You speak in runes and tongues as if that is supposed to impress me, little rowboat.
I was born before Time and Sound and Life and Death. I was born in the Timeless Halls before the dawn of the universe, born from the Mind of Eru, the One. I walked with He-Who-Arises-In-Might, I sparred with Lucifer Morningstar in the emptiness of the Void before Time.
When Illuvatar called, I raised my voice in song and sung the Music that shaped the world, the Suns, the stars. I sung of what has been, I sung of what will be. I sung of the Fog, of Destiny and it's Children. I sung of the Emperor and his Sons, I sung of Kings and Gods.
And when Melkor and Lucifer raised their Voices in the Discord, when they wove the theme of Chaos into the Music of the World, I sung that song, too--I sung of lust and wrath and deceit and entropy, of ice and fire and hunger and fear. I sung the Star-Gods into being, sung of the fall of the Eldar and the Heresy to come. I sung of Trigon, born to eat all worlds. I sung Evil into being, and all the worlds of all the universes rued that day.
You would speak to me of fear, of eldritch things writhing in the Beyond? I am Mairon, older than the Oldest Ones, older than the worlds and the stars.
I do not fear what lies in the dark.
I
am the dark.
