The Outer Dimension Offensive Reloaded!

Seeing one of the demons attach itself to another, Solus quickly diverts course to prevent it from doing whatever it does. The formation shifts with him, quickly slicing the pair to bloody ribbons.

Their unattached constructs are less fortunate, but they buy them time. Solus stabs the Husk coming at them with Ash, not even stopping to point Ember forward.

"Focus on that flier!" he commands, already moving to catch the beast before it can take off. Ember's bloody edge is held ready to strike.

Ash attack against Husk B, Phalanx (and Ember attack) aims for the Latchwing.

Lorena doesn't waste another second as her Wardens fall along with their foes, two more of her constructs manifesting out of thin air from beneath the remaining Husks, demonic bodies grappled to the dry earth, a prophetic prelude of their coming fate. Meanwhile, the Wardens besides Solus move in tandem with him to crush the last remaining Latchwing, blades poised to strike as eye sockets filled with blue fire hungrily gazed at the creature.

Actions:
- Lorena summons Grave Warden C & D to grapple Husk A & B
- Grave Warden A Attacks Symbiotic Latchwing: 50 + 250 + 50 + 500 = 850
- Grave Warden B Attacks Symbiotic Latchwing: 50 + 250 + 50 + 500 = 850

Combat 2 end New
One of the Husks lets out a hungry roar as the battle continues before Solid and the Grave Wardens strike again.

Demons cannot roll high enough to damage the phalanx, demons cannot roll high enough to survive the phalanx.

WIth the Husks restrained by newly summoned Wardens, and the Latchwing dazed from slamming into a shield, the next few seconds can only be described as an execution. Afterward, the area falls silent at last, and Gladys sees the red pillar of light disappear.

As team FORGE regroups, the magically gifted among them can feel one of Rift Diver's portals opening nearby, and about half a minute later she walks into the clearing, followed by one of War Forger's builder squads.

"Good job, now get the watch post built built you lazy bums." She orders the builders, who start working on a small fortification.

"So how was it, any surprises?"

The second surge goes off without a hitch. Solus's lips twitch up in a faint smile as he lets the heat dissipate. The flames flickering over his weapons fade from view.

He quickly produces a clean cloth to wipe the blood off, listening for any further battle in the distance. From the lack of gunfire, he takes it the other team was successful.

"Good work," Solus then says to Lorena, pleasantly surprised that she did follow his lead.

Lorena surveyed the results of their battle, extremely pleased with herself and the rest of the team if her smug expression was anything to go by. "Feel free to shower me with more praise," the nobleborn soldier spoke in reply, posing dramatically with one hand on her hip and the back of her other hand on her forehead, head tilted up for dramatic effect.

"The demons may have somehow brought the once extinct latchwing back from the dead, but such base creatures were no match for our combined might!" The mage all but preened at Rift Diver's query, her skeletal companions clapping with their bony hands to congratulate their mistress on a job well done.

Rift Diver gives Lorena *a look* before rolling her eyes.

"The hell's a Latchwing?"

This, as well as the following bits make certain that Solus tellingly says no more at all. Suppressing a sigh, he turns and walks away to see how War Forger's constructs work.

As Solus and whoever else is paying attention watch, the builder squad marches into the center of the clearing and starts to dig. When the hole is deep enough, a log appears on the ground before being lifted and lowered into the hole, the loose dirt then being shoveled around the log and tamped down.

After that, the squad splits in half. One group builds a scaffold beside the log and starts working on a simple platform and support struts, while the other half digs two squares around the watchtower. Small notched posts are driven into the ground on the outer square, after which another set of posts with notches and spiked ends are driven into the inner square at an angle, and laid on the outer wall.

Wooden nails, rope, and some kind of resin are used to secure the two sets of posts together. After that, the leftover dirt is spread around and tamped down again while two members of the other half of the squad dismantle the scaffolding used to build the raised platform. The last builder then drops a rope ladder and climbs down.

As the squad reassembles, an archer construct pops into existence stop the tower. The whole build takes maybe 20 seconds to complete, and all tools and materials for it appear and disappear from the Construct's hands as needed.

Were she to look at it, Gladys would get the feeling she can order one of the Militia squads to do something with the Watchtower. Though what that is isn't entirely clear.

Gladys gives a brief salute to Rift Diver before speaking up. "It appears the Latchwings, unfamiliar as they are, were in fact the only surprise. War Forger's constructs performed admirably in a Phalanx."
Mob and Esprit De Corps interaction proc'd. Gladys donates 10 of her experience to the two squads.
Militia Squad 1: 9/10 exp -> 14/10 exp to next level.
Militia Squad 1: 9/10 exp -> 14/10 exp to next level.

Gladys: 18-10 = 8 Exp Gained, see Experience Breakdown on character sheet post for more details

The efforts of the builders additionally catch her eye, the new watchpost and it's archer construct coming into existence in less than half a minute. The construction constructs did their work well. Something about it though... It was a watchpost? What would happen if she assigned some Militia to manning it? "Militia Squad 1, please man the Watchpost. Squad 2, remain with me."

As Gladys watches the Builders work she gets the feeling of something being pulled within her. The feeling passes swiftly, and when it ends something draws her attention to the constructs. They don't look any different, but new power flowing into the Phalanx confirms it, the constructs are stronger than before.
Militia Squad 1:
EXP: 14/10 -> 4/20
Level 1/5 -> 2/5
Health: 50 -> 70
Base Damage: 10 -> 20
Base Resilience: 10 -> 5
Militia Squad 1 can now be named!

Militia Squad 2:
EXP: 14/10 -> 4/20
Level 1/5 -> 2/5
Health: 50 -> 70
Base Damage: 10 -> 20
Base Resilience: 10 -> 5
Militia Squad 2 can now be named!

The constructs break from the formation and walk into the Outpost. As the last construct enters, Gladys feels the squad become anchored to the location. They'll probably stick around and defend it unless ordered otherwise.

Unit Veterancy: By fighting hard and surviving long enough War Forger's units can level up, gaining increased stats and occasionally new abilities. Some technologies and units also require a type of unit achieve a certain level to unlock. Veterancy is not lost if a unit takes casualties.

Garrison: Certain structures have space for units to fight from inside them, and sometimes gain extra functionality from or require it. As a rule, units inside a structure with Garrison are treated as having it's Resilience stat unless the unit's is higher. Damage dealt to the structure may also be transferred to garrisoned units with some exceptions, and vice versa.
