Axes, spears, but also hammers, shields could be made and you have knowledge of them but they aren't used, two handed variants of all of those. Basically name a weapon and I'll give it the yes or no, treatment.

[X] Plan: Preparation Time. Troll Edition
-[X] Sharpen Axes (2 Successes Needed) - The Warriors of the Shatterspear have long seen disuse even by your own impressive recollection. Though inexperience, the training regimen of hundreds of years has seen them still sharp. They need only the proper weapons. (2 Might Dice)
-[X] The Tribe's Troubles (3 Successes Needed) - The Shatterspear Tribe always brings all they collect, whether it is wood, food, supplies, and anything else not on the minimalist levels or not directly requested from a Witch Doctor's own gardens to present to the Chieftain and so they may distribute it. A long held system, but unless you're fully aware of all the ins and outs of where resources are needed, it is a bit of a wasted effort. Find out where best to direct your Tribe's resources. (4 Mind Dice)
-[X] Mend the Divide (2 Successes Needed)- You have successfully identified where exactly this strange divide within the clan is happening, and it's almost down Headhunter and Warrior lines with the rest of the tribe split between them. Yet you could very well end this before it grows out of control.
--[X] Approach Jor'Killl - Approach the leader of the Warriors within the Shatterspear. Jor'kill is clearly all about retaliating against the Elves who even now are getting even deeper into the vale, then who knows what the young troll will do? Perhaps you can mollify him with actions, or direction. (3 Moxie Dice)

Taking after the summer season, you start the winter months with snow, warming beside braziers, and meticulous recollections of how exactly the tribe functions. Some may say that taking a year to get yourself acquainted with the whole of the tribe's inner workings was foolish. But those people weren't currently dealing with the fact the tribe had a possible war, elf infiltrators, Elf scouts, and the Loa only knew what else. OH, and two leaders of the tribe are currently involved in a spat that they would not give up.
You have your right to the fact it took you this long to get around to it.
So it was that once again in the freezing rain that left your fur cold saw you trekking across the village to the various storehouses to inspect the wares. But more than that, you properly nabbed some of the laboring trolls who often have the sole job of moving all these items from one part of the village and back and began grilling them on just how exactly they manage it, where it goes, and how it all happens.
The answers tended to be 'It just be heavy, not hard', 'Whoever be askin' fer it', and 'Just grab however many o' trolls needed'. Also, followed by 'Why ya' askin'? Ain't ya' the one who be ordin' it?'
It wasn't enlightening, but it did give you an idea to follow after.
From there, you went to the various craftsmen throughout the winter. Thus did the picture form to you, like it did as you were hunting down the Elves within the Vale. Everyone, from the Witch Doctors to the Craftsmen, to even the laborers themselves was under some misguided belief the complete lack of orders from you was due to the fact you had some sort of plan!
They misunderstood completely the fact the Wave-Rider order did! They took the 'Hold of Histories and Tales' as some sort of 'I know everything about the tribe'! Fools, idiots, the whole lot of them all!
It did not help the Elders thought similarly!
A few words to a few groups sorted THAT entire misunderstanding right out.
But to finish your investigation, Craftstroll usually only took or ordered the resources they required directly from the stockpiles, so things like maintenance or small items like the tools the tribes used to keep up with farming or continue their work as they did whatever orders a tribesmen needed done. Now, with this understanding in hand and the misunderstanding cleared up, you can well and truly command the tribe to produce what you need to be produced.
[The Ways of Supply and Demand the great many Craftstrolls of the tribe has granted you the ability to give tribe wide orders to your people]
[Unlocked 'Built to Order', 'Order to Build, and 'Fix Me a Dream' Actions as you have gained a greater overview and understanding of the tribe's ability to function]
Wiping your hands off the administration of the tribe for the time being, you then set back towards the Craftstroll that you once went to for the spears you intended to craft for the Headhunters. This time, however, you fully intended to not hit the same problem with the spears, you had learned. Instead of attempting to have the trolls construct a specific spear from one of the many tales you knew of past Shatterspears… The irony of your previous attempts at this… Regardless, you simply had them construct the simplest axe you could think of.
Simple!
It was not.
It seemed that every few minutes, you were re-explaining why the dimensions had to be different from a normal wood-cutting axe, why the need for it to be lighter was important, and on and on it went! There is something to be said of the spears you made previously, those were of differing design and clearly not meant for more than the chieftain who used it, but surely an AXE was not so complicated!
By the time you finished bashing the idea over and over again into the heads of the trolls, it was past the time you were able to even start the project.
At the very least they will be ready once you send down a widespread order… Hopefully…
Your approach to addressing the Jor'kill side of the tribe's division was as direct as the troll himself. You thought about the idea of going to meet him and his warriors for training to discuss it there as he had offered you, before turning it down due to simply not having the time that would take. Krah'ranik, while sufficiently mollified and last you heard moping around the village and watching the Elf for lengthy periods, it was unclear how he would respond to your blatant dealings with Jor'kill. Their relationship was hardly very good.
A simple invitation to the day before the Festival to Bethekk saw you meeting the leader of the tribe's Warriors. But the entire discussion was sufficiently derailed the moment the two of you sat down to speak over some ocelot stew you made. You've had a craving since eating some of that Elf's mount.
"'Ah will not be givin' up mah feud wit' d'at naive mud sniffer Krah'ranik."
You paused for several long seconds, processing how exactly to respond to that. You hadn't even the chance to try and say otherwise! "Why do ya' t'ink we was gonna be speakin' of him?" You start lightly, trying to ease your way to try and move Jor'kill from his position.
The warrior scoffed, crossing his arms, and picking some meat from their bowl. "Please, 'ah be stupid, not a fool." His hand waved in the air to enunciate his point "In the summer, ya' summon him to ya' hut, he be comin' out all angry, fumin' mad. If d'at ain't signs ya' be talkin' 'bout ole' Jor'kill, 'ah ain't got no clue what ya' be speakin' to me 'bout." He shrugged his shoulders easily admitting the fact.
To the Warrior's credit, the troll hardly seemed to hold the fact against you, nor was he at all afraid to admit his faults. But stubbornness was going to be the biggest roadblock. So you thought about it for a few moments before shifting your plan of attack to something you both cared about. "Do ya' realize what d'at feud of ya's be doin' to the tribe? It could rip a wound right into the tribe if we end up fightin' the elves."
Jor'kill looked guilty at your words, but even still spoke with determination that would be admirable if it weren't a bad thing for the tribe in this instance. "'Ah cannot. The tribe needs justice fer the elves takin' all d'ey like from us."
"So ya be thinkin' ya' be the one, who gonna be givin' it to d'em?"
The warrior looked at you in confusion "No? Ain't d'at gonna be ya', chieftain? 'Ah told you before 'ah ain't got the mind for d'at sort o' thing." At the consternation on your face, the warrior grimaced before trying to placate you with his hands alone "Okay look, 'ah get what ya' sayin. 'Ah'll put aside the feud wit' d'at Krah'ranik until we get what we deserve from d'em elves," Your fallen face strangely panicked the troll even more "'Ah'll end it, for good! Promise ya! 'Ah'll end it once an' for all once we show d'ese elves how it be! 'Ah swear it, Shivallah devour me lest 'ah be a liar!"
A presence in the room suddenly appeared, roving eyes upon you both signifying that Shivallah would no doubt take Jor'kill up on that oath sworn.
Sadly, it would be the best you got out of the troll.
[Jor'kill Body Trait Revealed: Empathetic - +1 Success to Moxie Rolls]
[Jor'kill will not give up his feud with Krah'ranik]
[Due to the belief that the Tribe will soon go to war, Jor'kill will not agitate the Headhunter and will even settle it once justice against the elves is taken]
Normally, you enjoy the festival of Bethekk. It starts indoors a few hours before sundown within the Chieftain's hut as the entire tribe gathers to honor the Loa in a community prayer, to see them through the night, and to guide them to find themselves in the morning having protected both themselves and also their people. It was symbolic and the Loa rarely if ever saw to reward these feats with blessings, but it did draw the Loa's attention onto you if you completed the ritual.
Perhaps the reason you found yourself not enjoying this celebration as the Tribe ate its well-deserved reward of harvest and the bounty of the Headhunters, was the Elf that was even now tucked away and guarded. Rotting in its wooden cage. There was also the matter with the feud between Krah'ranik and Jor'kill, who you made sure were seated on opposite sides of the hut, and then the matter with the other elves outside the vale… It was all too great of a headache.
The reason you enjoyed it particularly was when you looked out over the vale from the Chieftain's hut, every torch was lit and it appeared as if your home was surrounded by hundreds of fireflies so late at night. This time was no exception.
So you watched as the tribe disseminated into their homes to take to their private vigils throughout the night, some with larger groups than others that included friends and other family, some all on their own.
You could only assume Master En'don was lying awake in his hammock, giving his own private prayer to Bethekk for you had not seen him the entire night…
You eschewed speaking with the Elders tonight, instead preparing for your own silent vigil. When all of the tribe had filtered out did you finally offer up a prayer to your own patron loa? It was not a prayer for assistance or a prayer for forgiveness, nor was it even a prayer for the sake of prayer. You simply offered yourself up to the loa, before taking your watch.
You felt their presence, the panther Goddess taking the place at your side as you felt the loa encompass you, almost… Comforting. Together, the two of you watched the morning sunrise above the vale.
You were stuck outside for a long while. Not because you were denied entry, no, no reason such as that. No reason as easy as that. No, you stood there because you were hesitant and unsure. You left your master for a full year, knowing full well his mind was getting foggier and he was only getting older. He was almost a full hundred years of age, mind-boggling old for a Troll.
You could make hundreds of justifications for why exactly you left him as you had, duty, honor, the idea of being Chieftain to further your goals… But as you stood outside his door, the weight of your choices brought only uncertainty and those excuses faded away. So you stood there for who only knows how long. Dawdling, not really thinking, but anxiety consuming your mind all the same.
Finally, you sigh, before pounding once, twice, pause for seven heartbeats, before pounding a third time on the wood surrounding the doorway.
There was silence for a long period before an elderly voice commanded you. "Ya' allowed in, Jalo'ki. D'is still be ya' home as much as mine, even if ya' ain't livin' 'ere no more."
The curtain was pulled away as you ducked into the darkened hut. It was a lot emptier than you remember it being, but that was very because of you moving your tablets and scrolls into your new home. What was left made it all feel so… Lifeless. There was still a stack of uncarved tablets in the unused corner, the shelves full of gifts and interesting objects En'don kept simply to have. The several different clothes and leathers he kept to sew you both new clothes whenever the occasion called for it.
Then there was Master En'don, eyes clearly foggy and cloudy yet looking at you with a smile all the same. "'Ah, mah apprentice, come home at last! BAHAHAHA!" The old troll laughed, "Come tell ya' master what ya' been up to."
A wiry smile crossed your lips, even as your master beckoned you excitedly over to the pillow before his hammock. As if nothing had changed, you flowed over the hut to sit on the soft cushion. 'Where would you like me to start then?"
The wizened old troll made a big show of thinking over the question, twiddling the tip of his tusk as his eyes flitted about "How 'bout, after ya' left d'is mornin'? Ya' woke up from d'at nightmare pretty badly, how's ya' day been since?" He asked genially, unseeing as your smile became all the more strained at his words.
So you did as you bid, speaking of your trials as chieftain, the shattered spears, which got a chuckle out of him, the matter between Krah'ranik and Jor'kill, to his disapproval of their actions, before going onto the elves, your fears about the elf groups surrounding the vale, the general state of how you managed to get a grasp on the way the village worked. He nodded his head throughout it all, making small comments or questions.
"My o' my, ya' sure 'ad a busier mornin' d'en 'ah could hope to-" Midspeech En'don's head lulled, falling unconscious off of his hammock before you caught him partly in panic and partly in surprise before carefully guiding him onto his back in the netting.
By the time you laid him back in it, he was blinking his eyes and looking about in confusion. "W'at, w'at did-" His eyes focused on you and you watched as his eyes searched your face clearly trying to recall who exactly you were before they widened, and his hands came up to grab you with all three of his fingers turning your skin white from the pressure. "Jalo'ki."
Your free hand came to cover the back of his hand, doing your best not to spook the old troll "'Ah am 'ere, Master. Ya' gave me quite the scare when ya'-"
"Listen to me, Jalo'ki, 'fore I lose mah memory again." There was no longer fog or clouds within the eyes of the old troll and instead a desperate fire of determination that smacked the mournful smile off of your face as the seriousness of the situation hit you.
"M-master, what are ya'-"
En'don bowled over your words "Under the hut, there be a mound o' mud, dig down d'ere, usin' NO TOOLS!" He kept your gaze with an intensity that sent shivers down your spine and fear into your soul, nearly shouting his words at you "Down down down be a chest made o' one of the ships d'at brought us here. Within ya' find a red mask, let no one know o' it."
You shook your head in confusion "What, but, why-"
"Do NOT put it on until 'ah die, Jalo'ki!" He pulled you in closer, eyes but a few fingers apart then "Tell no one o' what ya' see. Not ya' lover, not ya' children. Not even ya' apprentice till ya' on Bwonsomdi's door. Do ya' understand me?!"
Your wide eyes met his narrowed ones, but you nodded all the same "W-Whos Bwonsomdi?! Master, ya' ain't makin sense-"
"SWEAR IT!" His eyes were deranged now, shaking in their sockets "Swear it upon our Orda'!"
"'Ah swear it! But Master, 'ah ain't even a Master-"
You tried to argue, but the old troll shook your arm, sending you stumbling until his hand could grip your face and drag it closer, staring daggers into your eyes "Ya' a master in all the ways d'at matter. 'Ah taught ya' all 'ah can remember now." He shoved you then, shoved you hard enough you strumbled a spitting distance of the door "GO! DO NOT RETURN!" You looked back to see not the face of your loving, caring, kind old master "DO NOT SEEK ME! TILL 'AH BE DEAD WELL AN' TRUE!" But the face of a deranged monster who twisted his visage into an angered beast.
You fled from the house as if the damned themselves were on your heels.
The Patrols found no sign of the elves this season. Perhaps the freezing rain and snow sent them packing until spring, perhaps the weather itself was the cause for your headhunters to not find anything. It's unclear. But the spring rains are soon to start falling once again, and you'll no doubt get your clues then.
The year turns over yet again as a new moon is born and you have officially been the chieftain for an entire year now. Hopefully, unlike your predecessor, you will not find yourself dead by the end of this one. But beyond that, your choices on how to end the divide within the Tribe are to either go behind the backs of two trolls who seem actually to trust you or to get some 'justice' from the elves, hopefully without starting a war… Joyous..
Beyond those two you still have the matter of the captive still hanging in her cage. She's still seemingly healthy, if very defeated and angry at your people. The Witch Doctors claim she's healthy as far as they can tell and the Priestess (Not Bethekk's thankfully) agrees. How long can you truly keep her captive though?
Finally the elves… How long until they figure out you now hold the Elf captive in its cage? The sooner you manage to find the answer to all of these questions the better.
If nothing else, you can start creating things far more effectively than you could before.
Actions:
You may use any number of Dice from for actions, with a minimum number of 1 (Excluding Initiating War). As Chieftain of the tribe, you are not only responsible for these actions being done, you are also expected to at least oversee it being done. Once Proven, delegation becomes a great deal easier.
Might Actions - Either Military or Labor intensive actions - 3 Dice Remaining
[ ] The Time of Axe and Spear (Free Action) - It is time to set out… You have decided it is time to defend your homeland. The Tribe is angered and supports you, +3 Successes to all military Might action.
[ ] Built to Order (Variable Successes Required) - With your new understanding of exactly the inner machinations of the village distribution system and with it all laid out before you, you realized exactly what you have been missing this entire time. Knowledge of where exactly to send things to have other things built. Sure, you had Headhunters whittling their own spears, and Warriors more often than now training with old dulled wood or stone axes, but with the village laid out before you, you can now see their equipment become a reality. Perhaps, even a weapon fit for a chieftain…
- [ ] Proper Axes (Auto Success) - Twice now, you have failed to supply the defenders of your people with axes and spears. No longer. You have the craftsmen, you have the knowledge of where everything is, where everything goes, and who exactly to what to who. Send down the order, get those warrior's their axes!
(Note: The 1 dice used to activate this isn't to see if it succeeds, but to see what quality of equipment the Warriors will Receive)
- [ ] Tip of the Spear (Auto Success) - The first time you attempted to arm your people saw failure and the Headhunters received a horrible impression of their chieftain. But now, the power is within your hands. Send forth the wood and stones, no longer will your Headhunters whittle their own spears from branches and stones, now you will arm them with what they will need!
(Note: The 1 dice used to activate this isn't to see if it succeeds, but to see what quality of equipment the Headhunters will Receive)
- [ ] Craftsmanship Worthy of the Name (Variable Successes Required) - Alongside knowing what goes into outfitting your Warriors and Headhunters, you now know you could order the creation of something worthy of your position. With war seemingly on the cusp of starting, you could order armor, weapons, or anything you could possibly think up or remember. But what's more, if you find special materials outside the norm, you could even craft an item of greater quality.
- [ ] Write In; What are you making?
[ ] A Lover's Embrace (2 Successes Needed) - During the last season you went about and searched through the village for those rare talents that weren't picked up by the wider tribe. With that searching, you came across Tojiar & Junjie, two lovers who were so skilled at sneaking away to find each other due to unapproving families that Shivallah herself directed you to the pairing. Now it is time to decide how you would like to use them. Krah'ranik leads the Headhunters in general, but you could decide to add more to that roster or do something more niche but no less important.
- [ ] A Chieftain's Guard - Have the two become the first members of your elite bodyguard. You aren't martially inclined with very minimal training, but these two would certainly make good shields in a pinch.
- [ ] Hunterkillers - Turn these two into your own personal killers in the dark, having them focus even further into their ability to sneak around to arrive unnoticed and spear their targets to death.
- [ ] A Champion's A Champion - The end of the day, you can never have enough talented individuals to lead the headhunters, especially since you're about to head directly into a war if things do not change soon. Have them train under Krah'ranik to learn leadership.
- [ ] Write In?
[ ] Increase Activity (2 Successes Needed) - With the fact now the Elves upon their hippogryphs are periodically prodding the borders of the Vale, we need to establish proper patrols that aren't simply headhunters heading out whenever they feel like it. One of the strengths of the tribe is the fact the land they need to cover is not very large, but it is clear that there is a need for a proper system. See it done.
[ ] A Village Given Time (4 Successes Needed) - Almost once a generation, except once three centuries previously due to a particularly egregious case of alcohol poisoning that saw it done twice in a year, the houses and supports of the Village are seen too and repaired as they age, deconstructing before raising them back up. If you are to head to war, you will need to pre-emptively do this as much of your Labor will be fighting.
[ ] Reinforce the Village (6 Successes Needed) - With there clearly being something inside the jungle and mountains alongside the trolls, it is unclear if it is dangerous or not. Not to mention the fact this entire situation could spiral into conflict depending on the action of the Elves or the reaction of the village once it becomes common knowledge there is something stalking the hill. The headhunters have sworn upon the Loa to secrecy, the matter still remains it will get out eventually irregardless.
Mind Actions - Used to find a solution to a problem - 6 Dice Remaining
[ ] Drama's An Old Friend (Free) - You are a well known face with the Elders of the tribe, and are more than welcome to participate in the Gossip Mongering that they love oh so much.
(Note: The 1 dice used to activate this isn't to see if it succeeds, but to see what has happened inside the tribe)
[ ] Fix Me A Dream (Variable Successes Required) - Nominally, the Witch Doctors and their apprentices fall outside of your knowledge of the Tribe's internals, but you know enough about their stores by now and vaguely aware of what they can and cannot produce. It would be as simple as to request from them a specific potion or some sort of elixir to see if they could produce such. Plus if you do manage to gather some exotic ingredients, surely that will allow the Witch Doctors to brew greater creations.
- [ ] Write In
[ ] A Witch Doctor's Airways (2 Successes Needed) - During the last season you went about and searched through the village for those rare talents that weren't picked up by the wider tribe. With that searching, you came across Shani who despite being a bit strange even by Witch Doctor standards, still holds a unique ability. Meet with the boy, pick his brain, and see if you cannot think of a good role for him within the tribe.
[ ] Untangling of Tongues (4 Successes Needed) - The truth of the matter is you have no real ability to speak with the new elf captive you have sitting within the village under guard. As far as you are aware, there is no true method to speak with the Elf besides either learning their tongue or doing a very complicated dance of gesture and body language until you find some mutual ground. Teaching them Zandali would be heretical at best, so Elf tongue it will be.
[ ] The Other Side of the Mountain (4 Successes Needed) - Intrigue - With the Elves getting ever closer to the heart of Shatterspear lands, the question remains that the Tribe has no knowledge of what is happening within the Elf lands. Answers must be found, no matter the stance taken. Take some Headhunters and find exactly what is happening.
Moxie Action - Things that require diplomacy or dealing with other - 4 Dice Remaining
[ ] Release the Prisoner (No Dice Required) - Whether for your conscience, your choice, or simply from pressure, you have decided to let the Elf go, released from the vale and into Elven lands. Whatever could have been gained will not now, and whatever you have lost, you might not regain. But perhaps this might assure you the peaceful isolation your tribe had before.
[ ] A Change of Ways (1 Success Needed) - With your ascension into the position of Chieftain you now stand atop a trip who is directionless. Direct them. Tell them what they must do for preparation for the future. Yet the Trolls of your tribe will eventually grow weary if you spend too long, or disaster can occur, in a differing footing from their traditional ways if spent without good cause.
- [ ] War Footing - Tell the Tribe to prepare for war. Families will begin stockpiling supplies, Artisans will begin preparing for orders of weapons, and Witch Doctors will begin preparations for more elixirs and potions. - Adds +3 Successes to Non-Military Might actions
- [ ] Stockpile Footing - Tell the Tribe to stock up on all they can. The tribe collectively will begin hoarding supplies and resources either given, gathered, or made by their own hands. Often these times require rationing, so the tribe will be prepared for the worst of it. - Adds +3 Successes to Preparation actions
- [X] Production Footing - Tell the Tribe to collect and produce raw material ready to be used for a large project of some kind. Whether it is stone, wood, or some other material needed, the tribe will rally and assist in the collection of that material to assist the village. - Adds +3 Successes to Collection Actions
- []Peacetime Footing - The Tribe continues as it ever has. - No Added Successes
[ ] Go and Meet the Family (1 Success Needed) - The Shatterspear is a tight knit group of trolls. Everyone knows everyone, even if it's only by reputation or through a friend of a friend. In truth, if you go back far enough, everyone is related to everyone. You've now met the Children and Elders of the tribe.
[ ] A Divide Addressed - Intrigue Action - With both Krah'ranik and Jor'kill both refusing to back down from their feud that is splitting the tribe, its time to attack the matter from a different perspective. Assuming of course you do not wish to simply try and find someway to get 'justice' from the elves the next matter is to find the alternative. Currently Krah'ranik and Jor'kill both hold a little below half of the Tribe under their shared sway, while you hold the rest of the Village under your power. If you cannot get the leaders to end their feud, what about speaking to the Warriors or Headhunters directly? It will upset the two leaders to know you are going behind their backs like this, but that might be the only way forward.
(Note: Will not trigger Bethekk's Blessing due to not leading others during these actions)
- [ ] Speak with the Warriors (2 Successes Needed) - The warriors of the Village no doubt follow their leader, Jor'kill, in his mentality of justice against the elves, but is that fully shared? You are not well versed in the Warriors since you have yet to meet them in any capacity yet. Perhaps there are those amidst the Warriors who simply follow Jor'kill due to bonds forged through martial skill and training. Find them, and see if you cannot strip Jor'kill away from some of his followers.
- [ ] Speak with the Headhunters (2 Successes Needed) - Though they no doubt remember your disastrous attempt to outfit them with spears that broke the moment they tried to use them, there can be no doubt that they have seen you lead and your own actions to diffuse the situation within the tribe. Perhaps you can attempt to sway some from there stances, or to find those who never truly shared them with their leader.
[ ] Envoy For Answers (3 Successes Needed) - The answer is quite clear, if the Elves are encroached upon your people's lands answers must be sought out. Approach the elves directly, hopefully with some signs of peace. Establish communication to the nearest elves within the forests west of the Vale.
[ ] Matters of the Faith (3 Successes Needed) - Your people have only two loa to which they pray. Each is honored equally and some given proper respect amidst the Tribe. Nevertheless, speaking on the matters of the Loa will give some insights into the people, why they prey on each loa in particular. Every troll has their own reasons to praying towards these great protectors of your people.
Prayer Actions - Related directly to the Loa of your people. As Chieftain, they might just respond.
[ ] Pray to Bethekk - Ask the Panther Goddess for her guidance for an action (1 Turn Cooldown)
Unavailable until called upon on a Might Action against an Elven Faction
[ ] Pray to Shirvallah - Ask for the Tiger Goddess for her Guidance for an Action (1 Turn Cooldown)
[ ] A Bargain Struck - With the revelation that a Loa oversaw the deal with the Elves, it is time to go and speak with the Loa about said deal. While the histories speak in vague words, the Loa might yet be able to recall the meeting in better detail. Ask them, and see what they say.
(Disclaimer: Unable to be used in the same turn you use a Prayer Action, and cannot Use a prayer on this)
[ ] Speak with Shirvallah (2 dice of your choice)
[ ] Speak with Bethekk (2 dice of your Choice
[ ] Speak with Both at the same time (4 Dice of your Choice)
Personal Action - You are not always managing your people. Sometimes you simply have matters of your own you wish to partake, or simply relax.
[X] Attend the Festival of Shirvallah - A year ago you were elected chieftain of the Shatterspear tribe, as the previous chieftain had died of his old age midway through the Festival of Shirvallah. Unlike the Festival of Arrival or the Festival of Bethekk, this is a very active festival involving lots of dancing, music, and making the life of the vale explode with color and vibrancy, all the while pleading to Shivallah for good health and even better fertility.

Sub Vote:
Since you will experience the final Festival of the Shatterspear this turn before it all repeats once more, would you all prefer to keep the options to participate in the Festivals while turning them into places where Trolls can approach you to socialize, or would you rather they be skipped over?
[ ] Yes, Keep the Festivals
[ ] No, Discard the Festivals
AN: So, due to people having talked to me in Discord about the pace of the quest, but also because it's clear the time constraints I put myself under aren't allowing enough time for Subvotes, questions or discussion or even just for some people to vote in the first place, I'm going to be extending turns so I can address these issues.
This next turn will mark the transition from daily turns to every-other day turns, giving an entire day for people to get their votes in… It really does not feel like I've done nearly a post a day, including character creation within the span of a week… Well, time flies as they say.
I hope all of y'all enjoying the quest continue enjoyin' it with me goin' forward and for everyone I was causing undo missed experiences, I do apologize.
[X] Plan: Screw Elves! All My Tribe (& Loa) Hate Elves
Might
-[X] Increase Activity (2 Successes Needed) - With the fact now the Elves upon their hippogryphs are periodically prodding the borders of the Vale, we need to establish proper patrols that aren't simply headhunters heading out whenever they feel like it. One of the strengths of the tribe is the fact the land they need to cover is not very large, but it is clear that there is a need for a proper system. See it done. (3 Might Dice) Mind
-[X] Untangling of Tongues (4 Successes Needed) - The truth of the matter is you have no real ability to speak with the new elf captive you have sitting within the village under guard. As far as you are aware, there is no true method to speak with the Elf besides either learning their tongue or doing a very complicated dance of gesture and body language until you find some mutual ground. Teaching them Zandali would be heretical at best, so Elf tongue it will be. (6 Mind Dice) Moxie
-[X] Envoy For Answers (3 Successes Needed) - The answer is quite clear, if the Elves are encroached upon your people's lands answers must be sought out. Approach the elves directly, hopefully with some signs of peace. Establish communication to the nearest elves within the forests west of the Vale. ( 4 Moxie Dice) Personal Action
-[X] Attend the Festival of Shirvallah - A year ago you were elected chieftain of the Shatterspear tribe, as the previous chieftain had died of his old age midway through the Festival of Shirvallah. Unlike the Festival of Arrival or the Festival of Bethekk, this is a very active festival involving lots of dancing, music, and making the life of the vale explode with color and vibrancy, all the while pleading to Shivallah for good health and even better fertility.

I dislike the current plan as it doesn't actually prepare the tribe for violence, so the name is terribly misleading. The tribe will ask questions if weapons aren't prepared.
Just a heads up 12 hours left to get your votes in.
As a heads up # 2 I Rewrote some sections of the Turn 1 post, due to not feeling the Opening where Jalo'ki was elected chieftain was up to the standard of the rest of the quest. Literally nothing changed, only the fact I spruced it up a bit.

Built to Order - Sharpen Axes - Rolls; 3 - Tip of the Spear - Rolls; 5
When you sent down the order with all authority of the chieftain you were, the tribe moved as one. That was a bit of poetry on your end since the actual obvious effects were hardly that, obvious. But you spotted it whereas before you no doubt would have missed it, it was the way the tribe moved as you went about your daily duties. You watched as the chain of events led to their conclusion. Laborers and Warriors grabbed bundles of wood and stones from storage, hauling them across the village to the craftstrolls, and from there came the whittling of wood and the clacking of stones being shaped into axe blades and spear tips.
To make sure they were up to a standard you approved, a messenger brought you each an axe and a spear. Looking them over, it was very clear the craftstrolls were still trying to absorb your lessons on the creation of axes for. It was of moderate quality, very clearly not as polished due to lack of experience in its creation, but it would no doubt service a warrior greatly during a conflict. Meanwhile, the Shatterspears did take after the second half of their tribe name, for the Headhunters were going to receive spears worthy of war, a long stone spear tip that went around the wooden shaft. It was far greater than your miserable attempts in the last year to craft both of these group's weapons.

Craftsmenship Worthy of the Name - Armor for Jor'kill, Champion of Warriors - 1 Success Needed - Rolls; 1 - 1 Critical Failure - +1 Success from Strong - 1 Failure Total
When you ordered the tribe to begin crafting weapons, you knew you would require the leader of your Warriors, Jor'kill, would need armor not only to single him out as the leader but also due to the fact he would no doubt be leading from the front. His open admittance that he cannot think of the more subtle things confirmed any suspicions you might have had on that front. So you sent down the order for a suit of wooden armor to gird the champion of your Warriors.
However, a problem arose nearly instantly.
The Elder Craftstroll who was ordered to construct the armor isolated themselves for several weeks, rarely leaving except for food and drink before returning. It was only towards the end of the season when you sent word asking for progress did your messenger returned with one of the newly crafted spears through the shoulder.
"D'at mon be crazy, Chief. Told me ''Ah be done when 'AH BE DONE!', d'en tossed d'is spear at me… Can I keep it?"
It would seem the Craftstroll isolated himself to deal with the armor personally… Well, at least you have another troll willing to go train with the headhunters.

"I worship da' loa." The troll, Ughun was his name, spoke as if the very question was a completely stupid one, pausing their work weaving a basket on the steps of their home during this entire discussion.
"What ya' mean by that?" You asked far more patiently than you felt. This was the third troll in the last hour that you had asked the same question and had received the same answer. You were close to strangling Ughun to release all of the emotions you were feeling.
Ughun met your gaze again, squinting at you, clearly trying to see if you were right in the head. At the very least he didn't try to find a Witch Doctor, unlike the last troll you spoke to. "Well… Ya' know…" He waved his arms wildly at the village 'Da' Loa!"
"...You mean Shivallaha?" You were so close to losing your cool. The fact the current preparations for the festival of Shirvallah were still underway was perhaps the only reason you hadn't given the troll a mouth full of wood.
"Obviously." Ughun scoffed, shaking his head. You hardly noticed it due to the relief you felt at that moment you were GETTING somewhere. "But also da' others."
…Others?
No, no, nope. You were NOT going to strangle the troll, Jalo'ki. You are going to be the better person here.
Turning away, ignoring the confused goodbye and well wishes from Ughun, you made it across the village before your face met your hands as you groaned. "Why oh why is d'is so hard?! Just how many of the loa are there?!"
Shani, that witch doctor boy, happened to overhear you say such a thing and thought about it for a moment before snapping his fingers. "Oh, are ya' talkin' 'bout the tree?"
When asked later, Shoni needed that tooth removed and Jory Zaga was very understanding of your reasoning and accepted your apologies about the fact her apprentice was unconscious for the rest of the day.
[Unable to uncover peoples reasons for worshiping the various loa. Mainly due to confusion over the question. You might try again, later]
For all the difficulties of being a chieftain and the looming future that seems to always edge far closer than you think it will, you took great comfort in moments like this. You watched as merriment and cheer took place, drums beat a furious pace as dancers joyously followed, lovers walked arm in arm while children ran between legs with good-natured shouts following everywhere they went underfoot. Whether it was food or drink, intoxicating fruits, or fish marinated to the point of being more oil than meat, there was never anyone's need not met this day.
There were no unhappy faces, no fears, no worries, and no arguments. The men locked arms as they downed fruit that would send them on their asses from their potency. The women cheered each other on and forced various ones to go and speak with their crushes, congratulating those who walked by with their lovers with raised glasses or food.
You frowned, recalling that the tribe has been wholly focused on gathering supplies for nearly three seasons now. You'd need to recall that order soon or fear overcollection, or worse, the tribe getting antsy… But the Elves still have not been addressed, a full year of them watching the vale, the moment you decide to change it-
You punched yourself right between the tusks. Now was not the time for worry. Worry was for you tomorrow.
You raised your hand, inspecting the fruit that if it were not allowed to be overly ripe would be as juicy as any other. But now, it hides how intoxicating it would truly be. In three bites it was gone, already you were hoisting up a second as you relaxed on the seat of honor prepared for you as the overseer of the tribe's festivities. They kept bringing you intoxicating fruit and food and drink aplenty, but you were waiting for the whole of the festival to get truly going around midday when Shirvallah was said to be the most present amidst her festival.
That's also when the loudest will be the most drunk.
Hopefully.
It was as you were starting on your third fruit that the person you, well, the second person you'd least expect appeared beside you, munching on his basket of fruits. Krah'ranik, despite the success of the Headhunters and their recent armaments, was as reserved as he was during the capture of the elf who even now is kept prisoner within the village. He has done very little while within the village since the aftermath of the Elf's capture, but from what you've heard, he has consistently offered himself to guard the captive.
Considering four warriors and eight Headhunters guard her at any one time, you welcomed the troll's assistance.
For a time, you both were getting your pre-gaming on, downing fermented fruits one after the other as the tribe partied around you. Feasting and intoxicants flowing freely enough you spotted several children run off with several armfulls. You considered intervening there, but they would be fine. Children injure themselves daily anyhow, what's a bit of poison in their system? Hardly anything. You remember eating around three dozen of these intoxicating fruits when you were barely taller than your knee.
The hangover will be their lesson in why you shouldn't eat them so young.
"'Ah'm sorry." You didn't realize what you had heard then for several moments. Chewing through a particular plump plum when you realize it was Krah'ranik who spoke. "For how 'ah've treated ya'."
It was getting harder to think as the buzz of a good fruit filled you, but even still you thought through all your encounters with the old headhunter trying to figure out what in particular he was speaking of. Whether because of your current actions or due to simply not remembering in this instance, you raised a brow at the old troll. "What are ya' speakin' of? 'Ah can't think of what ya' could be apologizin' to me 'bout."
Krah'ranik shook his head, "It ain't 'bout what 'ah be speakin' 'bout, but mah actions towards ya'." Krah'ranik held up one of the fruits from his basket like he could divine secrets from its opaque skin. "Ya' be the chief, but 'ah be forgettin' just how young ya' be… An' how old 'ah be gettin'... Ya' barely older than mah grandchild an' 'ah ain't exactly been da' best 'bout how 'ah be treatin' ya'." He twirled the fruit between his fingers "'Ah should be offerin' ya' mah advise an' assistin', not… what 'ah've been doin'."
It was with an idling mind you pondered bringing up the feud before just as swiftly dismissing the thought entirely. Ruining the good mood of the festival was the last thing on your mind, not to mention it would be a surefire way to ruin the mood Krah'ranik found himself in. Then again, you are quite intoxicated yourself at this point.
Standing from your throne, you slap the old troll on the shoulder, sending the troll sprawling with a squawk of surprise. "Listen, Krah. The worries o' tomorrow, be the worries o' tomorrow. Today, we live life!" Your smile took the old troll off guard almost as a smack to the shoulder. Before you could even get a reaction, you proudly and happily went off to enjoy the festival for the first time in… Years… You think.
Untangling of Tongues - 4 Successes Needed - 6, 3, 1, 5, 3, 3 - 1 Critical Success, 1 Critical Failure, 1 Success, 3 Failures - +1 Success from Cunning, +2 Success from Torture (Isolation) - 1 Success Total
After a few days of recovering from the splitting headache that made you curse whatever in all of the history of the Shatterspear told you to get so black-out drunk off of the fruit.
Once that wore off, sadly there being no potion the Witch Doctors could make or at the very least were unwilling to share with you, you set about the biggest task that would no doubt be the hardest that you set about to do this season. Somehow managing to learn the language of the Elves and after inspecting the scroll the thing held, you knew you were either going to enjoy this or incredibly hate it. The scroll bound in leather with the parchment inside arranged into a strange angle gave you such a headache that it hurt. Thankfully the Witch Doctors gave you something for that. The two drawings it had with it were beyond your ability to understand, just that it had something to do with the mountains and jungles of the vale.
You watched as several trolls hauled the log back to the log that dangled the elf over a cliff several hundred feet high. To be quite honest, the ledge was probably quite a large bit of overkill, but it certainly kept her escape attempts minimal… You don't think it has tried… Well, that just proved it works.
The Elf looked sad, not even just in its mood, but in that its clothing was torn and worn if clean. Its face was downcast and rarely looked up from the ground, even as it was dragged from its cage. Only as it was hauled before your feet did it look up with some fire and defiance in its eyes… God elves were ugly things. "Pick it up, make sure ya' keep a good eye on it. 'Ah don't want to be doin' this out here."
The elf was hauled between two warriors as they escorted the elf into your abode.
What followed, after you were both situated on cushions, was one of the most insulting sessions of what could even vaguely be called a 'lesson' you had ever been a part of. You didn't understand it, the it couldn't understand you, it was a complete farce.
The only good thing to come out of it was towards the end of the entire thing you managed to exchange names. Now it knew you as Jalo'ki, and you knew it as Nyrilin.
God, even the words it spoke were ugly.
[The attempts to learn the tongue of the elves was largely unsuccessful, yet promising. You have the grasp of some syllables and managed to exchange names at the very least]
They were arguing over something. Their tongue was as alien to them as no doubt theirs was to the elves. Even so, the entire patrol slowly but surely crept forward, the elves so consumed in their argument the ones meant to watch for the trolls were involved. They were deeper in this time, no longer satisfied with just the edge of the vale it would seem, now they were well and truly inside and in the territory of the Trolls. Mountains and the jungles held within were their land. TROLL land.
The entire patrol was angry, but they knew that their chieftain would want these elves as well… Just as they did. No one among them wished for a war.
So they crept forward, close enough that they would have to try and miss with their spears, even while the elves were in each other's faces now arguing loudly and intensely… They never saw it coming.
The trolls sprung from the shrubbery and the trees, yelling warcries that startled the elves and their hippogryph mounts who did not even know what hit them. Spears were thrown, impacting the mounts and sending them into their death throes or flat out slew them outright. Then the Trolls descended on the elves thrown from their mounts. Wooden shafts impacted the heads, arms, and legs, anywhere the Trolls managed to reach was bruised by the blunt shafts of their spears.
There was one, however, that managed to break away from the combat. Overlooked by being crushed by its hippogryph, the sly elf attempted to run back the way the party came. Two trolls split off from the beatings, throwing branches and stones at the running elf, but he avoided it.
Though the headhunters were more in their element, this particular elf was going off pure adrenaline and desperation found in cornered animals. By the time the trolls attempted to resort to their spears, it was too late and the Elf had crested the ledge out of the vale-
A torrent of flames descended from the skies, the trolls skid to a stop holding up their arms to block the intense heat and ferocity of the flames. All the while the elf screamed, long and bloody as he was reduced to nothing but char marks and bones.
Descending from the peak of this particular mountain, a hoof beat marked its stride as the… There was no true way to speak of it other than one of the larger elves, with its lower half that of a goat, sporting similar horns, and with claws and furry hands that looked akin to the daggers the headhunters sported. It was grinning maniacally as its hooves smashed apart some of the remaining bones, sending the cracking of bones echoing.
Then it looked up towards the trolls, no longer smiling.
The headhunters raised their spears, partially in fear, partially in defiance, but it was unneeded.
The creature waved its hand for a few moments as motes of pale blue light fell away to the stones. Then it spoke. "Take me to your, 'Chieftain'." The creature sneered cruelly, "The Kaldorei will soon assault your vale and your people."
[The Shatterspear patrol ambushes and captures five elves who are more than likely the same five who have been scouting at the edges of your vale for the last year]
[Before the sixth managed to escape your trolls, a strange creature appeared, incinerating the elf, before demanding to speak with You]
AN: I don't know who all knows this, but did you know her name is actually Shirvallah? Unironically I wholly believed it was written Shivallah. This is turn, 5 now? Good lord, imagine if this was a Gurubashi quest! She might of been mentioned even more for me to fuck up!
For once, Krah'Ranik and Jor'kill did not argue or fight while together. On any other day, you would have thought this a great boon as you could have a fruitful discussion, but as the Headhunter is once again grilled on the story she just told all three of you. Elves entering the vale beyond a sole one attempt to flee onto to be reduced to ash by a creature that even now irritatedly awaits on the border demanding to speak with you about an Elf invasion…
How did it come to this… No, you knew. You just didn't like to ponder it.
Krah'ranik and Jor'kill looked towards you as you cleared your throat. "Do we allow d'is… creature… Into the vale? We don't be knowin' o' what the elves be doin' outside the vale. Advise me."
The two trolls look towards each other, with clear disdain for each other, but it seems their mutual relations with you, or more likely, their duty to the tribe, saw them put it aside for the moment. "Much 'ah don't be likin' it…" Krah'ranik started hesitantly "Do we be havin' much choice o' the matter?"
"We do." Jor'kill countered, but shaking his head all the while "Just none o' d'em good." Then he turned back to you "If ya' order it, 'ah can take the Warriors to hold the passes. It ain't gonna do much good if we don't be knowin' what we be facin' or how many. But we'd be willin, if ya' be havin' us do it."
"The Headhunters stand ready." Krah'ranik nods "The moment ya' order it, we be out o' the vale and stalkin' right through elf lands."
You thought hard at that moment, thinking of the benefits and downsides of each side before you sighed. Rubbing your face, you nod to the two trolls you know you can at the very least rely on to do their duty. "'Ah give ya' the word the moment 'ah think o' 'ah wanna be meetin' wit' d'is creature."
If nothing else, this was a very effective distraction from the morning's news about the death of your master.
Beyond that for some better news, the Tribe doesn't demand violence, instead, they look towards you to see how you wish to handle this situation and the new elf captives.
[You need to decide how you will handle this new information and this new party in your problems against the elves. Will You invite them in? Will you go and meet them at the pass? Will you simply disregard them?]
[Any option besides Reject Them starts an Interlude. Reject Them takes us to Turn 6 immediately]
[ ] Invite Them In: They have asked to meet you and now hold information that might save your people if it is indeed true.
[ ] Go and Meet Them: Though they demand to be taken to you, you cannot simply allow non-troll to walk into the Vale. Go and meet them there.
- [ ] Do you Take guards or someone else with you? Who? Write In.
[ ] Reject them: They clearly are not to be trusted with their strange mojo and their even stranger visage.
These are far from the only ones like this, but I'm kinda curious why you're subtracting non crit failures from the success total listed when the mechanics say only crit fails are a -1? I think you're treating it as a 1 success anyways, since change of ways worked, but it's certainly a confusing way to present it.
