The Russia Army has T-34s and KVs but they're missing their really heavy tanks like the IS series.
Makes sense. Those didn't get to the front until early '44.
Their Navy practically doesn't exist but they do have ships and submarines.
So Imperator Nikolai I probably got finished, but still have problems with Krupp cemented armor over nine inches thick.
But just think, Stalin's 5 year plan was never implemented so the shape of Russia's armed forces shows.
And if there weren't any extensive political purges, the officers and general staff are experienced and know what they're doing. I can't believe I'm saying this, but that Russian front might actually be worse for the SS and Nazi-loyalist Wehrmacht soldiers than IRL.

[x] Try to calm down the girls that are extremelypissed or very scared.
[x] Nah (Save it to get a major one)

Realized I didn't actually vote. If John hasn't been officially promoted, then there really isn't much he can do other than suggest things. Granted, I think John may have the most experience fighting the various enemies of humanity, but he also doesn't have much if any naval experience that I'm aware of.

Chapter 11.3
[X] No
[X] Try to calm down the girls that are extremely pissed or very scared.
[X] Nah (Save it to get a major one)

Sitting on an empty box a short distance away, you involuntarily reach for a smoke and light it up. You take some puffs and listen in on the Houshou and Tenryuu's argument.

"Houshou, send my team in. If we're just scouting, then there's no need to use you right now." Tenryuu lightly taps her sword at her side. "It's probably only a small scout party."

"If it isn't, what then? What if they're using battleships? How would you figure it out before it's too late? You're not equipped with any planes, Tenryuu. You'd have to see them but then it would already be too late." You've never seen Houshou verbally criticize anyone with real anger in her voice. Tenryuu just lowers her head as Houshou continues. "Second will go out. Your squadron will stay here until called on." Houshou then leans in and whispers something to Tenryuu who nods in reply. Houshou then steps away to take care of her battle group while Tenryuu goes to hers.

The American cruisers follow Houshou and they discuss something out of earshot. Promptly, the three walk away from Houshou with some displeasure on their faces and go over to your position.

Chester sits on an empty part of your crate and she points at your cigarette. "That tobacco?" You shake your head no so she takes the cig right out of your mouth and starts puffing. As you go for another one, she start complaining. "Houshou said that she doesn't want to command us. Can you believe it? I mean we're volunteering to go fight and she says no."

N.Hampton scowls at her younger sister, who lowers her head in shame. "Chester, that's enough." Louisville takes a seat next to her kin and puts an arm around her shoulder. Your little group remains quiet while the others are going in all sorts of directions. The some of the young girls are holding back tears while the Witches are expressing their anger as lightly as possible to Minna.

It all happens as Houshou is getting her group ready with their equipment. It's somewhat odd to you but it must be natural to them as they prepare their turrets and smokestacks to place on their bodies.

Once you finish your cigarette and doused it, you stand up and get your whistle out.

(Just stop after the first whistle)

Speech roll: 1d100 - base roll 84. Welp, you don't need any bonuses.

You blow it and it gets everyone's attention. Clearing your throat, you motion everyone to come closer. "Listen up. I'm going to be right to the point. This mission is bullshit." You pace around and place a finger over your mouth to hush the mumbling around you. "That is the case but, we have a job to do. And, we don't know what we're facing out there. There's no point in wasting resources on unknowns and risking anyone's lives on a enemies you might not be able to engage. They might not be the only enemies out their, there might be Abyssal reinforcements, Nazis or Neuroi that come in later. So we have to be ready, we have to be careful." You look around to see acceptance in some of their eyes and the younger girls wipe away their tears. "Now, Houshou. To you and your squad, good luck."

The girls that aren't going follow up your speech by cheering on the deploying group, giving them pats on the shoulders, wishing them luck, that sort of thing.

You move away from the crowd and back to the heavy cruisers who approvingly nod to you. You however, shake your head. "My speech only help with morale. It doesn't fix the problem that I have a very bad feeling about this. Dammit."

Louisville tilts her head slightly in confusion. "What do you mean, Sergeant?"

You roll your right hand to a fist and bump your chest. "It's a gut feeling. That's all there is to it."

"So you don't have any proof Sergeant?" N.Hampton asks with a tinge of disbelief in her tone.

You take a seat back on your crate before replying. "Nope, not like we have proof of an enemy scout patrol."

"Yeah, but what can we do? We're not allowed to go. The stupidity of this, tch." Chester spits out her mostly gone smoke and crushes it with her boot. "Wonder why we're even here in the first place? Not telling us a thing."

As Chester muses out loud, you feel something hang over your neck.

When you find out its a duel feature headset (wire and wireless), your 2 fairies jump on your right shoulder and gives a thumps up before pulling a disappearing act. Before you or anyone else could make a comment, Mio announced that the Houshou's group was departing at the harbor so you and the cruisers followed everyone to the send off.

---

---

Out at the harbor, Houshou, Fubuki, Shigure, Yuudachi, Mutsuki and Kisaragi ski away to the east of the base as the sky is darkened by thick clouds. They ski over the water... Well, weirder things have happened.

Minna organizes her Witches to be prepare to sortie at a moments notice while the Panzer crew is asked to crew their tanks and hold in the main hanger. You and the other ship girls are waiting at the harbor front under the building, just waiting.

What to do?
[] Talk to the ship girls (Person(s)+topic)
[] Go back inside the castle, nothing you can do here. (Automatically work on Blueprints)
[] Hey, that's a nice PT boat over there... (Fairies can man the boat)
-[] Ask if the American Heavy Cruisers want in
-[] Bring along all of the ship girls

"If it isn't, what then? What if they're using battleships? How would you figure it out before it's too late? You're not equipped with any planes, Tenryuu. You'd have to see them but then it would already be too late." You've never seen Houshou verbally criticize anyone with real anger in her voice.
I get the distinct impression Houshou's speaking from experience. That it wouldn't be the first time she's seen a shipgirl charge off to her inglorious, wasteful death.
You shake your head no, so she takes the cig right out of your mouth and starts puffing.
Ok, rude.
As you go for another one, she start complaining. "Houshou said that she doesn't want to command us. Can you believe it? I mean we're volunteering to go fight and she says no."
She's well within her rights to refuse to command you lot. She's got no idea what your capabilities are, there's no official chain of command, no real reason to commit you three this early.
The some of the young girls are holding back tears while the Witches are expressing their anger as lightly as possible to Minna.
The little kids must either think people are going to die, or it's the general 'people I care about are arguing with each other. I don't like it.' crying.
Once you finish your cigarette and doused it, you stand up and get your whistle out.
Here we go...
Speech roll: 1d100 - base roll 84. Welp, you don't need any bonuses.
Jah, I'll say.
"Listen up. I'm going to be right to the point. This mission is bullshit."
Our hero being charismatic, everyone.:p

And, we don't know what we're facing out there.
No RAF Coastal Patrol? Neuroi/Luftwaffe must have taken a heavier toll on the Brits than I thought.
As Chester muses out loud, you feel something hang over your neck.

Dammit.

Makes sense, give CAP if need be. RAF Costal's not getting involved, and fighter witches don't exactly have long-range fuel reserves.

[X] Go back inside the castle, nothing you can do here. (Automatically work on Blueprints)
As tempting as hijacking a PT boat is, we'd be better served by getting a PBY-6a Striker with torps/bombs together. If they want John's help, he's got a powerful radio in his head to give them advice and coordination.

not sure what to talk about- so might as well work towards being combat capable i guess?

changing vote:

[X] Hey, that's a nice PT boat over there... (Fairies can man the boat)
-[X] Ask if the American Heavy Cruisers want in
--[X] Just...be in position to reinforce them if things go wrong. If everything goes well, we totally just went on a fishing trip, alright?

yeah better prepared i suppose

Guys just remember that it's only blueprints, not the machine itself, not like you could build it anyway without help. Also, think very carefully.

The mission is going to go FUBAR for sure. So be ready to support.

How else are we to get to know our fellow Americans if not through fishing? Only thing missing is the beer.

Had a thought. How exactly are the fairies supposed to man the PT boat? It makes some sense for them to man rigging because of the whole deal with them shrinking, but will the fairies grow to fit the boat? Or will they possess the boat? Should I just chalk it up to magic? I think I'll just chalk it up to magic.

Aw, I guess I'll actually spoil some magic for you. Yes, fairies can grow to human sizes. (Nobody fucking knows that though. For you, you can use your magic to make your fairies grow up) Overall, they use telekinesis, to a limit, or their small bodies to manipulate man made objects. Essentially...

(I know there's a KantaiColle version but I just can't seem to find it. If someone posts it I'll give you guys something.)

Sorry for posting nothing, work called and ask me to come ASAP yesterday. FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.... overtime.

What's our current SPECIAL again? This is part of what I was referring to with regards to an up-to-date character sheet. Stats, skills, perks, things like that.

say, there was a int and perception requirement of 10 each to understand the planefriend quests, if we raise those stats will browning understand more and more from that vision?

If you ever have the dream again, kinda sorta. More like he understands that the internet and thinks the future is fucked up but otherwise, you get skill points out of it.

drakean used bonus SPECIAL on INT:7->8, additional 1 skill point earned

You take a look at the PT boat moored on the dock, specifically its armaments. 40mm Bofors on the rear, 2 duel .50s and a 20mm at the front, torpedoes are replaced by fuel tanks, no depth charges. Seems like the thing was built as a heavy transport. Of course, that's not counting the 3 Heavy Cruisers on station.

You tap the shoulders of Chester and point to the boat. Her angry face soon changes to a devious smirk and she pushes her sister towards the craft without a word, causing the two to almost trip one another.

"Chester, what are you doing?" N.Hampton takes a few steps to the side which are out of Chester's reach.

Louisville does some hops before regaining her balance when Chester stops pushing. "Sis, stop pushing us!"

"Let's go! Let's go! We don't want to be late! Look at our Sergeant!" You know Chester is pointing at you while you move pass the disoriented ships and head to the spot where the torpedo boat is stationed at.

You unlatch the ropes and jump right on the boat. As you go for the gunner seat on the Bofors, you feel your 2 fairies jump from your shoulders and hear that the ship's engines have started up.

As the other 3 take their time to board, you note the Tenryuu is baffled as her jaw hangs down. "What. Are. You. Do-ing?" She asks aloofly while her sister just smiles and waves. During this, the destroyers look at each other in confusion and whisper to one another in Japanese.

You check your back and make sure that everyone is on, then you hear your headset spring to life. "All ready, Sergeant! Lines are open to the 1st Squadron. Last words?"

You fit the headset and it stays on without any problems, actually it's pretty nice. You start familiarizing the small layout and it just comes to you on what each one does, push-to-talk, frequency change, volume change, stuff like that. You reach for the talk button to say your answer. "Fishing."

As soon as you say those words, you lean forward and hold on to the 40mm's instruments due to the sheer acceleration from the PT boat. "LAUNCH, COMMENCE!" Chester cries out with joy as she starts to steer the ship on course. "GO 40! (knots) YOU CAN DO IT!"

---

---

After Chester was 'relieved' of her post as helmsman by Louisville, the ship maintained it's speed and distance from Houshou's group, about 2,000 yards away. You are scanning the area north, but for the most part are just relaxing on the gunner's station.

"Yo, Sarge." You turn your head to see Chester hold up a M1 helmet and a life jacket. "You look weird without a helmet."

You take them and start putting it on. "Don't call me Sarge. As for the helmet, my old one got blown up and I can't find a replacement, no surprise there. Anyway, thanks." Once everything's all cozy, you notice Hampton coming.

She takes a seat across from you on the 40 and asks wryly. "Sergeant, what are we doing here?"

You do one more scan of the area before leaning in on your chair and turning to Hampton. "I recall saying fishing, Northampton. It might be unconventional, but I believe we have enough of a chance of catching a big one today."

"Sergeant..." You hold up a hand to stop Hampton from continuing. You heard the anger and disapproval in her voice, time to address it.

You push the talk button, but before you can speak, your radio fairy talks first. "Local Channel, Sergeant. Those not on this boat won't hear a word."

You take a breathe. "Shit's going to happen. I fucking know it. Hell, this weather is straight out of those fiction books. The ones with the shitty weather, rain, snow, that type of crap before battles, during battles, after them. Instincts is useful, you don't need proof to know that your life in endangered."

Chester nods approvingly. "Come on, Sis. After all our fighting, you don't have those gut feelings?"

You hear your speakers stir up and Louisville comes on with a tinge of worry. "We only fought about 5 battles, Chester. And I'll be honest, I don't know if we're going to be fine here."

You reach for headset again."For now, just stay alert. We're not here to interfere with Houshou's mission. We'll aid them if they need it, that's all. Okay?"

"Yes, Sergeant."

"Aye Aye."

"Got it skip."

Satisfied by the replies, you decide to do some story telling. "Well then, let me tell you a little about myself in the mean time. So before all this, back in 1940, I was a paratrooper..."

---

---

"So during that battle (Camp Toccoa), you just decide to hop on a 37 without any regard to yourself?" Chester asks without any emotions on her face or in her voice.

"In all fairness, I asked for permission before crawling over the the 37. And we were going up against tanks, we needed something to punch through them." You retort back.

"But you didn't use magic, right? I mean, for sure you didn't have any magic around this time?" Chester asks, a little more excited this time.

"Nope. Pure manpower." You flex your right arm, can't really see your muscles underneath your clothes but whatever.

"Okay, okay. You're crazy Sergeant." You hear Chester walk away to the front of the ship.

Louisville's voice comes out from the headset. "I'd say the same thing, but against tanks, I think he did the right thing."

"Hey, I didn't get hit and we won. That's what mattered in the end." You say back. You turn to N.Hampton and see that she's in thought. It doesn't last long when you hear the echoes of cannons firing. "Report!"

Chester whistles on the radio. "Houshou's group is kicking some ass. I see that she deployed her planes and her escorts are opening up. They're engaging from the east, I think."

You see Hampton get out of her seat and walk to the bow. "Chester, can you count the number of the enemy group?"

"Visually, no. By radar, same answer. They're jumbled up together pretty good but it's probably 6."

You swivel the 40mm to the northwest. "Okay girls, this is what we'll do. Louisville, drive us within 1,000 yards and maintain that distance. Northampton, Chester, keep watch on the battle. All of you should get ready to fight."

"Aye, Sergeant!" As they reply you ask your fairy radio operator to tune in to Houshou's channel, she does so.

Houshou: "Fubuki, torpedoes, now! Shigure, Yuudachi, start heading south and draw their fire! Kisaragi, Mutsuki, finish off those two enemy destroyers!"

Then, for some reason, the radio starts quieting down. You're a bit muddled but then you watch something move in the distance. You scope it out with your binoculars and see several.

That's not friendly at all.
