Well, at the moment We've got a near mythic general who very much wants to preserve the EMPIRE, so if we earn his loyalty that'll go a long way. In fact, let's get our Cabal of loyal unto death Nerubians to help us push our Glorious Vision of the empire's future. We'll be just like a hot blooded anime protagonist...except we're also a spider.

The first step is coming to understand how HE understands Glory and loyalty to the empire, and figure out how to shape that to what WE want.

That might work if your character even believed it.
Yeah... considering the state of the empire as it is right now... We KNOW that we are easily the most dominant force on the continent. And that if we REALLY wanted to we could wipe out everything except for the Trolls to a MAN.

Unfortunately, the undead situation is kind of an unbelievable shake up in what has been a status quo with us at the very top for a LONG LONG time.

Soo they're slightly scared of the giant horde of spiders living beneath their feet, surely we can work with that.

It'd actually be far worse than that, but the Empire hasn't raided any of their settlements or kidnapped their citizens for various reasons for a couple hundred years. As of now, the Empire is regarded as the :turian:scary monster hiding in the closet:turian: for most of the relatively peaceful races in Northrend.

Honestly one thing I think we should focus on is setting up our infrastructure so it stays mostly around those anti-undead pillars torroar talked about.
That way, we have a safe place around which we can set up defenses when shit inevitably hits the fan, and it shouldn't upset our people all that much (people like infrastructure setup, so it could be an easy way to get some popularity going).

...So basically we're like the Skaven and these people are the Empire?

Would baking a cake help?

More seriously, wait til the Horde are here, and offer our assistance. Earn some goodwill that way.

Or just point out that for a couple hundred years or so, we've been quiet, which shows we're not all evil.

To everyone but the Trolls (Who really hate you) and the Vrykul (Who want to fight you)

That's because there hasn't been anything of interest on the surface for a long while for the Nerubians (If they bother to even find out), and also your usual method of learning from other races/individuals is kidnapping, torturing, and experimenting on them for all their worth. Make no mistake, the Nerubians are still rather evil normally.

Hey Arcman, are you doing the standard thing, where a stat in 30+ is considered Mythic?
Or, given this is warcraft and not warhammer, are we doing things differently here?

To everyone but the Trolls (Who really hate you) and the Vrykul (Who want to fight you)
Well killing trolls' really like a public service.
So I'm sure we can work out some sort of deal when we inevitably have to ally with them.

Would it be possible to get an overview of how the races view each other? Which races hate each other (Trolls/Vrykuls vs. everyone, I assume?), which are friendly, or even allies, and which are just looking for an excuse to invade the other?

Also, is the reason that the political situation is given in races rather than nations/settlements that in this game, all races are treated as one nation (at least for Northrend)?

Heh... that'll hold water.

As Arc points out our usual way of doing things is frankly Terrifying, and Nerubians don't inherently value the lives of others. They value the group.

If we're going to make diplomacy with the outside happen we need to literally make a caste for it from the ground UP. This is where genetics comes inhandy for us if we selectively breed out children to be able to establish peaceful contact. Until then we need to secure our government and make sure that we establish the resources needed to convince our people to do things OUR way.

I doubt they'd trust the cake.

And depending on when we start, it's probably going to be awhile before the Horde shows up.

As for simply pointing out that we've been quiet? I think they're going to need a bit more evidence than that. Just because we stopped doing terrible things to them for a certain amount of time isn't going to mean anything to them, they might think we were just thinking up worse things to do to them.

In northrend, for all intents and purposes... everyone hates everyone else for good reason (Sept maybe the Tuskkar and Tunka) And keep to themselves.

There's political faction amoung all of them though. But that's too much united against Outsiders to matter to us.

Honestly though our first wave of diplomats will be mistrusted as ALL HELL. Kindness nor value for life are virtues of our race. But in this we have time, and we can make it an initiative to point out that grabbing one or 2 pathetic specimens from the surface to torture till we know everything they know... is not only not going going to get us the really interesting things that others come up with, but is a waste of time ultimately since one who thinks they will die won't share anything particularly vital in doing so.

We need to argue that to understand the climate above we need to send out those who may walk among potential prey as something to command respect, as something to be adored. Point it out in our experience hunting above the surface you got far more information watching your prey go though its daily motions than you did in impaling it upon your claws and making it struggle to tell you everything it knew in vain hopes of escape.

We must argue simply that our path is more efficient for the empire.

Well hot damn, Anub-Rekhan is better at us in everything but Diplomacy :p

And wow, our starting economy is in excellent shape. First time I've ever seen a treasury of One Million Gold :o:D

Thats what happens when you never buy or sell anything for hundreds of years.

And you know, the whole taking everything we want because we're giant spiders.

100k isn't so bad, it certainly beats both Albion and Wissenland.
But yeah, given the maintenance requirements we've got, we'll be likely to need some way to improve our economy... can't do trade, obviously.

Well, honestly thats one of our main goals. If we can convince the other races that our race of giant spiders who have centuries of past history of killing/stealing, that we only want to be friends and trade these days. Then we will be able to trade for better income.

Or we could just kill/steal some more.

Are we currently at war with the faceless ones and other servants of the Old Gods? Thrall's horde isn't going to be at Northrend for a loong time, we still have to fight off the Lich King, Arthas, and the faceless ones before they even set foot on our continent.

We haven't woken them up yet and odds are the Lich King isn't here yet either since he was only created after the 2nd war.
