To The Ends of the Galaxy: A Space Opera Quest

[x] Arranging a charity concert. Theodora has been wanting to see Heyali perform in person for a while, and they'd certainly not refuse a request from the royal palace to headline a concert for orphans. It was a perfect alignment of duty and Theodora's own desires.

Not only does this allow us to indulge, it also allows us other people's money for a good cause.

[x] Visiting a military hospital. There was no war going on at the moment, but training accidents and border skirmishes and routine patrols saw a steady stream of wounded soldiers arriving for treatment in The City. The Argolid dynasty had been installed at the point of spears and so a special relationship between the Crown and the military must always be maintained.

Going with this, since it seems the most likely path to eventually becoming a strategos. Though if anyone has any good arguments as to why the other choices would be better I'm all ears.

My only argument is the our character is only 5 Yeats old and IMHO I don't know if she would correctly understand what is happening. And well, that she might get a wrong impression because she would only have a very sanitized visit in order to spare the heir young impressionable mind, which could skew her view.

As much as I still prefer the alms, I also prefer military hospital over the concert, and that military hospital at least has a solid backing.

[X] The middle daughter of the Qyasar Erum and his Spartan bride, a tween just now reckoning with knowledge of her fate as a dynastic pawn. You are watching the address with your older half-brother, the heir to the throne, on the border world of Teotihuacan where your father is holding forth with the Assembly of Peers.

That vote has already ended and we have move onto another vote.

@Cavalier Please could you threadmark the latest update?

Done.

Anyway the vote is in a sense about what you as questers, not so much Theodora, want to see. That said it's far from super-critical; her life path isn't going to be decided here. The most that is at stake is one vote of several to help with stat distribution as Theodora grows. There might also be a chance to turn the incidental interest into an ongoing one but that'd be up to you all.

From a pragmatic perspective, especially given Cavalier's last post, I see the value in the Military option, but I like trying to put character first in quests, and I think that concert is just where we'd go from an in-character standpoint. So yeah I'm not going to try and convince anyone on this one; I think it's just differing perspectives.

EDIT: I dislike this post because it comes across as condescending and I do apologize for that, it was literally the opposite of my intent; my head was... floaty, for lack of a better word when posting it and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea. I have since changed my mind.

At this point we're only one update yet. We haven't really established a personality yet.

We don't necessarily have a strict personality, but I think "Concert" makes more sense for a 5 year old girl to be wanting on her birthday than "military base", even one of significant prestige. We don't have a personaltiy given to us by the QM, but traits that I would argue can be inferred.

It's not really a gift or even strictly stuff she's coming up with. Theodora and her mother (mostly her mother) are finding a way to introduce her to the public duties of royalty. So all the choices can be seen as options presented to her to choose from, with the concert giving Theodora an opportunity to tack on something she wanted to do anyway. What that implies relative to the other options should be clear enough I think.

Fair enough. My bad for misinterpreting. Thanks for the clarification, much appreciated.

In my opinion doing some good while enjoying yourself is not a bug but a feature.
And if people really want to do something for the military, Theodora could create or be a patron for an organization similar to the American USO.
But that would be for later turns.

I like the concert option, but the resulting trait doesn't appeal.

The military hospital is more likely to have positive results.

[X] Presenting a liturgy to the Sarayburnu Universalist Temple. The Concord of Humanity in its many branches sees to the souls of the population as the dynasty sees to their material needs. A liturgy, an artistic project designed to beautify a temple and uplift its congregation, would strengthen the Concord and remind everyone that the Argolids were rightful protectors of the Ethical Compact.
