every attempt you've made to stop the old gods has just made things worse, now their popping up in the servants and corrupting them.
the naga were doomed to become the old gods bitch from the moment they accepted salvation instead of dying in the depths of the sundered world they created... you have to admit they deserve it at this point.
What are you talking about? On the first turn we made a HUGE amount of progress on getting the whispers to shut the hell up, and we did great this turn too. Hearing the whispers doesn't mean anyone is lost forever.
Now this is rather inaccurate. While your successes have not been without their own consequences, you have been managing to curtail the influence of the Dark Gods upon you. It's just not a easy thing to curtail in the first place.
Though there are certainly merits to embracing the Dread Elders of the Earth...

I'm not opposed to players going to Old God route, and there's a very large chance that it's gotten happen anyway, despite the best efforts of the players, but I'd like to state clearly as GM, that falling to the Old Gods is not inevitable currently. You've been doing well so far, though your minions getting corrupted will make things tricky.
But think of how much more fucked up things will get if the Old Gods make Azshara their bitch. If we ask, Elune might not have any choice but to help us. Though she might get even in the process anyway. No reason she should use her power to unscrew our head.
We don't really know. Proximity seems to play a role, but once a link gets established proximity becomes less of a limiting factor, and it is very difficult, nigh impossible really, to get rid of. There does seem to be a metaphysical aspect(because no one is that good with just words), but basically they whisper into your subconsciousness until you can't tell the whispers from your own thoughts. At that point its Game Over.

It's not guaranteed. Mostly because making contact itself is not guaranteed, what with being in the bosom of the Old God's domain and so very far from the light of moon. Plus no real established worship of Elune, or any shrines, temples or even statues dedicated to her. Additionally, the fact that you aren't Kaldorei, her chosen people, anymore. It's like using signal fires in on a deserted island to try and hail passing ships really.
Ah, its like you guys are trying the utmost to follow canon.
Lets not get help from a goddess that likely has the mind as her domain, one of the best ways known to actually fight Old One influence. Let the most powerful and likely influential of the arcanists get influenced by the Old Ones, that surely cant lead to ruin.
EDIT: And i say the utmost because i reckon she probably went all paranoid and tried to stop all influences of the Old Ones when it started out as well, she seemed like a bright if egocentric lady.
I figure their current strategy is stress. Sure we can keep them out of our head by doing everything we can towards that end, but then sleep deprivation and magical stress builds up and we go crazy anyway. But not Old God Crazy.

Not if Azshara has anything to say about it. It may not be easy. It may not even be advisable(unless you want to blow up Azeroth with them), but the Old Gods can be killed.
The current ruffles your hair as you oversee the operations of your troops. Like them you are invisible, but the slightest rustle of your limbs causes high noticeable eddies, even blowing one warrior into against a jutting boulder, though fortunately he seems only lightly bruised. The bait is placed in the centre of a small gorge, the ambushers concealing themselves among clumps of swaying kelp, crude bone spears and lightning magic at the ready. You yourself are hugging the cliff face, your twin Javelins of Suramar clutched in your lower pair of arms while the upper prepare potent spells that will rip asunder souls and liquefy flesh.
Ambush?!(28+5=33)
You first that you noticed something was wrong is when tentacles erupted from the ground, strangling four of the hidden warriors. Surprised, their companions wasted precious seconds simply staring dumbly at this apparition, failing to process that they were the ones ambushed instead. Hastily you formulate a spell of dispelling freeing the bait in the center of their sleep. By now the four are dead, necks snapped. Putting on a burst of speed, you surge towards the nearest foul appendage, roaring to bring your soldiers to their senses. Belatedly they retaliate, releasing great bolts of lightning at the monstrosity that had slain their brethren.
The Lurker shrieks in pain and slowly the ground breaks away, as something huge emerges from beneath. Hastily your forces swim upwards, while you hack away mercilessly at the rubbery flesh of the beast, eliciting another scream. In a flash three tentacles wrap around, squeezing and piercing all at once.
Poison(32+10=42)
Fire courses through your veins and you belatedly realize that this things tentacles are equipped with poison stingers. Your muscles spasm wildly, but you manage to cut off one of the tentacles, the creature hastily releasing the rest to avoid another such attack. The Lurker retreats away from you giving you a moment to assess your opponent.
This octopiod entity is immense, nearly as large as you in fact. Its eyes shine with a malevolent intelligence, all six of them, and you belatedly realize that the strands of kelp your soldiers were hiding in is in fact its hair. It's movements like quicksilver it snatches up the severed tentacle and reattaches it to the stump, you watch in irritation as it rapidly heals over. It seems this monster possesses significant regenerative capabilities. A tricky opponent.
As it does this reconstruction however, you and your soldiers ready a volley of spellfire. The Lurker shall regret the day it went against the Highborne.
What magics do you cast?
[x] Tear its soul asunder
[x] Acid and lightning
[x] Spells of binding and compulsion, this too shall serve Azshara.
[x] Write-in
