[X]''I could make it rust-proof rather easily, if you want. But my instincts tells me that's not why you are here. So to what do I owe this visit?''
[X]''I'm assuming that you're the reason why Avalon hasn't dropped on my head yet
"You would be right actually." Mr E, unclasps his hands and waves at you. "Go ahead take a seat. Rest your shaky legs. I congratulate you on not fainting in terror. It's always embarrassing when that happens."
You take the seat, glancing at Anti who's taken a guarding stance. From what you can tell he's ready to intervene as necessary, but you hope he realizes the issue here.
"I could imagine." You state, trying to keep things from going silent.
"It's not so bad when it's civilians. They are just bit players." The Villain looks at Captain Red's still form. "When it's villains capable of shattering cities, it gets a bit much."
You honestly don't blame them. Mr E's reputation is not exaggerated. The list of things he's done has filled books. Not all of it murder, but more than one city has been turned upside-down. There are also reports of him quite literally turning Heroes villains and Villains heroes on the same night. Your best hope is to come out of this intact.
"Not much to say?" Mr E taps at the prison with a gloved hand. "Don't blame you. Not many people do. But I'm digressing. Avalon isn't attacking because of two reasons. One is Eternal wanted to give Red here a chance." He waves to the Hero. "The other is they just got word of my disappearance. It's standard procedure to do a lock-down when I escape. Or rather when they detect my escape. I've been out for a month. Ever since I almost brought down the station they've been really careful."
Yeah, you can see that. "So they are going to be certain you haven't gotten up there."
"Eternal probably knows what's going on, but he knows how the game works right. Better than I do actually." Mr E shrugs and turns back to you. "So he knows I'm here on business."
"Business?" You swallow slightly and get ready to signal for help.
"Yes. So I'm not going to make your pretty little reactor go boom." Mr E sighs sadly at the missed opportunity. "It would be beautiful, but business before pleasure and all that. You see, by the rules of the game you've basically demonstrated you are competent." He gestures back towards Captain Red. "Your rival over here is less so, but he's more a team player, so he gets a bit of a pass for now."
"And that means?" You have no idea what he's getting on about, but best to play along.
"That gets to the reason I'm here." Mr E pulls out his knife and twirls it a bit. "You see, I help make certain people play by the rules. Heroes in one place, Villains in the other. If you aren't being a proper villain... Well I don't use this knife." He puts it away still smiling. "Thank you for the offer of making it rust proof. I'll have to decline though. It's my sabature knife, made specifically to short out electronics and such."
"So you are here to check to see if I'm a proper villain." You state uneasily.
"Nah, I've been watching you for awhile." The Villain smiles, and you find yourself very chilled. "I would say you are somewhat. More towards the Chaos side than the Evil side, but I can work with that. No sense in being consistent. Having the same types of players get's boring fast."
You frown behind your mask. "Then why are you here?"
"Ah, getting to the heart of the matter!" Mr E smiles and takes a step back. "You see, I've seen your power. But to properly progress in the game you need more than tricks and traps. You need more than armies." He gestures towards Anti. "Lady Ka'lin had a nation under her command. That sexy fox of yours was one of her prime enchantresses. I'm a big fan of her work by the way. If you want to be in the big leagues you need know two things."
You wait, he appears to be building up to something.
"The first is simple." The Villain spreads his arms wide. "Show me who you are. Show me what defines you. You are Revan yes? Show me what makes your name something that people will tremble at. The second is harder." Here Mr E lets down his arms and steps up closer to you. "It's simple on the face of it. But most people don't realize exactly what it entails. It's a question. What do you want"
He pauses for a moment and continues. "What do you desire? How are you going to achieve it? What will you do when you have it? All wrapped up in the simple point of need." Too close now, and now you feel a unnatural terror. "I want to see these things. Because if you want to be in the big leagues you have to prove it to me."
Mr E steps back once, and folds his hands in front of himself. Like that the terror is gone, but the chill lingers. "You have twenty four hours. Fail, and your base goes up in flames and Avalon finds your unconscious body at their doorstep. Succeed? And perhaps I might show you something grand. A proper villain never dies after all."
