Turn, Turn and Turn [A]gain! (Turn A Gundam Quest)

of all the gundam series that were made.. I consider Mobile Fighter G Gundam to be the absolute worse that was ever made and I loath its existence.

Week 26 Result Part 4
[X] "Wait!"
--[X] "You said this was not your operation. Whose is it?"
--[X] "If you are so against killing them, why do it at all?"
--[X] "Who is the Dragon?"

"Wait!" The words escape your lips before you can think of a reason why, but Gadget stops her retreat nonetheless. You take a moment to formulate a question, during which Gadget, Ivory and the horse-

Fuun Saiki.

-and 'Fuun Saiki' patiently wait for you to continue.

"You said this was not your operation." You say hurriedly, latching onto the first question that came to mind. "Whose is it?"

"That would be Captain Sweatson Stero. The idiot in that Mahiroo over there, the one with the painted shield." Shrugs Gadget while gesturing towards a Mahiroo in the distance with her mace. "Fleet Admiral Ghingham told him to reinforce the palace just in case, and to take a Sid with him because you are here in the sleeping Turn X, and then that fat fuck pulls this shit!"

She grimaces. "Trust me, had I been in charge, we would not be having this conversation. Your guys would talk to our guys in there, and all we'd be doing would be keeping you away from the palace." Her face falls. "But when the Dragon shows up with orders to kill some of the truest warriors in human history, you cannot assign an idiot to carry them out. And with the rest of the Fleet in pods or on exercises, only Stero and I were immediately available, so I was picked to do it."

"If you are so against killing them, why do it at all?"

Gadget shoots you an offended look. "Excuse me, what? Maybe because I am a soldier, not some idiot militia fighter? You know, a fucking professional?" She turns her Gundam around so that she can give you the finger with its free hand. "I cannot just pick and choose what orders to follow and which ones not to without due, because I do not have the full picture that the Dragon and Admiral Ghingham have."

"You didn't seem all that obedient down on Earth." You comment, thinking back on all the headaches she caused in the war for the Amerian Sunbelt.

"I'll have you know that I was acting perfectly in line with the orders given me by Admiral Ghingham, and that the independence granted us by the late Queen Junno was never rescinded by her or her daughter, her majesty Queen Dianna." She recites easily, her mood brightening somewhat as she speaks. "But to answer your question, even if killing Master Ivory and her partner, who I am very grateful to for revealing themselves by the way, is a course of action that I personally disagree with, I can understand why the order was given."

"Care to share?"

Gadget raises an eyebrow. "Maybe the part where they have for the past two thousand years committed illegal espionage against the Kingdom of the Moon and the House of Soleil on behalf of a defunct non-government military organization, along with all the trespassing and invasions of privacy they have comitted against both the late and the current Queen?" She sighs. "I mean, the only reason they have been allowed to get away with it for so long other than their past as Master Kreis' comrades is that they were harmless, but now that they have given royal and military intelligence to people we are at war with…"

::Ah::

::Er…Well…::

Gadget sighs again. "All those years of peace must have dulled their senses. But still, they'd probably have been left alone even after all that if the Dragon hadn't shown up to give the order."

"You keep mentioning 'the Dragon'." You point out as Gadget refrains from explaining further. "Who are they?"

Her response is instant. "Not telling."

"Who is the Dragon?" You press, to little effect as Gadget figuratively digs her heels in.

"Go fuck yourself. The Dragon could flay me alive and force-feed me my own skin, and I would not know that anything was going on until I started to choke. Like hell I am telling you shit." She promptly turns her Gundam around on its heel and stomps off to the Ghingham lines, cutting the comm-link when you try to call out to her.

*

The hours pass quietly as the two sides stare each other down, but slowly the tension begins to dissipate as it becomes clear that nobody wants to make the first move. A touch of Remote Viewing lets you see that the leader of the Ghingham Fleet force has gone so far as to send his men into the city to bring him desserts, of all things.

As such, you feel safe in climbing out of the White Doll to eat with Sochie, Miashei and Fran.

While you would love to interrogate Ivory and Fuun Saiki the horse, the two of them ran off to confer with Corin and Arisa, who are guarding the other side of the Borjarnaught. You will have to grill the two animals later.

Speaking of grilling, this corn beef the Militia cooks aboard the Borjarnaught cooked up is delicious.

"Do you really have cows and sheep up here?" Wonders Sochie after swallowing a mouthful of her bread ration.

"That's right." You answer before stuffing your mouth with another piece of meat. You take the time to look around while chewing, gazing across the surface part of the Dianna Counter facilities where you began your training almost five years ago. Speaking of years, the new year will be on Monday the week after the next. Christmas is just around the corner…

You are shaken from your musings by the speakers of the White Palace, who play a few notes of music before a high-pitched voice, that of Prime Minister Agrippa Maintainer, is heard from them. The man himself is standing on one of the White Palace's many balconies.

Vestige stirs from their pocket vessel.

It is just me, or has all the Soleil iconography been replaced by that of House Maintainer?

It is true that you haven't seen much of the sigil of the royal family, which used to be plastered everywhere in this part of the capital, but you never really looked into House Maintainer so Vestige's guess is as good as yours.

Heedless of your quiet conversation, Agrippa speaks: "Heed me, Earth Militia! Especially you in the warship!" There is a pause, likely to make sure he has everyone's attention, before he continues. "Shall we see how your Turn X fares against our Turn A?"

What.

You push Fran out of the White Doll's hand, as gently as you can while shaking with quiet rage, before jumping onto it yourself and letting it carry you to the cockpit. Once there you waste no time in grabbing the controls and activating the speakers.

Agrippa notices, you can sense a trace of panic in his Pressure from here. "Stop! This battle shall take place on the Moon's sur-"

"Are you out of your mind!?" You interrupt, yelling into the speakers to drown out Agrippa's voice. "If you know those names, then you know what the White Doll and its sibling really are!"

"If there is anything left when you are done, then I will gladly return everything to Queen Dianna once she arrives." He sneers in return. He takes a remote from the folds of his robes, and a hologram appears, showcasing Lord Guin, lady Lily, and Dianna-as-Kihel, who are being held at gunpoint by-

"Meme Midgard?" You mumble before focusing your senses into the palace. With your new skills your second sight sees straight through the Hidden Hand effect around him, and it becomes clear that Meme Midgard is psychic. You thought his Pressure seemed oddly muted, and now you know why. Suddenly a lot of what happened at the New Donkey Bakery makes a lot more sense.

You brush the disturbing thought aside when you receive a text-only message from Lieutenant Ord. The message is sparse in details, but he intends to make an appearance with Kihel-as-Dianna to bring Maintainer to heel and end this mess.

Speaking of Maintainer: "What will it be, Turn X pilot?" He demands, having grown impatient while you were distracted.

Vestige surges forth, radiating the scent of blood and the joy of tearing warm flesh from a screaming enemy.

We fight, of course. How is this even a question?

Well they have certainly made up their mind, but the question does remain: What do you want to do? Fight the Turn A to distract Agrippa and the Ghingham Fleet from Lieutenant Ord's plan, or try to stall for time so that you will be here when it happens?

-[X] Turn Meme Midgard into chunky salsa with a TK strike.

-[X] If we're fighting Turn A Vestige wakes up Turn X now, so it'll be fully healed and at full strength when we fight.

Not sure about splatting Midgard.

And I don't think even with combat modes engaged the kill zone from the blastout will be that big if neither party is TRYING to do that.

"Not yet." You mumble to Vestige, who angrily trashes in response, before switching the White Doll's speakers back on. "Prime Minister Maintainer, you are of course aware that a battle between two Turn Units is likely to cause collateral damage on a scale not seen since the Calamity? That even if we ignore the threat to Genganam entire cities might be at risk?"

Vestige calms themselves enough to bark a harsh laugh.

Cities? Loran, when Gidae and I…when Gidae and KREIS fought they leveled the Earth Sphere between them even though neither of them entered orbit at any point. Until Turn X fell down to Earth after the battle, that is. Had they fought on the Moon's surface it might have been turned into so many little asteroids.

You ignore Vestige and press onwards. "Maintainer, do you want to die?"

"Of course not!" He scoffs. "The power of the Turn Units is a horror without like! A power that can end all humanity within the day should they ever fully awaken!" Maintainer spreads his arms wide. "But even so, this battle is a necessary evil to help rid the Moonrace of those with awakened combat instincts! It-"

You decide to let him rant in peace and extend your senses to look for the Lieutenant, who is still making his way through the secret passages underneath the White Palace. He could really stand to get a move on, for Maintainer has noticed your lack of response. Not that the Prime Minister says anything new beyond badmouthing Queen Dianna and ranting about 'awakened combat instincts' and the need to keep the Moon free of those who have them.

Personally you are happy to let him rant, but Vestige has other ideas.

…Loran?

I cannot help but notice a distinct lack of us going out there and destroying the Turn A for good. We should get on that. Like right now.

"Not yet." You tell them again. "The Ghingham Fleet seems unwilling to fight in here, so I don't think they'll bring it into the city. We'll wait for the Lieutenant."

Vestige is about to argue, but you notice that Maintainer has stopped his speech and is starting to demand that you go fight the Turn A now.

Week 26 Result Part 6
[X] Stall for time by talking to Meme Midgard.
--[X] Do you know that your boss is writing you and everyone else here off as acceptable collateral damage?

"Meme Midgard!" You yell over the White Doll's speakers. "Do you know that your boss is writing you and everyone else here off as acceptable collateral damage?"

The Midgard on Maintainer's holographic screen raises an eyebrow but does not remove his gun from Lord Guin's back. His Pressure barely rises, remaining skeptical.

"Did you see that blast that destroyed the Mistletoe satellite?" You ask him, trusting in your Hidden Hand to help you bluff. "That was from a bomb-pumped beam designed for an awakened Turn Unit. Both Turn Units are sleepwalking at the moment, but if they are made to fight they might awaken! When awake their power will make their basic beam weapons equal to that massive blast!"

Vestige blinks.

Hold it. How did you know that? I cannot remember telling you-oh! Oh. Buffing. Right.

…You didn't really want to be right about that.

Your realization must affect your Pressure, for Midgard looks away from the White Doll to his hostages, then to Maintainer, and then to his gun. after a few seconds of consideration he lowers his gun and steps aside.

"What are you doing, Midgard?!" Screeches the Prime Minister from his position on the balcony. "Without them the Earth Militia will-"

A telekinetic blast, courtesy of Midgard, slams into the railing of the balcony beside Maintainer, sending shards of stone scattering everywhere and cutting him off. You cannot tell from here just what Midgard tells the stunned prime minister, but from the way the assassin's Pressure twists you know that neither of them likes it.

It is almost fitting, really, that this is the moment that Lieutenant Harry crashes through one of the walls of the throne room with his Gold SUMO.

Kihel-as-Dianna is following at the Mobile Suit's heels and storms forward, making her way across the rubble until she stands at the edge of the ruined dais. Her and Dianna-as-Kihel argue with Maintainer while the three of them rise into the air as the tiles they stand on lift them into the air. The rising pillars take them to the ceiling, where a hatch opens to allow Maintainer to escape.

It is an…interesting sight, but since your only way of telling what is going on in there (excluding your powers) is the picture on the hologram that Maintainer set up you do not have the slightest clue of what they were talking about. Until Dianna-as-Kihel drops character and grabs Maintainer's dropped microphone.

"Ghingham Fleet, this is Dianna Soleil! The Earth Militia are here at my pleasure and is not to be disturbed. In addition, I want you to find Agrippa Maintainer and bring him to me, alive and unharmed."

The response from the Ghingham Fleet force is immediate: The leader's Mahiroo rises to its feet and starts to charge you, arm blades prepared for close combat. And then Gadget is there, clotheslining the smaller Mobile Suit before meaningfully placing her mace onto its prone form. Having made sure that her fellow officer won't do anything stupid, she makes her Gundam gesture towards the rest of the force and their non- Mobile Weapon support, which disperses to close off the exits around the White Palace.

Queen Dianna, the real one, finishes her address with an order to Gadget: To pass along an order to stand down to someone named Gym Ghingham. Her last words before putting the microphone away is a muttered comment that-

"If anyone would pilot that beast it would be him…"

The Royal Guard that came along with the Lunamantique show up at this point to assist in policing the area around the White Palace, and it does not take long before those inside feel safe enough to call the bridge of the Borjarnaught so that they can confer with those on the outside.

Apparently there is an Archive filled with knowledge on the Dark History underneath the White Palace, along with the main control center for the Moon's many cryosleep facilities. Queen Dianna fears that Maintainer might have sabotaged it, through malice or ignorance, and wants to check on it. The tunnels to both of these are designed for massive cargo transports, so there should be no problem with bringing a few Mobile Suits down there.

Keyword being a few, the elevator can only hold about six Mobile Suits. The Lieutenant is going with Queen Dianna, Lady lily is bringing a pair of Borjarnon, and Lord Guin picks you, because of course he would.

You are about to protest when Vestige stops you:

Loran.

You blink and close your mouth, opened to argue with Lord Guin over his insistence of taking his most powerful asset with him instead of leaving it where it could be useful instead. "Yes?"

I…I think I feel something underneath the palace. It feels familiar, so familiar it hurts! We must go down there. We must.

You do not like the way the Pressure Shards that make up Vestige's being look like they are about to come apart, nor are you eager to see what might happen to the White Doll if the Psychoframe Ghost explodes. Looks like you are coming along.

Lord Guin does raise the question of additional Mobile Suits...

Close quarters combat in low gravity. Not places you want to bring Qubeleys or Leo Flight Types.

[X] It will be fine with just yourself.

Sound dangerous but Turn-X should be able to blast it way out if no one there.

There actually was a lot of internal debate on what Ivory was supposed to pilot. In the previous versions of this quest she eas either never intended to appear or was operating on 'foot' while Fuun Saiki went with Loran or Corin, but seeing as neither of those quests got this far into the plot this was obviously never seen.

But as I was saying: I was arguing with myself up to the last second if she should pilot the old Mermaid Gundam she was draggin along in a previous update, a modified Abyss Gundam, or the Master Gundam to go with Fuun Saiki's Fuunsaiki before I settled on the latter. Fuun Saiki's appearance was intended in every iteration of this quest.
