TreeQuest: Magitech (Riot Quest)

@Nigerian Duck . could you do a corpse because this feels like a serial killer stalking
…But how else do people get animals to study? They find one, harmlessly kill it, then dissect it. A long dead body doesn't have the same properties that one shortly dead does. And I'm in the business of living things, not dead ones.

Robertson decided to double-crit on learning Magic, so that's a thing.
Good tree, that Robertson. We should all take a leaf out of his book, I tells ya.

You could try using life magic to study living creatures.
Would probably help with the "Nigerian Ducks Tree is being a creep again" issues.

Well, that's an odd series of weather rolls.
I always roll those a turn ahead, just in case - this turn was already a bit odd.
Next turn is going to be... Well, you'll get some warning, at least. And it could be worse, I think.

Time to properly Hevel and get the Weather Trees properly running!

Also, the Yuadores will be fine - after a grueling childbirth, but still. Not sure Marta Yarrow will be much help on anything else this turn, and Arthur Scrat will be tapped for sure.

Permission is granted for Resources to be spent to improve the conditions of the Yuadores, even and especially if this does not free up time for Ms Yarrow and Arthur.

Wait-

Do you mean Robertson double-crit and got us Meta Magic?

Probably just means that Robertson turned out to be surprisingly good at learning magic from a squirrel. Maybe because he's learning it from random forest creatures.

Ignoring some of our Ally stuff:

32 dice - 17 successes - into: [X] Store Resources Against Future Need
21 dice - (10+10)*1.25 successes - into: [X] The Well-Ordered Mind (Magic Research)
19 dice - 10 successes - into: [X] Water/Fire Negacion (Magic Research)
17 dice - (6,6) successes - into: [X] Specialized Shelters
13 dice - (4,5)+6.25+<Shield Tree> successes - into: [X] Raise the Shield
9 dice - 3 successes - into: [X] Incorporated Growth
7 dice - 3 successes - into: [X] Research Advanced Movement (Magic Research) (Movement Research)
7 dice - 3 successes - into: [X] Feed the Swarm (Bees)
6 dice - 3 successes - into: [X] Grow Defender Ent
6 dice - 2+<Void Tree> successes - into: [X] Empty Veil (Void)

2 dice - 1 success - into: [X] Magical Construct Analysis
2 dice - 1 success - into: [X] Rip and Tear
2 dice - 1+6.75 successes - into: [X] Monster Energy (Magic Biology Research) (Biology Research) (Magic) (Magic Research)

0 dice - 0+10 successes - into: [X] Upgrade the Mining Tree to Elder
0 dice - 0+10 successes - into: [X] Study the Talanburg Farmer

Dice Rolled=156; succeeded=70. +1 with rerolls. I guess the Success dice were feeling cranky this turn.

We had 191 dice last turn, but only 156 this turn. We have 3 fewer votes and 5 more write-ins this turn. Plus I haven't yet included Razzocnor's +2d. Some Ally stuff might grant +dice, too?

But I'm still a touch curious. If anyone feels like investigating and seeing if they can find a discrepancy, please do! If not, no problem - I might or might not get around to it.

You can go ahead and put my +2d on Defender Ent until we've got at least one. I shall actually have an opinion on their usage this time!

So I might personally do a Well-Ordered Mind action next time, because a) its Magic Research and b) a wizard tree knowing its own mind is a very important element of being a mage tree.

The dice are still feeling moderately cranky.

Marta Yarrow's never going to get a love-life at this rate. Well - no, that's not really true. She just had three bad first meetings in a row, is all.

By contrast, Connect to Materson is either done or well-in-progress and Truth/Lie Negacion unlocked amazingly.

Adventuring was a success, but an unusually-difficult one. Working with the Ants had a diplomatic faux-pas (with the Ants, I think, though I'm not 100% sure), but the science side had a significant breakthrough.

There's a bunch of more moderate stuff - "nothing special unlocked but successes added to relevant project" or "no effect at all - progress or penalty."

Nice.

Just keep saving up for some instruction on portal magic, then I can nip off back home, leaving tall tales and confusion in my wake.

My only potential contribution to possibly helping with Marta Yarrow's love-life is if she's still single by the time I get around to Project Dryad.
