The Quest For Earth (CMGQ spinoff)

"Oh no, oh no...." Quickly grasping the younger girl around the waist, Shan dragged her onto dry land. Having turned her around, Ellen continued spewing water into a rivulet that ran back into the pond. "What were you thinking?" she asked softly while holding Ellen's hair, worry overtaking any anger she may have felt for the time being.
"Hi Shan, turns out I got water holes. Sink fast." Ellen kind-of-gurgled. "I need to stop listening to Big Sis about poking everything new the instant I notice it. Sinking is not fun."

She took a moment to 'observe' her new 'internal compartments' using the not-sense to track the slowly draining water. "I should be good in a minute. Takes less time to fill me up than it does to empty apparently."

Shan barely managed to suppress a sigh. Her worry flipped to exasperation about Ellen's flippancy. But if she wanted to play it off like nothing, oh well. Two could play that game. So she quipped back: "As if that was anything new to you."

She could stand delaying her meal if it meant helping out in a worrying situation. Which reminded her to check on Alice and see how her friend was doing.

A cursory look around the campsite reveals no immediate trace of Alice, until the creepy cat made of shadows slips out of the shade cast by the spires or the crude shelter. It struts over to an unoccupied corner of the camp and silently motions as though hocking up a furball. After about a minute of this, Grinning Remnant suddenly leaps up into the air, opens its mouth impossibly wide, and spits out Twilight Wanderer, who lands on the ground with a smirk.

"I've grown stronger, it seems. About damn time, really. Who knew that not being dead really helped you grow stronger, eh?"

"Did you grow too, Cici?" Alice asked with a smirk. "I can't wait to see what you can do to whatever little beastie gets in our way!"

Gee, thanks for pulling me out of the water—my empty head was almost filled for once! Marissa snarked in the safety of her mind. The anchor girl didn't look any worse for wear, at least. Leaving the pair to their friendly ribbing, Marissa redonned her discarded clothing.

Marissa paused from twisting the water from her hair. Shan's magic today, Twilight Wanderer, and even her own spell yesterday after eight months of stasis.

...It was a coincidence. The other girls likely had a much faster growth curve than her, and the timing happened to line up. They couldn't only grow from combat. That would be too cruel.

Cheshire went and stretched herself out a bit, not really used to camping at all, much else without a bed or sleeping bag or any of the modern comforts she so enjoyed. Something felt...different, though she couldn't quite tell how.

She found a nearby tree, and after checking it to make sure no animals were using it as a nest or anything, used it as a practice target. Her blows were stronger, and seemed faster, but her spell didn't seem to have changed. After hearing about the changed the other girls were experiencing, she decided to check on her own teleportation ability. To her own pleasant surprise, she found that she no longer had to wait between teleports. She could pop around without the slight delay she had grown accustomed to.

With a smirk, she thought to herself 'This is definitely going to be useful.'

Sam blushed after hearing Ellen's words and Shan's reply. Just where did they come from? It sound like a hellish place to live in!

"C-can we get a move on?" she huffed as she tried to rub her blush away with a hand. "We should dry you both up..."

Looking around, Sam saw Winter Lion's conjured coats that they used as blankets scattered on the ground. "Hey Lion, how good are your coat as a towel?"
