Chapter 153: Siege of Tokyo
Chapter 153: Siege of Tokyo

That fucking emperor!!!

He promised me that he would liberate us from this crisis and protect the people when he appointed me as his prime minister!!! And what did he do instead? He turns into a full blown dictator! My words no longer matter now. I wonder what my role actually is at this point.

At the rate he's forcing the people to work for military logistics and executing them when they either refused or can't work anymore, he's gonna kill us all long before the Occult Killer comes!

And I know that the Occult Killer is a walking nuclear bomb... but he must be using the Occult Killer as an excuse to achieve that reunification he so desired, blowing a single serial killer's threat out of proportion for his political interests. His preparation is excessive! Even a walking nuclear bomb has his limits! There's no reason to oppress the people for it! There's got to be some other way!

I bet he's actually preparing to go to war with other country with the military power he's amassing right now!

The one week threat that the serial killer issued with that fancy hologram is fast approaching and I need to do something about this. I need to kill that old emperor. That's why I hired an assassin to kill him. Naturally I hired an outsider to do the job. Said outsider is an awakener so it should be an easy job to kill a mere old man.

It's supposed to be easy… but he summoned me today. I have a bad feeling about this.

As I entered the throne room of the imperial palace (which is finally being used after he's done hiding in the shadows) I see him sitting in the throne with his usual scowl, the face of a man with so much hatred and distrust for the world he wants to conquer… and beside him is the head of the assassin I sent to kill him impaled on a stake. His guards, clad in black military uniform with the gold chrysanthemum crests etched on them, stood guard beside him. They look strong and intimidating. I bet they are awakeners too.

I tried my best to hide my surprise by keeping a neutral expression, a challenging task even for a politician like me, as I bowed before the emperor.

"I greet his majesty Akuto, the Emperor of Japan." I say as I keep my head low in an attempt to hide my face and avoid showing any hint of emotion.

"Prime Minster Shibuki. You don't look so well."

"I-I am perfectly fine, your majesty."

"Does the sight of this assassin's head bother you, Shibuki?"

"N-No, your majesty. Though I am… curious as to whom that man is…"

"Really? You don't recognize him?" The emperor asked with a gentle tone while exuding pressure. He definitely suspects me!

"No… I don't…"

"This man sneaked into the imperial palace and tried to kill me last night. And as you can see, he's dead. The one who sent this assassin should be punished severely, don't you think?"

"I-I agree, your majesty."

"Will you do the honors then, Shibuki?"

"A pardon, your majesty?"

"Will you execute the one who sent the assassin yourself if I order you?"

"Y-Yes. Absolutely."

"Then do it. Right now." He says as he stood up from his throne as tossed something to me. Said object fell on the floor right beside me with a metallic sound. It's a wakizashi. With my head bowed down, I can see the blade gleaming clearly right before my eyes. He's telling me to commit seppuku!

"You know what to do." He says… although his voice came from behind me instead of from the throne. When did he…?

I look up and see no one sitting or standing in the throne and when I look back, I see him standing behind me with a katana in his hand.

"What's wrong, Shibuki? You know what to do, right? It's not like the next generation has forgotten about this old tradition." He says with that permanent scowl in his face.

"You didn't think I wouldn't know about your little scheme, did you? It was obvious who sent that little assassin to kill me. You have outlived your usefulness when you failed to pacify the crowd of foolish people but now you decide to turn traitor. As always, the youngsters never fail to disappoint me."

"How could I not? When I saw what you did to the people?" I reply defiantly, finally no longer hiding my emotions and exposing my hatred of him.

"I did what was necessary to do what you could not."

"But oppressing and killing the people!? How is that necessary!?"

"It was ABSOLUTELY necessary! There would be chaos if I didn't do that! And foolish youngsters like you will never understand. Now enough arguments! Proceed with your execution." He says while pointing his katana to me. I turn back to pick up the wakizashi on the floor. But instead of stabbing myself with it, I turn back to him, intending to stab him with it. There's no way even the awakener guards who stood far away beside the throne could react to this! Even if I die, I must finish what I sta—

"Admirable effort. But futile. If only you used this courage in MY service instead of against me. What a waste." The emperor mockingly says as he held the blade between two fingers. Despite him only using two fingers, I couldn't move the blade at all.

"You… You're an awakener!?" I ask in disbelief.

"I am more than an awakener. I am a god in human form."

"You… You're actually doing that…? Deifying yourself?"

"I am he who will save all of mankind from extinction. Of course I have to be divine."

"You… I can't believe it. You're delusional!"

"Delusional? I've always been realistic and pragmatic. You're the delusional one if you think fancy words can stop the people from rioting. I did what I did in order to save them from themselves."

"Tch! Arguing with a heartless monster like you will get us nowhere. Fine! Just kill me! I'll be waiting for you in the afterlife, which won't be a long wait." I say with a smirk. Even if he survives the Occult Killer's attack, he won't last long with how old he is.

"That's where you're wrong, Shibuki. As a demigod, I shall live forever. Not even the Occult Killer can end me." He says something ominous as he plunged his katana into my heart. Then I see him smile… no… grin for the first time.

"And I'll have so many poor people to thank for giving me immortality." He whispers with a sickening grin that only a demon would wear, obviously taking pleasure in my death.

He… he sacrificed people's lives to extend his own? How? When? Who? How many? What…?

I can't believe this… I absolutely can't believe this… Under the rule of this devil, Japan is doomed. And I have been powerless to stop it the whole time… Forgive me… everyone…

With his sickening grin as the last thing I see, I close my eyes and allow death to take me.

I stood in the walls of Tokyo alongside other fighters from Akihabara. We stood out because of how colourful our costumes are, how we look like a group of cosplayers while everyone else are dressed either in military uniforms or in bodysuits… or in traditional Shinto or Buddhist monk robes… though there are other outliers such as the Kamen Rider faction who unexpectedly joined us.

One week has passed… and as promised, The Occult Killer brought his army to attack Tokyo. Tokyo's defenders consist of more than just the imperial forces but also fighters from various factions who answered the emperor's call to arms, including the occultist faction.

As numerous as the defenders are, they are still shocked when they see the armies that the Occult Killer brought.

A small army of masked men clad in black robes, some riding on top of monsters, the expected Doomsday Cultists,

An army of monsters, which are again, expected,

An army of soldiers clad in white bodysuits from the Kyoto faction, which is also expected, although the three giant robots that stand near them are unexpected,

And finally… an army of zombies and skeletons, which are completely unexpected. The unexpected part is how the army of the undead easily outnumbers the rest of the armies that the Occult Killer brought and made up the majority of his forces. I saw them firsthand in the Doomsday Cult headquarters… but even I didn't expect this many. How… how many people he killed to create those armies…? Their sheer numbers allows them to completely encircle all of Tokyo, letting no one escape the city.

Well… with how the emperor treated the people, it's not like anyone could leave even without the invasion to worry about.

Kuzaya-kun told me that nowadays the prime minister is just a public speaker while the emperor is actually in charge. Now that the dangers escalated this much, the emperor was forced to step out of the shadows. What he did is… excessive but… there's nothing I could do about it. Not with the threat of the Occult Killer looming out there.

Regretfully, I must turn a blind eye to the suffering of the people for now. It's… frustrating. But I promise that once the Occult Killer is dealt with, I'll help depose that tyrannical emperor. I swear it.

"You weren't kidding when you say he have zombies." Akane-chan says as she approaches me, probably because she barely has friendly face in her own faction. That creep Saejima is certainly someone to avoid and the simps who worships her does not count.

"Yeah. But even I didn't expect him to have this many. It's like a zombie apocalypse…"

"Where… do you think he got them?" Akane asks with uneasy expression, even though she knows the answer.

"From the settlements he destroyed… most likely."

"So many people… And here I thought we wouldn't lose so many people now that we have magic." Akane grits her teeth and clenches her fist as she says that.

"I know. The battle today may decide the fate of Japan… perhaps even all of humanity."

"Fate of humanity… I… I thought I could handle being a hero in his memory… but…" Akane says. This is more difficult than I thought went unsaid.

"Do you think he's watching us, Akane? Your Stylish Bandit Slayer?"

"I believe so."

"Well… I happen to overhear that the one who beat the Kamen Rider faction into submission is someone who wears a balaclavas and wields two crowbars. He called himself the Stylish Bandit Slayer." I watch Akane's surprised reaction to this information, but she quickly subdued her reaction.

"No. That must be someone else using his name."

"You seem so sure of it, Akane."

"Yes… because I know he is dead."

"Is he… someone you knew?"

"Yes." Akane answers but refuses to elaborate. I suppose I can understand that given that I have my own secrets to hide.

As we are talking, we suddenly hear noises behind us with our enhanced hearing, noises… voices of many people… people who are protesting. Not now…. Not at a time like this!

"Akane-san! Mari-san!" One of the awakeners from Akihabara called out to the both of us but we ignored them and rushed to the source of the voices, the front gate of the imperial palace.

There we see a crowd of citizens of Tokyo protesting against the emperor's tyranny and accusing him of killing the prime minister and demanded that the emperor step down from his throne and abolish monarchy in favour of democracy.

Just before we could do anything to stop the people, the imperial palace gate opens and from the gate emerge a group of soldiers equipped with submachine guns.

"No!!" I shout but it's too late. The soldiers already opened fire against the people, slaughtering most of them. They did not chase the ones running away though, most likely so they can live to tell the tale.

The emperor emerges from behind the soldiers. He notices us and smirks smugly.

"Mari Blue of Akihabara and Nishino Akane of Messiah. What you're witnessing is an example of what happens to those who oppose me." The emperor says.

"Why…? There's no need to…" Akane trembles angrily and glares at him as she says that.

"It was absolutely necessary to destroy traitors without mercy lest they multiply like insects!"

"Insects? That's what your people are to you?" I ask him with a glare too.

"You youngsters will never understand. You are too naïve to tell me what to do. Now go back to the front lines and--" His words are cut as he noticed the pile of corpses twitching.

"What the…" The soldiers mutters as we all witness the corpses rise back from the dead and jumps towards them, biting them.

"Shoot! Shoot them all!" The emperor barks his orders but the zombies are fast and numerous, biting the soldiers one by one and ignoring the wounds they get from the guns. The bitten soldiers also join the ranks of the undead quickly and turn against the emperor just as quickly. But the emperor unsheathes his katana and fought back with strength none of us expected from an old man. It is unexpected that a politician turns himself into an awakener. He quickly dispatched the zombies attacking him but was unable to stop the ones running towards the city and the imperial palace.

"You two! Help me!" He commands us to help him with dispatching the zombies, and judging from the direction he's facing, he must have meant in the imperial palace, not the city. As he has demonstrated time and time again, he does not care about the people.

"Do you see now, your majesty? The result of your own action? You knew from my report that our enemy has the ability to create zombies… and yet here you are, providing him with more corpses. Because of you, our enemies have multiplied like insects. Who's the naïve one here, exactly?" I say with a smirk.

"Shut up! Do not question me! You are a citizen of the Empire of Japan! You must obey ME!!!"

"We are members of our factions first and foremost. We are here for an alliance, not because we are joining your faction. We are under no obligation to obey you." Akane replies.

"You… Daughter of the Nishino! I understand that my son hasn't been good to you! If you join me, I'll cancel your engagement with him!"

"I don't care about that anymore, scum. There are other things that concern me more than your silly politics."

"And what's that supposed to be, you worthless whore!?"

"Our enemy, the Occult Killer." Akane replies. It's good that she no longer allow the politics of her family to distract her from her purpose anymore. I smile at her as I hold her hand in mine as if in congratulations. Seeing as he cannot convince her, the emperor turns to me.

"You! Mari Blue! If you help me, I shall help you reconcile with your father!" The emperor says. I can only laugh at the ridiculousness of his offer.

"Why would I want to reconcile with my father? I hate him. You're so silly, your majesty." I say with a sarcastic chuckle.

"You witch!"

"Heh. That's appropriate. Because I am a Mystic Witch!" I say as I make my signature magical girl pose, which weirds him out judging from his hanging jaw.

"Stupid useless disobedient youngsters… Fine! I name you both traitors and I'll have your factions execute you both when we're done with this invasion!" The emperor barks his threat as he ran alone to the imperial palace, no doubt only caring about his home and not his people.

"We need to protect the people, Akane-chan."

"Agreed."

We both rush to the opposite direction, to do what the emperor refused to do, which is protecting the people.

Author's Note:

The Invasion of Tokyo starts and the emperor continues acting more and more like a villain despite the crisis, which will no doubt lead to his undoing.

Auxiliary Chapter: Light at Tunnel's End

The morale of Shadow Garden is at an all time low. The unthinkable happened. Their master, Lord Shadow, has been banished by Necromancer to another realm. Of course he isn't dead but he is still out of reach. And it all happened right in front of the Seven Shades. They were powerless to prevent it.

Of course the Seven Shades never shared the terrible news to the other members but they can read the Seven's (well… only six now) mood and deduced that something must've happened. Alpha's absence being a glaring example.

Beta locked herself in her room, at times refusing to eat any meals brought to her. It's not rare for her to lock herself in her room but this time she didn't do it in order to write her novels. This time she locks herself in her room to cry and curse her uselessness. The nightmares that she often see every night during her early days in Shadow Garden started to resurface with the absence of her lord and savior.

Gamma, normally busy with her work at Mitsugoshi, can only sit in her desk, with mountain of paperwork that went untouched. She missed her scheduled public appearances, which forced her subordinates to run damage control.

Delta never returned to any Mitsugoshi branches, remote Shadow Garden bases or even Alexandria. One can only imagine her mood when they see her right now. None of the Numbers dared to search for her, even her direct subordinates.

Epsilon is reported to have lost weight as she no longer bothers to disguise her body shape with either her shapeshifting ability or with her smile suit. She could barely bring herself to touch the piano, which she usually plays in order to lighten herself up.

Zeta and Eta are also nowhere to be seen. Many of the numbers are worried that without Alpha keeping Eta in check, Eta may do something brazen, though something like that hasn't happened yet to their relief.

"This is such a heavy atmosphere." Chi mutters as she sips her coffee, unable to fiully enjoy the taste in such circumstances. Sitting with her in the Mitsugoshi breakroom with a cup of coffee in their hands are Nu, Omega and Lambda.

"This is what happens when we lost our leaders I suppose. Not only Lord Shadow but Lady Alpha as well…" Lambda says as she didn't even bother drinking.

"Is there… any hope for us?" Omega asks her comrades, dropping her usual laidback attitude which usually irritates both Chi and Lambda.

"Without Lord Shadow… everything is already lost. But we lost even Lady Alpha and Lord Claude." Nu mutters with a frown.

"Heh. You're still calling him Lord Claude. Do you admire him that much, Nu?" Omega tries to lighten the mood a bit by teasing Nu, who interacted with Claude Normann the most out of any Shadow Garden members, allowing her to see why Lord Shadow considers him a valuable ally and asset to their cause.

"He is a reliable ally after all. Even Lord Shadow considers him a friend. That's not something that can be taken lightly." Nu replies, as serious and immovable as ever.

"Well… I suppose I can understand that. Even just hearing about him gives the image that he's a good leader. If Lord Shadow didn't exist, I suppose I would've liked to work under him." Omega gave her honest opinion about the man.

"His rise to power is a bit… too quick, in my opinion." Lambda says, still not touching her cup of coffee, which is already cold.

"What do you mean, Lambda?" Asks Chi, who doesn't know Claude Normann very much.

"From the reports I gathered, he was favoured by many nobles in the kingdom long before King Klaus' demise. Even the Prime Minister has high opinion of him. That's the main cause for his engagement with Princess Iris. I dismissed it because the nobles who supported him weren't affiliated with the Thirteen Night Blades. But when King Klaus died, those very same nobles were quick to denounce Iris Midgar, not defending her as the Thirteen Night Blades faction openly called her incompetent and unworthy to succeed her father as the reigning monarch of Midgar. Of course they reached a compromise with her by allowing her to marry Claude Normann as she is still a royalty… but instead of the Crown Princess, they still supported him to sit on the throne. I find that very strange for Midgar, whose royalty has strong ties to the hero Freya." Lambda explains the sequence of events that lead up to Claude Normann's suspicious rise to power.

"That's… awfully similar to the plans that Perv Asshat have for Rose Oriana, before Necromancer got involved." Chi makes her conclusion as she is quite familiar with the circumstances at Oriana more than Midgar as she often worked with her direct superior, Epsilon, in Oriana.

"What if… he's actually… affiliated with the Cult… like Perv Asshat is? What if that's the reason even Necromancer never goes against his family despite being based in Everick and having his most trusted subordinate being the Knight Captain there…? What if… his disappearance was planned?" Omega makes her hypothesis, which is a horrifying thought to the four of them.

"As horrifying as that though is, I still believe in him. He and his family have worked hard against the Cult. Even his sister joined our cause. After all, Lord Shadow wouldn't choose his allies lightly." Nu replies, still having faith in her leader and his chosen ally.

"As usual, you're still defending him, almost as if you're in love with him!" Omega teased again, this time manages to make Nu frown at her.

"Say what you want. I simply have faith in them both. And I still have faith that they will return." Nu responds, not even denying her crush on Claude, which earns her a light chuckle from Omega.

"Hm. Still, we need to consider that possibility. Now… if only the Seven Shades would respond to--" Lambda's words are cut as they hear a crashing sound and a scream, which belongs to Gamma. The four of them rose up from their seats and immediately rushes towards Gamma's room.

As they went closer to Gamma's office, they notice that the scream wasn't a scream of horror but of excitement, something they have heard back when Don Jon met his demise at the hands of Shadow in his John Smith disguise. Either she got good news or Gamma finally went insane. The possibility of the former lifted their spirits internally as they enter the office.

"Lady Gamma! We heard the screams. What's wrong!?" Nu, Gamma's direct subordinate, asks the question first. In response, Gamma turns her head slowly towards the door where all four of them and a few members of the Numbers stood with her bloodshot eyes and bleeding nose.

"Th-This… in my desk… sudden… Lord Sha… He… Hee hee hee hee." Gamma chuckles creepily, which creeps out even the fiendish instructor Lambda. Her dishevelled and pale appearance didn't help, in fact it made her look more and more like a ghost, or one of Necromancer's undead minion. The possibility of her going insane becomes higher and higher in their minds.

But they notice that in her hand she held out a card, a 3 of Spades. None of them but Nu, who is more intimate with the affairs in Midgar, knows what that means.

"Lord Shadow…?" Nu mutters and Gamma nodded, still with bloodshot eyes.

"Lord Shad… he… back…. Hee hee hee…" Gamma mutters once again, barely coherent, exhausted and famished but excited.

"Very well. I shall inform the other Shades too. But first, we need you to fix your appearance, Lady Gamma. Let's get you to the bath first, shall we? Then let's get you a nice warm meal." Nu suggested, to which Gamma responds with a nod.

Needless to say that Beta and Epsilon screamed excitedly like Gamma did when they hear the news. Epsilon even suddenly gains back her weight and voluptuous body, something which surprised many except her own direct subordinates.

With a single card, the mood in Shadow Garden was overturned. They now see light at the end of the tunnel.

A mountain of monster corpses lied on a forest near Midgar capital, as if an even worse monster went on a rampage and slaughtered them all. But the slaughterer didn't take even a bite of her kills. She just piles them up and left them to rot. No beast dared to approach or even attempt to scavenge her spoils, fearing that they would be the next prey.

The beast who gathered all the monster corpses stood at the top of the pile and howls to the moon. Her howls carry a hint of sadness which is noticed by a beastkin who decided to approach her, not afraid that she would kill him.

"Sara… Or should I say… Delta?" Adra calls out to his sister, though she didn't respond so he climbs the pile of corpses.

"Delta." He calls out to her once again as he stands behind her.

"Brother… Adra… Tell me. Is Delta weak?" Finally Delta responds weakly with sobs in between words.

"No. You're not weak at all, Delta. In fact, you're stronger than me." Adra replies honestly.

"Then why… can't Delta help… Boss?"

"Because… as strong as we are… there are just some people whose power are out of this world." Adra says as he walks to her side and sits beside her, which prompts her to sit as well.

"Can Delta… grow stronger? No matter how much Delta hunts… No matter how much Delta kills… Delta didn't become stronger."

"Well… how can you grow stronger if you didn't eat and rest?"

"Delta… Delta… is…" Her words are cut by a sound… a sound of rumbling stomach.

"Delta is hungry… Brother Adraaaaa!" Delta cries as she hugs Adra with weaker force than last time they met.

"Yes of course you are. Come with me. We're going to meet my mother and we're going to eat a lot!" Adra invites her to his mother's home.

"To mother Rieka!?" Delta shouts excitedly.

"Yes! To the best cook in the world!"

"Yaay! Delta will come!" Delta shouts excitedly as she rides on Adra's shoulder like a child. Adra was glad that he can lift her mood. Having her reunite with his mother is definitely a plus as his mother missed her too.

When they arrive at his mother's house, Delta is welcomed to a delicious meal which is also very nostalgic to her, which makes her very very happy and is able to temporarily forget everything that troubled her.

The Kingdom of Midgar is in chaos. Their future king, Claude Normann, went missing and the Thirteen Night Blades launched a rebellion, leading to a civil war. The Royals faction resisted as much as they could but the Thirteen Night Blades, backed up by the Cult, mainly from the Fenrir faction, managed to deal heavy damage and took some territories.

To defend her home, where some skirmishes are happening, Charlotte returned to Everick. Currently she is on break and she sits in the garden of Everick castle, reminiscing about her time together with her brother, Claude.

"Brother… for how long did you bear this burden? Why must you do everything by yourself?" Charlotte mutters quietly, cursing her inability to help her brilliant brother.

"I've lost contact with Shadow Garden… Midgar may be losing the civil war… Oriana already lost and will launch their invasion soon… What can I… what must I do…? I need more… I need more power…!"

"My lady. You have a guest." Her quiet muttering is interrupted by a butler who delivers news.

"Tell them I am in no mood for guests this time and send them away."

"But my lady… She is…"

"Who could this guest be… that you would insist on interrupting my private time?" Charlotte asks with anger in her voice.

"I-It's Sherry Barnett, your friend, my lady." When she hears the name, Charlotte's expression softens.

"Tell her to come here immediately." She orders and the butler obeys.

Few minutes later Sherry enters the garden and smiles at her. Before Sherry can utter even a single word, Charlotte is already there to hug her tightly, though she's being careful enough not to hurt her friend.

"Sherry… You… You came at a bad time…"

"N-No. It's precisely because it's a bad time that I have to come. I heard about what happened and… I-I was worried about you." Sherry replies in her usual nervous attitude.

"Thank you… Sherry. But… How did you even come here from Laugus? The kingdom is on a civil war and Everick is under attack and…"

"I have my ways." Sherry says without elaborating, and Charlotte didn't even question it as she trusted Sherry so much.

"Well… If you're looking for my brother… he's…"

"I came here to meet you, not him. I know what happened… that's why I was worried about you."

"You're not worried about him?"

"I have faith in him. He's… amazing. He won't lose to the Thirteen Night Blades!" Sherry says, having absolute faith in Claude Normann when even his sister began to have doubts and worries about him.

"You're right. I suppose I need to have some more faith in my brother. It's just that… It's frustrating that I can't help."

"I understand. Even I can't help him that much right now… but I must not give up! And you shouldn't too, Charlotte!"

"You're right. I must… I must grow stronger in order to help him!" Charlotte exclaims with a determined face. Sherry smiles in respond.

"Thank you, Sherry! You are indeed the best choice for my brother!" Charlotte says but gasps and covers her mouth with both hands as she realized what she said.

"Uhh… Sherry. About my brother… I… he… no. Forget about it." Charlotte is unable to bring up the topic of her brother's engagement to Iris as she knew Claude and Sherry love each other dearly.

"I know. He's engaged to Princess Iris, isn't he? For the sake of the kingdom it seems that it cannot be helped." Sherry says with a calm voice, hiding her true feelings.

"Sherry…"

"It's okay, Charlotte. It's okay." Sherry says as she hugs Charlotte who looks like she is about to cry.

"Charl… call me Charl. It's the name he always called me since childhood and I want you to do the same."

"Very well…. Charl. Also… I didn't come empty handed. I brought you a gift from Laugus."

Author's Note:

A glimpse at what happened in Midgar while Claude is on a vacation on earth and Cid having his own vacation in the 4th realm. Cid will obviously return soon. When will he return? We shall see.

Also, Happy 1 year anniversary for The Necromancer in Shadow! I know I released this chapter early as it is not yet 27th October but once I've written it, I can't wait to publish it! Not to mention I have a plan this weekend so I may not be able to write another chapter.

Chapter 154: Divine Serum
Chapter 154: Divine Serum

I rushed alongside Mari-chan to the city's evacuation shelter where the citizens of Tokyo are gathered… well… should be gathered. Instead they are scattered all around the city…and a zombie apocalypse is not to blame apparently, even though it certainly is present, spreading mayhem to city.

"What in the world…?" Mari-chan mutters quietly in disbelief at the situation.

"You there! What's going on!? Why aren't the people in the evacuation shelter!?" I called out to one of the soldier from the Japanese Self Defense Force (which thankfully sided more with the prime minister rather than the emperor, which makes them not part of the imperial forces) who's trying to protect the citizens from the zombies by firing at them, which didn't do much to stop them considering they kept moving no matter how many bullets pierced their flesh.

"Y-You're… the Savior!?" The soldier says whilst panicking.

"Answer me!"

"Y-Yes, ma'am!" He saluted at me before continuing. It seems that even in Tokyo my reputation precedes me. "The emperor's son and a bunch of thugs he hired took the evacuation shelter for themselves and barricaded the entrance! He forced the people, save for a few girls, out of the evacuation shelter!" That piece of shit!

"Why is he using the evacuation shelter meant for the people and not the imperial palace!?"

"I don't know! Honestly I thought he's just a piece of trash! And now our jobs get harder because of him!"

"Very well. We'll help. Just get the people to safety!" I say as both me and Mari-chan rushes towards the zombies.

I decapitate one of the zombies but its headless body still stood and try to choke me.

The thought that these creatures used to be people indeed terrifies me. But that's not what stuns me, surprisingly. I've probably been spoiled by those zombie movies and it made me treat these zombies the way I treat monsters… as threats instead of people. What surprises me most is their resilience! Seriously! This thing is headless and yet it's still choking me so strongly!

"Ugh!" I grunt as my neck is choked with surprising amount of force. It seems that the zombies gain enough strength to compete with awakeners after death even though they used to be normal civilians.

"Mari Blue Love Pure Beam!"

*BOOM*

A blue explosion flash behind the zombie, making it drop on the ground and no longer moving.

"Yes! It seems that the spell I developed is a success!" Mari exclaims as she strikes a winning pose.

"Mari! How did you--!?" My words are interrupted by another zombie attacking. This time I cut its feet off in order to stop it but to my surprise it still moves by crawling at me with its hands, ignoring its injuries.

"I'll explain later! For now, just cut off their limbs and I'll finish them off!" She says as she casts blue spells at the zombies with her new weapon, a wand with heart shaped blue gem at the tip.

So that's the result of her training with the elder monk Aragaki. She's now more and more like a magical girl, not to mention getting stronger... Whereas I…

"Akane-chan! Focus!" Her words snaps me out of my thoughts and I immediately turn to slash the limbs of a zombie who tried to attack me from behind. I mustn't let my thoughts distract me from this fight!

"HAAAA!!!"

It took us a while to clear the zombies from the city (with help from other fighters obviously). The battle has already started outside though, and the defenders worked as hard as they can to prevent the undead army outside from breaching the walls. Luckily the giant monster army and the three giant robots haven't made their moves yet and thus we need to bring the citizens to safety before they do.

To do that we need to claim the evacuation shelter from the shitty prince and his guards (who are apparently yakuza thugs instead of the imperial forces) so it can function the way it is intended to do.

The fact that he surrounds himself with yakuza thugs instead of the imperial forces, and even has to take shelter outside the imperial palace shows that he has fallen out of his father's favour, perhaps even disowned?

Anyway, as we approach the shelter, we hear the muffled voice of two thugs having a conversation behind the locked door.

"So… you know that guy who runs Akihabara? The guy who dressed like a funny animal thingy and owns that magical girl group?"

"That Kuzaya guy, isn't it? What about him?"

"You know… if you arrange the letters a bit, his name becomes Yakuza!"

"Seriously, bro? I thought his name came from Kazuya!"

"Me too, bro. At least until I recently heard us being called yakuza again and suddenly it just… clicks on my mind."

"I know what you mean."

"Come to think of it, isn't there another character named Kuzaya in this series? You know, that Count Kuzaya guy? He's even canon, unlike that other guy!"

"You're right! This fanfic's author must've forgotten and named one of his OCs the same as--"
The two tattooed thugs' conversation is interrupted as the door to the evacuation shelter's entrance is smashed open, revealing two female figures, which is us. The two thugs stood up from the chairs they were sitting on and tries to reach for the guns they hid within their pockets.

"Who the fu--" I punched him in the face before he can finish his swearing. Mari-chan punched the other one and they're both out for the count.

"Alright. Let's go in." I say as me, Mari-chan and a few other fighters from various factions behind us go in, ready to beat some yakuza thugs. We would not kill them, not out of morality, as we have killed people before, especially during the war against the Doomsday Cult, but because there's a possibility that the dead may rise as zombies, which we cannot afford to have right now. We just need to beat them unconscious, which is easy considering not all of the thugs are awakeners. And even If they are, they are still untrained brutes, not real capable fighters like us.

We beat some thugs but as we get deeper and deeper, we start noticing that the number of thugs, which is supposed to have increased the deeper we went, is decreasing instead. In fact, we actually expect some kind of alarm should've sounded right now and we should be surrounded by enemies already, but no. There's not many of them anymore. How sloppy, even for a bunch of thugs. Though thanks to that our advance went smoother than expected.

"Akane-chan. Look!" Mari-chan pointed out at a corps—no… an unconscious thug dropped on the floor.

"Someone else went ahead of us and beaten this thug before we came." One of the awakeners from Akihabara faction comments when he saw the bloody unconscious thug. When I inspect the thug, however, I noticed that the injury he suffered is from a blunt weapon… it's almost like…

"We need to go in quickly." I say as I rush in deeper into the shelter, passing through more unconscious thugs until we reached the deepest room where we hear the screams of a man.

"AAAGHH!!! PLEASE STOP!!! I'LL PAY WHATEVER IT TAKES! I'LL LEAVE THAT AKANE WHORE AND ALL OTHER WHORES ALONE!! JUST--" *POW* "AAAAAGHHH!!!!"

The voice belongs to that imperial prince Satoshi. Finally we found him. I rush to open the door and there I see Satoshi being bound on a chair and beaten to a bloody pulp and…

"I-It's Stylish-sama!!" One of the fighters following us, who happens to belong to the Kamen Rider faction, recognized the second person in the room.

"Mino… Stylish Bandit Slay--!?" There I see a man standing beside the prince, wielding a pair of bloody crowbars and wearing a balaclavas mask concealing his face… like he did… he also wore a standard bodysuit worn by most awakeners.

"No. You're not him." I frown as I know it in my heart that he can't be him. I know because… I know he's dead. I glare at the impostor hatefully, probably emitting some killing intent while I'm at it.

"Y-You're…?" He says nervously.

"Mask… take them off now!" I say as I point my sword at him, which intimidates him more.

"…" He silently relents and removes his mask. The face which is revealed to me is familiar… one of the faces I hated as much than prince Satoshi's.

"You… What are you doing here? And why are you…?" I ask the man, whom I recognize as the thug who once kidnapped me alongside Astaroth, the one who nearly raped me if Minoru-kun didn't rescue me back then.

"S-Savior-sama. I…" He didn't dare call me by name and shows remorse and shame for his past action. But I still don't trust him. How could I? After being subjected to such horrors that reawakens my past trauma?

"Speak!"

"A-Alright, Savior-sama. After the… incident… I was sent to prison alongside my partner, as you know. While I was in prison, we got arranged for some early release due to our yakuza connections. There I began noticing a change in my partner. He began obsessing about this serial killer called the Occult Killer. He's convinced that… the Occult Killer had killed your rescuer, the real Stylish Bandit Slayer, because news about Stylish Bandit Slayer, or his other name, the Balaclavas Berserker, vanished from the media at around the same time that news about the Occult Killer started to rise. The biker gangs who used to be his main victims also reported that they are no longer attacked by him. It changed my partner. Being a former soldier of the Self Defense Force, he was scary already but the bloodlust in his eyes made him much scarier. It scares me… so much that when he offered me to join his gang of serial killers… which turned into a cult… I refused. I don't wanna be a monster like him. And I… To atone for my sins, I took up Stylish's identity and started to fight crimes in his place."

"And yet we never saw you fighting the Doomsday Cult." I say accusingly, to which he nods.

"Yes… I was still too cowardly. I can only beat up small time thugs like these… Not real monsters like my old partner and his cult. And then there's the Occult Killer himself, the one who commands those zombies… I… I…" He began hyperventilating. I decided to let him off the hook, for now, and pull back my killing intent.

"Well… At least you've done more something I suppose." I say as I sheathe my sword and turn my back on him.

"Savior-sama. I… I'm sorry for…"

"I know. And I… cannot forgive you yet. Please understand." That reawakening my old trauma is not something that's easily forgiven.

"I don't expect to… Just know that I'll do what I can to aid you. Just like now." He says as he points his crowbar at the prince, who whines at the approaching tool turned weapon.

"Hiiii! Akane! Please! Save me from this monster!" The prince had the gall to beg me for help after everything he has done to me. I respond by unsheathing my blade and bring it down to his crotch.

"HIIIIIEEEEE!!!!!!" He squeals like a pig even though my blade is just barely inches to cutting his manhood, cutting a part of the chair he is sitting on instead, leading him to piss in his pants. Ugh, disgusting. That's why I don't want to actually cut him. I don't wanna stain my blade in his piss. After screeching and soiling his pants, he passed out.

"Take this garbage out of the shelter and let the people in." I commanded and the fighters following us obeyed as me and Mari-chan head out towards the entrance alongside the fake Stylish Bandit Slayer to join the battle outside.

Foolish youngsters! Foolish! Foolish Foolish! They can't see that I AM the future of mankind! I alone can lead us all to a new world! ME! The Divine Emperor of Japan! If they don't want to become a part of this new world, then so be it! They shall die and rot like the pieces of shit that they are!

I slash through another zombie with my katana but no matter how much I cut them off, they cannot die, not even when I decapitate them or bisect them. How infuriating!

If only I could be that immortal.

"Burn the bodies! Burn them all!" I commanded my soldiers and they brought flamethrowers to dispose of the bodies that have been sliced to pieces. Even if it risks burning the whole imperial palace down. It's fine. The palace can be rebuilt. I, however, must survive no matter what it takes!

"Keep them at bay and don't let them breach deeper!" I ordered my soldiers to keep the zombies at bay while also not allowing them to head deeper to reduce the risks of them turning into zombies and jeopardizing my efforts. My research is far too important to be destroyed here! I may have backup labs in other locations but they have all been compromised because the Occult Killer already knows where they are! The one underneath the imperial palace is the only one I've got!

I must survive. And to do that, I must head down to the secret lab located underneath the palace! Although the Divine Serum is still in experimental level, it seems that I must use it now or I'll die before claiming my rightful place as the emperor of the world!

Damn you, Occult Killer! I'll repay this insolence a hundred times more! And then you will fade into the ashes of history and be forgotten whereas I shall reign supreme forever!

I enter the secret lab and immediately take the syringe containing the experimental serum. But just as I was about to inject myself with it, I hear a demonic chuckle behind me.

"Who's there!?" I unsheathe my blade and point it towards the source of the voice, which is a tall man clad in dark cloak wearing a skull mask, like one of those Doomsday Cultists… with his shining red eyes to distinguish him from the rest. I know who he is. I've seen him in the Kyoto video footage.

"Impressive setup. All those people locked in those tubes certainly gave this lab a more evil scientist lab vibe." He comments nonchalantly as he gazed upon the people... the lab rats locked within the tubes around the lab for experimentation.

"Occult Killer." I glare at him hatefully. How did he get here? And how could he sneak behind me without me noticing!? How did he evade my heightened senses?

"Heh heh heh. So that's your plan, Emperor Akuto? To inject yourself with such crude injection made out of monster cells?"

"Shut up! I will not have you insult my research, you damned psychopath! With this, I shall become immortal! And you will be ground to dust!"

"Ha! I never thought I'd find someone so similar to the Rounds here on Earth. You'd fit greatly with the Cult."

"I will not become a part of your stupid cult! Behold! My divine transformation!" I say as I inject the serum into my veins. The fool didn't even stop me. That would be his undoing!

The effect was instantaneous. My muscle bulges, ripping through my imperial uniform, and my power increases exponentially!

"Ha ha ha ha! My power! It's overflowing!" I bask in my newfound power. But as I gaze upon the fool, he merely clapped his hands nonchalantly.

"Congratulations. You've managed to create a cruder version of the Red Pills commonly used by the Cult. Perhaps you're in the right track to create your version of the Tears of Diablos after all." He says sarcastically as if unimpressed by my transforma—no… my divine ascension. How dare he…!

"We'll see who laughs last, Occult Killer! HAAAA!!" I form a blade out of my bones on my right wrist and use it to strike him, which he blocked with easily with his fingers.

"WHAT!?" I exclaim. It's unbelievable that he could stop my strike with just his fingers.

"Oh come on. Surely this is not all that you can do if you want to become a god."

"Don't you mock MEEEE!!!" I form another blade from my left wrist and strike him with it, but he blocks it again with his fingers from his other hand.

I form a horn from my forehead and try to stab him with it through a headbutt but he kicks me out of the way before I could do that. Just a kick from his slender foot and he managed to knock me to the wall… even though my muscle mass and power has increased exponentially…

"How… How did you…?"

"By being better than you, obviously."

"GRRR….!!!! FUCK YOOUUUUUUU!!!!" I rage and rage and rage… and it caused my muscles to bulge even more… painfully so. But the pain only increases my anger... and power.

"GRRRRAAAAAHHHH!!!!" I rush to slice him again with my blade but once again he blocks it with his fingers. What the hell!?

"With that sloppy control you've proven yourself unworthy to even become a First Child… let alone a Second Child. And here I thought you have the makings of a Rounds member." He nonchalantly comments, as calm as ever in the face of overwhelming power.

"What nonsense are you… spouting!?"

"I'm comparing you to other villains I've encountered in another world. And to be honest, you disappoint me more and more despite following their footsteps nicely enough at first." What… another… world…? Another… No! Curse you! CURSE YOUUU!!!

"GRAAAAAHHHH!!!!" I roar and charge at him again but he knocks me away with a finger, once again sending me to the wall.

"GUUAAAAHHHHH!!!" I roar again and try to charge at him but… as my muscles bulge even more, I stumbled to the floor and noticed my feet are… rotting!?

"A… AAAAAAGHHHH!!!" I screamed at the immense pain that not even my anger could subdue.

"Oh look. You've caught the Magic Overload, or as the people from the other world likes to call it, Demonic Possession." He comments nonchalantly as the rot spreads from my feet to the rest of my body… painfully so.

"AAAGHHH!! NOOO!!! I MUST NOT DIE HEREEE!!! AAAGHHHH!!!"

"I'd comment on how this is karma for experimenting on those poor people in the tubes but I'm not a hero. I'm a villain through and through. And all I will say is that this is an amusing sight to behold indeed. Ha ha ha ha!" he laughs… he laughs while I, the emperor of mankind… is suffering!

No… I don't want this! I don't want to suffer! I don't want to die! I want to be the emperor!!!

"Don't worry. In that condition, you won't die. Not even when you wished for it. The rampaging magic inside you will keep you sustained even if you didn't consume any sustenance as it keeps you in perpetual pain. While you're at it, let's have you watch my handiwork firsthand, shall we?"

"Where… you… taking…. me….?" I try to speak as the cancerous rot and my own bulging muscles make it difficult for me to speak.

"Tokyo Tower. From there we should be able to watch the massacre unfolds. Heh heh heh." He chuckles as he drags my deformed body, which now resembles a giant meatball, out of the lab with only one hand.

Akane-chan and I managed to rescue the girls kidnapped by the imperial prince and get the people into the shelter. Hopefully this will protect them from the battle currently raging outside the walls.

*BOOM*

Just in time for the monsters to breach the walls I guess. The three robots, which are colored red, green and blue, also finally make their move. And I have an idea on who's piloting them based on their colors.

It seems that the rangers finally finished creating their Zords.

We watch nervously as the giant robots approach the city, expecting it to start massacring our army. But we didn't expect them to turn on the monsters instead.

"Huh?" Even Akane is surprised as she didn't expect those cowardly rangers to actually turn against their masters like that.

It nonetheless raised our army's morale, causing them to start cheering for the rangers. Heh. It seems that they finally became the heroes they're supposed to be.

"Brace yourselves! Incoming!!!" An adult awakener and a commander of the Japanese Self Defense Force shouts, prompting us to be ready for the rush of monsters and zombies.

With the help of the robo—Zords, we managed to keep the monster and zombie army at bay, not allowing them into the city and keeping them at the breach. The assistance of the occultist faction and their magic is quite crucial to this endeavour, be it their magic spells, barriers or their shikigami familiars providing additional manpower.

The other warriors also contributed by slicing the zombies to pieces, allowing the occultists to finish them off with magic, which is more effective against the zombies. They also fought the giant monsters alongside the shikigamis on the front lines.

But how long can we keep up? No matter how strong our defences are, we cannot keep it up for long… and there's still plenty of more monsters and zombies waiting for their turn outside the walls! If only there'd be more of them turning against their own…

*BOOM*

Just as I thought about that, I saw a bright purple explosion outside the city, devastating a portion of the monster army. The explosion shakes the ground that the entire city felt its impact.

"What the hell was that!?" One of the soldiers exclaims. We also felt an enormous amount of magic… bigger than anything we've ever felt save for the Occult Killer. In fact, the amount of magic we felt outside almost match if not greater than the Occult Killer's!

"Look! Outside the city! That thing… it's responsible for that purple explosion!!" One of the men who manned the wall shouts while pointing outside the wall.

*BOOM*

Another purple explosion shakes the ground and devastates the monster army outside before any of us could ask what the hell those soldiers saw outside the wall.

"What do you see!?" I shout at the men in the walls but they're shaking, unable to form words from how in disbelief they are.

*BOOM*

Another purple explosion. Despite how much it shakes the ground, I climb the stairs on the wall in order to get a better look at what kind of creature wields such power, hoping that it is on our side rather than just a random rampaging monster who would turn against us when it is done with our enemies. If that creature is on our side… we could have hope against the Occult Killer, who wields power equivalent to a nuke!

Akane-chan and the fake Stylish-san follow me closely behind, no doubt curious as to who or what could've made those explosions.

*BOOM*

Another explosion occurs before we reach the top, almost knocking me off the stairs, though I was saved by the fake Stylish-san who caught my hand before I fall off the stairs.

"Are you okay, Mari Blue?"

"I'm okay. Thanks, fake Stylish-san." I thank him with a bright smile, which caused him to blush.

"… You're welcome."

"What's your name, by the way? I can't keep calling you fake Stylish-san forever after all."

"No. I've abandoned my old name along with my past. You can call me whatever you like."

"O-Okay then…" I decide not to press the topic any further as it is clear that he regretted his past action so much after witnessing how his former comrade turned into serial killers, something I symphatize with.

*BOOM*

Another explosion. Just how much magic power does that creature possess?

"What manner of creature do you think possess that power, Akane-chan?" I ask Akane-chan, who appears stunned at the sight of the purplish blue flash coming from outside the walls.

"I don't know… but… I have a feeling that… he's here…" Akane remarks with a slight smile.

"You mean… Your Mino-san?"

"Minoru-kun. Kageno Minoru-kun. The real Stylish Bandit Slayer." So that's the name of the guy who saved her when she was kidnapped. The fake Stylish-san also widens his eyes at the mention of the real name of the person he's currently impersonating.

"He's… here? How did you know?" Fake Stylish-san asks as he cannot believe it. He knows as much as we do that the real Stylish Bandit Slayer, Kageno Minoru, is dead, though he seem to believe that the Stylish Bandit Slayer was killed by the Occult Killer, which is why the real Stylish Bandit Slayer vanished right around the same time that the Occult Killer started his murdering spree.

"I… It's difficult to say… It's just… my intuition. It also allowed me to recognize the Occult Killer when we met in Messiah." Intuition, huh. I understand that completely.

*BOOM*

Another explosion snaps us out of our conversation.

"We've talked long enough! Lets go!" I say as all three of us continue climbing the stairs and finally reach the top where we can finally see the battlefield outside the walls.

We see several craters formed by the purple explosions… and we see it… the black creature wrapped in purple magic responsible for all those explosions.

"T-That's…!!"

Author's Note:

Is it him!? Has the Stylish Bandit Slayer finally returned to his old world? Find out in the next episode of The Cliffhanger in Shadow!

By the way, about Kuzaya, Mari-chan's manager, I totally forgot about where I got his name until I read the latest chapter of The Eminence in Shadow manga where I realized I took the name from a canon character. It's too late to change his name so I decided to make a 4th wall breaking joke out of it.

Also, it's finally the right time to say Happy 1 Year Anniversary to The Necromancer in Shadow! It's been a long journey indeed! The previous auxiliary chapter was supposed to be the chapter to celebrate the anniversary but it is too short and I couldn't wait to release it so now I've written a long chapter for the anniversary instead.

Hope to continue entertaining you for years to come!

But apparently that fanfic conclusion on your first question is cautiously because carelessness cause domino effect... and death... the second question is also feared/cautiosly but it was because Cid Luck stats+reputation as bandit slayer/item stealer

Chapter 155: King of Monsters
Chapter 155: King of Monsters

I stayed in Akihabara while Mari and many other Akihabara warriors left the city on a mission. I've seen them leaving for subjugation missions and this is the first time I've seen them leaving with such huge numbers. Even without Mari telling me anything I can tell that they're going to war. War against Necromancer.

Curse you, Necromancer. Your evil knows no bounds that you would wage war even against a ruined world infested by otherworldly monsters.

I've grown… rather fond of Mari for her kindness in letting me stay here and her sincere smile. I can see in her eyes that something burdens her conscience a lot. She could've asked me for help and I would've helped her but… she chose not to… so all I could do for her was train her in the ways of the shadows, which helped her immensely with her training with that bald monk.

At least, even with the huge number of warriors she took with her, she didn't take more than 50% of Akihabara's forces so that probably means they will be joining other factions in an alliance that I've heard being formed lately. Her two companions didn't even accompany her, which leads me to believe that she wasn't heading towards a final battle of sorts… not yet.

Speaking of her companions, it seems they've come to my room for a visit. How rare it is considering how they're always nervous around me. Oh? It seems that their leader has come too, a man who wears funny animal costume and mysteriously shares his name with one of the Thirteen Night Blades who has already been killed by Shadow. Despite his ridiculous appearance, I didn't underestimate him. He is a man who controls his emotions the way a politician does, as expected of a leader of a faction. As a leading figure myself, I understand his motives.

"Good afternoon, Alpha-dono. I trust you find our accommodations comfortable?" The man in animal suit, Kuzaya, greets politely.

"Yes I am, Kuzaya-san. Thank you. I find the accommodations you provided to be excellent." I reply in fluent Japanese, surprising the two girls in red and green. And I'm not even kidding. The convenience of their products is revolutionary, surpassing even Mitsugoshi's technology. I might need to bring some of them home... if I could go home that is.

"She spoke… fluently…" Says the girl in red, Aki, with her jaw hanging.

"Even though Mari-chan just taught her Japanese for a few weeks…!" Says the girl in green, Shiina, equally surprised as Aki.

"Ahem. It seems that you've learned Japanese quite quickly. That's reassuring. That means you can make friends in Akihabara now. If you're feeling up to it, you may explore the city if you like." Kuzaya says politely, not expressing how much he is surprised. I know that he's hiding something but he at least didn't feel malicious to me.

Though… about exploring the city, I've already done so in secret.

"Thank you. Perhaps I will do that soon. Though… I'm sure that's not the reason you're here, isn't it?" I say while locking eyes with him. He now knows that he cannot distract me with idle chatter in order to obtain information about me, information that I'm still reluctant to share, especially after that incident with that scientist from Messiah.

"Hm. Indeed. I'll be frank with you then, Alpha-dono. In truth, the masked man you faced, The Occult Killer, has declared war against us all. Not just Akihabara but all of mankind. According to Mari-chan, you spoke the same language as him. You seem to know things about him that we do not know… and your power level is… the closest we got to his. Can you tell us… can we defeat him?" He ask a question with worried eyes, no longer hiding his emotions and spoke honestly.

"I know you're expecting me to fight him and rest assured that I plan to… but I'm no match for him. Me and my sisters have tried and… we were completely outmatched." I return his honesty with honesty.

"Then… How can we defeat him!?" Aki says with desperation in her voice.

"I know of a man who can defeat that monster. But he's currently… out of our reach." I say as I look out of the window. The image of a man in black flashes in my mind.

"Who is he!? And why is he out of our reach!?" Aki says with sharp tone.

"Aki-chan! Calm down!" Says Shiina while pulling Aki back.

"He is… my master. The reason he is out of our reach is because… that monster banished him to another realm. Only when he returns that we can hope to turn the tide in our favour."

I stood at the top of the Tokyo Tower with the bloated emperor beneath my feet impaled by the tower's tip. I observe how the poor people have been escorted to the shelters thanks to the efforts of two heroines, Nishino Akane and Mari Blue.

They did well in dealing with the zombie apocalypse I started in the middle of the city by raising one zombie and letting said zombie turn other people into zombies. Turning people into zombies remotely is fun. I've used this kind of magic on my Reaper Squad to prevent them from getting interrogated but this is the first time I've successfully turn it into a proper zombie apocalypse event. I need to start doing this in Midgar when I return.

Either way, my Doomsday Cultists have infiltrated the city while everyone is distracted by the zombies and within a few hours, this entire city is doomed. But in order to ensure that their movements go smoothly, I need to cause another distraction.

"Red Ranger. I order you to start your attack." I commanded the red ranger telepathically, although I know he won't obey. I just want to witness his betrayal and amuse myself with his futile struggles. I predict that he will immediately betray me.

Responding to my command, the three zords moved forward just in time for the monster army I brought to breach the walls of Tokyo, leading the defernders to struggle desperately to defend the city from my army of undead and monsters.

"He won't…. listen… to you…" The foolish bloated emperor, still conscious despite his condition, spoke defiantly. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

"I know. I want to see how far he'll go with his betrayal." And because whether he betrays me or not, he still serves me in the end.

And just as we predicted, the three zords immediately attacks the monster army from the rear, giving the city's defenders some breathing room while they try their best to stop the zombie army from entering the breach.

But… An enormous power is approaching… and its signature is extremely familiar. Could it be? Heh heh heh. This is getting interesting.

"Heh heh heh. Looks like we're about to witness a great show."

*BOOM*

Out of nowhere, a bright purple explosion occurs outside the walls, destroying several monsters and zombies.

"It's here. Heh heh heh."

"What... is… that…?" The emperor mutters in disbelief over what he's seeing. I myself am quite surprised.

"Have you never watched the movies?"

"I have no… time for such… childish…"

"No wonder why your life is so miserable. You should've at least had some fun whilst politicking. Having fun makes being a villain all the more worth it."

"I'm not… like… you…!"

"You're right. You're nowhere near my level. I'm simply… better."

*BOOM*

The explosion occurs several times more, devastating a portion of my forces. The smoke eventually clears, revealing the black form of the creature responsible for those enormous explosions.

"There you are…. King of Monsters." I say as a giant dinosaur with black scales and purple glowing spikes growing out of its spine reveals itself, shooting beams of purple lights from its mouth, causing more and more explosions as the beams hit the ground.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD0FeOrK6rk&ab_channel=WaterTowerMusic

"T-That's… a T-Rex!?" I say as I see the black dinosaur with black scales and purple glowing spikes growing out of its back emerges from the cloud of smoke. Its chest also glows purple and several lines resembling veins spread out from the glowing chest, as if the glow in its chest is a nuclear reactor that serves as its heart. It's almost like…

"No, Akane-chan! Haven't you seen the movies!? That's Godzilla!" Mari-chan corrected me. I was about to say the same thing. The other defenders watching the kaiju annihilate our enemies also nodded in agreement.

"The design is a bit different though. Godzilla was… chubbier while this one looks a bit more like your typical T-Rex." I say as I recall the form of Godzilla from the movies I used to watch.

"True. But Godzilla is Godzilla! Ha ha ha…! Things are getting crazier and crazier every day, isn't it, Akane-chan? I never thought I'd become a real magical girl fighting alongside power rangers, kamen riders, etc… but seeing a Godzilla? Never in my wildest dreams…" Mari-chan says while laughing at the absurdity of things.

"Yeah. Me too."

"Do you think it would sing nanora?"

"Nanora? What's that?"

"Nevermind. What's next I wonder? King Ghidorah? Gundam? Titans?"

"I hope not. Things are crazy enough as it is." I say while facepalming. We had enough kaiju problems as it is. Though humanity's current condition is kinda similar to that one manga and anime with Titans already.

"That glowing thing on its heart…I sense enormous magic power coming from there. Do you think it's an artificial core of some kind, Akane-chan?"

"I think so. Maybe someone put a nuclear reactor there. I wonder who could've done it… though… I had the feeling that…"

"That your Minoru-kun is the one who did it from beyond the grave?"

"Yeah. It's crazy I know… but…"

"Well… I know that feeling. My brother is dead but… I still get the feeling that he's alive somewhere out there." She says as she looks at the sky.

I wonder what kind of person her brother was like. He must've been a great person if someone like Mari-chan loved him so much and still misses him greatly years after his passing. Was he a great person... like Minoru-kun? To her he must've been, just like how great Minoru-kun was to me.

*BOOM*

"Whoah!" An explosion occurs almost too close to the walls but it didn't even damage the walls even though that kaiju can easily aim for the wall.

"It's not shooting us…!" Mari-chan mutters quietly, but her words are heard by other defenders as well.

"Then that means… Godzilla is on our side!? Woo hoo!"

"Yeeaaaah! Go Godzilla!"

"Godzilla is awesome!!"

"""Godzilla! Godzilla! Godzilla!"""

The defenders cheers and chants Godzilla's name, their morale at all time high as they convince themselves that the kaiju is on our side even though that's not really confirmed. But in this situation I really hope that is the case.

"Savior-dono!" I heard a familiar voice spoken through a speaker and turned towards the source, the red human shaped robot approaching our side of the walls by flying with jet powered wings.

"I hope you're not trying to convince me and Mari-chan to join you, red ranger!" I reply with distrust in my voice. I know I'm petty but what he has done today cannot easily erase everything he's done up until now... especially considering they've betrayed their closest ally, who has the Ultrama—Ultra Force, from what I've heard.

"I know I do not deserve forgiveness for what I've done. I don't expect your trust or forgiveness. Just know that we are on your side now and we're ready to die as long as we can destroy that monster." He reply with desperation that I didn't expect out of someone like him… though I suppose what he's feeling now is similar to what this… fake Stylish Bandit Slayer is feeling. A single glance at him and I can already see how much he sympathizes with the red ranger.

"Fine. Just fight the monsters with the best of your abilities and I'll vouch for you joining our alliance. At this point in time we'll need all the help we can get. But the moment you show any sign of betrayal, I'll kill you myself!" I gave him my warning while pointing my sword at him and… through his robot's head, he nods before he left to continue fighting, brandishing his magic coated swords to slice through the monsters like hot knife through butter. I admit, that's kinda cool.

The other two robots, colored blue and green, also brandishes their weapons and starts slaughtering the monster while not allowing the monsters to catch up with their jet powered speed. The green one even has a sniper rifle which it uses to snipe the monster while flying in the air.

"Woah! Those are zords! We got giant robots on our side!"

"That's so cool!"

"Awesome!"

"We can win this!"

The defenders' morale is high now that we are joined by unexpected but powerful new allies… At this rate I'm starting to have hope too. With the King of Monsters Godzilla on our side, I believe we can win this!

Minoru-kun! Wherever you are… thank you!

Sike! Shadow hasn't returned yet. But don't worry, he will return soon, preferably when you least expect it!

Also, Godzilla finally appears in my fanfic (sort of). Can he turn the tide of battle? Find out in the next episode of the Nanora in Shadow!

Going off topic,
  1. How would Shadow Garden react if Shadow pretend saying that Ainz Ooal Gown was one of his most powerful enemies?
  2. How would Nazarick react if Ainz cause a misunderstanding that Shadow is someone that he truly fears?

1. They'll think he's a dangerous enemy and would probably try to grow stronger in response to that knowledge like in this fanfic.
2. The Guardians, Demiurge especially, will form plans to eliminate this threat.

"The design is a bit different though. Godzilla was… chubbier while this one looks a bit more like your typical T-Rex." I say as I recall the form of Godzilla from the movies I used to watch.

Damn, it's the Murica version of godzilla of the 2000s

Find out in the next episode of the Nanora in Shadow!

Nanora needs a crossover with Boochi.

This is a bit of sudden thought... is Shadow fighting in Ragnarog homeworld? Aka fourth dimension/world dubbed by the cult?

Indeed. You think he won't have fun in an alien world? Of course he would, though what he can do is limited because the inhabitants of the realm mostly lacks intelligence (which means he can't do his usual shadowbroker acts).

I assume that's where godzilla knock off came from? He's righy now trying teleportation/dimension hopping test first with that creature as sacrifice.

Chapter 156: Divine Wind

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuuMSwJP5wE&ab_channel=PushBlock

I stand atop the Tokyo Tower to watch the battle unfold. The emperor, who is nothing but a piece of mutated meatball now, watches the battle with me beneath my foot. Both of us are excited at the show, but for different reasons.

*BOOM*

More explosions erupt as I see the Godzilla-like monster shoots bright purple beams out of its mouth, destroying everything in its path. To prevent it from killing more of them, my army of monsters of all shapes and sizes start rushing towards it, attacking it from all sides.

The Godzilla-like monster responds by swiping the majority of them with its whip-like tail, repelling some attacks with the glowing spikes protruding from its back and biting others, ripping them apart with its massive jaw.

It continues fighting through the horde of monsters and stepping on zombies and skeletons that happen to be in its way. Some of the zombies and skeletons that I turn into mages unleash numerous destruction spells on it but they fail to penetrate its obsidian scales.

But the Godzilla still receives some damage despite how much it dominates the battlefield. Some of the monsters manage to leave some scratch and even minor wounds on it, though the Godzilla easily heals the wounds at a rate faster than it receives them, which make it seem like they barely make a dent on its scales.

When the Apex Beasts attack it however, it starts receiving more damage than it could heal. Nevertheless, the wounds didn't stop it. In fact, it seems to be more excited as it fights multiple Apex Beasts at once. How could I tell that it is excited? By noticing how its movements becomes faster and more brutal than when it fought lesser monsters, which bores it.

Truly… this monster greatly resemble a certain someone who's currently not here yet.

"""Godzilla! Godzilla! Godzilla!"""

The defenders chant its name as its actions raises their spirits and morale. Now they think that they can survive this battle. How naïve.

With the Godzilla taking the attention of multiple Apex Beasts at once, many of whom are as big as it, and with the rangers piloting the giant zords decimating many other monsters, the defenders, particularly the ones standing in the breach of the wall with their shields up (both physical and magical) only have the horde of zombies and skeletons to worry about as they kept the horde at bay while the spellcasters on the wall and the ones behind them casts spells that chip away at the horde one by one.

Yes. Good. Keep hoping. Keep thinking that you can win. See what good it does you.

"Heh… It seems… that… your plan failed…!" The emperor, still not admitting his defeat, confidently declares his victory one-sidedly.

"Heh heh heh. Don't be impatient. The show is only starting." I reply with a chuckle, not wanting to spoil the fun as I also secretly keep tabs on my minions, who are already in the city and will soon be prepared to execute my master plan for this city.

Turning my attention back to the battle, I see the Godzilla, surrounded by the Apex Beasts, starts to gather energy around its body, preparing something big. Heh heh heh. It seems that it's thinking of similar strategy that I'm having my minions do.

Seeing that its next move takes some time and sensing its danger, the Apex Beasts, immediately rush to attack it. The Godzilla defends itself by fighting back the onslaught but it didn't stop charging its own attack. The interruptions only serve to delay the inevitable.

A spider-like Apex Beast try to pierce the Godzilla with its long legs but the Godzilla dodged them, only to be intercepted by the claw of an Apex Beast with huge claws, which it responds by swiping said beast away with its tail.

Then the wolf-like beast I revived and enlarged back in Messiah fires its own beam attack from its mouth at the Godzilla, who took the attack head on.

As the smoke clears, the figure of an injured Godzilla emerges, jumping high in the air and uses the nails on its foot to claw at the wolf-like beast as it descends to the ground, piercing through the hard carapace covering its body and landing a massive damage on the flesh beneath the armor.

The Godzilla follows through the attack by biting the wolf-like monster's neck, almost breaking it before being interrupted by an insect-like monster with many crab-like claws pulling its tail with its pincers.

With the Godzilla's attention taken away by the insect monster, the wolf-like monster stood back up and began firing another beam attack from its mouth but the Godzilla dodges the attack by snapping its tail off like a lizard, leading to the beam attack destroying the insect monster who is still grabbing the Godzilla's tail with its pincers.

Another monster with massive bull-like horns charges at the Godzilla, intending to impale the dinosaur with its horns. The Godzilla dodges its attack, letting it crash against another monster before turning towards another monster, a winged beast with hook-like talons trying to attack it with said talons. The Godzilla catches the winged beast's leg between its jaws before the winged beast can use its deadly talons and slams it to the ground and finishes it off by biting its neck off.

The wolf-like monster recovers and tries to attack the Godzilla again with its beam attack but the Godzilla grabs another Apex Beast and throws it at the trajectory of the beam attack, using said beast as a shield while the Godzilla once again jumps to attack the wolf-like monster by stomping it underfoot. The wolf-like monster dodges and tries to counterattack by biting the Godzilla from the side but the Godzilla is faster and bites the wolf beast's leg and slams it to the ground before proceeding to bite its exposed belly where it is unprotected by carapace, trying to tear its organs out.

But the wolf-like beast is an undead, which makes it immune to pain. Without pain getting in the way, the wolf beast claws at the Godzilla's face, forcing it to stop its attack and jumps back.

As the Godzilla lands a few steps backwards, it is immediately surrounded by attacks from all sides. Staying in place would mean receiving attacks from all sides and jumping forward would only mean it has to take the wolf-like beast's beam attack head on as the beast is already prepared to fire its beam attack again.

But the Godzilla is already prepared as well. Purplish magical aura shrouds the Godzilla's body, making its obsidian body glow brightly. The monsters attacking it are stunned by the amount of magic it exudes and they try to escape but the Godzilla chased after them and eventually wraps them with its light.

*BOOOOOOMM*

A nuclear level explosion erupts as the Godzilla decides to do a a self destruct attack that wipes out all the Apex Beast surrounding it, my wolf-like beast included.

The shockwave from the explosion can be felt throughout the whole city and even the Tokyo Tower I'm standing on is shaking, though it obviously didn't shake me as I've taken an attack of similar level head on.

The walls of Tokyo collapses from the sheer strength of the explosion's shockwave, forcing the defenders manning it to jump away with their superhuman strength, though that didn't save some of them who are too engrossed with watching the battle that they were unprepared to jump away to safety.

A few moment of silence passes as the defenders look out to the smoke where the explosion occurred, searching for the figure of the black dinosaur with bated breath.

Eventually I spot the injured figure of the Godzilla inside the smoke. Injured but alive and is slowly regenerating the damages on its body caused by both the attacks from the Apex Beasts and from self destructing. Looks like it didn't exactly do a suicide bomb move although that attack still costs it dearly by giving it massive damage on top of draining its magic power reserve. Looks like even if it was made by my nemesis, the Godzilla still lacks his perfect magic control. If it didn't, it wouldn't have injured itself like that.

Due to its injuries and the need to recover its strength, the Godzilla retreated from the battlefield.

"""Godzilla! Godzilla! Godzilla!"""

Despite causing massive damage to Tokyo's wall, the defenders still cheers its name as it left because thanks to the Godzilla's efforts, they have the advantage in this battle now as the Apex Beasts have been wiped out along with the majority of the monster army, leaving them with only the undead army to worry about. But even with larger breach on the walls, the defenders are still confident that they can take care of the undead army… or so they think.

"Ha… ha ha… haa…. It looks like your army… has been… defeated…!" The emperor taunts me, thinking I've lost the battle. Has his intelligence been reduced by the injection or is he always this stupid? Didn't he know that I could've wiped out the entire city single-handedly if I want to? The only reason I didn't do it is because that would be way too boring and unstylish for a sophisticated villain such as myself.

"You think so? Then think again. Just as you don't care about losing your people, I don't care about losing some minor pawns. In fact, why don't I show you the old imperial army's infamous tactic?" I reply to the old mutated emperor. He still didn't get it as he still didn't lose his grotesque grin.

"You're bluffing, you mad… serial killer! There's nothing you can do… to turn the tide of battle!"

"Just wait and see. The show is about to reach its climax."

"You mean… your defeat?"

"You're too focused on the battle outside the walls that you fail to see what's happening inside the city, didn't you?"

"Why should I!? Your zombies infiltrating the city… has been wiped out by my army!" By 'his army', he's referring to the allied forces who defends the city in place of his imperial army, who has been wiped out in the imperial palace.

"Heh heh heh. That's why you're doomed to fail, Akuto. You are far too short sighted and foolish."

"D-Don't you mock me! I have a vision to a brighter future for humanity! I have plans… for my inevitable and eternal reign!"

"And look where that got you. To becoming nothing but a mutated meatball." The foolish emperor has nothing to counter that. After all, his so-called Divine Serum is to blame for his current condition.

"What do you want, Occult Killer? Money? Fame?" He finally changes his tone to be less defiant, perhaps in a foolish attempt to persuade me into making a deal with him. Oh how foolish. As if I'm a low-class villain who can be persuaded by whatever material gains that you have to offer.

"What I want? I want chaos and destruction. I want to bring suffering and pain to all. I want the world to know and fear me and what I'm capable of."

"You're… insane!"

"You did call me an insane serial killer, didn't you? Why the surprise now?"

"You can't possibly…!"

"You yourself are quite the insane person. World domination? That's a classic and cartoonish villainous ambition."

*BOOM*

An explosion, a non nuclear level one, erupts in the middle of the city, interrupting our conversation. Looks like it has finally started.

"What's… that…?" The emperor asks, baffled at the sight of green smoke in the place where the explosion occurred.

"Didn't you hear me? I said I'm going to use the old imperial army's infamous tactic that they used against the Americans."

"What…?"

"You know? The one they used in the Pacific wars?"

"Huh…?"

"Oh come on! You old people should've studied history more than I did! Especially during your predecessor's reign! Even the Godzilla just gave you a clue back there!"

"You… you mean…!?"

"That's right. The Kamikaze."

"S-Since when did you…?"

"Since the beginning of the battle. You fools are just too focused on the battle occurring outside the walls to notice my minions infiltrating the city, smuggling a few… presents." I explain and for the first time, the foolish emperor lost his grin as he realized that he and the defenders of Tokyo has been toyed with by yours truly the whole time.

Alright... its good, we can establish at this point Cid is trying to open a portal and jump into the japan as of right now and landed seeing Kaiju battles. Then he ask himself how do I integrate myself in this?

I'm very so tempted to say the Cid already has the portal mastered and is waiting to the exact moment to make his dramatic entrance as an eminence of the shadows.

Chapter 157: Can’t Spell Slaughter without Laughter
Chapter 157: Can't Spell Slaughter without Laughter

*BOOM*

Just as everyone cheered for the Godzilla as he retreated, an explosion is heard behind us all. We turn towards the source of the sound and saw green smoke inside the city, a clear indication of an explosion happening inside the city.

"What the…?" Mutters Akane-chan, clearly as bewildered as I am. This is supposed to be our hour of victory and yet…

When I see that green color, I immediately deduced that it's the Occult Killer's doing as I recall his magic, which coated his staff into forming a scythe when I fought him, to be green colored.

*BOOM* *BOOM* *BOOM*

Before we have the chance to react, more explosions happen at various spots in the city, including in the shelter where the people are hiding in.

"No way… Our bases!!" A commander of the Japanese Self Defense Force shouts as one of the military bases they operated is engulfed in the green smoke. The fate of the commanders and communications operators residing in the base are now unknown.

Several defenders from various factions are also horrified as they look at the buildings where their comrades and leaders are stationed. Of course the base that we from the Akihabara faction used, which is ironically located in the former Akihabara district of Tokyo before our faction moved out of the city, is among those that are affected, but luckily all of us are on the field instead of remaining there thanks to my orders and so I only have one thing to worry about right now.

"Akane-chan! The shelter!" I shout at Akane-chan, who shares the same feeling because the people from her faction that holed up in Messiah's base are followers of that brute Saejima guy, who refused to fight on the front lines, which makes them not among the people she will miss. She nods and began following me to the shelter, followed by a few fighters from various factions, including both of our factions, soldiers from the Self Defense Force, a few guys from the Kamen Rider faction, and the… Fake Stylish-san.

With our superhuman speed, we reached the entrance to the shelter quickly… but we didn't enter as it is still engulfed in that sickening green smoke.

"What are we waiting for? Let's jump right i--"

"Stop!" Akane-chan stops one of her comrades before said comrade can jump recklessly into the green smoke.

"The green smoke could be poisonous for all we know. Please be more cautious! Does anyone have gas masks?" She asks.

"Uhh… I believe we have some in the Japanese Self Defense Force base but…" The soldier who replies didn't even need to finish that sentence as the look on our faces are as grim as his.

As we are contemplating on how to approach the shelter, we detect movements from inside the shelter. The gate to the shelter opens slowly and we watch with bated breaths as the people who opened the gate reveal themselves.

The sight is not good… not good at all. Because the ones who opened the gate are not survivors.

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9lBwzxyDVI&ab_channel=OxT-Topic

"Hiiiiii!!! Th-The people…!" Shouts someone from our group as we instinctively take a few steps backwards as the zombies, who are formerly the people we saved and put inside the shelter, began shambling at our direction slowly and menacingly.

"Mari-tan! Can we fight them?" One member of Akihabara faction calls out to me with a question, knowing I can actually permanently kill the zombies with my magic. But…

"No. There's too many of them and there's not enough spellcasters among our group. We'll run out of magic power before we can finish them all off."

"Then what should we do?"

"Retreat…" I say quietly while trying to suppress my own emotions.

"Wha…?" Apparently I wasn't being clear enough as he actually has to ask… or perhaps he is distracted by the horrifying sight that he failed to listen to what I said.

"RETREAT!! NOW!!" I shout and at that moment all hell breaks loose. Our group immediately runs away from the advancing horde of zombies, who start running to chase after us like malicious beasts the moment we start running. Some of them are even running on all fours like feral animals.

"Aren't zombies supposed to be slow!? How are they so goddamn fast!?"

"They're gaining on us!?"

"Fuck! I don't wanna dieee!!!"

"Are those even proper zombies!? How can they keep up with us!?" A good point. We are awakeners with superhuman strength… and yet those zombies… who were ordinary people just few minutes ago…

"There's more of them up front!" Akane shouts as most of us failed to notice another horde of zombies in front of us as we ran.

"We're cornered!"

"What do we do!?"

"JUMP!!" I shout as me and Akane-chan start jumping to the buildings around us and parkouring to climb higher and higher. Some members of our group follow suit but the ones who failed remain stunned on the street as they witness one of the zombies in front of them began glowing green and its skin cracking… as if it's about to…

"JUMP!!! NOW!!!" I shout again but it's too late. The zombie who glows explodes and spreads green smoke all around the street we were in and people below failed to react and are engulfed in the smoke.

With our enhanced eyesight, we could make out the silhouette of the people below as they turn into zombies before they could even fall to the ground. The effect was too horrifyingly quick. Their once healthy and living bodies instantly turn into pale and lifeless husks right before our eyes.

Not giving us the chance to lament the losses of our comrades, the zombies began jumping up the buildings in order to chase us, forcing us to go higher until we reach the rooftops, whereupon we would jump from building to building to avoid the zombies chasing us.

"Nishi… no… Akaaa… neee…!" One of the zombies calls out to Akane-chan and we realize that it's that brute Saejima. Deciphering his identity makes us realize that the zombies who chased us all the way to the rooftops are formerly awakeners. Being awakeners must've enhanced their already formidable physical prowess if even ordinary people can become superhuman after being zombified.

"Get away from meee!!" Akane shouts as she slices the zombie Saejima in half with her katana but it prove useless as the zombie Saejima reattaches his body without falling to the ground.

The instant we stop is when we are immediately surrounded by super powered zombies.

"I'm sorry… It's my fault that we…"

"Shut up, Akane-chan! Now's not the time to blame yourself!"

We brace ourselves for a fight to the death right here right now…

"Leave them to me and go." Says the Fake Stylish-san with determination in his eyes.

"But…!" Akane-chan wants to refute but she's unable to find the words for it.

"I need to atone for my sins after all. Just leave me and go!"

"…" A few seconds of silence are broken as the zombies began advancing, forcing us all to fight back.

"I'll be fine! Just like the real Stylish Bandit Slayer, I'm adept at fighting multiple enemies!" Says Fake Stylish-san as he demonstrates his skill by knocking multiple zombies away with his crowbars.

"Go!!!" He shouts again and reluctantly Akane-chan turns her back on him.

"Before we go… I just want you to know that I… I forgive you." Akane-chan says with a tear flowing down her cheek, knowing he's lying. Fake Stylish-san merely smiles as he continues fending off the zombie with his crowbar, attracting their attention by fighting the fiercest among us, allowing us to slip through the cracks and escape the encirclement of zombies unharmed.

In the end, only me, Akane-chan and less than10 people from our group survived the encirclement as we make our escape with heavy hearts.

We jump from rooftop to rooftop to try and find our allies or anything that still lives… to no avail. As far as the eye can see, the city of Tokyo has been turned into the city of the dead in a matter of minutes.

"Where should we go now…?" Akane-chan asks me while trembling, not from fear but from grief and self blame.

"We need to leave the city. Let's head to Akihabara. It's the closest settlement to Tokyo" I say, pointing at the direction of Akihabara, not the old Akihabara which is a part of Tokyo but to where we the Akihabara faction makes our base after the monster apocalypse.

Akane-chan wordlessly agreed and follows me out of the city by using the trail of destruction left by Godzilla, which allow us to escape the city despite the ongoing siege.

That day humanity received a grim reminder…

"Heh heh heh heh…. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!!! HAA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!"

…of the terror of the Occult Killer who brought doom upon us all.

"Heh heh heh heh…. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha!!! HAA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!" I laugh and laugh and laugh. My laughter echoes throughout the sky. The previously smug emperor beneath me is left speechless as he saw me turning the tide of battle instantly.

My combination of Trojan Horse and Kamikaze strategy succeeded flawlessly.

"Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful! Well done, my minions! Well done!" I say as I kept my eyes peeled towards the sight of the ruined city tinged with green smoke filled with former residents and defenders of the city turned undead.

Naturally I have to make a really loud (magically enhanced) evil laugh. Can't spell slaughter without laughter after all. No doubt those retreating survivors heard it and despair. I'll let them live to tell the tale of their great defeat. Will they fall into despair after their grand alliance failed them? Or will they continue to resist? Only time will tell… though I do hope it's the former. Humanity of this world has no value if they give up after just that.

Just as I continue laughing, a white figure ascends towards Tokyo Tower and lands to my side, stepping on the bloated emperor.

"My lord. I offer you my congratulations after your victory." Says Yukime as she bows her head before me.

"Good work on leading those cultists to smuggle the exploding zombies."

"I thank you for your kindness." Still full of flattery as always… or perhaps she is currently practicing how to use flowery words in Japanese?

"You… The rumoured Tamamo-no-Mae!?" the emperor exclaims as this is his first time meeting Yukime. It's astounding how he can turn his head horizontally 180 degrees like an owl in that state of his, which allowed him to alternate between watching the battle and glare at me. It also allows him to see Yukime's form clearly.

"Good day to you, meatball. You must be the former emperor of this land." Yukime greets him teasingly.

"How… insolent… I am not a meatball… I am... a god…!" Still going on with this nonsense. Didn't you realize that this joke is getting old at this point?

"God of meatball perhaps. Oh ho ho ho ho!" Yukime says while making an Ojou-sama laugh.

"Where did you learn that?" Did she learn that from mangas or animes?

"I learned it from your sister. She was so cute whenever she does that." She replied in the language of the other world in order to prevent a leak of information about me. Smart move, Yukime, or I would probably kill your right here right now… probably. My image as a villain cannot be tainted by this weakness of mine after all.

But yeah… I know my sister does the ojou-sama laugh sometimes, though rarely in front of me. This habit of hers is why I associate her with the role of a Otome Game Villainess sometimes. I have to agree with Yukime though. She is kinda cute whenever she does that.

"Anyway, my lord. It seems that the survivors are retreating by following the black dragon's trail of destruction."

"Let them go. They are allowed to live to tell the tale."

"So they would stop opposing you, my lord?"

"Au contraire, I hope they wouldn't give up so easily. I want them to come up with better resistance on the next target, especially after I allowed the rangers to defect to their side." The next target I'm referring to is obviously the nearest settlement, which is Akihabara, where No. 001 is currently residing. I do hope you can help them make a difference, my lovely guinea pig. It wouldn't be fun otherwise.

"Oh ho ho ho! You're so bad, my lord."

"Indeed I am. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!"

Our laughter echoes throughout the sky above Tokyo, the city of the dead.

Author's Note:

And so the Battle of Tokyo is over.

Also, did you spot the Attack on Titan reference?

I wrote this chapter while listening to Laughter Slaughter by OxT. In fact, that song's title is the reason for the title of this chapter.

Oh wow... really commited making your story really villanous huh... add biological weapon to geneva comvention checklist... there's two possibilities when Shadow return at this rate... at Akihabara to meet with Alpha or the story drag until we reach Messiah.

Oh wow... really commited making your story really villanous huh... add biological weapon to geneva comvention checklist... there's two possibilities when Shadow return at this rate... at Akihabara to meet with Alpha or the story drag until we reach Messiah.

Checking those list of villainous deeds indeed. As for Shadow, we shall see.

Also, I drew an artwork for Chapter 3: The Cult of Diablos because I wanna draw light novel style art. :lol2:
