The Life and Times of Whitley Schnee (A RWBY Adventure AU)

Just a reminder that Magoose said that if we choose the Sanctum option we will get Pyrrha as part of that choice.
I don't trust the Sanctum students to not tell Jacques that we are a Schnee once we reach Nana Schnee's house, which is why I didn't choose them. Plus you don't invite strangers into your Grandma's house

@Magoose From Whitley's knowledge of Weiss, if she gets rescued and later finds out that Whitley could have rescued her and was off adventuring elsewhere, how is she likely to react?
She would think that Whitley was being smart, as as far as she knows he did not do any sort of training in combat of command.

In general, I just don't like the idea of choosing the Sanctrum students because of how easily it could become a leak of information to Jackass; The Sanctrum students will almost surely ask questions to Whitley, and they will probably have been around him long enough to either connect the dots of 'Cole Crystal attempting to save Weiss Schnee' and 'Gee, Cole really looks just like that other Schnee kid!'

The mercs will probably not ask questions; This is just a job for them, and they don't really need to know much about this, besides, it is almost surely that this will be a one time thing and that we will never see them again, besides, with them being just random mercs, Jackass will probably have a harder time finding out about Whitley's location.

One thing you should know is... Sanctum Students may lead to information leakage, you won't have to deal with betrayal from the mercs looking for a paycheck.

[X] Fellowship of the Sloth Call
-[X] To Recover and Mourn: There is a duo that came into town, from the wilderness, named Ren and Nora. They are gathering an expedition to Kuroyuri village. To recover artifacts from the village, and the bodies of those who were lost. They were promising payment once the mission was over… but you knew that they were broke. So why would they risk it on a damned village Expedition?
-[X] Ask Pyrrha to come: Your friend will come with you... right? (You will get a miniturn to recruit her).

I choose this option, because getting allies/friends will help Whitley a lot, along with the fact we can bring Pyrrha(The bad feeling for her award ceremony makes me think recruiting her is better for both of our sakes). Thanks to being friends with Pyrrha, we have a better chance to convince her to come save what's left of Kuroyuri and maybe not having to write a speech for her to join us. This also means Pyrrha can gain more friends in Ren and Nora!

There is also the fact that if the rest of the people who save Weiss fail, we can try next turn if need be. Our Fighting prowess is only competent, our command in incompetent, and yeah it's more daunting then it seems. There is also the fact that Weiss will forgive us for not trying to rescue her, because to her knowledge our fighting ability and our ability to command is just below average.

If Weiss is saved then we have time to either get that dust mine to be more like Scrooge Mcduck(My personal option to get rich) or any other option. Also, our command being incompetent means trying to convince Sanctus students will be harder. Though with a good enough speech, it might be easier.

If any of the other plans wins, I'll be fine with it as well.

@Magoose If we try to secure the Dust deposit in northern Anima, won't the Schnee Dust Company try to get hold of it for itself (either legally through buying us out, or illegally through harassment and other shenanigans)?

[X] Fellowship of the Sloth Call

I'm kinda worried for Ren and Nora what would happen to them without help. Also we can add them to the ally pool next turn, and I'm kinda worried that we are not experienced enough to organise a ostage rescue operation in a terrorist base, we can use this adventure for training and practice for if Weiss has still not been saved.

[X] Plan: Family and Kind.

I'm definitely in favour of helping Weiss this turn. If only because the complexity of this mission will constantly grow, given the number of parties involved. In addition, as far as I understand from the words of the author, the hero's mother and the butler may actually die trying to save Weiss.
As for mercenaries, I see two problems: mercenaries are unreliable (in many ways), and I don't think we have enough money to pay them for such an operation.

[X] Plan Snow and Bronze
-[X]Operation Winter Gale: You are going to rescue your sister, no ifs, and, or buts. You will walk into the jaws of hell alone if need be, to get her out of there.
-[X]Ask Pyrrha to come: Your friend will come with you... right? (You will get a miniturn to recruit her)

Plan Family and Kind brings in the Sanctum students which, as Magoose pointed out, could leak information back to Jacques which could get us dragged back to Schnee Manor. Plan Terretto involves hiring mercenaries which may be outside our price range, considering that if there's a mission where the White Fang will be fielding their best troops it will be guarding a Schnee family member they are holding hostage, so they might demand more than we can afford or are willing to pay.

@Magoose If Plan Terretto is voted in and the mercenaries are beyond our price range or otherwise unsuitable, can we still attempt to rescue Weiss with just Whitley and Pyrrha?

They can try.

But the SDC isn't in the business of invading claimed lands and stealing from them… bad for businesse. They will keep an eye on it and wait for the Grimm to kill us though.

Ren and Nora will live… just might not be… in a good place.

Well Klein and Willow are…

well they are not safe but they certainly won't get murdered unless they fuck up.

… it will be difficult yes… but by god will it be glorious.

You will be able to afford at least one.

a guy who's a fan of fighting for lost causes.
The QM stated that there's a much lower chance of that happening than the Sanctum students telling Jacques about us.
I only said there was a small chance that would happen.

Not a large one. It's the same chance for the mercs to betray you.

Wouldn't the difficulty only increase if the other plans fail? I imagine that now would be the easiest time to attempt to rescue Weiss due to the fact that her captors would be dealing with multiple schemes and rescue attempts at the same time.

What we need right now is knowledge. Because we're lacking in resources and manpower, but we can potentially make up the difference by coordinating with Winter's, Willow's and Jacques plans, which would probably have a lot more money and firepower behind them.

-[X]Recruit from Sanctum: The Students of Sanctum are children with dreams. of Wealth, glory... of altruism. They want to help their friends, and one of their own... and while they are not your peers... they know of you. You just need to convince them that you are the one who is worthy of following. Pyrrha has gathered her class to the Gym... Now it is up to you. (Start Sanctum Speech Minturn)

Mostly comes to mind by the fact that the HG Witch is mostly themed with candy in the middle of the woods and most of the media I can remember and seen has Mrs. Claus being the one responsible for holiday candies.

We need adult help and Nana Schnee is the only one we could trust to not stab us in the back later.

Hah hah...bold of y'all to assume she hasn't become the local equivalent of Baba Yaga. We haven't seen her in 6 years and she lives in a cabin in the middle of Grimm-infested woods.

Not neccessarily. People lower there guard when they feel safe, and just because they fail, doesn't mean they don't weaken the white fang in the process. They'll be expecting reinforcements, which means slipping in disguised as fresh white fang recruits would be easier.

Also while willow would have to back off after any attempt because of less manpower, Ironwood would have soldiers to spare, and might even lead the second attempt personally. Meanwhile whitley gets some feild experience and might even be able contact Willow thru one of his recruited allies to ask for any info she has that could help a party interested in saving weiss.

After some deliberation

[X]Plan: Terretto

Because I don't feel comfortable leading a bunch of students against a terrorist organization. And honestly, if we're planning on future expeditions, we're going to need to hire help for protection anyway. We might as well start making connections in the business, as well as a forging a relationship we can potentially count on in the future.

Any failed rescue attempt would only escalate the situation. Why would they let their guard down? If they feel safe sure, but do you think they'll feel safe after 2 - 3 rescue attempts backed by Atlas military and SDC funds? And if security is beefed up, I'm not sure if disguising ourselves would be as easy as you think. Especially when we're not Faunus and young to boot. Heck, since their uniforms come with a mask, it's highly likely that they have some way of identifying each other, like a password or something.

Ironwood is many things. Subtle is not one of them. Not to mention that every failed attempt is going to make it more and more likely that the White Fang decides to cut their losses, kill Weiss and GTFO. If Ironwood decides to send the full might of Atlas military at them, that raises the chances even higher. So I don't have much confidence that he'll be able to handle a hostage situation.

Heres the thing about so many rescue attempts made by different groups with different agendas.

Salem can use that to make things worse.

[X]Mercenaries: you will gather a collection of mercs and huntsmen. You need bloody killers where you are going (Get to chose Mercenary Minturn)

This is the post with that plan BTW @Magoose
