Wolf Spider (Worm) (Complete)

Considering your latest comment, I should have seen this coming :'(

What's the update schedule on this fic by the way?
I might really want to know what happens next, you see.

Edit: I wonder if Danny will go to the cops or the Protectorate? And what he'll even tell them... "My daughter is a cape and ran away from home with her girlfriend who's a bad influence. No, I don't know her name or her address..."
On the other hand, just googling Arachne might turn up Hellhound, aka Rachel Lindt, dog person extraordinaire. This... Probably wasn't the way Taylor was hoping her dad would find out about things.

Also, btw. Once a week, on Monday. I might have to pause it if I fall behind schedule, because I always want to have an Arc and Interludes completely done before I do the first chapter in the Arc, so that @NemoMarx can look at the whole Arc holistically, you know?

This arc would have looked really different if I'd only read up to 3.5, at first, and there's no way I can look for foreshadowing or anything without seeing pretty far ahead. It does mean the pace can't get too fast, though.

Damn, so canon realistic. Hitting Emma was in character self destructive, as was pushing back against her dad like that. Him trying to help but actually helplessly making things worse by putting his foot down and making her go to the school she's being bullied in and interfering with her one solid relationship. I'm a little annoyed about her outing herself to him but it's justified plot device.

Also really like how fair you made the school. They're usually so blatantly anti-Taylor but this seemed more uncaring than malicious.

Yay! Taylor moving out in the most self destructive way.

Danny knows she's a cape.
Danny blames Rae for Taylor's behaviour.
School will call truant on her when she doesn't show up in four days.
Danny will probably go to PRT for help.

This has all the makings of a world class clusterfuck.

The anticipation is gonna kill me.

Danny NOW YOU CARE? Forbidding her to see Rachel? Its obvious you don't realize that you're gonna make Taylor run to her true love.

To be fair, from his perspective, it was only for a few days... possibly at least. Rachel was still invited to the family dinner on Saturday, though one might question how likely he'd be to actually approve of her.

"This would be useful... if I happened to want to deal with someone who wasn't Taylor. And I don't. Do not recommend."

I mean, think about who she's even likely to interact with! Danny, who is... well. And then the Trio, maybe, or Lisa calling to chat once she realizes what's going on.

I can't imagine Rachel being super excited to like, try chatting with strangers or something, and she doesn't know that many people.

Having slept on it, I've came to the conclusion I'm very angry with Danny right now. It's well within his character, but damn if he isn't a shitty shitty parent. First off Taylor asks if she could miss school, then when a fight happens, he gets all shirty about it.

If I had asked the same question at Taylor's age you know what would have happened? I'd have been sat down at the kitchen table and asked bluntly why I didn't want to go, and I wouldn't have been able to leave until I explained. At the time we were living even closer to the poverty line (fucking Keating and his 'recession we had to have' *spit*) than Taylor and Danny but my family would have missed work for that.

Instead he gets all indigent and all but frog marches her to a place where she was hospitalised less than six months before...

As I said before, very in character for him, and not a complaint at the author, but he is really a shitty dad. Just like in canon. Bravo Laurent.

This is turning out to be one of my most favorite fanfics ever. I didn't really like Rachel before this fic, now I wonder why not more people are writing her. Also I really enjoy the romance aspect! Not often that is well written in my opinion. Looking forward to future updates on this, and your other stories!

Oh? What about Rachel clicked with you here? Are there parts you especially liked? Parts that could be better?

I guess you managed to make me realize that Rachel actually could be a pretty good friend/partner, as long as you actually understand her. The value of someone that is always honest, and says whatever is on their mind is often underestimated. My favorite part so far was the "wanna fuck?" part. Paints an awesome picture of Rachel. Most fics designate her to be the "bad one" in the undersiders. She doesn't often have a prevalent role, and the role she often plays is to show off Taylors strength. For example she attacking Taylor, and getting beaten down. I also really like the fluffy scenes between them, and that they actually have an intimate relationship isn't something you see very often. Hard to write well.

What could be better? I can't really think of anything. I personally feel like I have read too many stories where Taylor is suffering, so I kinda like how it is now, with things going relatively well. Rachel > Danny :p

Just binged the last couple chapters on the bus and like, I don't know, I'm real down for the ship I guess. I think someone's pointed it out, but I really appreciate that the romance has those subtle aspects.

Just found this around 3.4 or so and already it's my favorite of your works. Thanks for writing it! It's just feels like a lighter read than, say, Split, and it's nice to see Taylor happy. It's also somewhat revised my view of Bitch, seeing her in a better place than canon as well. Even making Greg something more than a punchline is cool. People read very much as themselves, it doesn't feel you've changed them even with this being AU.

Also, don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but I wonder if the dogs can be trained to follow the bugs orders... there's not much that could stop a dozen hellhounds working in tandem over the range of city blocks, each acting as a carrier for it's own swarm...

It.... its over!? N-NOOOO!! :cry::cry::cry::cry:

This story is great! I realize this is not even slightly constructive but I'm currently experiencing too much feelz for critiques. Which is a pretty damn good sign.

I honestly thought I'd dislike this story when I realized it was leaning towards Taylor/Rachel but fucking dammit it sold me. I'm pretty much going to cave and say I like literally everything you write, even if I don't really want to. Lol. Every story I've read of yours has been hours of gold.

Yeah, I update every Monday.

This isn't going to be a super-duper-mega-long Story. Like, it's not a million words. But.

But we're not even halfway through. We're not even at the part where everything goes to shit.

Etc, etc.

I currently even have Arc 4 completed, mostly...
