Winner: Kitty

You hurry over to the merry-go-round and find Kitty waiting in line to get back on. You hope... again because if she's been standing there this whole time and hasn't had the chance to ride the ride... that really sucks. Especially since you're about to drag her away from her spot.

"Hey, Kitty, can I borrow you for a little super-hero-ing?"

"Wha--yes! Ohmigosh, Is everybody OK?"

"Everyone here is fine, this is over in Queens. I got a text from Spider-man, don't have a lot of time to explain. We need a distraction!"

You literally don't have time to explain as Edie and Gwen come running up. Gwen is pulling on a hoodie and a thin, white mask over her mouth and nose. Edie reaches out her arms.

"Everybody grab on!" You do as instructed, and you feel sort of a pulling sensation... then an instant later you're gone.

... and then you're back. No worse for the wear, all things considered, although your pizza isn't sitting so great anymore. Fortunately, you seem to be where you need to be. Traffic is backed up on both sides of the street and a large semi truck is sitting catty-cornered across the center of the entire road. There's a bunch of guys in jeans, white hoodies, and white balaclava who seem like they're trying to take stuff from the back of the truck and hustle it off somewhere, but Spider-man is decidedly against that plan. He lands in front of you guys for a second, but keeps his head on a swivel.

"MAN am I glad you're here! I've never had to deal with these guys before, but they're organized. I'm not sure what they want outta the truck... it's all... old stuff, too, so it's kinda delicate I bet. An' I'm tryna keep 'em from it... but there's just SO MANY. If you guys could keep them distracted, or at least... keep most of them distracted I... I might be able to get the truck itself outta here. Ah, jeez, traffic's really backed up..." He puts a hand to his forehead and sighs. "I was just gonna carry it out, but now... I dunno if I can hoss it that far..."

"I can probably help with that," suggests Gwen, "but uh... someone should also stay with Edie. She's not lookin' so hot..."

You turn and, indeed, Edie is only being supported by leaning heavily on Gwen. "I'm sorry, guys... we... went a long way..."

"I'm awful at this tactical stuff... I usually work solo, y'know?" Spider-man turns to you, a sheepish tilt to his head. "You're smart, whaddyou think we should do?"

Come Up With A Plan!
[ ] Write-In.

@Wightraven couple questions that might help. If Vilina can discern this information quickly.
1. Does Vilina actually know what Gwen's powers are? That'll help with planning.
2. How many guys are there? A rough count will do.
3. What kind of buildings are around us? Apartments? Offices?
4. How many exits are we looking at? Alleys and such.

[X] Have Gwen and Spidey get everyone away from the truck for a while, then you'll steal the truck and have Kitty drive away, while you hold onto Edie and Tip the Scales against them catching you while you drive towards the nearest patrol or other source of backup.

All good questions.

1. No. Not fully. You know she can pick up a vehicle from the conversation earlier, but you guys haven't talked too much about your powers.
2. Looks like twelve. No, fourteen. Seven? They're using the sea of vehicles to their advantage to hide their numbers. More than ten, you're pretty sure. Less than twenty.
3. Mixed residential and businesses. Not super tall, but tall.
4. About one alley on this blocked off portion of the street, but between the cars offers a lot of options to escape through... or over them, if the escapee were bold enough.

@The Froggy Ninja don't think we can drive away with traffic like it is.

How about
[X] Plan lockdown.
-[x] Spiderman
--[x] Web shut that alley. The other exits are too wide to be worth
---[x] Then focus on keeping them off Gwen while she works
----[x] Once the doors are taken care of, team up with Gwen to beat down goons
-[x] Gwen
--[x] Get to the back of the truck, close the door(s) then use your superstrength to smash them/it shut. If you're strong enough to lift the thing, you're strong enough to bend some metal until it's wedged.
---[x] Once the doors are taken care of, team up with Spiderman to beat down goons
-[x] Shadowcat
--[x] Try to disrupt their orginization, if you see some forming up for something, phase down into the ground and trip them, if you see one that's trying to interrupt Gwen somehow, pop up behind them and spook them, then phase away. Use your best judgement.
-[x] Fortune
--[x] stay with Edie, and try to Tip the Scales in our teams favor if we get time.
-[x] Edie
--[x] try to stay out of the way.

Taking the truck is a good idea, but not feasible with current conditions. What we need to do is deny them access to the goods. Once that's done, then we can focus on taking them out in detail (though they'll probably book it)

Winner: Plan lockdown.

OOC: Well, that vote didn't exactly generate the enthusiasm I was hoping for. Live and learn, I guess. I'm trying to exercise a variety of questing/choice 'styles' to get a feel for how best to encourage discussion and keep you guys excited. Feel free to let me know what works and what doesn't, what you'd like to see more of and what you'd like to see less of. What you like about the quest, what you don't, etc. etc. etc. <3

"Uh... OK. Spider-man... are there any artifacts missing from the truck?"

"I... don't think so. I dunno. Like I said, they're hard to keep track of."

"Good. Why don't you... web off that alley. At least it's one less exit we have to watch. Gw--"

"Ghost Spider," she interjects.

"Right. Ghost Spider, sorry, you said you're super-strong, right? Get those doors closed... permanently, if you have to. After that, you and Spider-man team up to take out the thieves. Spider-man, while she's doing that... just... keep them off of her. Please." You put your head on a swivel, trying to get another count of the goons and failing. "Shadowcat, keep them distracted, and keep them from creating a numbers advantage. Trip them up, confuse them... scare them. Anything! Priority is keeping them off of Ghost Spider while she works, and keeping civilians safe. I trust your judgement."

"On it!" Kitty salutes you and phases downward, popping just her hands up to grab the shoelaces of two goons 'hiding' near each other behind a car and tie them together.

"Good. I'm gonna stay with Edie and... do the best I can."

Having heard the end of the plan, Gwen and Spider-man zip off, Gwen to the truck where she punches a thief CLEAN across the street to keep him away from the contents and Spider-man to create a web-net in the alley. You gently help Edie lay on the ground and start checking her vitals. She's still conscious and breathing normally, but doesn't seem very aware of her surroundings. She seems little more than exhausted, so there's not much you can do for her but let her rest. You kneel beside her and cradle her gently just in case you need to haul her to her feet, focusing your powers on the fight at hand. You hope Kitty and Spider-man keep them off of Gwen long enough for her to shut the doors... you hope she can get them shut quickly so they can turn their attentions to the goons... and you hope you look like an unworthy enough target that the thieves leave you and Edie alone.

Gwen closes the double doors at the back of the truck's trailer and leverages her foot on the center, keeping them closed while she grabs one end and bends it inward. You have no idea how she's that poised and flexible... must be part of her powers. She switches feet and grabs the other end, squishing it to make the doors nearly impossible to open, then for good measure webs the handles up. You make an audible 'oh!' sound as you watch her exhibit powers you suddenly realize you're very familiar with before zipping off to the alley to help Spider-man finish webbing it over. Kitty is doing a phenomenal job keeping the thieves busy, though a few break away and make for the truck... and see the mess that's been made of the back end. They all turn to face Spider-man and Gwen who web-swing kick them into the locked traffic! They land not too far from you.

"Awesome! All right. Now we just gotta web 'em up and call the cops," Spider-man nods, hands on his hips, rather proud of himself.

"OK, uh... problem!" Kitty pops up out of the ground right near the group of you, "the... uh... bad guys are... disappearing?"

"Which way!?" asks Gwen, looking frantically between both exits.

"No, I mean, they're just... poofing!" You all look around and notice... there are in fact, no more goons. "I was trying to distract some that looked like they were going for you and when I went to tap on their shoulders they just... weren't there anymore!"

"Ah, hell," Spider-man hangs his head. "I hope someone got footage of this fight, 'cuz otherwise this looks like our fault... The Bugle is gonna have a field day with this..." Sirens sound off in the distance. "Well, someone called the cops. So... at least traffic can resume. Thanks for coming, Fortune. I'm not sure if this would've gone as well without you guys here."

"No problem, Spider-man. Sorry we couldn't... detain any of them."

"Ah, I don't think that's your fault. Kinda feel like that woulda happened either way." He sighs and looks to Gwen. "Nice... uh... nice webs, by the way."

"Thanks," Gwen responds. "Yours are cool, too. External, or are they part of your powers?"

"External. Came up with 'em myself. You?"

"Gift from a friend."

It's not long before the police arrive. Spider-man does most of the talking, and a few eye-witnesses and people hungry for YouTube views tell their version of the tale and show footage of the fight. Gwen texts Other Gwen and lets her know what happened to the four of you and that you... probably won't be able to make it back to the party. Which sucks, because you were having fun and making a lot of new friends, but... well, saving the day is kind of your ballywick, and it was good experience to work with some new people. You all arrive back at the Philip J. Coulson Memorial Academy after a few hours, and even Edie seems like she's feeling better... though still a little tired. You resolve yourself to relaxing for the rest of the evening, but no sooner do you get back to your room than you have a text message.

Spider-man
Thanks again for earlier. Seriously, you guys saved my butt. Tell everyone else I said thanks, too.

Vilina
No problem. Thanks for thinking of me.

Spider-man
Hey, you're basically the smartest person I know that isn't Mr. Stark.

Vilina
I will totally take being second place to a genius like him!

Spider-man
So, uh... don't go around telling people or anything, but my name is Peter. I figure you've earned that much. ... and I've earned a little R&R for the rest of the night. You down to play some Civ?

You were torn between Netflix and just calling it a night... but an invitation like that is too good to pass up. You feel like you're going to spend most of tomorrow sleeping and most of Monday morning regretting, but for once you really don't care.

Vilina
I'd love to! My name's Vilina, by the way.

Spider-man
Cool : )

You, Peter, and his friend Ned team up to DESTROY some enemy civilizations for the rest of the night, and as predicted you end up staying up WAY past your usual bedtime. Still. Worth. You're staring at the alarm clock on your phone, deciding what to do...

What Do You Do?
[ ] Sleep in. Do your best to go to bed early tomorrow.
- Well-rested for your new school week.
[ ] Sleep in. Cancel with Gwen for Monday. Go to bed less late tomorrow.
- Well-rested for your new school week.
- May be harder to maintain workout routine.
- Gwen will be disappointed.
[ ] Wake up early. Try to find out how the party went from Other Gwen. Go to bed early.
- You will be very tired as you attempt to perform activities tomorrow.
- Progress relationship with Other Gwen/gather information.
[ ] Wake up early. See if there are any leads on the attempted robbery. Go to bed early.
- You will be very tired as you attempt to perform activities tomorrow.
- Progress relationship with Peter/gather information.
[ ] Wake up early. Check in on Edie. Go to bed early.

Let's look after our own health first because that is important.

What does "wake up early" mean? I knw the individual words, but they don't really seem to make sense together.

Also, regarding votes like the last one: if it's a write in with a plan, people tend to wait for a 'dedicated planner' who makes one. I've seen people discuss it more if there are some options to choose from.

Let's say for the sake of argument it's 4 AM when Vilina is going to bed. If she got a full eight hours of sleep, she would wake up at noon, which would make it harder for her to wake up early Monday to go jogging and go to classes. Waking up early (as opposed to naturally) would see her try to get up at 10 AM, or even 8 AM to make it easier for her to transition into her usual sleep patterns for the week.

One night of 4-6 hours sleep won't kill us. Hell, it'd barely slow us down

This is my perspective and feel free to rebut if you feel my opinion is inaccurate/incorrect but I feel that there was no much enthusiasm for the previous vote because our options are severely limited by our choice of team which also limited by us not possessing information regarding other people in the party.
Like if we knew roughly other people's (options) power there might be more discussion regarding who should we take, the presence of other Gwen (Ghost Spider) might also expand the choice (about her team members powers etc).
But since we don't have any information regarding other people we stick with someone we already know and trust and so I feel there's less excitement about this new encounter.

Knew I forgot the /s.

No self respecting teenager would be up before noon if they can help it.
