I think we can call the vote there with a very commanding lead for Ordo Xenos.
Can I get 1 more roll of 2d10 and my monkeys can start slaving away on their typewriters.

Character Creation part 5
Have a vote while I'm writing the next update.
First, let's take care of a couple of final details from character creation.

Weapons (Choose 1 melee and 1 ranged)
[] RANGED: Best-Craftsmanship laspistol.
[] RANGED: Best-Craftsmanship stub automatic.
[] MELEE: Best-Craftsmanship mono-sword.
[] MELEE: Common-Craftsmanship shock staff.

Background bonus item (Choose one)
[] A plain, though well-crafted, Aeldari sword.
[] A compact and powerful pistol of Tau design.
[] A trade agreement with the mysterious Stryxis.
[] Write-in GEAR: One Xenos weapon or piece of gear from the books (Subject to QM approval)

Crew
You may vote for as many NPC crew members as you like, the four with the most votes will join you on your journeys.

[] Master of Trade
Scion of a wealthy Calixian noble house, though he won't say which, Jeremias Rostat has made an art of navigating the cutthroat world of the nobility. A talent which has translated nicely into more mercantile interests. Information is his blade and commercial contracts are his shield.

[] Enginseer Prime
Enigmatic, even by the standards of the Adeptus Mechanicus, Magos Eta-3-Rhan came aboard just before you set sail for Port Wander and quickly claimed the Engineerium as his own personal demesne.

[] Executive Officer
You have never seen the Vostroyan-born Tremaine Markos in anything other than his perfectly tailored full dress uniform, complete with data-monocle and immaculately groomed handlebar moustache.

[] Master-At-Arms
Hector Bayalah served with distinction with the Cadian 7th for many years. After a particularly gruelling campaign against an Ork Waaagh! left him with a bionic arm, leg and eye, Hector accepted his honourable discharge and purchased his commission with a merchant trader.

[] Master Helmsman
Rarely seen without a lho stick in her mouth, even on the bridge. Celestane Seralis is one of the best pilots you have ever encountered, and is terrifyingly competent behind the controls of just about any flyer or void craft you can imagine.

[] Chief Chirurgeon
Amberlyn, Sister Hospitaller of the Order of the Scarlet Rose, is one of the few surviving members of her order after a Dark Eldar raid targeted their convent. Amberlyn and her sisters fought back fiercely, and when the Dark Eldar finally retreated, they did so empty-handed. But only five sisters of the Scarlet Rose remained. Amberlyn wandered for several years, serving various Inquisitors and Rogue Traders, before making a home for herself as your Chief Chirurgeon.

[] Choir Master Telepathica
(QM note: I have absolutely nothing for this character. Tag me if you think of something cool and I might edit it in. There may be some sort of write-in bonus for it too.)

[] Navigator Primaris
Old Man Xan'Tai, as he is affectionately known by the crew, has been the ship's Navigator for as long as anyone can remember. And even the ships logs, such as they are, have no records of any other Navigator Primaris.

Xenos Crew
You may select one Xenos crew member.

[] The Outcast - An Aeldari Ranger who claims to have a debt to repay to you for saving her life. You're not quite sure how you saved her life, or if it has even happened yet.

[] The Engineer - A Jokaero has made itself at home in the vast engineerium of your ship. Initially regarded as something of a pest, the Tech Priests have learned that when a Jokaero tinkers, they should pay attention.

[] The Brute - An Ork constantly searching for bigger and better fights. You just hope he doesn't get bored and decide to take on the entire crew.

[] The Savage - A Kroot mercenary whose remarkable survival and tracking abilities almost make up for the more disturbing practices of his kind.

[] Write-in XENOS: One Xenos NPC crew idea (Subject to QM approval).

Ship

Sure, let's start building the ship too… surely the voting won't be that complicated…

What class of ship do you possess?

[] Transport
Transports sacrifice speed, manoeuvrability, and armour for cavernous cargo holds. They can be excellent multi-role vessels, as long as combat is not one of those roles.

[] Raider
Small, fast, manoeuvrable, and heavily armed for their size, raiders are built for speed and combat. Unfortunately, their large engines and heavy weaponry leave little space for armour or cargo.

[] Frigate
A true "Jack-of-all-trades", a good frigate can outrun anything it can't outfight. Only slightly larger than raiders, frigates are designed to balance weapons, speed, manoeuvrability, and defences. A well designed frigate can even manage a moderate amount of cargo without negatively impacting its other functions.

[] Light Cruiser
Designed to balance combat prowess with long-range endurance, light cruisers are smaller, faster, and less durable than true cruisers, but can pack capital ship weapons onto a frame only slightly slower and less manoeuvrable than a frigate. Light cruisers can also be difficult to maintain and repair due to their larger size and complexity

[] Cruiser
An invaluable treasure to most all Rogue Traders, but one that can be as much peril as promise. In addition to the difficulty of even finding a shipyard in the Expanse which is able to handle a ship of this size, a Rogue Trader with such a vessel will find an abundance of enemies scheming to take it from him.

[] Grand Cruiser
Just kidding. You're not starting with a grand cruiser…

QM notes:
The way NPC crew will work is (I think) simple.
Your ship will have a crew rating of 30 to start with.
Your NPC crew will have bonuses to a handful of skills they are good at and some narrative bonuses (tbd). This way I dont have to build half a dozen characters and you don't get penalised for not having a whole party.

The way building a ship is going to work is (kind of) simple. Once we have a general class I will provide a handful of ready made ships to choose from. Alternatively, you can choose a hull which will come with all basic essential components and you can customise to your heart's content (with a plan vote)
Raiders, frigates and small transports will be able to be pimped out. Large transports and light cruisers will be fully functional but nothing super special. Do not expect to be flying a fully armed and operational battlestation cruiser.

Finally, my apologies to those of you who came in expecting a proper update. With the word count I certainly would have.

[X] Navigator Primaris

- navigators have some of the coolest powers in the RPG from detecting warp objects to teleporting, to chasing ships, this is our guy!

Also for ships, the fast clippers transport are amazing for being fast and having a hard point that can fire in all directions (i forgot the name of the hard point, the dorsal maybe?) As for cruisers, star galleon since it can take both cruiser and transport components plus its artwork is awesome.

I feel like this rounds us out a bit better in terms of core options. We need to find a priest and some ship handlers next. Plus this is RT you have to get the Light Cruiser!

Your rolls for characteristics were pretty bang on average once we dropped the lowest.
For the curious: 13, 11, 11, 11, 10, 10, 10, 9, 8, 5

It is almost suspicious how average our rogue trader is. Atleast in stats.

I think being friendly with the Aeldari will be a great boon to our house, within reason of course. Also as I play a Vostroyon regiment on the tabletop I just had to vote for the Executive Officer, but what I'm really interested in if he is a Firstborn who survived long enough or a well-off secondborn.

Closing the vote there so I can finalise the update.

The physical lurch of your ship dropping out of the warp is quickly followed by a mental shiver as the protective shroud of the Gellar field lifts from your psychic senses.
"Lord-Captain, all decks report no issues during translation, the Warp drive is offline and the Gellar field has dissipated."
You nodded to your first officer, "thank you Mister Markos. Have the Mids completed their temporal slippage calculations?"
"Aye Sir. Calculations indicate 411.197. Only twelve days drift, Navigator Xan'Tai held a good course."
Stepping away to let the Vostroyan return to his duties, you gazed out through the unshuttered vistaplate. Out here on the outskirts of the system there was no way you would be able to see Port Wander with the naked eye, and even the giant star of the system, Rubycon Majoris, only appeared as a bright, red dot amongst the vast expanse of space. And beyond the deceptively peaceful veil of reality two mighty warp storms raged, leaving only a tiny corridor of relative safety to the Koronus Expanse itself.
You shake yourself from your musings and turn to the auspex crew. "Navigation, do we have a fix on Port Wander."
One of the Mids stands to attention and snaps off a quick salute, "Yessir! Port Wander beacon detected 38 degrees spinward and twelve LM sunward. Course plotted and sent to.. "
"Yeah yeah, I got it." Your Master Helmsman, a Catachan woman with fiery red hair, exhaled a cloud of smoke from her ever-present lho stick as her fingers danced across her console. "Orbital orientation is good. Looking at twelve days, nine if you let me shave the approach burn."
You could see the excitement in her aura at just the thought of such a dangerous manoeuvre. "Perhaps another time Miss Seralis," you respond with a grin. "This is my first time to Port Wander, and I wouldn't like to upset anybody until I know who's worth upsetting."
She settled back into her chair with a sigh and a faux salute, "slow and boring it is, Aye Aye Sir!"
Even without your abilities you could feel your first officer's seething indignation at her seeming disrespect, but you knew it was just the way of her people.
With a grin you turn and head back to your command throne, "you have the bridge, Miss Seralis. Be nice to my ship."
"Mister Markos, you're with me. Jeremias awaits us and I'm afraid we can no longer postpone our fate." With a grimace of distaste, the Vostroyan fell into step alongside you as you left through the ornately carved golden door at the rear of the bridge.
Almost before the door had closed behind you your first officer shared his opinion, "I don't appreciate that woman's lack of respect, sir. Surely there are other helmsmen at your disposal?"
"Be at peace, Tremaine." You briefly clap a hand to his shoulder, mindful not to disturb his epaulettes. "As long as Celestane doesn't actually perform a suicide-burn approach to Port Wander, I am willing to put up with her disrespectful nature. She will show me the proper respect when I have earned it from her."
He nodded, accepting your decision even if he didn't like it. "Besides, I much prefer her straightforward candour to all the 'polite' verbal sparring and back-stabbing that Jeremias' contacts seem to relish in."
"Hmph. Can't argue with that sir."
The elevator ride down the bridge spire passes quickly and soon deposits you at one end of the Grand Corridor, running from below the bridge spire all the way to the prow observation decks. Over a hundred metres wide and almost four kilometres long, the Grand Corridor served as the hub for shipboard life. Off-duty crew traded goods and services from semi permanent stalls, preachers offered sermons and took confessions, ley-mechanics repaired dataslates and pict viewers. The space thrummed with the hustle and bustle of the small city that it was.
Being in no great hurry, you elected not to bother with the mag-trams running parallel down each side of the corridor, instead enjoying the walk to the series of suites and offices your Master of Trade had claimed as his own in the midsection of the ship.
"Lord-Captain Cayce," the man welcomed you with a shallow bow, one you know to be precisely calculated to acknowledge your superior station, while still respecting his own noble status. "Welcome to my humble demesne."
You carefully suppress a snort as you incline your head in response, just as Jeremias had spent the last six months teaching you. "Your gracious hospitality is a credit to your house." For a moment you maintain the pretentious air of faux nobility before a chuckle breaks through your composure, "is all this really necessary, Jeremias? I can't imagine I'll ever fool anybody with my clumsy airs and graces."
"Oh good Emperor, no. Lord-Captain, it is immediately apparent that you are not of noble blood, and the less said about your High Gothic the better. But while some will always regard you as an upstart, there are others who will appreciate you making an effort to comport yourself properly in high society."
"Hopefully, once we make it through the Maw, interactions with the nobility will be less frequent. With the exception of your gracious personage of course."
"My Lord, even with your abilities, your luck is not that good." Jeremias chuckled as he relaxed and leaned against his desk, "I understand we're on approach to Port Wander?" At your nod he continued, "beyond resupply, what are you hoping to accomplish?"
