Moves
Creepy: When a comrade sees you perform a ritual, overhears your prayers, or sees signs of your alienness, they lose Trust in you. Once they learn one of your Moves, they are no longer affected, but they gain Creepy as well.
Deep Ones: You can call on your patrons to Help you on a roll. On a 1, you Break after this mission.
Blessing: When you dab fresh blood on a piece of working equipment, roll +Calm. On a 16+, take both. On an 11-15, choose 1.
  • Take +1 Ongoing with this item this Routine. (+1 Handling for a plane)
  • The item cannot break or be lost this Routine. (+1 Armour on 1 Section of the Plane.)
On a miss, you need a bigger sacrifice. Don't disappoint.
Ideomotor Response: Your plane effectively has a programmable autopilot. It does not have to be switched on and off; it "knows" when you are behind the controls.
Soul-Bound: When you paint a rune in blood on an aircraft, you are linked. While in flight, you can take incoming Structure damage as Stress, 1-1. You can take a hit that would strike a Component as Injury, or give incoming Injury to your Engine.
Bond: (Witch move learned from Wulf) When you hold an object of significance and make an emotional connection to it, take 1 Stress. The object becomes a magical Focus, and you learn it's Nature (Earth, Air, Water, Fire, Iron, or Blood).
Contemplation: When you draw a ritual circle and stay within it, roll +Calm. On a 16+, you come out of it about an hour later refreshed; strike 3 Stress or 2 Injury. On an 11-15, it takes the whole night, and you're unreachable in that time.

Mastery
The Bushwack
Ambush Predator: When you strike an enemy who is unaware of your presence, roll with Advantage.
Forced Evade: When you fire to scare an opponent off, spend 1 ammo and roll +Hard. On a hit, instead of dealing damage, choose one: Target dives 1, target climbs 1, target loses speed in a forced turn. On a 16+, roll attack dice on them anyway.
Momentum: When you dive onto a target, add +1 AP.
Scissors Snip: When you disengage, give an ally +3 towards dealing with your target.

Intimacy Move
When you are intimate with another, choose one of you to get a hold. They can spend that hold to give the other a command: if followed, then forward to their next +Stat move, they will always score at least a partial hit, regardless of what the dice say.

If you use this move in the air, there are two holds, and they can be distributed however you agree.

[X] They might be a problem. Let's do something about it.
-[X] Send Wulf to get fashion tips and make friends, Aaron and Minna linger as an observer/backup in the corner. Have her share about our own job 'hitting the Goth camp', and try to sound them out about what they're up to.
-[X] At the same time, isabelle heads out to take a look at the other squadron's aircraft. Exact count and damage estimate.

I am mostly indifferent, but ties must be broken.

Okay let's get rolls.

Fuck I should post the profiles of the characters but...

Roll 3d10+3 for Wulf spying (Wulf has a high as fuck Keen)

Welp here is to good luck.

Edit: well sorry about that. Couldn't we spend a hold from our intimacy move if we need this to succeed?

Unfortunately, your Hold gives advantage, which is what was being given by the help. Good news: that's a partial success. Bad news: Minna, Arren, or both are going to catch a hard move.

This is gonna be a fun update to write.

6-1: Warning Shots
The Red Talons bothered you. Maybe you were thinking about Ewald, maybe the idea of complications to your get rich quick scheme freaked it out. In any case, you wanted to do something about it.

You gathered your squadron close around the table. "Yeah, this could be bad news. If they're here to hit the balloon, they're competition. If they're here to protect it, we're their enemies. And in any case, we might be targets of oppertunity."

"You are right." Minna said. "We should gather intelligence."

"Exactly what I'm thinking. Wulf, you've got the aesthetic down. Go get those fashion tips, buy them a beer, see if you can get them talking." You said. "I dunno, make up some fake mission and see if you can work out what they're here for."

Wulf grinned wickedly. "Sure thing, boss." She said.

"Don't call me that." You said, and moved on quickly. "Minna, Arren, watch her. Keep her safe please."

"Yes, commander!" Minna said.

"Don't call me that either."

"No problem, sweetie." Arren said.

"...Acceptable."

"So..." Wulf leaned over the table. "What will you be doing, sweetie?"

"Oh gods, Wulf. I'm gonna go check out their planes and see what condition they're in, okay? That'll give us more information to work with if they are up to something." You explained.

"I am confused. I do not have to call you sweetie, do I?" Minna said.

"No. Wulf is just a jerk. Okay, let's go."

---

The Red Talon planes were lined up next to yours on the airfield, making inspecting them easy. You just went out to look over your plane. it looked so good in the new colours! And the roundels on the wing, matching the ones on Wulf's little yellow helicopter and Minna's green and white plane, made you feel all fuzzy.

Then, while you sat under the engine rig and pretended to stare at the turbocharger, you threw some glances left and right. You went to the communal table to get some tools, and your walk back gave you a lot of information.

The Red Talon squadron consisted of three single-seaters and two two-seaters. One of them was a Kobra just like Minna's, but a different mark: it was less rounded and had square wing struts instead of V-shapes. Another was a tiny little tandem wing pusher with a rotary engine on the back: it looked pretty fragile, but very fast. The last was a very standard rotary biplane fighter. All carried two machine-guns, though the Kobra also had a light machine-gun on a mount on the upper wing.

The two-seaters were both inline-powered biplanes, one tractor with a rear gunner seat and the other a pusher with a forward gun seat. You noted big, empty bomb racks on each. Probably used them for whatever raid they'd last embarked on.

If you had to guess, the leader of the squadron was flying the standard rotary. That one had the most red on it, like it had landed hard into some big creature and the blood had splashed up over the landing gear and across much of the aircraft. There were six little Xs in red under the cockpit.

Your fake inspection had revealed a real problem, so after pretend-fixing it a while you fetched a real mechanic, and were heading back to the bar when you heard a gunshot. You picked up the pace, your hand closing on the handle of your newly acquired pistol.

---

When you burst through the bar door, you saw Minna pushed back against a table in the back corner. One of the Red Talons was sprawled over the bar, blood running from her nose. Arren was standing between her and the rest of the Red Talons, his rifle pointed, smoke rising from the barrel. Wulf had her hands up, and everyone was standing with their hands on their weapons. Only Arren had drawn, though, and it seemed like nobody wanted to be the first who might get shot by him.

One of the back windows of the bar was smashed. A warning shot.

"What the fuck happened!" You half-screamed, your pistol out. Unsure of what to do, you pointed it at the Red Talons.

Everyone started talking at once.

"No, shut the fuck up! Arren, what happened?"

"That one came up to Minna and started asking about her uniform. They got arguing, she pulled a knife, she caught a rifle butt." He explained tensely. "The others took offense at that, but they weren't very fast on the draw." A glance at the swaying Red Talon crew told you why: they all looked quite drunk. Maybe Minna was right about drinking on duty.

"Minna? You okay?" You said, still keeping your pistol trained on the group. You indicated to Wulf, and she took the chance to scamper away from the enemy squadron and draw her own pistol on them.

"I am not. She cut me." Minna muttered. "Just a bit. Heh. There is a lot of blood." You glanced over and saw how pale she was: there was a hole dead center through her new leather jacket, and her uniform was stained dark. Now that you looked, there was a bloody knife lying on the table.

"The bartender is getting a doctor." Arren said. You nodded weakly and turned your weapon on the Red Talon lying on the ground.

"You got about ten second to explain yourself." You said.

"That bitch is Greifenburg." The woman said. She looked to be maybe twenty, her head shaven. She had a ring piercing through her lip. "They took everything from me."

"You fucking fascists!" One of the pilots yelled. Arren cocked his rifle dramatically.

"Next one of you who speaks out of turn is getting fucking butchered, understand!" He said, flashing his shark teeth. Everyone shut up.

You waved your pistol to indicate her to stand next to her friends. Having her on the floor was just spreading out your targets. You put yourself between Wulf and Arren, forming a wall of firepower between the seven Red Talons and your little group. They could overpower you no problem... providing two or three of them were prepared to die.

"What do we do, Isa?" Arren said. "The longer we wait here, the more likely it is one of them draws down."

"Let's just fucking waste 'em. We got the firepower." Wulf whispered. "They're a bunch of bastards anyway. They just came back from shooting up some little hamlet for missing a payment. I don't think they understand you're just supposed to scare 'em."

[ ] What do you do?

[X] Get out, and head to your planes.
-[X] Slice their wings if you pass them, or cut some stringers. They'll be dumb enough to come after you and you'll be ready.

That's cool! They have a Dragonfly! Is it an early model or a Super Dragonfly though? The image is of the basic model, but I'm curious about this. The rest are kind of unremarkable though.

It's a slightly upgraded Dragonfly running a 130hp engine and more internal reinforcements.

Minna needs a doctor now, running is going to mean it takes a long time to get her one.

[X] "You have injured one of mine, and I'd be in my right to shoot you all down right here. But this ain't my town, and it would be rude. So you are all gonna drop your weapons right now, and come wait outside for the watch. Real slow, anyone make any sudden moves, and you will get a bullet for your troubles." After they get outside Wulf and Arren cover them with the Rifle and the LMG from the plane, and Isabelle gets what passes for local law.

Doctor's already coming to us, apparently. Probably better not to move Minna if we don't have to. I'm also skeptical of our ability to order them around like that; I feel like our best bet here is to try and de-escalate the situation somehow, not threaten them more aggressively. The more tense things stay, the higher the odds one of them goes for their gun, and it'll only take one.

To clarify, Minna has 1 point of Injury. She's not in actual danger of bleeding out but she does really want to get patched up. Cuts just bleed a lots, and she's a little in shock.

She won't die if you get out and go right now, but she won't be a big fan of it and will take oodles of stress, which will translate to probably trust breaking and drama.

[X] Tell them to put down their weapons, so that you can discuss this like reasonable people. After that, get a compensation for injury and doctor's fees, and hint that you're leaving in the wrong direction, so that they go somewhere else.

I like this well enough. Also, I'm simultaneously intimidated by and envious of that upgraded dragonfly.

Roll +Hard, please!

[X] "She isn't Greifenburg now, is she? She's mine. That's my squadron's colors on her jacket, my rondel on her plane, and my pilot you just stabbed. You want to talk about getting payback and justice for what you lost to her city? Then I should shoot you all for that Hamlet you just shot up. So. You are going to pay me compensation for injuring my pilot, and leave this town, or I'm going to start killing you one by one now and finish by calling down the old gods to eat anyone who runs. What'll it be?"

Let's go for a rep as a hardass! And let's create some separation for Minna from the city who exiled her.

Edit: oops! Late for vote. Removed, sorry!

2nd Edit: @Artificial Girl is on board? Nm that last edit, restoring...
