The Restless Dead Want YOU To Fight Necromancy

Let's be Honest and not a sociopath!

[X]"Thank you, but I think I'd prefer the guns."

We're not gonna lie to the kid. But we can be reassuring, make a little joke (she knows we're a vampire) and maybe help her out a bit WITHOUT lying. So let's o that.

Speaking of, we've been doing really awfully. I mean, it IS daytime, yeah, and we just got woken up out of an uncomfortable sleep, but come on, we can do better than we've been doing. Or McClellan is going to put a stake through us or something else unsavory.

On the other hand, we need to be better with weapons.

Including Guns.
Also, this very nice nurse that is being sensible and is needed to help fight the zombies (harder to do with blood loss) is in a state of sort of questionable consent. Let's not chew on her right now, mmmkay?

We're not really in such a good position that we can just not take freely offered blood.

We have someone literally offering us blood, since we don't have access to a blood bank right now and are low on blood it would be stupid not to take this opportunity.

Folks who are only voting for one decision, not the others, is that because you're abstaining or because the other questions got lost in the narrative? I'm going to treat it as abstaining, but I'd rather make sure.

8:00 AM (Day)

Willpower: 2/4 (strained)
Hunger: 11.3/30 (very hungry)
Power: 4.1

"Thank you, but I think I'd prefer the guns."

You put your phone in her offering hand, and let her chatter with her children and husband wash over you. You need to think.

Something you said in your conversation with Kathy is sticking in your mind. You need to plan for the long haul, you said, but that has implications. That is putting this on the same scale as the Black Death, the sort of plague that crashes empires like sandcastles dissolving as the tide comes in. That means you need to stop thinking about the victim in front of you, distracting though they may be, and think about the big picture.

The larger big picture is easy. There's a necromancer in the South somewhere, and whoever was destined to stab him in the neck isn't doing their job. You need to either do it yourself or arrange for it to get done. There is a zombie plague, and you need to see what rituals you can come up with to address it, both to cure those in transition as you promised and to protect the living.

You try to be a good, civilized person, no matter your race or circumstances. You can slide through life, wiping yourself from the minds of your victims, but that's not living. That's just being an average vampire, and the average vampire is an asshole. That's why you don't socialize with vampires.

There is a pragmatic angle to this, however, that you can't ignore in your planning. In order to not starve into torpor and madness once more, you need a minimum of more than 168 healthy living humans or more than 7 blood bonded. The minimum would keep you, but wouldn't account for errands, injury, illness, or a severe case of the grumpies. That's not even counting how many humans you need alive in order to make more humans, the math of which you don't have in your head. A diet of animal blood would be technically possible, but involve absolutely no going out to the theatre or concerts, and it cripples magical talent. You love magic.

Your goals are simple:
  1. Ensure that necromancer is made deeply sorry and then deeply dead.
  2. Ensure a food supply in the coming days.
  3. Rescue enough people that the apocalypse doesn't completely destroy your social life.
  4. Survive.
  5. Oh, and two other things:
[]You want to be king, baby. Or queen. The point is, the world is your oyster, and you're going to rule it.
[]You have people you're responsible for. You're going to find them, protect them, and keep them safe.
[]You want to preserve democracy. You're actually very fond of the American Experiment.
[]Minions. Lots and lots of minions.
[]Loot. Lots and lots of loot.
[]Altruism: you've secretly always wanted a chance to be a knight in shining armor. You're going to save the world.
[]You slept through the entirety of the technological revolution of the 20th century and now you're supposed to go back to candles? No, thank you. You're going to make sure none of that knowledge is lost.
[]Write-in

With that in mind, you need to make one decision now. You can't make any further plans without it.

[]You'll stay here, where you have wards and some contacts, and do what you can.
[]You'll head south, and try to deal with the problem at the source.
[]Write-in

Elena turns onto your street, which seems calm. You get out of the car just before the end of your driveway and walk slowly towards your house. At the property line, the red plastic bag in your hand hits an invisible wall, and you walk forward while it stays stuck hovering in place.

[]You invite the zombie head inside. You'll need it for rituals.
[]You leave the zombie head outside. It's not like it can wander off.

If we invite the zombie head inside, other zombies might be able to get in. Not worth it IMO, we can do stuff outside if need be.

Without clarification, I'm pretty sure invitations don't like, extend to every other zombie, or even every zombie raised at the same time as this one? That would be a major change from invitation rules.

The only thing I can see is it letting the body or something in, theoretically.

I like that we're all like "Yeah, let's save technology."
Also, we like this nice NE town, and we have a base here already.

@Wysteria, can we invite Just The Head inside?

Yes, the invitation is head-specfic.

I actually had meant the ruler option as implying city-state, not Empire, but I get how that would be unclear.

Let's be fair, it's a very nice little town!

Modified vote after QM's explanation.
So, we have a nice corner here. Let's build here and work out from that.
Maybe a really, really, really big ritual circle of protection around the county?

Can we do rituals on the water? 'cause that might be an - OH I KNOW.
Those floaty bits they have in pools. Coat them in ruins and float them over the water!!
