Warhammer Fantasy: Norsca United! (CK2)

Literally nobody wants gold from Ulthuan to give our dragon a hoard at long last and make sure it actually stays? I am bit sad about that.

I will write up my own plan when it is not 1 am and I have actually managed to sleep some.

I'm open to it, but I'd also like better relations with Ulthuan. I'd be willing to change, though.

Role Reversal
In a strange twist of fate, Chaos worshipers have begun to travel north from the Empire of Man to raid Norsca. To make matters worse, they frequently pose as Imperial merchant ships and inflict much damage before their true nature is revealed. Your own naval patrols must err on the side of caution because, if they were to attack an actual merchant ship, or even a Chaos ship that Imperials believe to be legitimate, you might start a war with the most powerful human nation in this hemisphere.

-500 Jotun
Question.

Could we just, you know, tell the Empire that due to Chaos raids they cannot send their merchants to us for the next few years? I mean, sure, they might get a little peeved but I figure they'll probably get over it once we allow them back and it's better than risking a war.

This way, if any merchants come from there we know it's Chaos and are free to fire on them?

[X] The Singer: Blessing the Dwarfs - You would have waited to do the fertility ritual on a thinking creature until after you did it on an animal, but Grunni Kazisson told Ingga that he's very interested in any way to increase his people's population. The Dwarf king wants you to send your Singerite shamans to Kraka Drak and other Dwarf holds, so they can spend a year setting up the ritual and then five years systematically blessing every Dwarf woman who wants a child. For the five years the shamans work, Kazisson will lend you the services of a group of his engineers. On top of that, he will pay you a handsome sum.

Cost: 0 Time: 6 years Chance of Success: 60% Reward: +1 Stewardship Action and special Dwarf Craftmanship bonus for stewardship actions for 5 turns (starting next year). Unlock Dwarf Stewardship options. 100 Goods. Increased Dwarf population. Good chance of increased Dwarf Opinion

Finishes in TWO years
Is there any way we can renew this contract once it is over?

Is this the last year we can choose any of the 2 year Dwarf Engineer options?

It's not like the Empire controls the actions of their merchants. We could set up an embargo, but that would seriously hurt our relations and cut income even further. Best thing to do is just reinforce the borders and up the hunt for Chaos.

That's the idea. Loss of secrecy in exchange for better diplomacy and powerfull artifacts. We don't need to give them enough food just enough to get all the foreign nationals out of the country then stop. If they grab new people then we blockade them.

But people knowing we're helping the Chaos Dwarves would erase any goodwill from freeing slaves and then some. Especially with our Dwarf allies.

why don't we just ask our Dwarf allies for their suggestion? they have more knowledge about the 2 forces fighting than we do as we've never really dealt with Chaos dwarfs or Greenskins before.
could give us runes to put of food shipments that would explode/kill both the chaos dwarfs and greenskins etc.

Let's not help the Chaos Dwarves. It's one thing to not put a stop to our people selling the food, but it's another thing entirely to go out of our way to help the Chaos Dwarves especially when we have so many other actions we need to do that will not piss off our greatest ally.

Now, selling them poisoned food is another matter entirely. In fact, is that an options?

@ancusohm Can we poison the food the Chaos Dwarves are buying up?

I'm open to it I just figured that meeting the Everqueen would be a better idea.

I personally like your plans most of the time so I will most likely vote for yours.

[X] Freya
[X] Ask to meet with the Everqueen - You don't need her healing, but perhaps you and Ashi would like to meet with the only other living demigod
[X] Establish the Great Mother in Bountiful Basket - This newly reclaimed hold is in a secluded but fertile valley with enough room to hold many fields and creature pens. She'll have room to work and will stay away from Hall, but you'll have to pay more to set it up, and it will be tougher to defend.

I have switched to blockade chaos dwarfs. One thing to remember is that we have net income of 2,515 and it is fairly easy to go over that. Also I would like to say we need to do convert norsca this turn, already we have khorne trying to sneak back in, if we through a TPA on it we get a +41 bonus from Thorfin and this way we can convert all of them away from Chaos. Also let us build the wall for Kislev, it helps repair our relationships with the monarch to the south and earns us good will. It should also help against the Kurgan and reduce events hitting our trade with Kislev.

As for the elves, a meeting with the queen should give us unique insights we would not have otherwise.

@ancusohm is the 3,000 we are getting from Marienburg every turn for five turns included in the income displayed or is that added separately?

I feel like we shouldn't bother blockading the Chaos Dwarves.

Fact is, the Chaos Dwarves are going to lose. The Greenskins are going to kill them, it's only a matter of time. The Dwarves already like us a bunch, we don't need more approval from them.

It seems to make more sense to do a raid and weaken one of our many enemies, or build up our army for the coming wars with Naggaroth, the Troll Wastes, presumably those nomad dudes, possibly the Greenskins after they kill the Chaos Dwarves, and of course Chaos.

It just feels like a waste of time when we know that the Chaos Dwarves are going to die, while on the other hand the Troll Wastes are getting uppity are becoming a problem and we might be going to war with Naggaroth soon.

1. Well, at least Moulder's new leader will have his eyes turned inward as often as not. We couldn't have expected the rat games to continue forever anyway.

2. We need to better deal with the disguised chaos ships; perhaps we can find a way to ensure verification of legit merchants (or get plans filed ahead of time)

3. Let's step hard on the Khornates among the Varg's lands.

4. Well... I guess having those seeking death guarding our wife is good?

5. I'm fine with the ogre coup - we get more warriors, they get kinder gods, neighbors don't have to worry about becoming dinner.

6. Oooh... weaken Grom or weaken the Zharr. I'd probably go with letting things be, with a bit of a lean towards blockading. Greenskins are *always* going to be a problem, but the Chaos Dwarves are finite.

[X] Establish the Great Mother in Bountiful Basket - This newly reclaimed hold is in a secluded but fertile valley with enough room to hold many fields and creature pens. Probably best to be careful here.

[X] Ogre Uniforms & Coup
[X] Retirement Plan: Heimgard
[X] Expanding the Armies: Air Force

I think its worth trying for the ogre coup and armor. In the meantime, showing our generosity to those who serve us is important and boosting our forces is valuable - I prefer the air force myself, at least for now.

[X] Naming Jarls: Skaeland and Vargland
[X] Heimgard Needs Children
[X] Expedition to Araby

We definitely need the Jarls. And more people. I'd go with Araby for #3 - I'm not sure I want the Imperial cults gaining too much influence locally and I would actually prefer that Brettonia go for some Naggaroth colonies. The grand tour might be worth doing, mind you.

[X] Hunting Chaos: Heimgard
[X] Hunting Mutants: Heimgard
[X] Infiltrate: The Empire
[X] Scout: Naggaroth

I want to know what's going on with the Empire and do a bit of looking around on Naggaroth. However, I definitely want to be focusing inward here to deal with cults and unacceptable mutants.

[X] Dharbreaks

When in doubt, more dharbreaks.

[X] Convert Norsca
[X] The Next Generation

Some options for looking forward - both to deal with Chaos sentiment and towards a stronger magical tradition.

[X] Dwarf Engineers
-[X] Improve Infrastructure in New Lands
[X] A Wall of Fortresses: The North

Some infrastructure, some defense.

[X] Runes in Flesh: Yggdrasil
[X] Cultivating Starwood
[X] Grand Census

The ones I like the most. A bit of prep for future projects, starting up a valuable resource and reaching for the stars on something big.

[X] Spend time with Anyah and Bogdan
[X] Spend time with Astah, Rana, and Ahloynah
[X] High Magic

Tempted to go all-in with the spending time options, but decided that a bit of self-improvement wouldn't go amiss.

[X] Bjornlingers: Talk shipbuilding with the High Elves
[X] Baersonligners: Raid the Kurgans
[X] Graelings: Chaos hunting

I don't want the Bjornlingers to do anything too active until they've build up a bit. The Kurgans make me a touch nervous - I'd like to see if we can't cut away a bit of their muscle. And we can't have too much chaos-hunting at present.

Don't forget to assign DD and personal attentions.

[X] Freya

Seems like a fine name.

[X] Ask to meet with the Everqueen - You don't need her healing, but perhaps you and Ashi would like to meet with the only other living demigod

We don't particularly need the other items, and a personal meeting with the Everqueen can be enlightening and good for diplomatic contact.

She's not going to get along with Hall at all. And she'd need space for her own experiments.

[X] Ogre Uniforms & Coup

[X] Retirement Plan: Heimgard
[X] Expanding the Armies: Gnoblars

More loyal ogres are good, as is a retirement plan for our veterans.
I don't think the Chaos Dwarves need any interference at this point, and I DO like our omake bonus gnoblars.

[X] Call for Immigrants: Bretonnia
[X] Naming Jarls: Skaeland and Vargland
[X] Working with Witch Hunters

Last call for the immigrants, so in they go. The Jarls give 2 extra actions, so them too.
We have a cultist problem, so Witch Hunters.

[X] Hunting Chaos: Heimgard
[X] Hunting Mutants: Heimgard
[X] Scout: Troll Country
[X] Halfling Vampire Hunters

Fuck chaos, fuck chaos, keep an eye open for Skaven movement and get more skills in.

[X] Dharbreaks

Could always use more of them.

[X] Convert Norsca
-[X] TPA - Convert Norsca
-[X] DD - Convert Norsca
[X] Ice Magic 102

We need Ice Magic to be done to give our Ward a good life that doesn't go to suicide, and a massive success on convertin Norsca is VITAL to putting a stop to this internal Chaos shit.

[X] Dwarf Engineers
-[X] Artillery School
[X] In the Navy! EXTENDED
-[X] Focus on Southern Norscan
[X] A Wall of Fortresses: The North
-[X] DD - A Wall of Fortresses: The North

Easy picks here aside from the dwarves but we need home grown artillery, so that's in. Need a fleet up soon too to head off raiders from the SOUTH(wut), so in it goes, and start fortifying even further. I don't trust the North being quiet.

[X] Cultivating Starwood
[X] High Elf Shipbuilding
[X] Public Education

Cultivating Starwood because you can't keep saplings in storage and expect them to not die.
Shipbuilding to go with the navy building action.
Public Education is extremely good for getting our religions in at the ground level before Chaos has any chance to start.

[X] Spend time with Anyah and Bogdan
[X] Spend time with Astah, Rana, and Ahloynah
[X] Spend time with your council, the Jarls, and Tabitha

Time with our wards and family, keep the Jarls cooperative.

[X] Bjornlingers: Preach for Manaan.
[X] Baersonligners: Conversion Efforts
[X] Graelings: Chaos hunting

Summary: Fuck chaos x3

Well,I think meet Everqueen should be good if we want to pass on demigodhood to later generation,Maybe we can learn form elven how to combine soul and pass on to leader in next generation.

About Grom and chaos dwarve,I think let them duke it out.

Let's leave the current situation with the Chaos Dwarfs alone cause they are getting enough food to still fight Grom but not enough to be a threat to us later and if we blockade them they die faster and we have to deal with Grom sooner.

Best course of action is to continue letting them fight it out with no actions on our part.

I don't know Waagh's come and go but we have the opportunity to end a major Destro faction here.

We can pretty much end them at anytime since they only have two Holds left with no food income past smuggling.

We can blockade them at anytime we want but right now they are a good distraction for Grom.

Though I'd note that given Ariel and Orion it's probably not too accurate to refer to the Everqueen as the only other living demigod.
