Winter is Coming: House Stark Quest

So Jon's blood will open a way through the Wall?

She may just want a little blood, or that's all that is necessary...

But I wouldn't count on it.

And anyway, I see little reason to make things easier for them when they plan on going past the wall.

We need a decent write-in, though. We shouldn't underestimate her and Jon is injured.

Where is Ghost right now?

Ghost doubled back once you knew where they were taking you...

But unfortunately the Watch aren't going to be arriving to pull off a rescue. They'd have some trouble doing it with pretty much the entire Wildling population huddled down here, but it might have been possible. Ygritte doesn't want to drain you dry in this case. Just a Pirates of the Caribbean-esque slash on the hand is enough. The choice is essentially cooperate and open the door, resist and likely get... persuaded, or think of something clever. Somehow distract them until help arrives, start screaming and hope to bring a bunch of cannibal mutants to your position, try warging into somebody, seduce her, pocket sand, c*** punt, whatever feels natural!

I think we can resist. Our arms are still working properly. We could overpower the queen and take her hostage.

With her guard and a whole mess of willing right there? Not likely.

What we need to do is either buy time or create some chaos we can potentially escape in. Taking Ygritte hostage puts all their focus on Jon so he isnt geting away. If he kills her, they'll kill him.

[] Buy time. Get her talking.
-[] Say they succeed and get past the Wall, what then? Kings Beyond the Wall have gotten past the Wall before and were beaten back by the Watch and the lords of the North. But even if they somehow win this time then they'll have the wrath of the other Seven Kingdoms upon them. Sneaking past the Wall and trying to take the land that's south would only bring death for her people.
-[] If the Queen is responding, try to warg her while she is doing so, then let yourself free. If not, try to warg the deadliest looking wildling you notice to create as much chaos as possible and then escape.

Or we could just try to warg a Giant to carry us out of here.

On phone, so pardon any typos, etc

Not going to tag specifics 'cos I don't have any really good ideas, but spudman's "Okay, so you pull this off, what happens next?" sounds like a good opening gambit. Also might want to throw in any rumors we've heard about events in the south--shit be crazy down below the Neck, yo. Cannibal mutants might actually be the better part of the deal, considering.

I think getting her a talking and pointing out the issues with her plans is good, but warging her is probably not something we should risk just yet.

Talking sounds good but not sure about trying to warg her. Can Jon even do that?

I'm considering taking that out, but feel free to make your own version.

My laptop has apparently kicked the bucket, so until I get it looked at and/or buy a new one I'm stuck posting from my phone which definitely makes keeping up on quests a pain.

A blind Ygritte is Queen beyond on the Wall and she plans to invade the North via Gorne's Way, cool!

This could be a subvote of the get her to talk vote or stand on its own.

[] Warg the most dangerous looking wildling you notice and create some chaos. A giant is preferable so you could possibly have them carry you and escape.

Still trying to think of ideas for distractions, though...

Fainting spell, faking insanity, going into a long but ultimately pointless story or a groan inducing joke?

Nate the Snake, Westeros version?

Breaking into a musical number? Promise to sing the greatest song in the world...tribute.

Or just try to seduce.

Jon doesn't really have a lot of experience with warging intentionally, so I'm not sure why you think that he'd be able to warg a person. That's one of the most dangerous things for a warg to try, after all.

I'll limit my vote to the talking part.

Well, maybe try seduction then.

I honestly don't think just trying to poke holes in her plan is enough to even distract her for long, not unless we also offer an alternative. But I'm not sure what to suggest.

Or go with the ridiculously long story or joke. Or seduction.

Nobody else has any other ideas?

We need discussion and votes.

Hmm...Ygritte may be hoping to try negotiation once past the Wall, anyway. With the cannibal mutants getting closer it kind of makes me want to just cooperate but I'm having trouble seeing Jon doing sokay here. I dunno.

I like this plan.

[X] Wrestle that knife from the Queen's hand and hold her hostage.
-[X] Then try to negotiate with Gendel's children - all of her blood and flesh in exchange of safe passage for yourself.
--[X] If that fails kill the bitch anyway. The Wildlings can't be allowed to invade the Seven Kingdoms. You are the shield that guards the realms of men.

Fuck it, it's crazy and likely to fail but at least we won't spend words with someone who wants none.

Trying to hold her hostage assumes initial resistance and that it works out very well. Not likely.

Even if it does, how do we negotiate with cannibalistic mutants? And the wildlings wouldn't stand for her being a hostage while we're negotiating killing her anyway.

If you're going to rely on Gendel's children, then vote to make a lot of noise and then try to get away in the chaos when everyone is focused on them.

Are the seduce and bad pun subvotes too silly? Might take those off.

Anyway...taking her hostage is an idea, but you would need to use that leverage to have the FREE FOLK secure your passage above ground. Then let her go once you are clear. Resisting and taking her hostage could be worked as a subvote for trying to get her talking (if all else fails).

Cannibal mutants would just attack everybody. You can't make a deal with them.

The mutants attacking be to our benefit- we are the only one we care about, and the chaos gives us a chance to escape.

Escaping in the chaos of a mutant attack is feasible. Though Jon needs to start hollering to draw them towards the Free Folk camp.

What isn't feasible is negotiating with the cannibals to take Ygritte (and expecting them to honor it) when as our hostage her safety would be the only leverage we'd have that keeps the Free Folk from tearing Jon apart.

If you want to try taking her hostage (though it's about as likely to succeed as a vanilla 'resist' vote) use her safety as leverage with the Free Folk until Jon is safe above ground.
