. There are beastmen exalts in canon complete with mutations.
