Untitled Superhero Quest (No SV Be the Hero)

@Cyberphilosipher

Nanami Mizushima could easily be repurposed into a villain if you're still accepting applications for those. Her motivations could be switched to "I was born and raised for nothing but war and now they're not going to have it. Well, I'll have to start one myself then" or perhaps "I don't fit on the land and I don't fit on the sea- I'll make my own place by conquering somewhere and remaking it in my image". Or a combination of the two, or neither, etc.

If you want other villain submissions, let me know. Character creation is a blast.

actually she would make a perfect nemesis for Aiden. both are sorta royalty, both would be just getting started with the main difference being purely about who they're backing/ is backing them

Creation Part 3: Stat Allotment and Hero Brand
Creation Part 3: Stat Allotment and Hero Brand

The Stats and Skills of the World are split into increments and skills needed to be a hero.

They have evolved quite a bit from the early era but they can be put into simple terms.

Public Relations (AKA Diplomacy):Your crowd control abilities, public relations, ability to weather a crisis and keep people calm.

Tactical Skills (AKA Martial): You need to lead people that can use deadly weapons, powers and abilities and the ability to direct them to the point and not cause massive damages to the city.

Finance Skills (AKA Stewardship):Hero insurance is a difficult business, getting some requires a hold of money capital to use to repair damages and pay for lawyer fees.

Investigative Skills (AKA Intrigue):Can you get a massive conspiracy up and running, dismantle and control the nation with impunity, and investigate case after case with impunity, dump in this.

Knowledge Skills (AKA Learning):You a smart boy needing tech, magic or just plain school work.

Combat Skills (AKA Personal Combat):Your ability to kick ass.

Your Starting Traits:

The First of the New: No baggage, no scars...just simple ideas to strive for. (One stat set at 20, +1 rest, no greater destriments or boons.)

Plan: Once and Future King

Public Relations: 16
Tactical Skill: 20
Finance Skill: 6
Investigative Skill: 8
Knowledge Skill : 17
Combat Skill: 18

Hero Name- Caliburn

My reasoning is as follows- something is going to have to be a dump stat, and finance might as well be it. We can hire someone to do it, possibly once we're more established if we have to. Investigative skill isn't as 100% necessary for someone when they just start out, and our hero isn't the Batman type- I could be reading him wrong but he seems to be more of a Flash or Captain Marvel (DC). And it's something we can train or get a partner for.

Tactics and Combat go hand in hand, but I thought the chance of limiting collateral damage gave the edge to Tactics over combat. Public Relations are important for someone who is going to be in the hero industry- if we can get people to trust us and give us info of our own volition it reduces the need for intensive investigation anyway. And for Knowledge, very few heroes get to the top by being unread fools.

In the Arthurian Mythos, Caliburn is the Sword in the Stone that chooses the King in the legend of King Arthur. It is the sword that he got before Excalibur. I also thought it sounded really cool to say.

[X] Plan: Once and Future King
we should also remember that one of his powers is his super charisma will (if we get it) hopefully boost his diplo even higher (though I like the idea of it just lowing the DC for less chance of an over 100 crit) and possibly have an effect on things like support rolls to make our allies/ underlings/ knights/ whatever you wanna call them better. once we actually get them. a majordomo who actually knows how to handle finances would probably be a great investment though. and a spymaster too if we get a chance. gotta be a few ninjas's still running around right?

the alternate name could just be: king

but yeah Caliburn sounds good. some one's gonna call us calli though lol probably whatever rival/nemesis we get

and I was picturing him as a captain America type deal where he's not "the strongest" (in Arthurian mythos that was Lancelot) but he's capable of holding his own and a talented leader. so tactics and Diplo makes the most sense plus having 6 younger sisters he's learned a thing or two about making people listen lol they sense any weakness little girls will rip your heart out.

idealy he should be Lex Luthor mixed with steve rogers if you can picture that lol

[X] Plan: Fate

[X] Hero Name: Homelander

[X] Public Relations: 16
Tactical Skill: 17
Finance Skill: 8
Investigative Skill: 18
Knowledge Skill : 16
Combat Skill: 20

[X] Plan: Gargoyle

-[X] Hero Name: Tuatha

-[X] Stat Layout

--[X] Tactical Skill: 6
--[X] Finance Skill: 18
--[X] Investigative Skill: 20

A different layout from the skilled warrior. Going with a poor fighter, but excellent administrator.

just a thought on how the stats would change Aiden's personality

once and future king version
Aiden is a kid who knows how to fight. granted some of the personal combat skills were gifted from the sword but he's got a good head on his shoulders and talent for leadership honestly he'd have probably been a big deal even without Excalibur with a tactical mind like his. his main problem is that he rushes in without really considering the full consequences of his actions. he also has no concept of money or economics. so a teenager basically just one who's intelligent charismatic and strong... we sure he didn't have powers before this?

gargoyle
Aiden is a young man who's always done his best to look out for his family. nights spent babysitting his little sisters and discussing police work with his dad taught him investigation. it was mostly his sisters though if he's being honest (you have no idea how hard his sisters will work to cover each other when something goes wrong) and helping his parents keep them all fed on a shoestring budget thought him some real wizardry with numbers. his serious and carrying attitude makes him something of a heartthrob. he's studious and tries to keep in the front of the class when it comes to academics. but he's never even had a fistfight before he took up the sword and it shows. it's with no small trepidation that he steps forward to fight the encroaching disaster. but thoughts of home give him courage

once and future king would probably be a character arc about learning to be responsible. taking the time to consider different sides to arguments or some patience to gain more knowledge

gargoyle would probably be about Aiden learning to stand up for what's right and face challenges head-on.

the alternative lesson for both would be "power of friendship" get people to cover your weaknesses but in both, I could see pride getting in the way of letting others help

these are just my thoughts on how the stats could work out though

and fate you've got an extra 16 there buddy. might wanna fix that

also we got really lucky with our rolls

Hmm, wonder how the other Arthurian characters are going to be reincarnated/succeeded...

[X] Plan: Once and Future King

So...we're going to hopefully form the Knights of the Round, yes?
This plan looks good.
Reasonable.
Well reasoned.
I and many others who chose this approve of it!
