SEELE... can be ousted with a solid chance of success next tern, if you like Über-Soldats in your base, killing your dudes. Certainly a valid and interesting option though.

The moon base assault is still a long way off. A really long way off if you destroy the current UFO.

The earlier you annex NERV, the earlier you can change NGE canon, certainly.

The alien's objective...

They're heading to Terminal Dogma with a giant bomb, what do you think?
They like explosions? Also, need to hire more internal security and Ops people now. Also, PROMOTIONS.

Noted. Annexing NERV and ousting SEELE, both possible in the very near future... If you can tell us, how do the Über-Soldats stack up to our rookies, at current? I'm curious how they stack up to all our troops, but, rookies are generally the baseline, so.... We'll use them as baseline I suppose.

At current, i'm just going to suggest we go with waiting, say, two turns, perhaps three before we oust SEELE, and try to strongarm NERV immediately into letting us help with/putting us in charge of security. IF things go well we should be able to do so with a minimum of trouble.

The waiting on SEELE is so we can have laser weapons and Carapace armor on everyone when the Uber Soldats attack which I HOPE should be enough to minimize casualties, without knowing anything about what they are or can do.

Would the bomb do any good?

The bombs are, at least in my head canon, enough to devestate or totally wipe out a city. Yes, the bomb would probably do what they want it to.

@EternalStruggle I advise against telling us what the Uber-soldat are actually capable of, not without us investigating it 'In Character'. Leave them to our imagination for now.

Otherwise, I like Traveler7's itinerary, although I expect numerous delays.

There's always delays, my friend. Still, it's nice to have an itinerary for how things will go if we don't get distracted or get our heads kicked in.

And, I imagine he won't tell us what they can do till we research them. I want to know, and i'd love it if he DID tell us, don't get me wrong but we're going to research it soon, possibly next turn, anyways. In any case, I expect they'll at least be able to stomp our security teams, and at least go toe to toe with our rookies as they were at start with no issues. Reaper rounds and med kits might give us an edge, but I would not want to try and take them on without lasers and carapace armor for EVERYONE, hence the wanting to wait just a little longer. Get better equipment, get more evidence, get everything distributed, and THEN take SEELE down HARD.

[X] All Skyrangers will move to Terminal Dogma.
[X] The Eliminators will 'eliminate' the X-RAY Scout

If anything else, XCOM teaches you to play it safe, and that a fair fight is the last thing you want to get into.
Question: Seeing as we're about to capture our second bomb intact (hopefully), is it possible to research those things? Might have applications in improving our missile warheads and give us an alternate in towards fusion tech.

No no. I mean like, how will having something like Lasers or medkits effect the rolls?
Weapon and armor techs provide a buff to our skill multiplier, med-kit's reduce the severity of our casualties, autopsies & interrogations give a flat bonus vs that enemy type, and promotions give additional base skill + special rules. Certain researches and upgrades will also unlock new modifiers and special rules that can be given to our troops.

A close reading of the first post will tell you most of what you need to know, really. Just move past the dividing line that is the intro & first vote for this quest.

Let's see, going by just the stuff covered by the main post, what is our strikeforce's current combat power...

Rookie; 15 (skill) * 1.5 (mil tech) + 5 (Mankind's Finest) + 5 (Know the Enemy) = 32.5 * 4 (squads) = 130 Combat Power
Non-coms; 18 (skill) * 1.5 (mil tech) + 5 (Mankind's Finest) + 5 (Know the Enemy) = 37 * 2 (squads) = 74 Combat Power
Total = 130 + 74 + 10 (SHIVs) = 214 Combat Power!

Of course, this comes with a number of caveats. The most obvious, our combat power doesn't actually stack up this way, as each unit can be defeated independently of the others. Additionally, 'Know the Enemy' only applies to autopsied or interrogated aliens (bonus bigger for interrogation), so vs the floaters our Total Power is 184. And the Uber-Soldat are likely able to nullify the 'Mankind's Finest' buff.

However, there are also a number of special rules that really buff our guys. Reaper rounds, for instance, will allow our guys to punch a lot harder for one round of combat, turning a losing prospect into a winning one. Additionally, non-com level operatives gain two new Rules that make them significantly more likely to survive any engagement, and that's before accounting for our SHIVs' role as expendable fodder. And the Uber-Soldat are the only known possibility of anybody being able to contest 'Mankind's Finest'.

[X] Split up. Two squads go to the UFO, 4 squads, including our veterans go to Terminal Dogma to save NERV. Eliminator Usage should be a mix of Own Damn Doors and Support. While Blowing up EVERYTHING would probably solve several problems, it'd earn us the enmity of some of NERV, and while we don't much care over that, it may not be something we can afford RIGHT this second. Maybe send one Eliminator Squad to the UFO, the other to NERV?

HOLY SHIT IT'S FUCKING LILITH ARGH WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT?
Traveler7's plan it is, I suppose.

UFO Crash Site
The Skyranger's arrive and deploy their deadly cargo of troops soon after the crash takes place. Unlike the last time, this would be no conventional breach. The Eliminators overhead blasted the outside of the ship with auto-cannon and micro-missile, creating a battered hole in the side of it. Immediately sniper rounds and mini-gun shells move to suppress the enemy forces present, but did little but scatter them. Fortunately, it seemed the aliens were shaken, and return fire was sporadic at best. A shock assault by the troops doled out significant casualties as the troops managed to close on the craft, and a final breach by the assault troops cleared out the aliens remaining troops with little issue, leaving a wealth of materials to work with. Finally, a solid victory.
No operatives lost or promoted! All enemies eliminated! Acquired 10 Meld, 45 Alloys, 23 Elerium and UFO Power Sources and Nav Computers.

NERV HQ, Terminal Dogma Entrance
This is a nice counterpoint to the assault on the NERV core. The alien's are more than ready for the primary assault team, and destroy the assault SHIVs and push them back easily enough. The Floaters show their worth as they rocket upwards and fire upon the team from above, scything down the projects veterans with ease. The rookies maintain admirable composure, and gun down the Sectoids and one of the remaining Thin Men teams, but despite pushing back the fire from two fronts takes down half of their remaining number. The remaining squad splits its attention, forcing the Floaters to jink with suppressive fire and managing to gun down the remaining Thin Men, before swiveling upwards and annihilating the Floaters. Just when they think they're done, however, from nowhere appear... floating mechanical squids would be the best description. Amazingly unperturbed by this, they wipe out the group of machines with little trouble, managing to pull the op back from the brink. The bomb isn't even set up properly, but they professionally disable it fully anyway.
All foes annihilated! Seekers discovered! One squad of basic Operatives lost! Both SHIVs lost! Those last rookies were fucking champs, you bet they're getting promoted! All veterans lost!

Wait...

What's this?

*Roll Roll*

*Really Good Rolls*

Don't Die On Me in effect!
Amazingly, about half of the veterans appear to be still alive through shear DETERMINATION. Med-Kits are quickly applied to these hardy survivors, and although they'll need serious medical attention, they'll be back on their feet in no time.
One squad of veterans reconstituted! Will not be able to act next week from critical injuries! This is why XCOM is so bullshit as a faction!

It is then, of course, that your men still on their feet turn their attention to the elephant in the room. Or, more accurately, the crucified Angel. As the helmet cams are trained on the bisected beast, the reactions in the Mission Control room are a mixture of shock, surprise, awe, and what must have been the grim look of a shit-shoveler who thinks he's gotten to the bottom of a pile of shit but realizes that no, he's only just begun on this sordid mess. You and the Power Trio (hmm, you idly note you approve of that name) is mostly the latter. You yourself just put your head in your hands. You thought you might have finally had a handle on this whole situation. In hindsight, it isn't truly so surprising. You knew that presumably the Angels and definitely the Evangellions were created from a dead creature called Adam, so is it so surprising NERV has such a creature in their basement? You're guessing this isn't Adam, as a corpse was previously mentioned and you don't need to keep a spear in a corpse generally. This raises so many questions about the Angels and NERV and gives frustratingly few answers. Shen whispers your troops could reassemble the bomb should you so wish, but you feel that will just create more questions even if it helps. For all you know destroying this thing will unleash a legion of super-angels. You rub your temples some more. Dammit, you're getting too old for this. No, you are too old for this.
What do you do about the massive Angel in Terminal Dogma?
Basic options:
[] Confront Gendo
[] Blow it up
[] Set up base and study it
Or some variation or combination. The more detail the better, especially for confronting. This could significantly alter how this game goes forwards.

Also, to answer some questions you'll be getting an interlude! Pick from your enemies below:
[] SEELE (Human Instrumentality Committee)
[] Aliens (Temple Ship)

_______________________________________________________________________________________
No no. I mean like, how will having something like Lasers or medkits effect the rolls?
That's up to me. Combat power is just an abstraction. A useful abstraction, but an abstraction never the less. Just trust it is helping noticeably.

Bombs wouldn't help by being researched, they're just over-sized alien grenades really..

Just a guess of what the interludes might be like...
[] SEELE (Human Instrumentality Committee)
"NOT IN THE SCROLLLLSSS"
or "X-Com knows. We must get on the council."
"Also, aliens are such a pain. We'll extra genocide them when we tang humanity."

[] Aliens (Temple Ship)
"How they'd pull that off?"
"X-Com's the only threat. We must find them."
"OUR ENEMIES THE FOREIGN ONES HAVE BEEN BEATEN BY THESE PRIMITIVES? IMPOSSSIBBBLLLEEE"

Idk. This is kinda AU after all. Good news is the Angel Attacks are spread out, so we'll find out how much they care about NERV if they try to invade during/after/right before the next Angel attack.

I'll give you a hint because I'm feeling generous.

SEELE: Not as planned!
Aliens: Exactly. As. Planned.

Also in regards to the SEELE Super Soldier strength, while I'll tell you a bit about your own research, abilities and how to get them if requested, your enemies strengths remain under lock and key until you encounter them IC.

Well then, I wonder if the Aliens plans are to avoid Third Impact...

Hmmmmmm. Wow this works really well actually thematically wise. ALL THESE HIDDEN MOTIVES!

Right now I'm thinking we should...
Confront Gendo + Build a Base.
The aliens clearly want to either destroy this, or stop humanity's efforts to fight the Angels. Which means we need X-Com here to deal with the X-Rays. But then whats with all this GENDO?

Thoughts fellow questors?

Congrats to Traveler7, for getting us our first (relatively intact) UFO! Lost a vet, but we also gained one, so that's balancing out for now. Hm, plans...

[X] Confront Gendo
-[X] Why the hell is there an angel under your base?
-[X] Due to the alien threat that has imposed itself upon you, XCOM will be contributing to the defense of NERV
--[X] (If he attempts to refuse) I am not asking for your permission, Commander Ikari.
--[X] (If he 'graciously' accepts) <don't act surprised, be polite>
[X] Set up base and study it

Let's get our foot in the door!

[X] Aliens (Temple Ship)

I'm a little torn between this and SEELE, but in the end I decided that, even though they SHOULD be XCOM's main antagonists, the Aliens are currently pretty out of focus for us. Let's give them some time in the limelight!

[X] SEELE

Changed to these guys, because watching them suffer a villainous break down sounds so satisfying.

....My plan worked?

...My plan, really, actually WORKED?! I'm...I'm so happy. I don't know whether to cry from joy or dance with it.

Uhm. As for what to do next, your plan sounds good though, like you, i'm torn on the interludes. Much as i'm curious about the aliens things going Exactly As Planned, I kind of want to see SEELE freaking out and going batshit over this happening. However, this may, almost certainly will, bring up our time table from taking out SEELE in a few turns to taking them out IMMEDIATELY. Seeing their interlude would let us have a heads up OOC on what they're going to do and the like. For the aliens, presumably, their plans are unchanged since things are going very well for them.

Swapped to SEELE! Feel free to keep coming up with plans, most quests usually end up with two guys who balance each-other out. Options can be a good thing!

Happy to help out sir! And so far we appear to be doing a great job on this thing! I mean, our men are dying horribly, quite a lot really, and we've lost quite a lot of ravens, but overall, our objectives are proving successful!

Villainous breakdown, and to have a hint on just what they're going to do to us because of this.

As fun as blowing up Lilith sounds, that would probably less optimal in the long run. Besides, we can always destroy it after we take over NERV.
