Winter Rose (Worm/Steven Universe) (Alt Power+Crossover)

Enjoying the story so far!

"During your power testing your body apparently abruptly vanished when your skin was subjected to a pressure of approximately 22 megapascals.
Isn't this super low? even if shes massively weaker then a pink gem should be because shes not used to the power or whatever, She did just lift 1000kg like nothing.
Wouldn't 220 or 2200+ Mpa make more sense with that kind of strength?

Though if she had the full durability of a pink gem right now, I doubt the machine could damage her at all considering some lower tier gems have some much much greater strength feats than alexandria, with the durability to withstand some hits from that kind of power.

To give you an idea; one of the Gems, Lapis Lazuli, is a hydrokinetic powerful enough to maybe give Leviathan a run for his money (not inviting any vs debates, just saying she's shown a lot of power over water) as well as create wings of water that allow her interstellar flight.

And Lapis isn't the most powerful of the Gems.
Her hydrokinesis is magnitudes better than anything leviathan showed when he was doing regular attacks, and her durability is Probably somewhat comparable to leviathans at the layers the defenders would get to in a endbringer fight. However the limits on leviathans true hydrokinetic power isn't really known, but he likely has lapis beat in durability. So definitely comparable.

3190.8294 pound force per square inch seems a decent amount to me. Of course bullets are 35k psi. Average punch strength is 350 psi.

Which would be less than 10x as durable, but many many times stronger? Even if she couldn't lift the boats at that point she seems like shes over 100x as strong considering she handled 1000 kg in one hand like Styrofoam.

could be stronger against diffuse force than impact force. A load bearing wall holds many times more weight than you can generate, but you can knock one down by hitting the right spot with a sledgehammer.

I've started work on chapter 17 now. Sorry it's so slow going everybody...

Also all the speculation on what horrible body fluid it could be is hilarious.

"Oh! Hello, you must be with the Protectorate." She finally greeted Armsmaster, who was examining Peridot's machine with clear interest.

"I am indeed. Armsmaster, team lead, Protectorate East-North-East." He greeted her, glancing over to her elegantly curved watercraft. "Am I correct in thinking you made that machine?"

That bit is a little odd; Armsmaster and Pearl have already met, at the end of Chapter 10.

"That's cool. Hey P and P-dot, Bismuth says she found a few more cargo containers buried in the bay, she's gonna grab them and see if there's anything neat inside. Aaaand that you should get the forge ready cuz she's ready to start working on the new Temple."

I couldn't decide if Armsmaster's ears perked up more at the word "Forge" Or "Temple." They were about the same points that my own confusion started spiking.

A building housed inside a giant statue of a multi-armed woman isn't going to go down well with a certain gang of white-supremacist shitheads, I'm betting.

The Protectorate reaction when they find out exactly who it's a statue of will be amusing.

Director Piggot: "They're basing themselves in a giant statue of some important figure in their culture?"

Armsmaster: "Technically, no. The subject matter is indeed a person of some importance, a gem called 'Obsidian', but the statue itself is in one-to-one scale."

Director Piggot...and everyone else in the room: "..."

Continuing this..

Director Piggot: You mean to tell me they have their own Endbringer?

Armsmaster: No, or at least not yet. Apparently the more powerful the Gem the longer it takes for them to arrive in this dimension.

Assault: Yeah, that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Armsmaster: It shouldn't. Obsidian is apparently one kind of Gem. Which implies there are more than one of her.

Amethyst: 'Sides, she's kinda already mostly here.

Already mostly here, that doesn't sound terrifying at all.

...What did OP do to get suspended?

Just caught up on this, having fun and looking forward to more. Questions/thoughts:

1) I'm up to date on Steven Universe and finished Worm but not Ward - should I be expecting Ward spoilers?

2) Would the Pink Diamond's ability to create sentient life (as seen with the watermelon Stevens and pebbles) make Taylor potentially an S-class threat?

We'd need to wait for RoyalNoises' answer to be sure but I'd say no; most of the things Steven made were relatively harmless out of the box. The watermelon Stevens could form a civilization and make basic tools so that's impressive but still too slow to really be much of a threat; at best, you have a method of making more menial workers. That being said, Taylor has a more aggressive mindset than Rose and Steven so maybe that influences the things she creates. I also think that the things Taylor makes could be a lot more dangerous if she used her magic on already dangerous organic weapons made by bio-tinkers like Blasto but with the possible (but still unlikely any time soon, if ever) exception of Amy, I don't think there's a chance that she'll be working with any that we know about.

So, to keep the discussion going; what does everyone think about the Crystal Gems becoming independent or joining one of the other groups? I could see them being independent or maybe joining New Wave. Peridot's patents and offer to supply the Protectorate and PRT (and other hero groups eventually, I imagine) with anything they need free of charge will doubtlessly net them a lot of money and goodwill so they can really go whatever route they decide upon.

i would love for them to join the guild

Hmm... I think they'd be their own hero team, honestly. I really can't picture them operating under any other group, and they have enough members to count as one (They have about the same amount of members as New Wave). It's not even like they'd have issues with money, since gems don't need to spend money on things like food.

I'm also seeing them as an independent team working closely with both New Wave and PRT. Taylor didn't seem super impressed by Brandish's pitch, and the gems don't seem to need the PRT's resources, but it also seems like everyone's leaning toward cooperation.

My understanding was that a significant element of the S class designation is an exponential growth potential - in the case of Blasto, the line between S class and not was the fact that his creations were sterile and could not self-replicate. The Watermelon Stevens reproduce. And while they're not heavy hitters, I wouldn't call them harmless - they overwhelmed the gems when first introduced and also invented bows and arrows. (Not that I'm wanting the story to go in that direction but I think it's an interesting consequence of how the powers are defined.)

So I'm back, but have made exactly zero progress. SV has become an intensely frustrating place for me, and I am this close to just washing my hands of the place.

I'm not going to say this fic is dead but I am telling you not to get your hopes up.
