This Mighty Scourge of War: A Reconstruction-Era Quest

We basically moved up the timetable on both the Franco-Prussian War and the Risorgimento by distracting Britain. Nothing's too far off yet, but it's possible that something gets butterflied in the future.

[X] Plan: Coorperative Balancing

Nationalizing the railroads will unfortunately have to wait until the next economic shock, perhaps.

[X] Plan: Coorperative Balancing

Unfortunately nationalizing major rail routes now could, as the option noted, incentivize capital to retaliate & worsen the crisis.

We do need to tackle the robber barons & curb infrastructure inefficiencies by nationalizing major rail routes as soon as the econ crisis winds down tho.

Luxembourg becoming a part of the German Empire in this timeline is the first unintentional butterfly I think. I'd say we'd get immigration from the Duchy due to Bismarck's Kulturekampf but the population is infinitesimals tiny.
It's feasible that (assuming Prussia wins) they leave Alsace-Lorraine in French hands as Bismarck wanted instead of taking it for the Metz Valley mining, since there's surprisingly a fuckton of iron in Luxembourg. But while that has a lot of implications there aren't any for the US, really.

Here's an implication for the US. The San Juan Boundary Dispute might go hot. Otl the German Empire was picked to decide who got the islands and it was the US the gets them. Itl there's no way the UK let's the US get the islands any time this decade and no way the US let's the UK do the same. The island is currently under joint occupation with both US Soldiers and British Marines and despite both sides previously being friendly the Fenian uprising might make this island a flashpoint.

Back to Germany it might be much easier for Prussia to assimilate Luxembourg compared to Elsaß-Lothringen since it's smaller both territory and population wise. France also might not have as much revanchism to enact Plan XVII though they'll still smart from any possible defeat to the Germans.

[X] Plan: Coorperative Balancing
-[X]Expand the labor pool by loosening restrictions on immigration.
-[X] Strengthen trade ties with Latin America to compensate for the loss of trade with Europe.
-[X] Encourage consumer cooperatives and farmers' associations in order to reduce prices.
