What's the most Cringeworthy Alternate History you've ever read?

That TL is an assault on my brain and I'm pressing charges!
It's also a satirical TL/map to make fun of terrible alternate history tropes and the habits of bad mapmakers like RvBOmalley.

Not even bothering to change countries the mapmaker isn't interested in (like Iberia), wanking right wing versions of Germany and America, illogically placed Japanese colonies, randomly placed governments in exile, having the Byzantine Empire stick around without seriously changing the course of eastern European geopolitics and China is making fun of RvB's "ideal" society where someone heavily coded as him is the immortal god emperor of China and the world (and the massive insurgencies being what would actually happen if he tried to rule according to his vision), while Russia is a mash up of trashy Russian alternate history novels and as such is a messy hell of National Bolshevist Tsarism and Evangelion references.

Hey now, RvBOmally has never tried to pass his creations off as plausible AH.
That may be, but he's a talentless reactionary hack with a kneejerk phobia about (((SJWs))) who unironically believes that he'd make a great absolute ruler for humanity and probably the worst influence on alternate history around.

what.

Here's another one I thought of.

Saproneth's ACW timeline where the union is hilariously incompetent and is easily defeated by glorious Britannia on all fronts, allowing the confederacy to be an independent nation.

It died when the author got banned for saying blacks were better off as slaves than they were during reconstruction.

Anglo-German Empire, Byzantine Congo, Imperial Japanese Ethiopia, Judaslamic Randomid Zionist Caliphate.
Ah so someone's converted CK2 game.

I see nothing cringe here sir :V

Well this is disappointing, still I don't care how shitty he is as a person I will always love Ad Astra Per Aspera.

The entire family of Civil War TLS by British authors (alongside the occasional Canadian) wherein the Civil War is essentially leapt into by Britannia as a way to kick the uppity colonials when they're down and thus ensure that the USA never is a serious rival so the sun may never set on the British Empire does tend to be quite regrettable, yes.

I know that SV is has a bad view over that sort of thing, but that's not something I have ever noticed about these things. Sure I get a sense of right leaning but a lot of his maps are all over the place politics wise and they're only bad places to live because dystopia is a long-running theme and is given to all sides. He has made both right wing and left wing dystopias because they all have the potential to fuck up.

Also unironically thinks him self a good ruler? Maybe I'm just a bad judge of character but that seems to just be a power fantasy for fun, I used to do it before my self esteem got too low, now I just fantasize vicariously through other characters or OCs

I think, from my utterly uninformed opinion, that this is probably a case where what the author views as dystopian and what the reader views as dystopian don't line up. I.E. what you see as a form of right-wing hellhole is actually what the author views as an ideal government, and he hasn't learned how to mask his (probable, I don't know the author in question) fascism in plausible deniability.

If that were the case the Coalition of Western Republics would've won, and he doesn't believe that he and others is worthless and must work for the good of the state like the united technocracies of man
Timeline 15 RVB
This map gives me the impression of him being libertarian right, but even he states it's not perfect

That's probably at least a little bit true, but that's got a lot more to do with how the South as a whole responded to Reconstruction and Emancipation than anything inherent to the former slaves.

Isn't that the one with a royal/imperial Kennedy Dynasty? And the TL stretches on into the far future where there's a Definitely-Not-The-Imperium-of-Man? And there's lots of paint.net made illustrations?

Edit: I think I'm thinking of something else, actually. But it's bugging me because I can't remember what I'm thinking of.

No, he is pretty straightforward about all of his settings being improbable dystopias. I generally like his stuff.

I believe you're thinking of something else, Ad Astra Per Aspera has a POD that predates the Kennedys.

RvBomally is a good mapmaker, even if his scenarios lack they certainly look good. They're the reason why I don't depict politics in my setting as being dominated by space filling empires, because he gave me the alternative of painting allies in a lighter shade of color to denote affiliation

Collaborative TLs. Not even once.

Speaking of which the fans of "Queen Nixon in Nelson Mandela 4 Apartheid" are trying to keep the damn thing going now that the original author has finally abandoned it.

I expect horrors beyond counting.

I feel obligated to reveal to you all that the continuation of "Queen Nixon in Nelson Mandela 4 Apartheid" has seen the "ironic" death of Pinochet.

By falling out of a helicopter while pushing a "communist" out during a death ride.

The answer is the stunning sequel to "Queen Nixon in 'Nelson Mandela 4 Apartheid'", "Queen Nixon in 'Pinochet Takes a Helicopter Ride'". It is certainly something other than else.

You can probably murder someone in broad daylight in a public space and get away with it if you claim it was ironic assuming the Jury were made out of internet edgelords and the person you shot wasn't white.

Where does the name "Queen Nixon" actually come from?

The writer's twitter account is also a treasure trove of reaganite-trumpet hot takes.
