Okay, roll time. Write something in, maybe a pray to the dice gods and SV roll. First person that posts can vote, the second, I shall choose that person with a roll cause I only see 9 posts and that's manageable.

Begin!

Edit: vekkie, if you see this, you can roll. See if you can beat Late's roll.

S2 Chapter 1.0
The truck sways side to side as a early morning wind rushes past the depot you're staying at. You stare outside to see a few guards move to take cover by the sandbags while others man it up and hold their ground. A few locals out walking with their dogs or strollers or a wheelbarrow pass some salutes in either the American way or the indigenous flat hand the French uses in their military.

You puff out a smoke and check your wrist watch for the time, 6:28 AM local time. Good enough for you to leave now. Snuffing out the light and tossing it in the truck's ashtray, you start the engine to a mild startle of the guard nearby. You signal the close French guard that you're leaving. Promptly he salutes you and goes to open the gate. You give your map a once over and start driving out onto the streets of Paris.

Paris is only a stepping point for you to get back to the front. You take the path northeast, exiting the city limits and being out alone in allied territory without any supervision. Not that you would need it. The countryside is peaceful as far as you can tell. A few times planes fly overhead but otherwise you don't see much anything but decaying vegetation and pot holes. The destination to where you're heading, Saint-Omer and it's surrounding towns that aren't labeled, is slightly over three hours with you speeding down the varied quality roads.

Upon entering the area, it's a buzz with people busy setting up posts and readying machines for war. As you scan left and right, you immediately have to brake to avoiding a wandering group of pedestrians and soldiers crossing the road. It's mildly discomforting to your body but you stop well away from the group as the truck screeches to a halt, yet it's not enough to avail the cries of the children or some of the adults.

After you recover from the recoil, you stare at a one little girl is standing proud before the group in position like she was going to stop the truck. Only a moment later do you recognize it's Ikazuchi in a kinda sorta confused face and in a pose no longer needed. As the French spat out words you don't understand, mostly at each other as they don't face you, Houshou and the other Akatsuki class comes out to the street and quickly try to pushes everyone to a side.

You lean out to let them get a view of your face when they finally lay eyes on you when they're safely to the left side. Ikazuchi is the first to point at you before the other three shout together.

"Sensei!"
"Sensei!"
"Sensei!"
"Sensei!"

You greet them with a wave before you continue on your way to the local supply area. You go through the motions and right when you finish the destroyers finally arrive in force. "SENSEI!"

Mant+Emp-2 cause Soulless. 4d10: (4 +6 +7 +9) 2 successes.
Presence+Social-2 cause Soulless. 2d10: (3 +3) Oh boy.

You turn around as the destroyers gather around you, your back facing the truck and the destroyers ever flowing with joy on your arrival. That said, you know deep inside that you cannot put into words how empty you feel and it corrupts your ability to talk or show your old self in front of them. "Sensei! Sensei!!! Where have you've been? How are you?" Again, Ikazuchi is first to be in your face though is barely restrained by the other three.

"Ikazuchi, calm down a little bit." Inazuma attempts to temper her sisters high energy levels using words to little effect.

Hibiki is more calmer but her face shows the same joy the others have in your return. "Sensei. How have you been?"

"Just okay." Is what you answer without much enthusiasm to their rather equal lack of energy.

"Okay?"
"Okay?"
"Just okay?"

"Sensei, what's wrong?" Akatsuki asks for all of the destroyers yet you have no real tangible answer or clue to the why. For now, BS reply.

"Tired. No big deal. Why are you all here?" You redirect them with a question to their presence in France, They were suppose to be in Germany if you recalled.

"Oh oh!" Ikazuchi raises her hand before answering you back in full force. "There are Abyss in the city north! Cale-something. And that other place right to it. But we're attacking the closer one cause we're here to help out!"

"Hmm." Calais, that's a port city. And a few kilometers away is Dunkirk. Yeah, you could see that as being an issue tactically and strategically.

Then all of a sudden Akatsuki shouts to the others. "Ah! Everyone, we need to go back to Houshou or she'll get mad at us for leaving too long! Sensei, sorry but we have to go." She says something in mangled French that you would assume is a farewell as the others give theirs to you in English, except Hibiki.

"Bye bye Sensei!"
"Later."
"We'll talk later Sensei!"

"Hmm." They run off back where they came. As for you...

Action:
[] Occupied city under Abyss = War. Yeah, you're going in and slaughter them. Their ground forces are nothing in comparison to you. Next action, Calais.
-[] Go in right now. Think of it as Assault Reconnaissance. It's similar to being loudly stealthy with no witnesses alive.
[] Go find Houshou. Or one of the people in charge of the upcoming attack.
-[] Actually just follow the destroyers and try not to act like a social oddball.
[] Skirmish/Attack Dunkirk. It'll probably scare the Abyssals at both sites. Maybe they'll do something dumb and send reinforcements over there.
[] Write-in/stunt. Like find a plane, gather more weapons/supplies by rushing to the nearest supply post in the rear, scout.

[X] Go find Houshou. Or one of the people in charge of the upcoming attack.
Time to go find out where we're needed.

---

You track behind the destroyers as they head to a northern two-story building covered in several places with camo tarps. The guards let them and you in with a salute. Inside they run up the creaky stairs to the provisional command room where many Frenchmen and a few other minorities were plotting around a table. You don't understand the French and other languages going around so you make haste to the where quadruplet ships park themselves at. Conveniently or most rightly they have no other options, it's Houshou at the far corner.

When you come close, she's well aware of your presence and nods her head towards you. Still doesn't stop Ikazuchi from informing your existence. "Houshou-san! Houshou-san! We found Sensei!"

The carrier smiles to her children and indicates to her hands that she's very much mindful. "I can see as he's right behind you."

"He is?" The sisters sport their eyes onto you, during which you station yourself at the wall and watch the officers make their plans.

Trying to get that social thing down. -2 from lacking a soul, +1 cause topic is WAR. 3d10: (6 +2 +5) And you fall short.

You give a weak greeting to the senior ship girl."Houshou."

"Captain. You seem to be well." Houshou tries to strike a conversation with you, yet there's nothing in your mind.

You don't feel like chatting and as such, let out a grunt as a reply. "Hmm." It's not good for conversation, you know it. But you have no willingness or thoughts that really need to be spoken right now. You should be agitated or annoyed as you can recall and recite even the most norm of statements to say to her that neither is angering or offensive. Again, you have nothing.

This of course worries Houshou as it is heavily different that you normal behavior. "Captain?"

"Hey," Akatsuki lightly tugs on the carrier's dress to get her attention away from you. "Sensei said he was tired. Maybe we should give him a room?"

Inazuma pitches in with. "Maybe he'll be better after a nap?"

Though honestly your body doesn't need it, if only you could be touched by their concerns. "I'm okay. So, what's going on here?" You elbow to the men at the table doing their mumbling and map pointing. There were more important things to discuss to your knowledge.

"The French? They're making plans for an assault on Calais since the Abyss manage to hold up a strong line there. Maybe Dunkirk on the same day. They're debating on it for some time."

So the French are working on this. "With what?"

"Two divisions, I think. As for our task, we're to form a blockade should any Abyss at sea interfere with the attack."

"Hmm." Sounds okay, you suppose. "Do we know the number of Abyssals?"

"No, though some say hundreds are entrenched at the city limits. We don't actually know if there's still people inside the city. That isn't including those at Dunkirk." That is not uplifting news on the inhabitants. "Hey, are you really fine to be up?"

You're too slow to answer Houshou when Hibiki asks her question."Sensei, are you going to fight?"

"Maybe." Your mind spools back to some semblance , creating some what ifs and plans on the situation. Calais and Dunkirk are port towns/cities and that is always good as they can be supply ports, should the harbors be in working order after the recapturing. As to the fate of the civilians, well you know what will become of them if they fell before or what will occur if they're still alive and surrendered.

At the same time, these Abyss garrisons probably aren't the most fiercest units to contend with and what Allied men and materiel here should be able to handle them, be it encircling the enemy and skirmishing them to death, or a head-on assault. The bigger threat are the ones stationed in Belgium, the Netherlands and the areas between France's Maginot Line and Germany's Siegfried Line. Though those two are further southeast from you.

So supply lines, or the big fishes. Need to focus on one group.

Action:
[] Amateurs study strategy, professionals study logistics. Calais will be under the Allied banner when the attack finally comes in 2-3 days. This gives you free time to do something. (Choose only 2 actions.)
-[] Really, really, really, try to socialize with other people. You know it's going to be a problem, not during the actual attack, but the before and after.
-[] You need something fitting to use against infantry and any 'armored' opponents. You should make something. Do some arts and crafts.
-[] Scout our Calais or find information regarding the city.
-[] Scout Dunkirk or find information regarding said locale.
-[] Mediate someplace alone but not near the line.
-[] Read some normal news about nations and the world.
-[] Maybe you're forgetting something? Write-in.
[] Give into your wrath and engage the Abyss before your brain remembers the cost of failure. Doesn't matter if it's the Nazis, or the Abyss, or the Neuroi. Not one more day will the enemy stand. (Regain all Willpower and go berserk again, but lose a point of integrity)
-[] Fucking attack Dunkirk too. Keep those bastards fearful of you.
[] Hold your anger and focus on skirmishing the Abyss at Calais to figure out their strength and numbers. What better way to know the force of the enemy than getting them to counter attack? Well, killing them also helps.

-2 from lacking a soul
o_O... we need to fix that.
"The French? They're making plans for an assault on Calais since the Abyss manage to hold up a strong line there. Maybe Dunkirk on the same day. They're debating on it for some time."
... aw hell. We're not dealing with some hasty re-conquest. We're dealing with some last holdouts trying to dig in until their backup arrves.
"Hmm." Sounds okay, you suppose. "Do we know the number of Abyssals?"

"No, though some say hundreds are entrenched at the city limits. We don't actually know if there's still people inside the city. That isn't including those at Dunkirk."
Hm... shouldn't be too bad, not unless it's more Abyssal shipgirls.

Yes, the rest of the Abyssals big push before the Neuroi/Nazi partnership crumbled.

One way or another we're getting back to the 501st, we can socialize then, I was never really behind the transcendence thing anyway.

The Abyssals took our soul so lets take their everything.

One lost point of integrity can't be that bad, right?

Really, really, try to socialize 2d10: (6 +6) Legit social problems and stigma.
Meditation, Comp+Wits, 6d10: (6 +3 +2 +5 +9 +1)

Deep in your thoughts, you come to a result of a wait and see approach. More in the line of fixing your mental issues and the illness that is apathy and a unending void inside yourself. Looking at Hibiki, Akatsuki, Inazuma, Ikazuchi, and Houshou, you try to come up with things to talk about. Something, a conversation starter and words after that. You've done small talk countless times before, even when you didn't want to. You know, but your mind is empty!

You can think of topics! You can talk! You can emote! You could do those things before. Why not now? Because you don't need to.

'And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.'

With what remaining social self preservation that your physical entity remembers, you walk out of the room to the bewilderment of those that know you and to the minor ire of the Frenchmen. You head out the HQ building then out somewhere beyond the town so long as the direction isn't north, avoiding people, until you come to the green hills and valleys interestingly full of greenery and not much destruction. It's a nice spot, is what you would say.

You find a concealed spot under some foliage and sit yourself down for a time out. There you meticulously take out your Hi-Power and Colt and start disassembling them without a real reason to. Maybe it would help your mind, or at least be busy with a task. You couldn't mess that up, could you? Thirty minutes later, you were done. Just like that, time flew by and you were barely aware of what your hands were doing and what you were thinking.

You took the pistols apart and put them back together again. Done. That was that. Achieving nothing worthy of time itself and using time for no purpose or goal in mind. Happy? Sad? Disappointed? Anything? No. Mindlessly you lie down and take note of the blue sky. Then it goes dark. You close your eyes. What was the point? You block out the noise of nature and stumble into slumber.

Amidst the deep ocean of sleep, you suddenly jolt up awake and alert, finding the midnight sky above full of stars burning bright, and internally your being is energized with a past vigor, power, and feeling since almost a year . It's mildly cold as you touch the grass beneath with your hands, the wind gently ruffling your body, it is a wondrous feeling. And.. you need to do something. Something important right now.

Take over Dunkirk and Calais, in that order.

That's right! You need to immediately terminate all the enemies and rescue the people trapped there before it's too late! To do that, you need to go...

Action:
[] Surprise sea night attack. The Abyssals will never see that coming.
-[] With ship girl support. They'll don't stand a chance.
[] You are a tank. Tank in the air, tank on the ground, no problem against the things they use as infantry. So attack without doubt or fear. The night belongs to you.
-[] If Fabian had tanks, what would he do? Fabian tactics but with tanks. Or you. So, just you doing some guerrilla works.
[] You need to go east. Then, something something that correspond with ending the enemy presence. Eh? Why go east again? Uh, thing?
[] Wow, sleeping sure cured you of whatever ailed. Sleep some more. Attacking at night seems like a dark move, so do it during the day light. It's way easier to snipe in sunlight anyway.

Oh hell, it's that shitty prey remake. We're not John anymore, are we? We're just an... Abyssal, Neuroi, something not human.
