Welcome to Brightton.

Brightton. A small town, peaceful, nestled between the deep woods to the south and east, the coast to the west, and mountains to the north. Peaceful, until recently, that is. Then the deaths started occurring. A town of a hundred or so, perhaps as many as two hundred, and frequent enough visitors, originally, at this point reduced to less than two dozen. The deaths began slowly, but as the winter storms snowed in the only pass through the mountains, and the remaining visitors fled through the woods, the deaths escalated, until they were nightly.

And right after the mountain pass was snowed in, the profane, clearly magical altar, covered in skulls, and inscribed with the names of the dead, was found, in the town square. Each new death, a new name appeared upon it in the night. The foulest sort of magic that was spoken of in the darkest of nights.

Not that any upstanding citizen would speak of magic openly, oh my no, but this, such a ritual of death and slaughter is almost beyond belief.

And today, it's been decided that enough is enough. Those remaining assemble, in the town square, a wary distance from the dark altar, and beside the town gallows. The killer, or killers, must be among those that remain, and the town whips itself into a frenzy, determined to settle this, by hanging the most suspect until the killing stops.

This is a forum mafia game. If you aren't familiar with that, I direct you to SV's Mafia Megathread.

Said thread

Otherwise, this is a fifteen player set up, and not first come first serve. I'll give preference to who I see fit. Rules post to follow.

Rules mostly borrowed from Dekutulla. Lemme know if you think I missed something important.

RULES
  1. All roles will be randomly assigned.
  2. The game will be separated into Day and Night phases. Each Day phase is 72 hours, each Night phase is 48 hours or when I get all the Night Actions. If you have an extremely good reason, I may give an extension.
  3. Always always always post at least once per Day Phase! It'd be nice if you did it once every 24 hours.
  4. Lynches will be determined by majority hammer. That means that, when one player gets a majority of the vote, Day Phase ends automatically and they are lynched. If no hammer occurs before day's end, lynch will occur by plurality at day's end.
  5. Do not write illegible, hidden, or coded messages. Invisitext isn't as cute as you think it is.
  6. DO NOT DISCUSS THE GAME WITH OTHER PLAYERS OUTSIDE THIS THREAD. Only talk to another player elsewhere if there is something in your role that allows it. If you're talking elsewhere, impersonating other players is not allowed.
  7. DO NOT EDIT YOUR POSTS. If you gotta fix something, doublepost.
  8. DO NOT DIRECTLY QUOTE YOUR ROLE PM'S. If you gotta mention it, paraphrase.
  9. When you die, you gotta stop posting. You get one freebie message of literally no game value, and then you're out.
  10. When you vote, make it REALLY BIG and REALLY BRIGHT. When you unvote someone, make it REALLY BIG and REALLY BRIGHT. ALWAYS INCLUDE AN UNVOTE MESSAGE IF YOU'RE SWITCHING YOUR VOTE SO I KNOW HOW TO COUNT IT.
  11. Do not use SV's die roller. You can randomly select if you feel like, but I am not allowing the verifiable random decision created that way.
  12. If you got a question, or you're confused about something, ask me.
  13. Finally, do not act against the spirit of the game. This is a nebulous term, but includes such things as "Taking your ball and going home". Always keep fighting for yourself, always be trying to win. Don't give up, basically.
BREAKING THE RULES IS PUNISHABLE BY ANYTHING UP TO A MODKILL.

Mmm, I'm very unsatisfied with how I performed last time.
I wanna see if I can turn it around.

I'm very unsatisfied with my poor decision to join a game right before death week.

Let's not get mod-removed this time.

Count me in.

Lessee. That's eight out of fifteen. I'll give it about a day or two, assuming we can get fifteen in that timeframe, and then make my final selections if we have more than fifteen signed up.

What mafia version? are the roles going to be hidden knowledge or open knowledge with only the player to figure out? is it gonna have items like the last game? are you still writing that up?

As in, what flavour? at the moment it seems basically vanilla, but could be wrong.

I have my suspicions, but I'll stay quiet until the game starts.

15 isn't a conventional number.

Most SV Mafia games have been hidden set ups, with Assembler's as a rare exception. I have a complete set up, though I have remaining reservations about balance, but I suspect I would even if I spent longer refining it so I'm going forward as is since it is, after all, my turn in the que.

To be more direct, it's a hidden set up and you'll only necessarily know your own role.

Volunteering as redshirt/N1 death again (perhaps only to ironically somehow be the last survivor).

Lessee. Looks like fourteen candidates, then, thus far. Need one more at minimum. Anyone have particular opinions on how long I should leave this whole recruiting stage open?
