Warband still needs a name
► ModernPygmalion (Galatea My Beloved)
Bacchanalia? Maenads? Doesn't quite click.

Okay, let's step it back. What are the touchpoints?

1) Galatea is running a tight ship. She takes to the pride and perfection domains of Slaanesh by way of having standards. This is why the AH are going to be trained and equipped to Imperial Guard grade instead of dirty fucking cultist grade. This also means that her warband is actually a pretty okay place to be. Nobody gets randomly kidnapped or eaten, but if you get talked by Guernica or Abelian into an experiment that's on you. You're still going to get any flavor of flogged, put on shit duty, or summarily executed (as either a sacrifice or a gribblefuck's meal) if you make yourself a problem, though.

2) Monster army. It's all daemons, beastmen and mutants and there's going to be quite a few gribblefucks. Like 90% of it can be deployed hideously fast and where you want them least via summoning, too. (From last I checked, chaos marked beastmen get summoning rules if they're attached to a Legiones Daemonica army, due to Tzaangor getting that and it just sort of trickling over to the rest of the faction)

3) Psyker focus. While she doesn't have any psyker troops due to not being Tzeenchian, a LOT of the army's characters got psykery stuff (Enrapturesses, Epitomes, Bray Shamans, Alluresses and equiv with the right daemonic rewards, ditto with Silverbacks and chaos boons, etec). She also has Mutalith has a massive power generator and turret. Nevermind how pretty much all her HQ units are psykers.

Omida (Yandere Simp)

Unless you are really attached to Greek theming for the whole thing, there's always the classic weeb option of going with Hyakki Yagyō/Night Parade.

A secondary naming theme is works of art (which is why Guernica is named that), so that could work. Night Parade or some version of [] Parade would definitely fit with a classier slaaneshi warband's name.

I'll jot it down as a solid maybe, thanks.

Hopefully one of the chaos players will be down for it. I got bribes for them!
Oh? Bribes you say? I'll have you know that, as a master sorcerer of Tzeench, I cannot be bribed easily!

Disturbingly plausible. Also, gaze upon the bounty of chaos!

Blessedly, the modern Obliterator model doesn't make me want to convert to Malal.

Meh. The new obliterators look like shit to me. They removed what sold the every shifting, mutating and growing arsenal of guns and flesh.

I mean, it's literally just Bane with cyborg bits!

Ya, plus I removed their resistance to non-magic damage. And "weakness to fire" here means flamers, plasma, volkite and probably meltas and rad. An argument could be made for las, but honestly, IG don't need it with their ability to pump out 250 lasgun shots in one go.
What? You don't want the wall of guns to trade up against your big, scary model? Cringe

Sidenote, I know there are no official hate-angel models, but has any third party or fan bothered designing some and making a BP for them? Otherwise I'll probably have to just kitbash them from furies and daemonettes. But I'd rather they have feathered wings.
Nah, there's no 'official' third party kit. But plenty that you can use for them with 3d printing, I think a few even come in the same ways GW minis do, lots of little parts to assemble. Failing that, you can prbably find a library to pick and chose which part you want

Seems like a waste to get the whole sprue only to take the wings and nothing else. Unless there's some way to edit the BP so it only spits out the parts I want at the Gundam Base printer?
You know... I have no idea if that's even possible? Considering there's no 'reward' BPs that we can earn on our side of things, I'm not entirely sure it's possible since it'd require making a file that the machine can read.

Possible isn't the right word I think, 'legal' is....

But hey, I think this means more breathing room since I thiiiink point budgets are divided between categories?
They are?

►SuspiciousAcolyte (Ordo Siscon)
I'd appreciate the figurines. One of the issues of being an old fuck: Your hand-eye coordination is shot. I'd like to join! I can't because I have trouble writing by hand, never mind this detail shit. So playing? 200% off the table, I can manage TWW and BFGA and suchlike, but past that? Lmao, no.
in all honesty, that's hardly an issue. I might have missunderstood, but my sister's blind and paralysed from the waist down. She can move around fine in GBNO, the game tends to 'fix' these little imperfections when you're diving.

Only reason she doesn't really play the game is because she's too busy enjoying doing simple things like reading and painting.

Mutilator bad? Because god, the things I've seen.

...Jesus fuck.
I mean, it can't be that- oh dear god.

►RatBastard (Teacher)
By the by, guys (@Hastar ) how viable do you think it is to just take a Death Wheel and downscale the fuck out of it so it is the size of a sideways Leman Russ or even smaller, with the stats getting reduced accordingly? I like the image of these fucking things just breaking through super tough formation lines so the chariots can roll in to mop up the disarrayed mess.
Cringe-pathetic, making big-useless wheels into sad-small wheels?

I weep-seethe at the idea! Use good-better skaven doomwheels!

They are superior-cooler! And come with two cute-cuddly friend-skaven, yes-yes!

OI!

We'd look better than these!

So, no chapter this week either. Work is doing its best to really just wring me dry of the will to live before I am free to go.

Well, that and Toriyama's death kind of just... killed the drive to do much of anything and the plan to sit down and write the chapter right before it was due.

That's the 3rd mangaka that helped define my childhood that died in four years. That's nearly 1 per year, and that didn't make me feel good at all.

On happier notes, I channelled the need to distract myself from this general feeling of 'I'm not doing super great' into painting minis!

I made two banana boys! (I got their combat patrol for crimbus)

Pure gold felt like it'd be kinda boring, so I made them into shadowkeepers. I think they turned out pretty well!

Especially this part:

they aren't actually black. But a very dark purple instead (one part purple (valejo hex litchen or citadel xereus purple, both are pretty similar colours) and two, or three part black paint. In regular light they look proper black, but under bright light like a camera's flash that purple comes to the front giving them some more life.

They're basically the first mini that I did in depth with layering, washes and drybrushing. I did a few (3-4?) before that, but I usually just slapped base paint and nothing else on them.

balls aren't done because I want to batch paint them all at once. So for now they are just black

I am a slaaneshi, I know your heart's desire.

Look forward to that viewing party.

I can sorta see the appeal of the old Obliterator models, but they were still kinda sloppily made methinks. The idea of metal meatball there is fine, but the execution left a fair bit to be desired. Should've been more like a mess of cables and muscle fibers snaking around and plugging into the guns extruding out.

What? You don't want the wall of guns to trade up against your big, scary model? Cringe
Shut. They'll have their fun blasting packs of chaos spawn to shit, let the furries have some fun.

Sadge. I'll see what's floating around, but if needs must I'll just glue Deldar feathered wings to 3E daemonette bodies and call it a day. Thanks to the pedestal I can get the poses right and everything.

Ideally I can find some good bird feet to tack on them... huh, actually, I have enough money saved up that if needs must I could just pay someone to turn my sketches into printer BPs for the minis. I'll go see if anyone on Fiverr or whatever else does that sort of comm.

You know... I have no idea if that's even possible? Considering there's no 'reward' BPs that we can earn on our side of things, I'm not entirely sure it's possible since it'd require making a file that the machine can read.

I'll send an ask to customer support, I guess.

No fucking clue, I have yet to dig into army play rules. I only got this impression from the fact that Greater Daemons make Daemon Princes of the same god count as Heavy Support instead of HQ, and that rule can be flipped around under the right setup. So I have to assume it makes a difference what a unit qualifies as even if the points cost doesn't change.

in all honesty, that's hardly an issue. I might have missunderstood, but my sister's blind and paralysed from the waist down. She can move around fine in GBNO, the game tends to 'fix' these little imperfections when you're diving.

I think he means that he can't do any mini or kit assembly or painting, which has to be done outside the game to use something inside the game. Given the in-game kits are just for practice and decor.

Also, good on her. I would imagine that someone with that condition would also get a kick out of more physical activities in the game, especially with how superhuman avatars can get, but hey. If she just wants to set up a canvas somewhere and get to work, that's 100% valid. Tell her that if she wants to trade art tips or get a second opinion on her work, I'm here. It's fun to talk shop with a fellow art nerd.

I weep-seethe at the idea! Use good-better skaven doomwheels!
Size could work if it has enough mass and momentum to make up for it and... huh, okay, the trample rules on Age of Sigmar seem pretty nice for what I'm aiming for. But I want something fully armored and covered to explain daemon engine. Also that looks like it's meant to actually ram through enemies and walls.

Overall, Doomwheel is a good design, but not what I'm looking for in this. These thicc boys are what I'm here for:

We'd look better than these!
True. These poor things look like four rocks and a squig in a sock painted by a drunk Weirdboy.

Lotosphages

Eleutharian Roustabouts

Eleutheria is the goddess/personification of freedom, yes?
Liking that one. Lotosphagos rolls off the tongue like a motherfucker, but it doesn't quite make the muse happy.

► AssMasterOfCalais (Wounded Ape)
Yes
Also an epithet for Dionysus

ELEUTHEREUS (Eleuthereus), a surname of Dionysus, which he derived either from Eleuther, or the Boeotian town of Eleutherae; but it may also be regarded as equivalent to the Latin Liber, and thus describes Dionysus as the deliverer of man from care and sorrow

LENAEUS (Lhnaios), a surname of Dionysus, derived from lênos, the wine-press or the vintage.

OMA′DIUS (Ômadios), that is, the flesh-eater, a surname of Dionysus, to whom human sacrifices were offered in Chios and Tenedos.

PHLEON (Phleôn), i. e. the giver of plenty, is a surname of Dionysus, describing the god as promoting the fertility of plants and trees.

► ModernPygmalion (Galatea My Beloved)
Oh, neat, Phleon sounds close enough to Pholoe for there to be some association. Definitely locks in the ship to being called Pholoe's Cornucopia, same for the forest's name. (Omadian Forest could also be a good name for the forest, but then I don't have the Fool Forest pun)

► AssMasterOfCalais (Wounded Ape)
Bacchus: of Bacchic fury
Maenoles: Mad, Raging
Nyctelius: of the night
Phallen: Phallic, Of the Phallus
Cittophorus: Ivy-Bearer
Cistophorus: Basket bearer
Erebinthinus: of the chickpea
Lysius: of release, releasing
Melpomenus: Singer, Minstrel, Of the Tragedy Play
Bakkheia: Bacchic Revelry
Thyia: Festival of Wild Revels
Anthesteria: festival of the flowers
Apaturia: Festival of Deception

► ModernPygmalion (Galatea My Beloved)
Eleutherian Roustabouts and Lysian Parade are currently in the lead
Although all of these are really good raw materials for naming other warbands and assorted chaos shit

Leaning Lysian Parade because it makes the brain auto-correct to Elysian and "one letter off from paradise" does make my muse smile

Aha, I think I'll make Eleutherian Roustabouts the name of Lamu's group. Since they're weirdos by slaaneshi standards and seem to work on a more mercenary basis.

Lysian Parade will be for the warband. This means it's going to be the LP-66-Sarcophagus. Or LP6-Sarcophagus, we'll see.

It's got panache, although thematically it probably fits khorne's elites better. The ones that are chugging the "god of war" juice instead of "god of warriors" and thus got more to them than just charging while screaming.

Baatezian [] has been jotted down as a maybe. If I don't use it, someone else in Avernus will, I'm sure. Hm, it would work for a Blood Pact regiment. Baatezian 88th. I can definitely see some Lucifer Blacks grade master assfuckers in a khorne army using the name.

Huh, could take inspiration from Glasya and her minions. For reference, Glasya's the daughter of Asmodeus in D&D, and at least used to (back in 3.0e) cause problems for her father on purpose by pretending to court one of the other Lords of the Nine. Not the one that's basically all but confirmed to have killed her mother, who Asmodeus actually loved, but one of the others. I think so at least. I'll always be glad to see D&D References though. Now I must away to the D&D subforums to gather companions for delving through the wilds of Khorvaire in 3.5e, wish me luck!

Didn't find much to work with on a quick skim, but that may be on account of how the wiki is structured.

Eh, whatever, I'm satisfied with the names I got so far.

Here, on account of yet another day with no episode:

Pholoe's Cornucopia:
  • The Sword Class Frigate taken over by Galatea's warband, the Lysian Parade.
  • The marble and gold of its prow has distended to coat the whole of the ship in reliefs and statuary of great feasts and festivals straight out of the wildest bacchanalias.
  • A minor Keeper of Secrets took an interest in the ritual used to corrupt the ship, nudging the magic into an exceptional success beyond what Lamu and Galatea could've brought about. As such, the ship has been named after her with the tacit understanding that they owe her one.
  • The usually uninhabitable lower levels of the ship, where waste disposal and the ghilliam would reside, have been transformed into the Foloian Forest (or the Fool Forest as far as the Horde are concerned). This is a fully functioning warp ecosystem wholly populated by chaos beasts and spawn, resembling an idyllic forest if not for how every plant and animal there is its own kind of predatory. It consumes all the waste the ship produces and in return provides a seemingly endless amount of clean water and food, at the cost of requiring hunting parties to retrieve it.
  • Abelian and Guernica have more than made themselves at home, claiming spaces the size of mansions for their workshops and data repositories.
  • Demilo, meanwhile, has opted for relatively smaller quarters right next to her master's and often finds a spot in Galatea's bed.
  • Lamu has, of course, taken over the navigator quarters as they are just as luxurious as the captain's quarters her mistress uses. And Gand followed along, obviously. Jpai has taken the master of kitchen's quarters (and surprised the Horde by also taking the duty too), while the twins have taken the astropath's quarters. M'llpat, meanwhile, technically has a home in some out of the way petty officer's quarters, but in practice just wanders and sleeps where she pleases.
  • Boatswain is all too happy to be in the upper decks at all and has elected to take over the discipline officer's quarters to keep a better eye on her Foremen and the wider Horde.

It's just a draft, ofc, since we'll see how things turn out once we get there. But hey.

Also, kek, it is entirely slaaneshi that these people get to enjoy all kinds of fresh food and spices, a HUGE luxury by hive world and navy standards, at the low low low cost of needing to fight through a slice of deathworld for them so they don't get eaten in return.

Thankfully, we got daemonettes and beastmen, both of whom are ecstatic to go play down there.

It also gives them something to trade with other warbands.

Now I'm imagining her hosting Khornates for a feast and throwing in a hunt for the ingredients to convince them to attend.
► ModernPygmalion (Galatea My Beloved)
Lmao. Only a possibility if they're relatively fresh renegades or from the Black Legion, aka remotely willing to deal with a slaaneshi sorceress in any capacity other than kill her dead.

Pretty much! He's figured out the true nature of Chaos so he's while a Khorne follower fine with anyone.

The true nature is endless mindless entropic destruction of everyone and everything forever into a meaningless soup of blood and war.

Also he's pissed off an entire chapter of Beakies who are nutjobs enough to have stolen Forgebreaker, Perturabo's personal fuck-shit-up hammer made by Fulgrim himself.

But "Everything is going to end up in eternal blood soup" does not seem like something you'd condone. Just a bit.

Lmao. Yeah, rn IC-Galatea views everything through the lens of gangs. A lot of revelations about chaos are just going to be taken as "ok, so the overboss is a fickle bitch and many of the sub-bosses (greater daemons and warband leaders) are raging assholes".

She thinks it's everyone scrabbling to get theirs and whatever else they can get away with, on top of typical underhive gang shittery writ large.

Which is pretty close to how the Great Game rolls, all things said.

She would NOT like the Word Bearers, then. They take Chaos as a philosophy REALLY REALLY SERIOUSLY.

So going "Eh it's a big fucking gang war but in space hell" is, well. Just about antiethical to them, really.

They'd think of you as an ignorant, blasphemous fool, and you'd think they're upper hive nobles who got super soldier treatments. Pretentious, snobby, upset at disagreement, and just plain weird about it.

Doesn't hurt that Lorgar's a loser nearly as bad as Mortarion.

Lmao, yeah. She has zero religious faith whatsoever, because as far as she's concerned, that only gives power to good people.

That's not her, that's not her girls, that's nobody in chaos (and barely anyone in the imperium). For them there's only witchcraft and being peddled sparks of power.

It doesn't help that, to her senses, there's a stark difference between the miracles the old lady did and what she'll see the nuns and priests do. The former is clean and warm golden light. The latter is tarnished and soaked in dirty red, which given what she's been told by Ariel, she will interpret as them unwittingly drawing on Khorne under the pretenses of Emps.

(She would be caught between scared shitless of the Anchorite and laughing bitterly as death comes to her.)

The Anchorite is a Very Old Space Marine. Not being scared shitless of that one is called being a suicidal idiot. He'd have fair odds of being classed as Transcendent Faith from manually forcing his way out of Corruption, assuming you ignore the book Daemonworld and Arqulon Veq.

Funny take on religion in 40k though.
What's an Anchorite?
A Loyalist Word Bearer Dreadnought from the Heresy who looked at the Word Bearer's doctrines, realized "It's all horrifically evil temptations" and rejected it, and turned himself over to the Imperium to be imprisoned for ten thousand years.

He rebuilt the entire Lectito Divinatus over that time, and had such insane, absurd faith that he could speak single words of old Colchisian and banish entire swathes of summoned Daemons, while also wrecking Veterans of the Long War by being just as old and just as fell. He's compared to a seraph in metaphors, the strongest of all possible angels.

One of those monsters like Bjorn the Fell-Handed who you treat more like an apocalypse to run from.
