Though I guess it doesn't matter since I'd have voted for Crystal Wings - confused why people went Hardened Physiology when QM said it probably wouldn't make much of a difference.

They went for Hardened Physiology because it works well with Honed Edge. The problem being that it's a hack-and-slash combo, and if we wanted hack and slash we should've voted for it earlier because investing in it now is just a waste. So now we're half poison build, with no realistic method of applying that trait, half hack-and-slash, and thus, subpar at both. We ARE pretty tanky, BUT considering how many options we have for tearing through defenses one way or another, which Awakened Beings would realistically have access to any of and more, and considering we have no method of applying our corrosive blood on-demand... Well, anything we can't cut, we can't kill, and anything with good enough regen, we also can't kill. And anything we can't kill, and can't deal significant amounts of damage to us, will still most likely kill us via attrition.

You still apply your corrosive blood with your bone sword and you still have basic bone projectiles, but you just don't have the more dangerous or esoteric abilities.

Unless we have like, blood vessels worked directly into the blade so we can spray it, or some pressurized canister mechanism for similar effect, we're not exactly able to apply lots of it to a targeted spot or anything. A corrosive coating on the blade may help us burn through whatever the blade itself can't cut, but there's no reason to believe it'd continue corroding once the coating is no longer directly touching the enemy. Good to know we keep the projectiles, though i'd like to know if the blood filled shattering projectiles were locked behind [Shards] options or not.
 
Yeah, it's very much limited to improved cutting power, but it doesn't do much/any damage once the blade breaks contact. The same goes for your bone projectiles, but they tend to get embedded in the target, so the corrosive effect persists, but without the Bone Shard upgrade, you can only fire off a single projectile at a time and it you takes you longer to generate it compared to the smaller individual shards.
 
Then yeah, we'll definitely have to work towards Razor Wing asap to make our build practical again. Or Control Node, but means we have to rely more on highly accurate slow shots rather than saturation tactics. Means the last vote didn't completely ruin things... but really, embedding corrosive shards without something like Control Node to root them, the damaged area will still be quite small compared to letting the shards shatter and spill their contents, and they'll dislodge themselves pretty easily too, since they'll be corroding the flesh keeping them in place, further reducing how much damage can be done... sigh

I would have probably voted for your plan if I had not missed the last minute call, but I still feel like Dust Cloud is without a doubt the best way of delivering poison to our target and that the Corrosive Growth from the Yoki Eater tree is the most effective poison for a defensive type...

I mean we don't even need to pierce the target as long as it comes close to us he is fucked, and the Corrosive Growth seems slower than the alternatives but it also seems much more deadly in the sense that it seems the most difficult poison to fight against...

But well, if we want the experience to add those powers to our build we can always go for omakes to get us some XP...

@rdc30, does Honed Edge at least give us the flexibility to create different weapons to fight different classes of opponents? IE dual saber /sword and board for fighting multiple enemies surrounding us, daggers in confined and narrow spaces, throw-optimized lances for a single critical target that's hard to reach, huge bone club to hit that homerun?

even if it does, skill would be an issue, no? We have Swordsmanship, but even that's just the big, standard swords Claymores are trained to use; hence why Sabers would've been the Dueling skill if we had chosen that instead of Honed Edge.
 
Honestly, I think one of the biggest appeals of the whole bone thing was the idea of having bladed bones sticking out of our forearms, etc. that we could slice and stab people with.

A bone claymore to replace our actual metal one is... lackluster.

To put it mildly.

The Honed Edge branch focuses on upgrading the cutting power of your melee bone weapons, so it actually stacks really well with the other bone weapon branch. The Rank A upgrade for Honed Edge is Bleeding Edge (makes your sword spew blood with every swing), Shivering Blade (vibro-blade with barbs) and upgrading Swordsmanship to Favored. The first two stack with the other bone weapon skill, while the last one is committing to your claymore.
 
Bleeding Edge works as a delivery mechanism, i'm not sure we'd realistically need Shivering Blade, given that we can just corrode what few defenses we can't outright cut through anyways, and swordsmanship to favored... valuable, but less so than Bleeding Edge, i think. Means Razor Wings becomes merely 'useful' rather than 'essential', means we can apply Yoki Disruption, Yoki Leech, Control Node, Corrosive Growth, and a few others very easily even without Razor Wings... Yeah. We'll have some inefficiencies we could've avoided for the first arc or few, i suspect, but it's salvageable and we probably won't end up fighting things we can't kill for awhile. Just have to be careful about particularly fast/agile enemies, and flying enemies, since our projectiles kinda suck right now.
