[X] The Auger
Your family thought you were going crazy when you said your goodbyes and wandered into the rolling savannahs of your home.
You walked for a full day and night before you reached the Inquisitor's campsite, but it was only a short conversation and a quick demonstration of your ability before he called for his lander to take you to the orbiting Black Ship.
You were nervous, of course, as you stepped off the lander. Your abilities had revealed the path to you, but it was too dangerous to try and foresee the entire journey. You did not know how difficult the life you had chosen would be.
Looming gargoyles and eerie cherubim seemed to follow you with eyeless gazes as you were escorted through the dark halls. Four women in black and red power armour keeping a careful watch on you, along with a fifth woman who seemed… empty to your senses. Finally, they stopped before a nondescript door, identical to countless others you had passed, which opened to plain though comfortable accommodations.
On the morning of the fifth day you felt the vibrations through the deck as the mighty engines roared to life and the ship broke orbit, and you received your first visitor. The Inquisitor from the surface, who introduced himself as Kaede, brought the Emperor's Tarot and asked you to attempt a reading.
Such visitations became common, sometimes consisting of a test of your abilities, sometimes mundane or psychic training. Always Kaede would leave you with an exercise or meditation to practise, or a text to study.
The journey to Terra was long, the ship's Navigator taking only the very shallowest currents of the Warp. These routes were slow, but also much safer, as the ship was less likely to attract the attention of the Warp's denizens.
By the time the ship made its final Warp translation of the journey, you had received almost two years of instruction in the basics of safely channelling the Warp. Or at least, as safely as it was possible to be with such a dangerous source of power.
When you arrived you were assessed by a new Inquisitor, accompanied by a withered looking man with empty sockets where his eyes should be, and a figure shrouded in obscuring robes. The room was silent for a time as the Inquisitor read through your file before he finally put the dataslate aside and sat back in his chair. "Your power is very interesting," he began, "and is one that we believe would be best cultivated by formal instruction within the Scholastica Psykana."
《You will do well with us.》 The voice was sourceless, words forming directly in your mind. The shrouded figure stepped forward, placing a battered Emperor's Tarot on the desk in front of you, 《we have foreseen it.》
You carefully took the deck, muttered a prayer to the Emperor while you shuffled, then cut the deck into three piles.
From the first pile, the past, you draw the Pilgrim. A man in simple brown robes with many possible paths before him. "Representing the limitless potential of mankind", you murmur, just loud enough to be heard. Your fingers deftly flip the second card, the present, "The Inquisitor, representing service and sacrifice for the betterment of humanity. Also, knowledge and the wisdom to know when to use it."
You hesitated for a moment before the final card, the future, feeling the anticipation in the auras of the other three. But then, "The God Emperor. Warp travel and discovery. And hope."
The next five years are beyond anything you could have imagined. You study the ebb and flow of the Warp, learning how to interpret its whims without the aid of a tarot. And how to apply the insights gained to best effect. You also learn how to communicate what you perceive to other imperial servants, be they Inquisitor, Guard General or Navy Admiral.
With your gruelling years of training completed, you are finally deemed ready to fulfil your oaths of service to Imperium.

Your training has provided you with a knack for divination.

[-] Aura Reading (base power, you already have this)
Gain insights about a person's personality, intentions, and mental state by reading their aura.
[] Detect Taint
Discern the touch of the Warp on people/things.
[] Foreshadow
Read the currents of the Warp to aid in choosing the correct path (bonus to next skill check).
[] In Harm's Way
Predict the ebb and flow of combat (gain bonus to your hit chance and enemy have penalty to hit you).
Please keep demeanour to a few words, or a short sentence at most.
I'd also like to stick with male/female please. I have no issue with non-binary or trans individuals. I'm just not sure that I can adequately represent a character who identifies as such.
Go wild with appearance but no bionic augments yet (don't worry, you'll have plenty of opportunities to lose limbs). Also remember that you are not an Astropath Transcendent and so have not had your eyes burned out via Soul Binding with Big E.
Also, I noticed a few people saying to vote for "The Commander because you need the command skill". Try not to worry too much about things like that. I have taken into account that this is usually a game of 3-6 players. You will be at least competent at running a starship and you will have an NPC crew to help fill in the blanks in your skills.
And finally, can I have 10 rolls of 2d10 please.
